Batman found a first floor service path on the third bridge. He was alone against the wind and rain which started right after he spoke with Captain Gordon. Jim was forced to let Batman go alone on the bridge he needed people to continue working on fountains. The city mayor refused to call it a national security case and kept everything what was going on as secret as he could. He refused to take help from the state when a state authority contacted him about the bombs on bridges. He made everybody believe that he got it and there should not be any panic. In his phone call with President he assured him that it was "just a regular day in Gotham City, Sir. My team has full control over what is going on and I may say it'll be over by the nightfall."
Jokes on you, Mr. Mayor…
Batman was following the red dot on his arm screen. The dot was showing a location of the bomb on the third service floor. He must hurry maybe if he couldn't deactivate it he could possibly do what White Shadow did with the bomb on the Zone bridge.
Rain and wind became stronger and stronger with every minute. The lightning was painting the skyline with bright yellow splashes and thunder was accompanying this art work with dull sound of creator's brush.
The second floor of the service walkway was narrow and wind on this level was even harder. Dark clouds covered the sky making day turning night. Batman got a night vision in his mask and kept walking to the stairs leading to the third service level. The red dot was very close now.
One more set of stairs and Batman got on the third floor. The bomb was there at almost very end of the walkway secured on one of the piles. Batman didn't see it yet but felt if plus the red dot was right in front of him he just had to walk towards the pile.
-Alfred, you here? - asked Bruce calling his butler and walking towards the bomb.
-Yes, Sir.
-Any news about…
-No, everything is suspiciously quiet, Sir. Gordon's people almost got to the bombs on two other bridges and I hope they will defuse them fast.
-I almost got to mine, Alfred.
-The good news is that cops almost done with fountains, Sir. Only three left!
-It's a great news, Alfred. I want to say before anything happens that I couldn't ask more from universe then you being on my side.
-My honor, Sir. But I beg you be careful, Sir…Sir… Mr. Wayne…Bruce!?
It was too late for Batman to hear old man's words. The hot and unstoppable wave of heat and fire covered floor after floor of service walkway breaking out and destroying bridge's foundations.
The third bridge went off exploding in the dark sky, burning rain and giving flames to the wind.
