Queen Aleena:*off-screen* The fight for freedom seemed neverending. And it was not surprising that sometimes my children could get discouraged.
(Ayla's POV)
*It's been a few weeks since we rescued Bartleby. Today, we were outside one of Robotnik's factories, getting ready to ambush it*
Sonic: Let's do it to it!
*Me, Sonic, & Sonia jumped across tall rocks & then ran towards the factory, but were stopped by the Swat-Bots guarding the front entrance*
Swat-Bot: HALT!
*Sonic & I went in one direction & Sonia went in a different direction. The bots started chasing us. Soon, Manic started drumming on his drums, causing an earthquake. Sonic & I caught up with Sonia & we did a sharp turn, causing the bots to crash into each other. Then, with one final note, the factory collapsed*
Sonia: Nice work.
Sonic: You got the beat, Manic!
Ayla: You rock.
Manic: Like taking wing-nuts from a Swat-Bot.
*Suddenly, Sleet & Dingo's scorpion ship appeared above us & started firing lasers*
Sonic: Incoming!
*We all ducked for cover. Manic dropped his fanny pack. Soon, they landed & stepped out. Dingo noticed the fanny pack*
Dingo: Look!
Sleet: They are toast!
Sonia: Wrong again, Slick!
*We all rushed towards them. Sonic had his guitar ready*
Sonic: By a landslide!
*He fired a laser from his guitar & it hit a big rock above Sleet & Dingo, which caused rocks to rain down on them*
Ayla: Hey, Sonic. What do you call Sleet and Dingo buried up to their necks?
Sonic: Not enough rocks?
*We, along with Dingo, laughed. Suddenly, another rock landed on top of Sleet*
*Later, we were back at the hideout. Manic was pounding at his drums*
Ayla: Something on your mind, Manic?
Manic: It's just, well . . . I've been thinking. We raid, Buttnik rebuilds. What's the point?
Sonic: Hey, we just munched his solid fuel installation. That's not too shabby.
Manic: Yeah, I guess. But it seems like nothing really changes.
*Just then, Sonia ran into the room & put a chip into our holo-computer*
Sonia: Guys! Big trouble! *a holographic image of two striped male cats standing in a lab appeared* Check this out!
Fat Cat: If we can increase the - *suddenly, a giant red & gray robot came crashing through the wall* Watch out!
*The two cats fired their lasers at it, but it just grabbed both of them with red tentacles & started to leave. But not before turning to the security camera*
A.R.T.: I AM A.R.T. YOU ARE NEXT, HEDGEHOGS.
*The image stopped*
Manic: What was that?
Ayla: Trouble.
Manic: Big trouble. And if we beat this thing, Buttnik will just send something else!
Ayla: Manic, I know how you feel.
Sonia: We all do. But we can't just give up.
*Sonic brought up a holographic image of the robot*
Sonic: Check this out. *he replayed the battle* This thing always dodged to the right.
Sonia: Hmm. Interesting.
*We went out in the team van, which was disguised as a delivery truck. Sonia was looking through a periscope*
Ayla: No sign of him anywhere.
*We stopped the van. Manic was leaning against the wall, tossing a coin into the air*
Sonic: Manic!
*Manic got startled by his shout & dropped the coin. Suddenly, a red metal arm came crashing through the wall*
Sonia: Oh my gosh!
Manic: Yo, it's coming through the wall!
Sonic: Watch out!
Ayla: Get back!
*It started shaking the truck. Sonic jumped out & grabbed Sonia's hand. I got out my board. Sonic then took Manic's hand*
Sonia: Outta here!
*We zoomed away from the truck & the robot. But it stopped us with one of it's tentacles. We all turned back to it*
Sonic: It's that A.R.T. dude. Go on! I'll keep him busy.
*I got out my Ring Blades*
Ayla: Not without me you're not. *Sonia just stared at us for a while* Go!
*Manic pushed her down at alley*
Sonia: Remember. He always dodged -
Sonic: Gotcha.
*He summoned his guitar*
Sonic: Hey, Bolt-Boy! Let's try a little double action! *he fired lasers at the robot's feet, but it dodge both left & right this time* Whoa! What happened to going to the right?
Ayla: Something tells me it's evolved it's programming since we saw it in the video.
A.R.T.: A.R.T. WILL TRY AGAIN.
*It fired it's own laser at us, which we dodged. It cracked it's tentacles and us, but we dodged again & jumped on a truck*
Sonic: Hey, Gears-for-Brains! Let's try this again!
*Sonic fired more lasers. Suddenly, A.R.T. grabbed us with his tentacles*
Ayla: Hey!
*He threw us to the ground & started dragging us away. Sonic grabbed me, did a spin dash, & broke us free from the tentacles*
A.R.T.: HEY. HOW YOU GET AWAY?
*We stopped & Sonic looked back, giving the robot a mocking laugh*
Sonic: You figure it out, Blot-Boy.
*We zoomed away again*
*We caught up with Sonia & Manic & made our way to an iron works factory*
Sonia: Let's take this place down!
Ayla: Yeah!
Manic: Like it does any good.
Sonic: Loose the tude, bro.
Sonia: I wonder where that A.R.T. creature is.
*I looked down saw you-know-who on the ground floor*
Ayla: Speak of the devil!
*A.R.T. shot up one of it's tentacles & used the grappling hook to make it stick to the ceiling. Then it came up & landed in front of us*
A.R.T.: A.R.T. WILL END THE TROUBLE NOW.
Sonic: I don't think so. *he summoned his guitar again. A.R.T. fired lasers at us, but we dodged. Sonia & Manic lost their footing on the platform & almost fell into a vat of smelting metal. luckily, Manic grabbed on to Sonia & then on to a cable, just before they could. A.R.T. marched over to me & Sonic, who fired lasers from his guitar. they damaged the robot's arm & made it fly back on it's back. suddenly, the robot rebuilt itself & stood up* Bummer-may-horus.
Ayla: No kidding.
*A.R.T. fired more lasers & we dodged again. Sonic fired more lasers, but the robot brought out a laser gun from it's chest*
A.R.T.: GOODBYE, EVIL HEDGEHOGS.
Sonic: I don't think so! *he & the robot's lasers clashed with each other, until Sonic slid under it & it's laser hit the floor, causing it to explode. I got out my board, grabbed Sonic, & held on to him as A.R.T. fell into the vat below.* I think A.R.T. just flunked the asid test.
*Manic swung the cable until he & Sonia got back on the platform. Sonic put his guitar away & we landed in front of them*
Manic: Yes!
Sonia: Nice work, Sonic.
Ayla: Awesome move.
Sonic: Hey. No problem-o.
Manic: Nothing's getting out of that. Let's book!
*Sonic grabbed & Sonia & zoomed out of the factory. I followed them on my board*
*Later, we were at an abandoned theater, ready to do a rehearsal for an upcoming concert*
Sonic: We really kicked some bot butt!
Manic: Yeah. But I bet Buttnik's already working on something better.
Sonia: Oh, get over it, Manic!
Ayla: Yeah, come on. Let the music move you.
*Manic smiled & started banging on his drums*
Manic: Yeah. You're right, big sis and little sis.
*Sonic started playing his guitar, Sonia played on her keyboard & I sang a long note in my microphone. Sonic, Sonia, & Manic started playing. I was about to sing when suddenly, four very familiar red tentacles appeared & grabbed us, lifting us up into the air.
Sonic: Whoa! What's going on!?
*Just then, A.R.T. appeared out of the shadows*
A.R.T.: NO SPIN. I TOLD YOU I WOULD LEARN.
*The four of us struggled*
Manic: Okay, you got us so go ahead & take us in!
A.R.T.: FIRST MAKE MORE OF THAT NOISE.
Ayla: Noise? What noise?
A.R.T.: THE NOISE YOU WERE MAKING.
Sonia: That noise is music! But you wouldn't know about music because Buttnik outlawed it.
A.R.T.: BUTTNIK? BUTTNIK? OH, ROBOTNIK. ROBUTTNIK. *he started laughing in a creepy robot way* THAT IS VERY FUNNY. NOW PLAY THE NOI - THE MUSIC.
*He put us down next to our instruments, while still holding on to us*
Sonic: Well, since we got no choice. Time to rock your socks off, bud!
Sonia: 1, 2. 1, 2, 3, 4!
*All singing*

*But he told us something that shocked us*
Sonia: You're actually letting us go?
A.R.T.: YES. I HAVE LEARNED. ABOUT FREEDOM AND FRIENDSHIP.
*Manic was trying to get us to leave*
Manic: Dude, come on. Before he changes his mind.
*He started to leave, but A.R.T. stopped him with a tentacle*
A.R.T.: WAIT. PLEASE.
Manic: Oh, right. I knew it was too good to be true.
Ayla: Manic, come on. At least let's hear him out.
A.R.T.: YES. YOU MAY GO. I JUST WANT TO BE A FREEDOM FIGHTER. ROBOTNIK TAUGHT ME TO CAPTURE FREEDOM FIGHTERS. THAT WAS WRONG. I MUST FIX THAT.
Sonic: He's a fast learner. So, what do you guys think.
Ayla: I say we give him a chance. I mean, it's not every day an actual robot what's to be a Freedom Fighter.
Sonia: I vote we bring him on board.
Manic: How do we know we can trust him?
Sonic: Because we're the Priority One Hedgehogs. And he's not dragging our butts to Robarfnik. Right, bug guy?
A.R.T.: RIGHT, SONIC. *he turned to Manic* YOU DO NOT TRUST ME?
Manic: Suspicion is good when you're on the run, guy. *sigh* But you gotta trust somebody sometimes. *He & A.R.T. shook hands* Okay, you're in.
A.R.T.: THAT MAKES ME FEEL . . . SOMETHING.
Ayla: Wow. Feelings too? Robotnik really screwed up this time. But this is also good for us.
Sonic: You said it, little sis. Now if you could make chili dogs, you'd be perfect!
*I rolled my eyes. Oh, brother*
*Later, A.R.T. was helping me & Sonic free prisoners from Robotnik's fortress. He fired lasers at the fortress*
*We made it back to the hideout. Sonic was telling A.R.T. our story, with Sonia taking pictures*
Sonic: And then, the Oracle told us about the prophecy.
A.R.T.: PROPHECY? WHAT IS THAT?
Sonia: It's a foretelling of the future.
Ayla: This prophecy says that someday I, the Hero from Another World, will come & reunite Sonic, Sonia, & Manic with our Mom and defeat Robotnik once and for all.
A.R.T.: THAT WOULD BE GOOD?
Manic: Yes. But my question is when? For all we know, it could happen twenty years from now.
Ayla: I highly doubt it's going to take that long to defeat Robotnik.
Manic: Look, my point is, why bother?
A.R.T.: HMM . . .? WHY BOTHER?
*Suddenly, we got a call on the Freedom Fighter hotline. Sonic answered it*
Sonic: Message coming in! *a code appeared on the screen* It's from Cyrus!
Sonia: Oh, my gosh! Robotnik's captured Mother!
*The triplets & A.R.T. were about to run out of the hideout, but I stopped them*
Ayla: Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold the phone!
Sonic: Ayla, we don't have time to hold on! Mom's in mondo trouble!
Ayla: Guys! Think for a second. We all know how careful Mom is. Do you really think Robotnik would be able to capture her?
*They all stopped & thought for a moment*
Manic: You know, she's got a point. It's not the first time Robotnik's tried to capture us using a fake Mom as bait.
Sonic: You're right. And nine times out of ten, it's Dingo disguised as her.
Ayla: Exactly. And if I know Robotnik, this just another dumb trap meant for us and A.R.T.
Sonia: So what do we do?
Ayla: Simple. We go along with the trap for now. But spring our own trap in him once we catch them off guard.
*We snuck into Robotnik's fortress through the air ducts. A.R.T. shrunk himself down to fit & used his tentacles opened the grate & Sonic kept lookout*
Sonic: Clear.
*We jumped down into an empty hallway*
Sonia: Which way?
*Manic took out a tracking device*
Manic: High security facility is that way.
*He pointed at a hallway that was blocked by a laser grid*
A.R.T.: NO PROBLEM-O.
*He stepped up to the grid*
Sonic: What a guy. *A.R.T. put his hand on the grid & went through it. then if disappeared. we ran up to him* Oh, way past cool.
Manic: Nice work, dude.
Ayla: Great job.
*A.R.T. smiled. Sonic & I peered down another hallway*
Sonic: Double guard, outside the door. This must be the place.
*Sonia turned to A.R.T.*
Sonia: You're on!
*I could see someone that looked like Mom moving in the cell behind the Swat-Bots. But I knew it was either Dingo in disguise or a holographic image of her. A.R.T. stood in front of the Swat-Bot guards*
A.R.T.: SWAT-BOTTOMS UP!
*The Swat-Bots readied to fire lasers at him, but he absorbed their power with his tentacles & they fell flat on the floor, deactivated. Then we went up to the cell, ready for anything*
Manic: Hang on, Mom!
Sonic: Mom!
*A.R.T. disabled the force field blocking the cell & the we all slowly approached Mom*
Manic: How do we tell if it's really Mom or not.
Ayla: Like this.
*I reach out my hand to touch her, but it went right through it*
Sonia: Oh no!
*Suddenly, a pair of metal doors closed & Mom turned into Sleet*
Sleet: Sorry, hedgehogs. Time to kiss you're hologram Mom and your Mother goodbye.
Ayla: So . . . You were the imposter this time. Didn't see that coming.
Sleet: Looks like I finally pulled one over you, Hero.
Ayla: Yeah, just don't get used to it, Pizza Face.
*He just smiled at me & disappeared. Suddenly, the room started to shrink*
Sonia: What is this?
A.R.T.: WHAT IS THIS?
Sonic: Hey, what's going on?
Manic: Hey, no way!
Ayla: We're going to be crushed!
A.R.T.: I WILL DEAL WITH THIS. *he shot a laser out of his chest, but it barley made a dent. Sleet appeared again* OR NOT.
Sleet: Sorry, A.R.T. The door is made for composite materials. You'll never get through them.
Ayla: Never say never, Loser!
*Just then, A.R.T. stretched out his arms to pushed back against the walls*
Sleet: Nice try, but those hydraulics are much stronger than you. You are about to become a hunk of useless metal!
*He laughed & disappeared again. A.R.T. kept pushing*
A.R.T.: HIT THE BACK WALL! IT IS THE WEAK POINT! USE WEAPONS.
*Sonic, Sonia, & I summoned our instruments & did as he said*
Manic: It's not enough!
A.R.T.: I SHALL BLAST TOO!
Sonia: No! It'll weaken you and we'll all be crushed!
*Manic summoned his drums*
Manic: Let me try!
Sonic: You sure you can control it? We could all get smashed!
Manic: And if I don't try it?
Ayla: He as a point there!
*The walls were getting closer together. Manic hit his drums & everything started to shake. A crack in the wall appeared*
Manic: Hit that spot with your weapons!
*His drums disappeared*
Sonic: I'm there, Manic!
Ayla: We all are!
*We hit the spot with our lasers & a hole blew open*
Sonic: Yes!
A.R.T.: GET . . . OUT!
*He couldn't hold the walls back anymore. We all rushed out of the hole, but A.R.T. stayed*
Manic: Come on, Art! Let's go!
Ayla: Get out of there!
A.R.T.: I WILL STAY. AS YOU SAY, WHY BOTHER? MY ACTIONS WILL NOT DEFEAT ROBOTNIK.
Manic: Maybe not this time, but you gotta try!
Ayla: Never give up! That's one of the first rules of being a Freedom Fighter!
*Then we both realized something*
Manic: Okay, we get it.
A.R.T.: YES, MANIC. AYLA. A.R.T. US NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO LEARNS. NOW GO.
Manic: Come on, man. I learned my lesson. Let's get out of here!
A.R.T.: IT IS TOO LATE. IF I TRY TO LEAVE, I WILL BE SMASHED. BUT IT IS ALL RIGHT. I HAVE FOUGHT FOR FREEDOM . . . AND I HAVE MADE MUSIC.
Sonic:*off-screen* Swat-Bots!
A.R.T.: THANKS TO YOU HEDGEHOGS, MY LIFE HAD VALUE. NOW GO.
Manic: Later, man.
*I felt tears sting my eyes tried to get out. Suddenly, a laser hit Manic in the arm. I quickly grabbed him & we ran out of there. Behind us, I could still hear Art's voice*
A.R.T.:*off-screen* GOODBYE, FRIENDS.
*We hid behind a corner as Swat-Bots fired at us. Sonia fired back. She noticed Manic's arm*
Sonia: Manic!
Manic: I'm alright, sis. I'm alright.
*Suddenly, there was an explosion behind us & a loud crushing sound*
Sonic: Poor guy.
Ayla: His sacrifice will not be forgotten
Manic: Let's get out of here . . .
*Just then, I noticed something*
Ayla: Look! Art burned another hole!
Sonic: Time to juice and jam!
*He grabbed Sonia & Manic, I got on my board, & we all zoomed out of there*
*Later, we waited in a back alley for Manic, who went to get something*
Sonic: Where is he? The supply depot is just around the corner
Sonia: It shouldn't have taken Manic this long to set those explosives.
Ayla: I know. I'm starting to get worried. Maybe we should -
Manic:*off-screen* Finished!
*He flew in on his board*
Sonia: What took you so long?
*He jumped off his board*
Manic: I added fifty kilos to the load l.
Sonic: Fifty!? That's gonna vaporize the place!
*Suddenly, there a was a humongous explosion*
Manic: Just thought I'd put on a little light show. Haha! In memory of Art.
*He looked down sadly*
Sonic, Sonia, & Ayla: In memory of Art.
