Sonic wakes up on a beach laying on his back, ears ringing, dazed, wet and confused. He gazed out in front of him only to see the endless sky gazing back. "Hey, are you alright?" a female voice calls out. Sonic sits up and looks around, unaware of where the voice is coming from. "Huh? Who said that?" Sonic asks in a somewhat groggy voice. "Behind you Spiky. Can you walk?" The voice calls out again. Sonic stands up and turns around to spot a tall, blue dolphin with semi-short hair and a primary purple attire with golden bracelets and belt. "Yeah I'm alright. Snazzy fit." Sonic replies, giving the girl a compliment. "Oh this? I wear this everyday. It isn't much. Hold on, let's get back on track. What were you doing in the middle of the ocean!?" the dolphin replies, seeming almost flattered before dropping the mind boggling information. This leaves Sonic surprised. "I'm sorry, I was where!?" he shouted, suprised of his previous whereabouts. "Yeah, you were floating down to the bottom of the ocean, freaking out and beaten up. How did you even end up there anyhow?" The dolphin replies, being just as confused as he is. Sonic takes a few moments to ponder the question. "I… Uh… Huh? that's odd. I don't remember. In fact, I don't remember anything before waking up just a minute ago." Sonic claims. This catches the dolphin off guard. "What!? wait a minute, you remember your name at least, right?" The dolphin asks worriedly. "Oh yeah, of course, I'm Sonic the Hedgehog, fastest thing alive… At least I think that's right." Sonic claims, not being 100% of his own words. He then asks for the dolphins name. "Oh how rude of me, names' Tempest the Dolphin, world's fastest swimmer." She states. She seemed glad to see he doesn't have complete amnesia. After a couple moments of silence Sonic asks what they should do now.

"The best we can do for now is take you to the Grand Elder of Emerald Hill." Tempest states, claiming they might be able to help him with his amnesia. "And where do we find this Elder?" Sonic asks. "Well now that's a problem all by itself. We have to go to Pure Palm Village, the capital of Emerald Hill. Well it was Emerald Hill before Dr. Robotnik showed up and leeched most of the life out of all the grass, plants and trees with his machines. Now we just call it Green Hill." Tempest explains as a bothered look forms on her face. Sonic admits that it sounds lame and Tempest immediately agrees.

"There are loads of badniks blocking our path. Moto-bugs and Buzz-bombers" Tempest explains. "Ok and what are those?" Sonic asks. Tempest explains how moto-bugs are bug looking robots that will ram into them hard and fast, and buzz-bombers, which also look like bugs, will be flying around firing from afar but will dive in every now and again for a more accurate shot. Sonic states that it sounds easy to deal with as a bunch of moto-bugs and buzz-bombers reveal themselves behind him. Sonic asks, "They're right behind aren't they?" Tempest nods her head and they both get into a fighting stance and face the badniks. "Ok, it's juice and jam time!" Sonic exclaims before jumping head first into the badniks. Tempest pauses for a moment, trying to understand what Sonic just said but before she could Sonic has already made quick and easy work of the badniks. "juice and jam time? That's your catchphrase?" Tempest asks, trying not to laugh. "What? It just felt right. So don't question my choice of catchphrases and I won't question how you're breathing on land." Sonic exclaims, making Tempest slightly frown. "Hey I'm a dolphin not a goldfish." Tempest scolds Sonic for the misconception. "Alright I'm sorry. Now let's go. We have an elder to see." Sonic says trying to get back on track. Tempest is quick to forgive Sonic and gestures to him to follow her.

Sonic and Tempest begin running through the green hills with Sonic stopping every now and again to admire the sights. The palm trees, although dim, wave elegantly in the wind. The flowers, although somewhat wilted, still gave a faint aroma that shows signs of life. Even the grass that they stood upon stood strong with them. "I have to admit. Even though it isn't at its best. These green hills are breathtaking." Sonic states as he sheds a few tears. "Are you crying?" Tempest asks, worried for her new friend. "Yeah a little bit. It's just that this kind of view is something I thought I'd never see. It feels like I wanted to see something like this my entire life." Sonic says as he wipes his tears away. "I guess that makes sense. Hey at least you got to see it." Tempest says trying to stay on track. The two stop running to take it easy and walk. After a few minutes of walking they make it to Pure Palm Village and Sonic takes note of how cozy it looks but Tempest notices how empty it is.

"Where is everyone?" she asks, trying to find any sign of life. "Wait a minute. I'm seeing Moto-bugs, Buzz-bombers too. Wait, I see something else, something big." Sonic states, getting Tempests attention. Tempest turns around to see a large group of Moto-bugs and Buzz-Bombers followed by a large metal pod with someone inside. "Yep I see 'em. Wait, is that… Oh shoot, hide!" Tempest exclaims as she pushes Sonic out of view behind one of the houses.

"What the heck was that about Tempest!?" Sonic shouts before Tempest places her hand over his mouth. "Will you be quiet!? It's the doctor! But what's he doing here of all places?" Tempest whispers, seeming panicked at the situation. Sonic piers around the corner to try and get a better look at the doctor. He is very large, bald, has red eyes and a somewhat long mustache. Sonic turns his head to Tempest. "I can see why he needs the flying pod." He says, chuckling under his breath. Tempest slaps Sonic on the head and tells him to follow her as the doctor's voice echoes throughout the entire village.

"Citizens of Pure Palm, I know you are here. And I am aware that you all may be fearful of my arrival but trust me when I say I wish no harm to befall upon any of you. So I'll make this really simple. Bring me the Grand Elder or else my robot army shall-" Robotnik shouts before being cut off. "So you must be this Robotnik guy I've been hearing so much about. I'll admit, I didn't expect this much skin for a guy with "robot" in his name." Sonic states, making his presence known which makes Robotnik freeze for a moment. "That voice." Robotnik says quietly. Tempest starts stomping up behind Sonic and starts scolding him. "Sonic! What the heck! I thought we were doing this at least semi-quietly!" She shouts angrily. "Sonic!? IMPOSSIBLE!" Robotnik screams which slightly confuses the two mammals. "So you've heard of me?" Sonic asks. "YOU SHOULD BE DEAD!" Robotnik shouts before Sonic points out that he did a pretty crappy job at doing so. Robotnik screams before shouting "Destroy that rodent!"

"Oh boy, here we go." Tempest says worriedly. "Alright, let's do it to it!" Sonic shouts. Tempest points out how that's a much better catchphrase. "Again, it just felt right, let's go." Sonic says, seeming a little pestered. Sonic and Tempest fight Robotnik's large group of badniks but after a few are destroyed they are quickly overwhelmed by their large numbers. The two of them are left beaten and bruised with Sonic being unable to stand.

"Any last words you miserable pests!" Robotnik shouts. "Yeah… Watch your back." Sonic says weakly yet cockily. "Do you really think I'm going to fall for that?" Robotnik asks before being blown back by a powerful gust of wind. "What in my name was that!?" Robotnik shouts. "It's the Grand Elder!" a civilian shouts. She is a tall owl with big wings. "Did someone call for me?" She asks in a calm voice. "Y-yes, I did. Now continuing what I was saying before… Surrender or else my robot army shall destroy your village." Robotnik demands whilst still recovering from the gust. "While that sounds great and all, please do tell. What robot army may you be referring to?" The Grand Elder asks in a somewhat cocky tone. Robotnik turns around to find that the gust of wind destroyed all of his badniks and growls. "You'll pay for this!" He shouts whilst shaking his fist. "Yeah, good luck with that." The Grand Elder says before she flaps her wings and blows the shouting Robotnik away with a more powerful gust of wind. She then turns her attention to Sonic and Tempest who are catching their breath and asks if they were alright, pointing out the beating they took.

"Tempest, what did I tell you about keeping your guard up?" She says. Tempest gets on her knees and bows. "I'm sorry Grand Elder!" she shouts. The Grand Elder sighs. "For the millionth time already, call me Longclaw." she states. Tempest apologies and calls her by her name before Sonic butts in. "Nice to meet you Ms. Claw. The name's Sonic." he says with a cheery tone, even in his current condition. Longclaw informs Sonic that there's no need for formalities and to just call her by her name. "Now let's get you two patched up." She says as Tempest picks up Sonic.

Tempest carries Sonic to Longclaw's home. Her house is filled with shelves containing books on a variety of subjects. Tempest lays him on a wooden table then sits in a chair adjacent to him. Longclaw enters after them and grabs a book off one of the shelves labeled "Medicine" and starts flipping through the pages until she finds what she's looking for. "There we go. This should get you two back to proper health." she says before taking a brief pause. "But while I get that ready. Tempest, where did you find Sonic anyhow?" She asks while she starts looking for ingredients. "Would you believe me if I said drowning in the middle of the ocean?" Tempest asks with an awkward grin on her face. Longclaw turns her head and gives Tempest a puzzled look. "Why would a hedgehog be in the middle of the ocean?" she asks. Sonic and Tempest both shrug which puzzles Longclaw even more. "How does HE not know?" She asks, sounding down right baffled. "I don't remember anything about my life before I woke up on that beach. Huh, yet somehow I managed to remember my name and title. Hmph weird." Sonic claims. Both Tempest and Longclaw also agree that it's weird as Longclaw turns back around to focus on her task. "So do you think you can help me with my amnesia?" Sonic asks. Longclaw thinks for a moment. "I'm afraid not. Recovering memories is not something that can be returned with medicine. You'll have to regain them yourself over time. Sonic and Tempest give each other a saddened look. "Unless… Oh, who am I kidding. They don't even exist." Longclaw says, seeming hopeful at first before succumbing to her doubts. "I heard an "unless". Come on, what plan do you have? It can't be that bad." Sonic says as he sits up with a grin before groaning from the pain.

"The Chaos Emeralds. Legend has it that these jewels contain a one of a kind power capable of wiping out even the strongest of lifeforms." Longclaw states as Sonic ponders for a moment. "Chaos Emeralds? Hmm, I don't know why or how, but I feel like I've heard of those before." He says whilst stroking his chin. "Do you think that they're related to your past?" Tempest asks. "Maybe. Only one way to find out, I guess." Sonic says before Longclaw cuts him off. "You two shouldn't be going anywhere with the condition you're both in right now. If only I could find those herbs I could get you two healed but it looks like I'm all out. I'll have to send someone to find some." She says, pestered at the current situation. Tempest recommends that she herself go look for some. "I appreciate your determination but you and Sonic both need to rest right now. I can't risk this village's greatest fighter going and getting themself killed." Longclaw states. "Yeah, you're right. Well we can wait for a little bit, right Sonic?" Tempest asks Sonic but gets no response. "Sonic?" She asks again but still gets no response. She turns around to find that Sonic has left. "He left didn't he?" Longclaw asks with her back still turned. "Yep. Damn he runs fast for someone who just got the crap beaten out of him." Tempest states. Sonic suddenly returns with the herbs Longclaw was looking for. "I'm back and I got those herbs you needed." He states as he sets the herbs on the table. Longclaw was startled. "How are you back to full health!?" She asks. Tempest seconds that question. "I just grabbed this ring on that table and I suddenly felt like going for a run." Sonic claims. "I've been studying rings like that one for most of my life. They've always given off an unknown energy reading but due to lack of any proper evidence that there was even any energy to begin with, they're now mainly being used for currency yet not once have I ever seen them heal someone." Sonic pauses for a moment before tossing the ring to Tempest and she is suddenly restored to health. Both Tempest and Longclaw are amazed at the accidental discovery. "Well, how about we find ourselves some Chaos Emeralds." Sonic says with a lot of enthusiasm. Tempest questions how they'll know if the emeralds even exist. "It's like I said, only one way to find out." Sonic says reassuring his partner. "Alright then! Let's do it!" Tempest shouts. "I wouldn't get my hopes up. But I wish you two the best of luck." Longclaw states. Sonic thanks Longclaw and claims that they'll be back before she knows it. Tempest grabs a leather bag hanging on the chair before Sonic grabs her by the arm and rushes out the door. They leave Pure Palm Village at high speeds in search of the Chaos Emeralds.

"So, any idea on where to find these emeralds?" Tempest asks while scratching her head. Sonic claims that they just have to get lucky. Tempest frowns feeling as if her day is about to get wasted. Sonic holds his arm out to slow Tempest down before coming to a halt. "Hey, look at all of those badniks. They're all scattered about." He states. Tempest thinks it's some kind of patrol unit. "Let's trash them now so they don't become trouble later." She exclaims. The two of them rush the badniks, destroying them quickly. Small woodland critters jump out of the scraps soon after. Sonic catches one and holds it. "So Robotnik hired… small woodland creatures to pilot his little toys." Sonic says, confused by the sudden discovery. Tempest looks at the birds in the wreckage and points out that the little birds don't exactly have hands to pilot the robots. Maybe it's some sort of pedal power. "Weird, these little critters weren't in the other robots we scrapped. How cruel." Sonic says as he gets on one knee to release the animal in his hands. "So not only are we looking for the Chaos Emeralds but now we need to save all these little critters too. This might be harder than we thought." Tempest states, scratching the back of her head. "Robotnik doesn't have anything on the two of us." Sonic says as he gets back up. "Tell that to our badnik kicked asses." Tempest says with a frown. "Speaking of badniks, there seem to be more grouped up that way, almost like they are guarding something." Sonic says, pointing to the group of said badniks "You think it's the emerald… or emeralds?" Tempest asks as she surveys the surrounding area. Sonic points out that if the emeralds are as powerful as Longclaw says they are, they wouldn't want them all in one place. "Ok but why would they be guarding the emerald instead of collecting it for Robotnik?" Tempest asks. Sonic isn't sure. "Maybe he just wants to collect them by hand." He says while scratching his ear. "Well let's find out." Tempest says with a smirk while cracking her knuckles.

Sonic and Tempest approach the group of badniks to find out that they are moving faster than the others and in more chaotic patterns. "Well that's new." Sonic says while cautiously getting into a fighting stance. "Look! In those bushes. Do you see that green glow?" Tempest exclaims. "That's gotta be the Chaos Emerald. But how do we get past these badniks?" Sonic asks. "Better question is, how did they not notice us yet?" Tempest asks. Sonic pauses for a second and realizes that the badniks aren't attacking them as if they can't see them. The buzz-bombers are bumping into nearby trees and the moto-bugs are losing their balance. After a bit they all just break down. "Huh… That's odd." Sonic says, still trying to comprehend what just happened. "Alright then… let's… grab the emerald and bring it to Longclaw." Tempest says as she walks over to the bush. "They all just destroyed themselves… Well, except for this one." Sonic says as a motobug rolls up and lightly bumps into him. Sonic then gently taps its head with his foot and the motobug breaks apart and a small rabbit hops out and away. Sonic then turns his attention to the glowing bush possibly hiding a Chaos Emerald. Sonic walks up next to Tempest as she reaches her hand inside and retrieves the glowing object and in her hand lays the Chaos Emerald. Tempest lets out an excited cheer before handing the emerald to Sonic who simply just stares at it in a trance. Tempest notices this and tries to get his attention. "Yoo-hoo! Mobius to Sonic!" Tempest shouts as she waves her hand in the blue hedgehog's face. Tempest snaps her fingers in Sonic's face and he is suddenly snapped out of his trance but his expression is now very serious. "We're being watched." He says before quickly turning around and throwing the Chaos Emerald into the air. Tempest screams at Sonic as the Chaos Emerald hits a drone in the air and destroys it. The emerald falls shortly after as Tempest runs over to catch it. She then places it in a leather bag she grabbed before they left. "Hey next time you want to throw a powerful artifact that may be our only way of saving Emerald Hill at a drone… DON'T!" Tempest shouts towards Sonic. "Sorry about that… I don't know what came over me." Sonic says, still trying to process what he did. Tempest sighs. "It's fine. At least we have the emerald. And with little difficulty too." She states. Sonic quickly shakes his head before doing a quick stretch. "Alright then, let's get it back to Longclaw and-" Sonic says before Tempest shouts "LOOK OUT!" as she tackles Sonic to save him from a giant ball that suddenly crashed down where they just were. They regain their footing and look for the source of the sudden disturbance. It was Robotnik, his pod was equipped with a large wrecking ball.

"I'm just gonna get straight to the point. Give me the emerald or you both are getting smashed." Robotnik says with eyes gleaming red. "Yeah I'll pass." Sonic says, avoiding eye contact and shrugging his shoulders. Robotnik growls and pushes a button to swing the wrecking ball at Sonic but Tempest gets in the way and catches it. "Speaking of "pass." CATCH!" Tempest shouts as she throws the wrecking ball at Robotnik's pod, dealing some damage. "You've got some nerve for a little trout!" Robotnik shouts. Tempest goes still. She then demands that Sonic curls up into a ball. Sonic doesn't understand at first but proceeds to curl up before Tempest picks him up and winds up to throw him. "I AM A DOLPHIN YOU RACIST PRICK!" Tempest screams as she throws Sonic at Robotnik at full force sending bits and pieces off of Robotnik's pod and ultimately sends Robotnik flying. Sonic falls next to Tempest and stumbles before he regains his footing. "Remind me not to face you in baseball." Sonic says before asking if Tempest has the emerald. "It's in the bag. Now let's get back to Longclaw." She says. "Ok hop on." Sonic says as he turns his back to Tempest and kneels. Tempest questions what he means by that. Sonic claims that he would be able to run faster if he carries her on his back. "How would me being on your back make you go faster?" Tempest asks. Sonic turns his head to Tempest and smirks. "I wouldn't have to slow down for you." He says. Tempest smirks back. "Are you saying I can't keep up?" She asks. "Not entirely. Why? You wanna race?" Sonic asks. Tempest accepts the offer.

Sonic and Tempest line up and get into a starting position. "So, the finish lines at Longclaw's house right?" Tempest asks. "I can make it the edge of the village if you're not confident." Sonic states while smirking. Tempest does a quick stretch. "Trust me, the title of fastest thing alive is as good as mine." She claims. "Alright then, just remember that you wanted this." Sonic states. The two of them both begin to count down. "Ready. Set. GO!" They shout in unison. The two begin running at tremendous speed, head to head for most of it. They start to show off by running on the sides of cliffs or doing tricks. They rush through the village blowing civilians back by how fast they were moving. They were just about to arrive at Longclaws house until a young bee unsuspectingly walks into their path forcing Sonic and Tempest try and stop themselves but accidentally trip over each other and send themselves over the child and right through Longclaws front door breaking it in the process. Longclaw looks at the two with a cross look. "What the hell happened!?" Longclaw shouts. "We had a little race after our little look around for the Chaos Emeralds." Sonic says, laying on the floor with Tempest on top of him a little dazed. "And how did that go?" Longclaw asks, still a little upset about her front door. "I don't know who you think won?" Sonic asks. "She was talking about the search you pinhead" Tempest says as she slaps him in the back of the head. "And it went great cause we found…" She says while searching for her bag holding the Chaos Emerald but can't feel it on her person. She then asks Sonic where the bag is. Sonic says that she had it before asking why. Tempest shreeks and starts frantically searching for the bag until a small voice grabs her attention. "You dropped this." The small voice said. Sonic and Tempest turn around to find the small bee with the bag that Tempest lost. Tempest thanks the child before asking what his name was. "Charmy." he said with a smile. "Well thanks to you Detective Charmy, Tempest won't be having a panic attack." Sonic says, smiling back. Tempest gives Sonic a stern look as Longclaw lets out a small chuckle. Charmy isn't exactly old enough to understand what a panic attack is but smiles for being called a detective. He was about to turn around and leave but Tempest stops him and places some rings into his hands as a reward. "It was a tie by the way." Charmy says as he walks away with rings in hand and a wide grin on his face. "That boy may grow up into an interesting man." Longclaw states. "Now about your search for the Chaos Emeralds." She says.

"Well we don't have all of the emeralds but we do have a gem that we believe is one of the Chaos Emeralds." Tempest claims. Longclaw takes the bag and opens it to find the green gem which leaves her quite shocked. She quickly places the emerald on a table and examines it farther. She softly laughs at her discoveries. "They're real! They actually exist! This is incredible!" She shouts. "So do we have a chance at restoring Emerald Hill?" Sonic asks. "Not just that but now we have a chance at defeating Robotnik for good." Longclaw states. "Speaking of Robotnik, we ran into him when we found the emerald but he was much easier this time without his badniks." Tempest states. Sonic briefly explains how she threw him at Robotnik. "I've been meaning to ask; Are you ok?" Tempest asks. "Oh yeah I'm fine. Might leave a bruise later on but other than that I'm fine." Sonic says. "Focus you two. Does Robotnik know about the emeralds?" Longclaw asks. "We have reason to believe so. He had a drone watching us and after we destroyed it he showed up looking to take the emerald." Tempest claims. "So he must be looking for the others as we speak." Sonic states. "Then what are we waiting for!? Let's go get the rest of the emeralds!" Tempest shouts. Sonic questions how many emeralds there are. "According to my old studies; there are a total of six Chaos Emeralds spread across the South Island. And it says here in an old ancient carving, translated of course, "One will find them all, all will discover one, together they find their master"" Longclaw states. "I wonder what that means?" Sonic wonders. "Well let's take this emerald and go find out." Longclaw suggests which leaves Tempest was surprised. "Wait, you're coming with us?" she asks "We have witnessed a grand miracle today. One that gives hope to all. It's about time I got these feathers rustled." Longclaw states.

"That's the spirit! Now let's juice and jam!" Sonic says. "Before we do that, we… What did you just say?" Longclaw asks after cutting herself off. Sonic facepalms himself. "Oh here we go again." He mutters. Tempest points out that it's his catchphrase. Longclaw claims that she heard a lot of bad catchphrases in her days but that was the worst one she's ever heard in her entire life. Tempest states that he should've stuck with, "Let's do it to it". "You have a better catchphrase and didn't even bother to- you know what, forget it. We need to figure out where we need to look for the emeralds." Longclaw states after cutting herself off again. Tempest ponders what Longclaw said earlier. "One will find all, huh? Maybe because we have one we'll be able to find the rest. Sounds like a no-brainer. But how?" She asks. Sonic notices and points out that the emerald isn't glowing anymore. "It was glowing? Where exactly did you find it?" Longclaw asks. "We found it towards the edge of Emerald Hill near the Marble Ruins- Wait! Maybe the emerald will glow more the closer we are to another emerald." Tempest says. Longclaw states, "That's a good theory. Alright then, Tempest, go grab some water. The Marble Ruins is a scorcher this time of year."
