Hello readers, and welcome to Journey Across Frontiers. Somebody requested this story, and I'm so excited to get started.
This will be based on Sonic Frontiers, but none of the dialogue will be the same and most of the plot will be changed. This is my version of the story, an AU.
Now without further ado, welcome to the Prologue...

Far away, on an island lost to the ancients; evil lurked in the shadows of the trees.
Or rather, moseyed along in an egg-shaped, floating contraption; searching the island by headlight for...something. It is unclear if the bald, fatman with a mustache, who flies this vehicle; will find what he seeks...
"BALD, FATMAN!" Eggman shouted. "How dare you! And why are you narrating everything like you're writing a story; I didn't program you to do that, Metal Sonic!"
The robot stopped his monologue and looked up at his creator. "No, Orbot and Cubot upgraded me with all their vast knowledge of what they called: 'humor and annoyance.'"
"Of course they did. Remind me to disable those two when we get back to the base."
"Yes, Doctor Eggman."
"And stop narrating," The doctor commanded, "Or I'll remove your voice box. I honestly have no idea why I installed one in you, in the first place."
"You said you wanted..."
"I know what I said! Now shut up, and help me locate a piece of the Ancients technology."
Metal Sonic nodded, and his eyes started glowing red as he scanned the surrounding forest. "Scanning...Scanning...Scanning...Ancient technology identified." He pointed to the left.
"Good work. Maybe it wasn't a mistake to bring you, after all." Eggman steered his egg-mobile in the direction Metal had indicated.
It wasn't long before the pair had found what they were looking for: A large, crumbling structure shaped vaguely like a throne; with a large circle on top.
"At last" Eggman said, gleefully. "I will learn the ancients secrets, and use them to destroy that wretched blue rat."
"I will destroy Sonic." Metal countered. "It is what I was created to do. And I seek revenge!"
"Yes, yes, you will have your revenge." Robotnik responded as he jumped down and started toward the ruin. "And once Sonic is out of the way, the world will once again be mine! Hahahaha!"
As his creator laughed his head off; Metal Sonic stepped up to the ruin and, scanning it, found a problem. "Doctor Eggman?"
"Yes, what is it?" Eggman responded, coming over to stand by the robot.
"The plan you devised will not work. Even with the modifications you made to my system, the ancients technology is too complicated for me to safely connect to it."
"Then on to plan B." The doctor reached into his pocket and pulled out a thick disc with his insignia on it.
He strapped it onto Metal Sonic's chest. "I created this AI program, on the off chance that you wouldn't be able to connect to the tech. Together, you should be able to access the mainframe."
The disc glowed red, 'AI program online.'
Metal lightly tapped it, "Hello, AI. I am Metal Sonic."
"It's Artificial Intelligence." Eggman groaned, "It doesn't have the same software as you, so don't expect a response."
"Should I commence operation: Learn the Ancients Secrets and Destroy the Blue Rodent?"
"Yes, commence the operation immediately."
Metal Sonic put both his hands on the strip of titanium that led up the structure. "Connecting to cyber tech, uploading data now."
The portal lit up with red energy, and a beam shot out of the top into the sky; which crackled with scarlet electricity as cyber energy enveloped the islands. Elated by his success, Eggman started laughing again. What he didn't notice, was a different voice cackling alongside him; overjoyed for a completely different reason.
Red portals started appearing all over the island, summoning different mechs and robots from cyber space. A humanoid machine with sharp arms and the word 'NINJA' on the back, appeared in front of the doctor; who grinned. "Wonderful! The dormant technology is finally waking up; it'll only be a matter of time before I have it all under my control."
He didn't notice Metal Sonic start sparking, until the robot exclaimed: "Error! Error! Ancient...tech...cyber...corr..."
"Metal, what's happening? What's going on?"
Metal Sonic sparked for a minute longer, before going still. "System updated, The End has awakened."
"What?"
The AI disc started pulsing, 'Foreign technology detected, Initiating protection procedure.'
"Wait!" Eggman shouted, reaching out to grab Metal Sonic; who had started falling into the portal energy. "No, stop! I command you to...GAH!"
The doctor fell in to, and the ruin turned off with a flash. The island was deadly silent until...
BOOM! A loud pounding could be heard on the islands as enormous mechs emerged from their hibernation. The titans had awakened.
The disembodied voice laughed again, and deep laugh that would've sent shivers down anyone who heard it. At last! Free from the cage...though not quit free from the prison. Time for the next step in my plan...

Well, there you go; I hope you enjoyed the prologue. As you can probably tell, I'm making the plot much thicker then the game. It'll only get better from here, and I hope you stick around to see for yourself. See you in the next chapter!
