Spencer couldn't stop smiling as he maneuvered the car towards the lake. He had a surprise for Trina! Their last activity for this part of Maine and she was sure to love it.
"What are you up to, Spencer? You have yet to tell me what the plans are for today? Is it another safari? A hike? Are we going to stalk another animal?" Trina questioned, her curiosity getting the best of her.
"It wouldn't be a surprise if I told you," Spencer chuckled, taking her hand in his. "Look, just relax and enjoy the trip. Your man has everything handled."
Trina chuckled and turned her attention back to the road and scenery, looking for any clue of what Spencer had planned. He was refusing to tell her anything about their next adventure. "Can't you give me a little hint?"
"Hmm...think about the video Karma Kameleon by the Culture Club," Spencer smirked, wondering if Trina would even know what he was talking about.
"Why? What does this have to do with 80's music?"
Spencer just laughed and kissed her hand. "It'll all be clear in just a few minutes."
It didn't take long for Spencer to pull up in front of what looked to be a huge old-fashioned riverboat. Trina gasped in fascination and looked at Spencer with wide excited eyes. "
"Spencer, is that what I think it is?!"
"Yes, of course, it is," Spencer laughed. "Welcome to The Katahdin!"
"Can we actually ride on it, or is it a museum?"
"We can actually take a cruise on it. A three-hour one in fact. This is Moosehead Lake, the largest lake in Maine and we are scheduled to board soon, so we better get in place."
"Oh my god, really?!"
"Really!" Spencer laughed, thinking that Trina was honestly the most adorable girl in the world.
"Wait, we have to take a selfie in front of the ship! I want to send Joss a picture! She wants to live vicariously through us!" Trina giggled, holding her phone up as she and Spencer stood in front of the steamboat. "Say, I'll never let go!"
"I'll never let go," Spencer smiled, wrapping his arms around Trina as she took the picture. She happily turned around in his arms and enjoyed a long luxurious kiss. "Thank you."
"Anything for my riverboat queen."
"Question though...what does the Culture Club have to do with this?"
Spencer laughed. "Nothing at all. The location of the video was on a riverboat...so…"
"Ah, okay. I understand," Trina laughed.
"Come, let's go get in place. They'll be calling our name to board soon."
…..
Spencer recorded Trina on his phone as she stood before the wheel of the ship, steering it, listening to the captain talk about the history of the ship. The older gentleman seemed to be just as entranced by Trina's sweetness as Spencer himself already was.
"Spencer! I'm steering the ship!" Trina happily giggled, glancing at her boyfriend.
"I see that, babe. You're doing a good job!" Spencer grinned. "Watch out for icebergs now! I don't want to become a Spencer-cycle, thank you very much."
"Haha," Trina just rolled her eyes and turned back to her task at hand.
One hour later, they found themselves standing on the deck of the ship against the railing, just looking a the surrounding mountains in the distance and the beautiful water below. Trina stood in front while Spencer stood behind her, his arms around her waist, holding her close.
"It's so beautiful here," Trina happily sighed, feeling like all the problems in her world were finally far far away. All that was here, all that mattered was herself and Spencer.
"A beautiful place for a beautiful girl," Spencer sighed, kissing her cheek.
Suddenly, Trina stretched her arms out to her side and giggled. "I know it's not the bow, but I'm flying Spencer!"
"You are insane!" Spencer laughed as he stretched out his arms and threaded his fingers through hers, imitating the movie scene. "What was the song he sang to her?"
"Hmm...Come Josephine in my flying machine and it's up she goes...up she goes…," Trina sang. To be honest, she had become so obsessed with that movie, that she knew the song by heart, but she wasn't willing to let on to that.
"I'm supposed to kiss you now," Spencer whispered into her ear, causing Trina to shiver a little from the desire she felt for him.
"What's stopping you?" She turned her head just for their eyes to meet. All words fled as she saw the heated desire in his eyes. She brought her hand up to the back of his head, just like in the movie as he claimed her lips in a deep passionate kiss, resembling the famous scene of that famous movie that Trina loved so much.
…..
When they returned to the lodge, Spencer went right for his computer. He just had a feeling that he should check his email.
"Spencer?" Trina frowned, watching her boyfriend boot the device up. "What are you doing?"
"Checking my email. I'm hoping that Uncle Martin has news about Ace. Like he's happily living with Sam and Dante and is far far away from Esme."
"It makes me sick that my mother is the reason she made bail," Trina sighed, placing the purchases she had made at one of the small shops in Greenville on the bed.
"It's not your fault, sweetie. You don't control your mother. Just like I never controlled my crazy Uncle."
Trina sat and watched as his face lit up when he saw his inbox. "Is there news?"
"Yes. Hopefully good news," Spencer opened the mail and began to read. "Dearest nephew. Baby Ace is now in the custody of your cousins Sam and Dante and is safely living in the same penthouse building as your Uncle Sonny, who has guards keeping an eye out for Esme, just in case she tries something. Yes! Yes, that is such good news!"
Spencer nearly whooped with joy. "Esme's probably pissed!"
"Is there any word about her?" Trina asked, curious. Something told her that Spencer's ex was not out of their lives yet.
"None. I wonder what's become of her…"
"I can call Joss. See if she's heard anything," Trina suggested.
Spencer paused, not really sure if he wanted to know Esme's whereabouts. He had only cared about Ace's safety and care. Now that was secured, he could fully let go and enjoy this trip. He didn't need, nor did he want to think about Esme. Then again, maybe forgetting about her wouldn't be a good idea. An idle Esme was a dangerous Esme. He needed to be ready for anything. Ignoring her existence would not keep him, nor Trina safe.
"I think you better call."
Trina turned on her phone and dialed Joss's number, hoping for some answers.
"Trina, hey! Why are you calling? Wait, did Spencer do something? Of course, he did, What did he do?" Joss questioned.
Trina giggled. "Hey Joss! Spencer didn't do anything. In fact, he is so perfect! He took me on a cruise on a river boat and we reenacted the flying scene on Titanic! It was so romantic! Did you get my pictures?"
"Yes, I got them! They're awesome! I feel like I'm there with you guys! So why are you calling since everything is perfect?"
"Spencer and I were wondering if you had heard anything more about Esme. His Uncle Martin said that everything was quiet on that front, but I don't know. I was hoping that you may have heard something?"
"Um, she's no longer living with Spencer's grandmother. That's something."
"Really? Do you know where she is staying?"
"A room over Kelly's. I tried to talk my mom out of letting her stay there, but she said that she needed the rent money," Joss sighed, remembering the small argument that she had with her mother that afternoon. "I almost feel sorry for her now that she no longer has Ace to shield her."
"I don't feel sorry for her at all! She deserves everything that's coming for her," Trina's voice was harsh and nearly hateful. She couldn't help but hate Esme for what she had done to Spencer. He was so broken because of that witch and Trina wanted her to pay.
"Wow, Trina. I never heard you sound so angry."
"She posted revenge porn of my best friends. She framed me for it and most of all...she was abusive to my man. She especially needs to pay for that."
"Trina, I never heard you sound so...badass. I like it," Joss chuckled.
Trina just rolled her eyes. "Well, I'm glad that we don't have to see Esme anytime soon. Spencer is safe out of her reach, so I don't have to pull out that hair of hers by the roots."
"I'll keep you posted if anything changes with her, I promise. But for now...get to boning that delicious-looking scoop of vanilla ice cream, alright?"
"You do know that you're on speaker, right? He can hear everything."
"Trina!"
Trina laughed as the mortified Joss hung up.
"What was that she called me?" Spencer was laughing himself.
"A delicious scoop of vanilla ice cream...even though, I think you're more like a hot fudge rockie road…," Trina's smile was seductive and Spencer could swear that she was somehow purring.
"Errand boy is falling down on the job, huh?"
"I don't want to talk about him," Trina walked over to him and began fiddling with his belt.
"What do you want to talk about?"
"Who said I wanted to talk at all?" Trina arched a brow, her heated brown eyes meeting his. "You know what I want."
"That I do. Kitty needs to be petted…"
"That's right...so get to petting."
"Don't have to be asked twice," Spencer pulled her to him and claimed her lips in a passionate kiss that led to so much more.
