Note: Harry Potter was created by J. K. Rowling and is a Warner Bros. film series.
Months had passed since Christmas, but there were still several Christmas decorations at Hogwarts. Harry Potter and Hermione Granger volunteered to clean up the Christmas decorations that were in the gym. Ron Weasley was also there, but that was because Professor Snape ordered him to. Harry and Hermione didn't seem to mind cleaning things up, but Ron looked very upset.
As Harry was sweeping up the gym, he looked behind him and saw Ron laying on the floor. He sighed and said, "Get up, Ron."
Ron yawned and replied, "I don't want to."
Hermione gave Ron a disapproving look, while saying, "You're supposed to be cleaning up."
Ron reluctantly got up, while saying, "I don't get why you two volunteered to clean up this place. Unlike me, you guys had a choice. Professor Snape forced me to be here, because I kept refusing to show up to detention."
Hermione replied, "If you don't want to get further detentions, I suggest you start cleaning up."
Suddenly, an idea popped into Ron's head. Ron thought that he come up with a way to avoid having to do any work. He was so excited about his little plan that he started dancing around the gym. Harry and Hermione raised their eyebrows, while wondering what was going on with Ron. Ron said, "Guys, I have a great idea."
Harry asked, "What is it?"
Ron said, "Since you guys like cleaning up, you can do all the work. However, when Professor Snape asks who did the most work, you can tell him that it was me. That way, I can get away with slacking off."
Hermione angrily replied, "Ron, I'm not going to lie to my favorite teacher, so you can get away with being lazy. In fact, if you don't start doing your fair share of the work, I'm going to tell Professor Snape about how lazy you are."
Ron looked disappointed, while sighing and saying, "You sure knew how to ruin my brilliant plan. Some friend you are. I don't get why I ever had a crush on you."
Hermione had an offended look on her face, while replying, "Thanks a lot." She turned her back to Ron and went back to cleaning things up.
Ron nudged Harry and asked, "What's Hermione's problem?"
Harry replied, "If anybody has a problem, it's you. You have a laziness problem."
Ron proudly said, "Being lazy is something to have pride in. It keeps me from having to do a bunch of work that I don't want to, so it's nothing to be ashamed of."
Harry replied, "That doesn't change the fact that you were being kind of rude to Hermione."
Ron said, "I don't like offending Hermione. You should do something to make her happy."
Harry asked, "Why should I have to do anything? You're the one that made her mad."
Ron replied, "That's true, but I'm also the one that doesn't like doing work. For some reason, you like doing stuff. Because of that, you should find a way to make Hermione feel better."
Harry started sweeping near Hermione. While sweeping, he accidentally bumped into her. He nervously smiled and said, "I'm sorry about that."
Hermione replied, "It's no big deal. Let's just get this place cleaned up."
Harry looked around the gym and noticed how clean it looked. He smiled and said, "It looks like we've cleaned most of this place up."
Hermione replied, "That's great."
Harry looked up and noticed that there was still a mistletoe hung up in the gym. He also noticed that he and Hermione were standing under the mistletoe. As Harry was looking up, an idea suddenly sprung into his head. Before he could take the time to think things through, he kissed Hermione. Hermione felt very surprised to be getting a kiss from Harry. Harry nervously smiled and said, "Merry late Christmas, Hermione." Harry quickly walked away from Hermione and walked up to Ron.
Ron, who had been resting in the bleachers, had seen the kiss. He looked up at Harry, while asking, "What was that about?"
Harry started looking nervous, while saying, "I don't know. I guess I was being impulsive."
Ron said, "That's for sure. What did you think you were doing?"
Harry started pacing around Ron, while saying, "I'm not sure. You said that you wanted me to cheer Hermione up. When I noticed that she and I were standing under the mistletoe, I suddenly had the thought to kiss her."
Ron asked, "Did you think that getting a kiss from you would actually make her feel happy?"
Harry shrugged his shoulders and replied, "I don't know why I did that. I guess I was just being dumb."
Ron stood up and started patting Harry on the shoulder, while saying, "My dear friend, you have been known to do many dumb things. However, as foolish as you can be, I don't think that you're an idiot."
Harry raised an eyebrow, while asking, "Is that supposed to be considered a compliment?"
Ron said, "You could consider it one. I don't really like complimenting my friends, but for you, I'm willing to call you a few nice things."
Harry put his hand over his face, while thinking about what he had done. Hermione was one of his dearest friends, so he never wanted to do anything that would make her feel uncomfortable or awkward. Harry nervously said, "I fear that I may have messed things up with Hermione."
Ron calmly replied, "There's nothing to worry about."
Harry said, "But I kissed her."
Ron replied, "But it was a mistletoe kiss. That means it's a holiday kiss, not a romantic kiss."
Harry started feeling less nervous, while saying, "I suppose that's true. In that case, it might be no big deal."
A few minutes later, Hermione walked up the bleachers. She faced Harry and Ron, while saying, "I hope that you guys had a nice chat. I finished cleaning up the floor, while you were talking."
Harry looked guilty, while replying, "I'm sorry."
Hermione said, "You had already cleaned up a large portion of the gym, so you're okay." She pointed at Ron, while saying, "You are in trouble."
Ron had a confused look on his face, while asking, "Why am I in trouble?"
Hermione said, "Because you didn't do any of the work."
Ron replied, "It's no big deal."
Hermione folded her arms, while saying, "It's a big deal to me. Also, I'm sure that Professor Snape will be upset."
Ron replied, "Don't tell Professor Snape about me slacking off."
Hermione said, "I have to be honest, Ron."
Ron replied, "Honesty is overrated."
Hermione said, "I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to tell Professor Snape."
Ron nudged Harry and said, "Help me out."
Harry asked, "What do you want me to do?"
Ron said, "Tell Professor Snape that I did all of the work. Make you and Hermione sound like lazy liars, so that I can look like a great worker."
Harry replied, "I'm not going to do that."
Ron stared at Harry and Hermione, while saying, "I'm disappointed in you guys." Ron got up and said, "I'm going to go see if Neville will give me his lunch."
After Ron walked out of the gym, Harry turned his attention to Hermione. He still felt a little weird about the mistletoe, but he tried to hide his fear by looking calm. He said, "You did a great job at cleaning up the gym."
Hermione replied, "You also did a good job." She paused and said, "Well, you were doing a good job, until you stopped helping out so you could talk to Ron."
Harry nervously laughed and said, "I'm sorry about that. I guess I just got distracted."
Hermione replied, "It's okay. I better go tell Professor Snape about what Ron did."
Harry asked, "Do you have to?"
Hermione said, "Of course I do. Unlike you and me, Ron wasn't a volunteer. He had to help out, but he didn't do anything."
Harry replied, "I know that Ron does some questionable things, but he means well. Maybe we should give him a pass."
Hermione had an amused expression on her face, while saying, "You're quite the loyal friend to Ron. Even when Ron refuses to take responsibility for his actions, you still want to defend him."
Harry replied, "I suppose that's true. It seems like it's hard for me to not stand up for my best friend."
Hermione said, "That's sweet of you." She gave Harry a quick kiss and said, "I'll see you later."
As soon as Hermione left the gym, Harry started blushing with fear. He looked up and that the mistletoe was gone. That meant that Hermione's kiss wasn't a mistletoe kiss. Harry feared that meant that he was in trouble.
An hour later, it was lunchtime. Harry went into the cafeteria and sat next to Ron. Harry noticed that Ron didn't have any food with him, so he asked, "Did Neville refuse to share his lunch with you?"
Ron said, "He was going to share his lunch with me, but his lunch was disgusting. His lunch was so disgusting that I threw it into the wall."
Harry looked at the wall and saw that it was covered in pudding. He chuckled and said, "It seems like you're not a fan of pudding."
Ron replied, "I wasn't in the mood for it." Ron grabbed Harry's lunchbox and started digging through it. He said, "I hope you don't mind me taking your lunch."
Harry said, "I'll let you have it if you help me with a problem."
Ron proudly replied, "I'm one of the smartest wizards of all time, so if you have a problem, I'll be able to solve it."
Harry said, "I don't know what to do about Hermione."
Ron started playing with Harry's food, while saying, "Hermione is quite the troublemaker, but I think she'll be okay."
Harry replied, "You think that Hermione's a troublemaker? Do you even know what you're talking about?"
Ron said, "Like I told you, I'm super smart." Ron noticed that Harry had some pudding in his lunchbox, so he threw it at the wall.
Meanwhile, Hermione sat next to Ginny Weasley. Ginny used to have feelings for Harry, but things didn't work out between them. Hermione said, "Ginny, I was wondering if you could help me with something."
Ginny replied, "If you need help, you're smart to come to me. Unlike my brother, I know some things."
Hermione looked at the wall, while saying, "Your brother sure knows how to make a mess." She paused and said, "Anyways, I need help when it comes to Harry."
Ginny asked, "What's wrong with him?"
Hermione said, "I hope this doesn't make you mad, but Harry kissed me."
Ginny calmly replied, "My feelings for Harry are long gone, so I'm not mad at all. In fact, I'm happy. I always thought that you and Harry would be a good couple."
Hermione said, "That's really sweet of you. I was just so surprised. Out of nowhere, Harry started kissing me while we were cleaning up Christmas decorations. I don't know why he did that."
Ginny replied, "I think it's rather obvious why he did that. He has a crush on you."
Hermione said, "I suppose that's the only explanation that makes sense."
Ginny asked, "Did you kiss him back?"
Hermione answered, "I did."
Ginny smiled and said, "Then it's obvious that you and Harry both like each other."
Hermione replied, "When you put it like that, I guess things aren't as complicated as I thought they were."
Ginny said, "You should go to Harry. Now that you're on break, you can go kiss him."
Hermione blushed and replied, "I suppose that's true." Hermione got up and started walking up to Harry.
Ron walked up to Ginny, grabbed her lunchbox and asked, "Do you have anything good to eat?"
Ginny folded her arms and said, "I do, but that doesn't mean that you eat any of it."
After digging through Ginny's lunchbox, he sighed and said, "You have pudding." He grabbed the pudding and threw it at the wall.
Ginny looked upset, while asking, "What's your problem?"
Ron answered, "I'm just not in the mood for pudding."
A moment later, Hermione sat next to Harry and said, "Hi, honey."
Harry replied, "Um, hi, Hermione. What's up?"
Hermione smiled and said, "I just felt like coming by and telling you how I feel."
Harry asked, "How do you feel?"
Hermione said, "I feel like kissing you."
Harry raised his eyebrows and asked, "What are you talking about?"
Hermione kissed Harry and said, "That felt good."
Harry replied, "That felt weird."
Hermione looked a bit offended, while saying, "Don't try to act like you don't like being kissed by me. You're the one who started it. You kissed me in the gym."
Harry replied, "That's true, but it was just a mistletoe kiss."
Hermione had a confused look on her face, while asking, "What do you mean?"
Harry explained, "We were both standing under the mistletoe. Kissing under the mistletoe is a common thing to do around Christmas. I wasn't trying to be romantic."
Hermione started looking disappointed, while saying, "So, you didn't actually want to kiss me? You just wanted to do some kind of holiday tradition?"
Harry said, "Honestly, I don't know why I kissed you. It was just something that I randomly decided to do. I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression."
Hermione replied, "I guess it's okay."
Harry stopped and thought about what happened. He put his hand on his chin, while asking, "Did you kiss me because you like me?"
Hermione replied, "Of course! I thought that you kissed me for the same reason."
Harry said, "Like I said, I don't know why I kissed you. I was just being dumb."
Hermione looked offended, while saying, "I didn't realize that kissing me was such a dumb thing to do."
Harry replied, "It's not. Any guy would be lucky to kiss you."
Hermione said, "Oh, really? Why do you say that?"
Harry replied, "Because you're a truly beautiful person that I absolutely love." He paused and said, "I don't know why I said that."
Hermione couldn't resist grinning, while saying, "I know why you said that. You like me. In fact, I think you love me."
Harry heavily blushed, while replying, "I don't love you."
Hermione responded, "Your attempt at denying the obvious truth is adorable."
A few minutes later, Professor Snape walked into the cafeteria. He looked very angry, while walking up to Ron and saying, "I'm giving you more detentions."
Ron asked, "What for?"
Professor Snape said, "Ms. Granger told me about you slacking off when you were supposed to be cleaning up the gym."
Ron replied, "You can't believe everything that she tells you."
Professor Snape explained, "I had a security camera installed in the gym, so I saw everything that happened. I saw you avoiding work and attempting to get your friends to lie to me about you avoiding work."
Ron responded, "That's a rip-off."
Professor Snape said, "I also had a security camera put into the cafeteria, so I know that you're responsible for the giant mess on the wall. Go clean that up."
Ron angrily sighed and replied, "Okay."
Professor Snape walked by Harry, while saying, "Mr. Potter, I thought that you would know better than to kiss a fellow student during school hours."
Harry nervously replied, "I'm sorry about that, Professor Snape. To be honest, I don't know why I did that."
Professor Snape said, "It's obviously because Hermione's the love of your life."
Harry replied, "That's not true."
Professor Snape responded, "Your attempt at hiding the obvious truth is pathetic."
Harry looked back at Hermione, while saying, "I'm sorry about this awkward day."
Hermione smiled and replied, "You don't need to be sorry, because this has been a great day for me."
Harry shyly said, "Just so you know, I didn't hate kissing you."
Hermione replied, "Of course you didn't. It's obvious that you loved kissing me."
Harry blushed and responded, "That's not true!"
Hermione put her hand on Harry's shoulder, while saying, "Whenever you see a mistletoe, we can kiss."
Harry replied, "I suppose that could be a cute little tradition."
Hermione said, "Even when there's no mistletoe, we can kiss."
Harry blushed and replied, "Hermione!"
Hermione said, "So, are you ready for another kiss?"
Harry wanted to retain his dignity, so he folded his arms and said, "I'm not."
Hermione replied, "You're such a cute liar." Harry facepalmed.
