Chapter:2 I got you
The weekend went by in a whiff. Harvey was still trying to digest the fact that he finally met a girl that was beautiful inside out, was bold enough to call him out, had a good sense of people and was truly the person he could rely on at work. But donna was not just a good subordinate, she was equally amazing outside of work. Dating a girl that was not some arm candy rather a complete package of beauty and brains was something that Harvey had never experienced before and of course sex with Donna had been amazing. Turns out Donna had a good appetite for it and thanks to Harvey's active lifestyle, he was able to keep up with it. She knew what she liked, and Harvey was more than happy to oblige.
Dreading on not screwing up what he promised Donna, he quickly changes and gets to bed. Tomorrow is his first day back at work and he wants to be at his best.
Harvey is pacing at the entrance of the building, to avoid suspicion Donna told him to not pick him up and instead wait for him near the entrance of Pearson Hardman. He spots Donna getting out of the cab and immediately walks towards her. A natural instinct to kiss her and Donna immediately dodges him and puts a hand firmly to his chest she says, "Easy there tiger no touchy feely at work." They take the elevator together and once the door to the floor opens, they start walking towards his office, until someone calls out his name.
Turning around they run straight into a balding short man who Donna immediately recognizes as Louis Litt. Harvey had already mentioned about him to Donna over the weekend. Louis looks at Harvey and says, "Harvey what are you doing here, you are not supposed to be back for another 2 years, 3 months and 5 days not that I am keeping a track of things".
"Change of plans, I am back today".
Giggling Louis looks at Donna and says, "who is your girlfriend", hesitant he opens his mouth and then quickly closes, Donna notices that and quickly pitches in "Oh I am not his girlfriend, I am his girl Friday".
"Really, Junior partners don't get secretaries".
Harvey smugly replies, "I am not like other junior partners, and she is not like other secretaries".
"Bullshit"
Harvey simply says "Donna" and Donna goes "okay Listen rain man, you wear lifts in your shoes, and you want braces, but you don't have the balls and you have a cat that you love more than it loves you", Louis is shocked to say the least. Harvey pats him on his back and says, "good to see you Louis" and all Louis mumbles "I need a day".
Walking down the hallway, Harvey says, "Phew that was close, how am I going to do this Donna", Donna simply looks at him and says, "I got you". They reach his office and run straight into Jessica who is waiting for him. "Jessica, it's good to see you. This is my secretary Donna Paulsen, Donna this is…. before Harvey could finish, Donna takes a step forward and completes the introduction "Jessica Pearson, youngest senior partner and the first female lawyer to have her name up on the wall. Nice to meet you".
Jessica is impressed and starts to get a hint that there is more to this woman than just a pretty face. She simply smiles and nods at Donna and tells Harvey, "We need to talk". Donna takes that as a clue and goes around to settle down in her chair.
"Harvey now that you are here, I want to let you know that I cashed in my perk as a name partner by nominating you as one employee of my choice to be promoted as a junior partner. Now Daniel was not very happy with this decision since you were not working in the firm, but now that you are here, I want you to play good and show the man that I wasn't wrong to put your name upfront."
Staring him straight in the eye she continues "Don't let me down". Nodding Harvey says, "I won't".
"Okay, come one now I want to introduce you to Daniel Hardman".
"Daniel, I want you to meet Harvey Specter, Harvey this is our Managing partner Daniel Hardman".
"Harvey good to see you, welcome to the firm. Jessica here has talked a lot about you and now that you are here, I want to see you prove your worth. Its customary for the managing partner to give a new junior partner their first case. So, why don't you get going and sign up with McKernon Motors. I see they are looking for an outside council".
Jessica knows that McKernon is not an easy client and its very difficult to convince their CEO Avery McKernon, and although she trusts Harvey's capability she knows if he fails, Daniel will not let this ride out easy.
Harvey immediately gets to research on the client and sets up an appointment with them for Wednesday, this gave him enough time to prepare for his meeting. Meanwhile Daniel asks Louis to sign up with Fletcher engines and promised if he could sign them up, he would be promoted as a junior partner.
Harvey was working hard, it didn't look like it was just his 1st week in the firm. Donna and Harvey didn't meet at all outside of work and as Harvey continued to immerse in his work, the easier it got to sail through their secret.
Wednesday came by soon and Harvey asks donna to join him for a quick bite for lunch with him. They grab some bagel and coffee from the vendor near the office. They talk a bit about his meeting and Harvey was confident that he would sign up with them. Throwing the napkin in the bin nearby they get up and Donna gives him a chaste kiss on the lips.
Harvey goes wide eyes "Hey, what was that for, huh…. aren't you afraid that someone would see us". Donna simply shrugs and says, "Good Luck". Smirking, Harvey gives her arms a gentle squeeze and says "Thanks". He turns around and starts to walk towards the curb to catch a cab and hears Donna saying, "Let me know how it goes". Without turning around, he simply says "I will".
Once Donna is back at her place, she starts to work on organizing Harvey's calendar. She notices Louis walking towards her, he had a skip to his walk and was smiling so hard that she could count all his teeth.
"Louis, you look happy. Did your cat give birth to any kittens"?
"What? How did you discover my cat was expecting? never mind, where is Harvey?
"Harvey is with a client what did you need him for",
"Nothing just wanted him to know that we are soon going to be at the same level, you heard it first" and with that he just turned around and went by.
Donna immediately understood that he is becoming a junior partner and quickly pulls out her phone to text Harvey, but see's that he sent her a text message saying, "Nailed It".
Its later in the evening when Harvey is working on the paperwork with Donna that he sees Jessica entering his office. "Jessica, if you are here for celebratory drinks, I am all for it".
"Harvey I am sorry, but you will have to drop McKernon motors."
"What? Why?"
"Well apparently, there is a conflict of interest, we signed with Fletcher engines."
"When? Who signed with them"?
"Today, they are Louis's client".
Donna immediately pitches in "That's why he walked in smugly saying he is being promoted to junior partner".
"Junior partner, who is promoting him" Harvey says.
"Hardman, he is the one still pending to use his vote to nominate a junior partner".
"Son of a bitch". Harvey quickly gets up from his chair and rounds the table.
Jessica immediately stops him "where do you think you are going".
"To talk to Daniel, he can't do this. I have a case that I am defending for McKernon motors on Friday. I can't drop him Jessica, I gave him my word."
"You do you Harvey, let me talk to Daniel, you will not talk to him about this. I don't want you to get on his wrong side". With that she leaves his office.
Donna tries to put her hand on Harvey's arm to calm him down, but he was so furious, he jerked her hand and said "Leave me alone Donna" …
"Harvey" ….
"I said just leave me alone".
Feeling miffed, Donna turns around and decides to pack her things and call it a day.
