Michigan State Border, Dilganese held territory, December 1st 0 ATF.
The America's front had been an series of ups and downs for the Dilganese armed forces, the Leni forces had made a blitzkrieg in the earlier stages of the war, but were now on the backfoot, despite this, the Leni forces were able to use the familiar areas of Indiana and Michigan to their advantage and held the Dilganese for the long month long sieges of Indianapolis and Baltimore which had saw the Dilganese lose a significant number of troops. In fact the Dilganese was struggling to hold off a now joint Titans/Suspected IRGO forces that had dug themselves deep in the North East.
On the outskirts of Michigan's state border, the 17th Jefferson Division along with a few other notable divisions and brigades was stationed on a field base awaiting further orders.
James Pickles, Alex 'Leo' Takasu and Rosemary Deikun were all resting after having to use their MS in various sieges, as an majority of battles on the front had been urban warfare with MS used only on military targets or to seize small towns from the Leni/New Titans forces, the rest of the battles saw the 3 constantly moving in either vehicles or on feet with weapons with at one point the 3 of them had experienced trench warfare.
"James, may I see you in my office please" said Field General Ichinose
"Sure thing" said James
James walked into the makeshift office which was a table with two chairs and a map in a camouflaged gazebo.
"What did you want to speak to me about, Field General" said James
"For the battles of Detroit and Royal Woods, the dug-in Leni forces are going to use some of the best MS pilots known to our dimension, known as the LPG (Leni Praetorian Guard), so me along with a few commanders and captains agreed that you 3 will need some extra training before you lot head to battle" said Field General Ichinose
"What are you thinking in terms of trainers" said James
"Quattro Bajeena is to train you three, you'll report to MS simulator's in less than an hour" said Field General Ichinose
"Quattro Bajeena, is he the MS pilot that always in the colour red" said James
"Yeah and he is also from your mothers native dimension, in fact he is an ace pilot from that dimension" said Field General Ichinose
"He might be a good teacher then" said James as he walked out of the room
Not long after Quattro Bajeena walked into the room.
"So I been hired to teach some pilots" said Quattro
"You have, Captain LaRusso and Captain Lawrence have struggled to use our MS pilots into combat and this battle we need our MS pilots to be able to handle the deeply entrenched Leni forces as well as deal with the LPG" said Field General Ichinose
"The LPG, I hear some of them are former Federation pilots, what pilots have we got" said Quattro
"we"ve got 4, 3 from the Dilganese and 1 from the North Japanese who sent us a pilot in a attempt to improve their relations with the Dilganese" said Field General Ichinose as she hands Quattro the pilot files.

"She along with James and Alex have served together throughout the entire war as part of the 17th Jefferson Division" said Field General Ichinose
"What about the other pilot, Yasako Tatamuri" said Quattro
"She is the daughter of Nayuki Tatamuri who herself is the cousin of North Japanese leader Yuichi Aizawa, she is around James's age" said Field General Ichinose
"I see, may I start the training now" said Quattro
"You may" said Field General Ichinose
Later
Quattro had gathered the 4 pilots together who had stood at a attention.
"My name is Quattro Bajeena and as of today you will be under my training, I have served as a MS pilot for the Principality of Zeon, AEUG, Newborn Neo-Zeon and now the Dilganese Empire" said Quattro
"What sort of training are we doing under your command" said James
"MS Simulators, I will be in the simulator as well to guide you" said Quattro
"Are you sure MS Simulators will be a true reflection of real combat" said James
"Considering I will be teaching and guiding you 4, I'm pretty sure I can lend some of my combat experience in terms of MS combat" said Quattro
(Authors Note: I would highly recommend reading this part whilst listening to Mighty Wings or Danger Zone, both from Top Gun)
All 5 of them entered the MS Simulators with James in his SPT Raptor, Leo in an SPT Reptar Mk III, Rosemary in an SPT Zaku Alpha Custom, Yasako in an Dango GM Sniper and Quattro actually appeared in his old red Sazabi.
"First drill, lets see how you all do against me before I teach you a few pointers" said Quattro as he charged his Sazabi at the 4 MS.
Leo and Yasako charged at the Sazabi, whilst Rosemary and James held back sensing the strength of MS they were fighting against as the Sazabi proved to be a capable machine despite its age as it made short work of Yasako and Leo's virtual MS.
"You two rush into battle easily without assessing the situation of the battle" said Quattro
"Why is my Newtype instincts going off, Funnels" said Quattro as he spotted 4 funnels heading his direction which he dodged their attack.
Suddenly Quattro spotted a White and Blue MS heading his direction moving at lightning speed, it was the SPT Raptor and as it was moving it's funnels created a sort of rainstorm of beam fire which damaged the Sazabi's shield as Quattro attempted to block it. Quattro moved in close to disable its funnels, but the SPT Raptor pulled back using its funnels to repel the Sazabis advance which Quattro successfully dodged.
'He fights like Haman, overreliant on the funnels' thought Quattro
Quattro also heard rifle fire from behind his virtual MS, he detected the Zaku Alpha Custom.
"Lets see how good you are in MS combat, Rosemary" said Quattro
Quattro deployed his fin funnels and launched them at the Zaku Alpha Custom, Rosemary dodged them successfully by using the asteroids as cover which then saw beam sabers clashed before the Sazabi launched its iconic kick stunning Rosemary's MS.
"My MS" said Rosemary as the Zaku Alpha Custom was spinning in multiple directions
"Always expect the unexpected" said Quattro as he finished Rosemary's virtual MS with a beam rifle
More funnels came from behind the Sazabi which Quattro managed to destroy using precise beam rifle shots before being ambushed from behind by the SPT Raptor who charged at the Sazabi with two beam sabers.
"Last one standing, huh" said Quattro
"You bet" said James
Both suits would clash beam sabers, Quattro noticed that James's beam saber dueling style was an combination of Haman's aggressive style as well as a unique style that emphasized dynamic movement and to use a differing movement on each MS hand.
Quattro attempted the Sazabi kick, only for James to shift aside and avoid it, James tried to counter with the Raptor's shoulder cannons, but Quattro managed to place his beam sword near the cannon fire which caused both MS to spin far from each other.
'I cannot lose, not here, not ever' thought James as his Pink and Blue Newtype aura began to engulf his virtual MS.
James detected the Sazabi which was moving around to avoid being a sitting target and chased after it with fury.
Quattro then spotted the SPT Raptor with what looked to be a menacing Newtype aura.
"QUATTRO BAJEENA, I CAN'T LET YOU WIN THIS FIGHT" yelled James as he charged at Quattro with a very high level of psychic pressure to the point where Quattro noticed that it had an 2 second x-ray effect where for 2 seconds James's skeleton appeared before returning back to his normal body.
'That amount of Newtype aura is far too strong for any Newtype to be using, even the Flanagan Institute warned us of that technique's effect on a Newtypes health' thought Quattro concerned as he recognized the technique.
Quattro was being dragged towards the SPT Raptor as its psychic pressure was way to strong to be avoided. Beam sabers clashed, but Quattro noticed that the Raptors beam sabers felt stronger than usual, almost rock solid. Quattro had to use surprise to avoid his virtual MS from being completely obliterated and managed to defeat James's MS using the Sazabi's chest cannon.
4/5 of the pilots walked out of the MS simulators.
"Where's James" said Leo
Yasako and Rosemary opened James's MS Simulator to find him asleep, the Newtype attack he used in battle had sapped a lot of his energy and he fell asleep after the battle had ended.
"Take him back to his quarters, we will do more MS training later" said Quattro
"Yes sir" said Yasuko and Leo as they dragged James to his quarters.
"What surprised you about that technique James used, Father" said Rosemary
"Its a very rare Newtype technique that most Newtypes stray away from using as it could endanger their own health in battle as it uses all of the Newtype energy that the pilot possess as well as their life force which merge together to create a very powerful, yet risky aura to use in battle" said Quattro
"He has used it before in order to destroy a deeply entrenched Leni base in the mid-west" said Rosemary
"He needs to be careful with it or it could risk his health" said Quattro
Later in the refectory room
James, Leo, Rosemary and Yasako all sat down to eat food, James was feeling a little tired from the Newtype technique that he had used earlier.
"That technique you used looked so cool, what exactly was that" said Yasako
"It was a Newtype technique that I use when my Newtype aura is at its maximum, kinda like Dragon Ball" said James
"You almost defeated Quattro with it as well, only by shear luck did he win" said Leo
"Yeah, I thought I had backed him off with that move" said James
"He is a experienced pilot, plus a Newtype himself, so he probably saw similar moves before" said Rosemary
"True, I did sense something though whilst in the aura" said James
"What was that" said Leo
"I sensed Quattro's thoughts whilst midway through the aura, he thought that I fought similar to my mother" said James
"Makes sense, your MS is similar in shape to what the AMX-004 Quebely was like as well as having similar weapons" said Rosemary
"Yeah, at least I don't have to train tomorrow, unlike you smucks" said James smiling smugly
"How come" said Yasako
"First day of Hanukkah, James gets a day off for the first and last days of it" said Leo
"You observe Hanukkah, James" said Rosemary
"Yeah my family celebrates both Christian and Jewish holidays" said James
"Have you got your Menorah ready for it" said Leo
"Yeah, I received a parcel that contains the one that my Grandma's parents had, I also received a Dreidel, some Chocolate Gelts and a few home made Sufganiyots" said James
"Have you got something to light the Menorah with" said Leo
"I may have forgot to bring a match or lighter with me" said James as Leo, Rosemary and Yasuko laughed at James' forgetfulness
"You can borrow my lighter, James, North Japanese officers are all given one with various other things" said Yasuko
"Thanks Yasuko, really appreciate it" said James
A P.A announcement then could be heard throughout the room
"May James Pickles report to Quattro Bajeena's office, I repeat may a James Pickles report to Quattro Bajeena's office" said the announcer
"Wish me luck" said James as he headed towards Quattro's office which was a former business office, James couldn't tell what Quattro's expression was as he was very stoic in terms of expressions.
"Sit" said Quattro gesturing James to sit down
"You put up quite a performance out there" said Quattro
"I'm surprised I was even able to keep up with you, even if it was for a little while" said James
"You both surprised me, yet at the same time you also were predictable as well" said Quattro
"Eh, what do you mean" said James
"The way you fight in your mobile suit, you fight similar to your mother in that you can be quite aggressive and very funnel dependant, but that Newtype technique took me by surprise" said Quattro
"How so" said James
"The level of power that your Newtype attack had, you put everything on the line in an attempt to defeat me" said Quattro
"If i'm going to show my worth, I may as well put everything on the line" said James
"But at what cost, the type of Newtype attack that you used can put yourself at danger, its why many of us Newtypes, your mother included avoid using that technique" said Quattro
"I feel that I can control it though" said James
"You passed out after you lost the battle simulation, had that been a real battle and you would of been a sitting duck to the enemy" said Quattro
"That would of been true, but what if the life spirit attack works at winning a battle, would it be all worth it" said James
"If it wins the battle, then it would be great, but if it doesn't then it going to be a waste of resources and energy" said Quattro
"What if we had a hard to defeat bunker that a MS simply can't clear out without heavy losses, then what happens" said James
"Thats why I'm teaching your division, to teach you how to use your MS effectively and efficiently" said Quattro
"So what do you recommend" said James
"Only you and Rosemary even bothered to work as a team, I get you just met Yasako, but her and Leo essentially became cannon fodder because you didn't consolidate as a team, Yasako and Leo are not Newtype's and thus not as naturally skilled as you and Rosemary which means they need to be extra supported on the battlefield" said Quattro
"True, although they rushed in so quickly, me and Rosemary couldn't react in time" said James
Quattro stood up and sighed before saying "Your as stubborn as your mother once was, your fighting style does match her in many ways, funnel heavy and a brute force way of winning battles"
"Through battle logs, I am aware that my mother defeated you in combat" said James
"Because the MS were a mismatch, she had the newest technology on hers, whilst mine was an ageing MS that had weathered an entire war" said Quattro
"What was my mother like in the Universal Century" said James
Quattro looked hesitant to answer James's question and said "How much do you know"
"I know through battle logs that she was a dictator and she ruled Neo-Zeon with 10 iron fists" said James
Quattro took a deep breath before saying "Haman was the regent to Mineva Lao Zabi on an asteroid called Axis, I actually trained Haman into becoming an MS pilot, however a tragic series of events saw Haman ascend into becoming Supreme Leader of Axis Zeon and was advocating views that I didn't believe in and I fled to form an rival faction called the AEUG, me and Haman next met as enemies as the AEUG and Neo-Zeon ended up at war with each other, I went into hiding as the First Neo-Zeon War took place where Haman became the leader of Neo-Zeon and began a huge near year long war against the Earth Federation and AEUG, a war that even saw a large city being nuked by a colony drop by the Zeon's, Haman's faction broke apart into Civil War and the Federation/AEUG alliance picked off the remnants, afterwards she ended up in an another dimension, she was a tyrant James, but one that was broken by the events of the Universal Century, but after she was teleported to a new dimension, she was able to gain a new lease of life, a second chance to live the life that was snatched away from her along with many others including myself whom were transported from the Universal Century"
"She worked for the Intergalactic Research Organization for a little while until just after I was born, she then worked odd jobs just to support me for a few years before she passed out due to over-exhaustion, afterwards she decided to use her piloting skills to good use and became an commercial pilot. I feel like she was trying to atone for her actions in the past by trying to be the best mother possible to me even if she did overwork herself" said James
"When I met Haman for the first time in many years, I did notice that she had mellowed and changed since the last time we spoke to each other, she did seem wary of the New Titans existence along with myself, I also hear your a really good basketball and soccer player" said Quattro
"Yeah I played both before being transported to my fathers dimension, I actually was doing really well in both sports before this whole stupid war had started, in fact I received this letter before the war started" said James as he pulls a letter out of his uniform pocket.

"Yeah, I also received offers to go play for the likes of Barnet, Chesterfield, Colchester United, Bristol City and Bradford City, as for Basketball I was doing okay, but the offers kept coming in soccer which I was convinced to focus more on" said James
"Are you hoping the offers are still available to you once the war ends" said Quattro
"Yeah, thankfully I received a cybernetic eye which has restored my depth perception" said James
"I noticed you don't wear your eyepatch anymore" said Quattro
"Thankfully, that eye patch was beginning to annoy me as well" said James
Suddenly a member of the Dilganese Postage Service had entered the room.
"Letter for James Pickles" said the postman
"I wonder what this could be" said James

Quattro thought for a bit before saying "If we capture Detroit before then, you can use the SPT Raptor to fly over to Bradford to play there, I will see if I can get the game televised intergalactically, to boost the morale of the troops"
"Are you sure, what about Royal Woods" said James
"Royal Woods is easier to take than Detroit as it is not as big and the Leni forces can't hold more than one city at a time due to lack of morale" said Quattro
"Okay, I'll send a letter back to them, lets hope we capture Detroit in time for the game" said James as he prepared to leave the room
"One more thing, James" said Quattro
"What's that" said James
"Don't make the same mistakes me and Haman made, live your best possible life and enjoy your holiday" said Quattro
"Thanks" said James as he left the room.
Montage
James enjoys his holiday. The upcoming MS simulations Quattro tries to get the group to work as a team with Yasako and Leo providing support for Rosemary and James in battle to avoid needless causalities, many times the group tries to fight Quattro for only Quattro to win by the narrowest of margin's, new movements were taught with James being highly receptive to them as he was able to use his SPT Raptor to its fullest limits and wasn't as dependant on the funnels.
The Final Training
"You've all worked hard so far and you have one final challenge, to defeat me as a team in the MS Simulator" said Quattro
The team entered the MS Simulators where they sortied into their usual suits, However Quattro this time sortied into a MSN-04II Nightingale which was stronger than the Sazabi.
"This exercise is the culmination of all your hard work as a team, your task is simple, defeat me in combat, this will also be a defence mission as you are to protect your battleships from MS attack and there will be one more surprise" said Quattro
All 4 of them were eager for the battle, but compared to the first time they faced Quattro, they were more organised.
"What is the one surprise" said Rosemary
Suddenly the MS Simulator began changing James's suit.
"What's happening, why are my MS controls and stuff all changing" said James
James's suit had changed to the AMX-004 Qubeley, his mother's old MS
"Why do my MS controls feel more basic compared to the ones I usually use for the Raptor" said James
"The other surprise is that James will be piloting the AMX-004 Qubeley which was his mother's old MS from the Gryps and First Neo-Zeon War" said Quattro
"It looks like a more basic version of the Raptor" said Leo
"You want holodeck changes, let me add some slight modifications, Holodeck change the colour of the Qubeley to Black and Gold as well as my team wearing the outfits from the show M.A.S.K Crusaders" said James as his MS changed colour and the team all had special space outfits.
"I see, lets begin" said Quattro as his MS began to charge at the team
"Me and Yasako will lead one front, Rosemary and Leo will lead an another, let Quattro waste some of his fuel, chasing us" said James
The group split into pairs and despite the tactic, Quattro was able to catch up with them due to the speed of his MS and pure skill. Leo would exchange beam sabres with Quattro, whilst Rosemary was able to provide a distraction by kicking the Nightingale .
"You've got my MS skill Rosemary, funnels activate" said Quattro as the funnels of his MS began to activate
"Timber" said Leo as he charged at the funnels
Meanwhile
"Do you think Quattro will get to us" said Yasako
"Not if Leo and Rosemary has him distracted" said James
"Do you think we'll be able to defeat the LPG" said Yasako
"With our training, its possible" said James
"Before the start of the battle, I put a letter in a draw of your MS cockpit, I wondered if you had received it" said Yasako
"I'll have a look at it" said James
"I will launch some ranged attacks, hold by behind the asteroid and wait for my mark" said Yasako
"Sure" said James as he took the letter and opened it, it was a love confession letter, Yasako had hidden feelings for James since she first laid eyes on him at the start of training.
James pushed his Qubeley out of the Asteroid only to find Quattros MS about to finish off Yasako's MS.
As Quattro was slightly distracted by Rosemary and Leo (he was holding them off with his MS's various weapons), he weren't aware of James's MS being nearby.
Suddenly in reaction to Yasako being in danger, James could hear a phrase repeat over and over in his head.
"Don't ever got no brain or nothing"
The phrase kept repeating in his head to the point where he began suffering immense headaches.
"Don't ever got no brain or nothing"
James noticed his blue pupils turning bright red and an menacing red aura began to engulf his MS.
"Don't ever got no brain or nothing" said James as he combined this power with his Newtype abilities to stop Quattro launching the finishing blow on Yasako's MS.
James's MS then appeared in Quattro's sight line, the Qubeley had a bright red aura, despite this aura Quattro couldn't sense that much Newtype pressure or even read it properly.
"I see you have finally appeared in the battle after letting your friends do all the hard work" said Quattro
James didn't respond and instead kept mumbling the same phrase over and over again, the red aura though was intensifying.
Quattro couldn't sense any psychic pressure which baffled him, meanwhile Rosemary and Leo were prepared to ambush a distracted Quattro and they did so by firing their long range weapons which threw Quattro and his MS off balance as he was too distracted by the aura.
However the Nightengale was stumbling towards the Qubeley whom the aura around was beginning to completly engulf the machine which gave it a bright red fiery appearance.
Quattro re-orientated his machine only for the Qubeley to be extremely close to the Nightengale, Quattro activated his MS's beam axe only for James to block it with the Qubeleys wings.
"How is that even possible, how are you able to do that" said Quattro knowing that the Qubeley's wings were usually vulnerable to beam sabers.
The Qubeley grabbed the Nightingale and started ripping it piece by piece, no matter what weapons the Nightingale tried to throw at it, it came back to strike the Nightingale.
Quattro realising the situation was futile, ejected the escape pod out of his MS. However it was quickly shot down by Rosemary.
Quattro had been defeated in the MS simulation.
Post-Battle
Rosemary, Leo and Yasako immediately celebrating in their simulation cockpits after the training battle had finished, Quattro was in shock, he didn't sense any Newtype pressure at all with James's MS, yet his suit was completely indestructible.
As soon as the battle was over, James snapped out of the mental trance that he had been in, he was breathing heavily and even coughed some blood, but after a few minutes he was back to his normal self.
The team were to stand at attention where they were congratulated by Quattro for their training and were given details on their next mission which was invaded Leni-controlled Detroit.
Quattro then sent a virtual message out to Dil about James's progress.
Meanwhile
Lawrence Pester and Tommy Pickles had managed to watch all of the MS Simulator battles as Lawrence's spies had managed to hack their way into Dilganese MS Simulator technology and they were able to watch it on a TV in Lawrence's office.
"Your nephew has talent as an MS pilot, I can give him that" said Lawrence
"He did inherit Haman's MS piloting ability" said Tommy
"I can tell, I remember when I teleported Haman into my office after she lost that First Neo-Zeon War, that must of been 16-17 years ago now" said Lawrence
"I am aware Haman used to work for you" said Tommy
"She did, good at forcing negotiations, its a shame that she ended up having that affair, she could of been a useful asset" said Lawrence
"Do you see anything that is not an asset" said Tommy
"No, all of humanity has assets to them, everybody has a price" said Lawrence
"Although I would never expect James to deploy the Everwood curse in battle" said Tommy
"The Everwood curse, what is that" said Lawrence interested
"Back when me and Dil were younger, we went to a haunted camp known as Everwood and it was basically haunted with a story of missing settlers and a ghost that haunted the campsite, me, Dil and a few of us managed to return the ghost to the settlers, but in return we were all cursed and if put under extreme stress or grief, can let the ghost of Bean consume us in exchange of a power boost, but it can put a risk to the mental or physical psyche of whoever uses it" said Tommy
"So its basically a Mr Hyde part of the personality" said Lawrence
"If you would compare our normal selves to Dr Jekyll, then you would be correct" said Tommy
"Interesting" said Lawrence
Later in the Presidents Office
Dil was reading reports on various battles that had been occurring during the war, the Dilganese have had the upper hand for the past few months, but the New Titans had managed to hold their defences firm.
"Dil, we have a report come through from the Michigan front" said Taylorinik
"What is it" said Dil
"Quattro's training report on the 17th Jefferson Squadron has come in" said Taylorinik
"May I have his report on James" said Dil
"Here you go" said Taylorinik handing Dil the report

James has shown to have good leadership skills as well as a natural piloting ability and a kind heart. However there are some concerns I have with regards to his Newtype ability and the final MS Simulation.
His Newtype moves can be at times too powerful, during one simulation he used a Newtype technique that could risk the life of the pilot using it, I suggest he controls his Newtype abillity if he wants to survive the war.
I digress, during the final MS Simulation battle, the group worked as a team before James's MS was engulfed in some sort of red aura, all I could hear was the same phrase 'Don't ever got no brain or nothing' before he tore my MS piece by piece. "Remember when we went to Camp Everwood when we were kids" said Dil
"I do, most surreal experience in my life" said Chuckie
"Do you remember the curse that ghost set on us that explored the mineshaft and are any of you affected by it" said Dil
"I have had the odd nightmare" said Chuckie
"I have muttered the phrase 'don't ever got no brain or nothing' a few times" said Lil
"I have a few headaches from it, from what I remember your father did research on the curse since he also went down the mineshaft" said Phil
"The curse can get passed down to family members" said Dil worryingly
"How do you know" said Phil
"James was affected by it during his MS simulation with Quattro according to the training reports" said Dil
"What do we do" said Lil

Stu entered Dil's office where Dil was sat on a chair overlooking a fireplace.
"You asked me to come here, Dil, what is this about" said Stu
"Dad, remember when you did research on the Everwood curse" said Dil
"I did, I couldn't find that much on how to fully stop it" said Stu
"It seems the curse is genetic as James has it" said Dil
"James is affected by the curse, how do you know" said Stu
Dil hands Stu, Quattro's report
"There is the proof, is there a way of containing it" said Dil
"There is one way that I was able to" said Stu
"What's that" said Dil
Stu pulled what appeared to be medication.
"Blood samples of Haman, Quattro and Amuro has allowed us scientists and inventors to come up with remedies to ensure Newtype's can live normal lives and it shown to work slightly against curses, but there's a catch" said Stu
"What's that" said Dil
"It briefly halts there Newtype powers for a while" said Stu
"I'm happy with that, we don't know what the Everwood affect can do to James's psyche" said Dil
