With the first elimination shaking the game, the players must take extra precautions with the race if they ever hope to win. With this, the need for Stand abilities becomes all the more clear, and in desperation, one sly right hand man will cross paths with another group in the hopes to gain a Stand ability.
The Next Morning…
After the announcement of the elimination, Jim and his team have become a bit more wary through the night, taking shifts to watch out for anyone out to get them. Luckily, that wasn't the case, and the group made it through the night.
Jim woke up from the sleeping bag to see Marinette preparing their items before leaving.
"Wow. it seems you're up early." Jim commented.
"Doesn't help that I took up the last bit of the night watch." Marinette stated. "Are you hungry?"
"Nope. Maybe later." Jim puts the offer down. "How about some water?"
"Here. I think we should start packing. Once Steve comes back from his jog, we better hit the road." Marinette stated.
Suddenly, something manifested from Marinette's earrings. Since the girl doesn't have a Stand, this manifestation was immediately recognised as Tikki, the kwami that has given her powers.
"I may have to remind you that your positions are near the 25th place, where most of the racers are concentrated." Tikki told the two.
"She's right. With the nature of the Stand abilities, we can't afford to stay put for too long during the day, even with our abilities." Marinette stated.
"You're right. Need help with the packing?" Jim asked.
"Do you even have to ask?" Marinette answered with another question.
Steve Palchuk was seen jogging up to a clearing under a canyon structure. Because of the intense heat from the sun even at this hour, the jock was almost worn out, so he had to rest under some shade.
"Well. That was quite the endurance test." Steve was exhausted. "Man, how do camels and horses endure this?"
As Steve was about to drink some water, some loud footsteps were heard around the canyon. Fearing the worst, Steve goes into a fighting stance.
"Alright. I've been aching to use this thing since I got it." Steve smirked in anticipation as he glowed a blue aura. "Time to test out my Stand."
"Wait!"
"Huh?"
Steve was caught off guard by this as Talon turned the corner towards him without a horse. The dude was sprinting and cowering like he saw a ghost.
"You've gotta help me man! Where's the nearest town I can hide in?!" Talon asked in a panic.
"Whoa! Calm down, dork!" Steve tried to get the dude to calm down. "Hold on. What's got you riled up?"
"That ice dancer that eliminated someone last night! She's on a warpath towards her next target, me! With her Killer Queen! And I don't even have a Stand for goodness' sake!" Talon panicked.
Steve was slightly skeptical of the last statement. So as a measure, he summons two of his Stand's arms in front of him to do gestures in front of the guy to see if he will notice. He tries waving its hands and snapping its fingers to see if he would react. But Talon hasn't taken notice of the gestures, meaning he truly wasn't a Stand User at the moment.
"Well, the ice dancer is truly out to get ya, huh?" Steve asked. "Did she follow you here? Answer me."
Suddenly, more footsteps were hood from the part of the canyon Talon ran from, and this was more like horse gallops this time.
"Oh no! She's here! We better hide!" Talon pulled Steve's hand.
"Whoa!"
Talon and Steve jump into cover behind some rocks as the gallops become louder and louder. Steve peeked out of cover, waiting for an opportunity to ambush the dangerous ice dancer with his Stand.
"So, any idea what her Stand can do?" Steve asked without dropping his guard.
"Why are you asking me? It's not like I can see the thing." Talon says as he sneakily reaches behind him.
"Oh, right."
As Steve tried to continue his lookout for Josee, he suddenly felt something sticky attaching his arm to the rock.
"What the?!" Steve exclaimed.
Steve turns to see his arm contained in a large bubble gum entrapment. The guy turns to see Talon firing more shots from his bubblegum launcher, quickly encasing the guy in bubble gum while leaving his head and legs exposed.
"Hey! What's the meaning of this?!" Steve asked.
"Look, man. I'm running out of supplies at the moment. And with your group basically being stocked up for days, it's hard to resist." Talon smirked as he spun his bubble gum launcher.
"Ohoho, you have no idea what you've done-" Steve was suddenly interrupted by getting his mouth closed shut by the bubble gum launcher.
"Don't wanna hear it. I'll be able to walk in and out of your group like so." Talon smirked in confidence.
Talon turns a setting on his specialized watch. In a flash of light, Talon was then seen disguised as Steve, with his outfit, hair, and accessories galore. This caused Steve's eyes to widen in surprise.
"The good old disguise trick. As easy as that." Talon smirked.
Steve just gave an unimpressed look at this. Even with the outfit, Talon's frame and facial structure were still very much the same.
"Oh, come on. Cut me some slack here." Talon groaned.
Suddenly, a blue light emanated above them. The two turn to see a singular rift in the sky, along with the care package that dropped out from it.
"Well well well. Supplies AND a Stand to go with this looting spree." Talon smirked as he saw this. "A double whammy if I ever saw one."
Talon then began to walk away from Steve, making his way to the group's camp site.
"Have fun, dude." Talon laughed. "Oh, and if the ice dancer actually comes through here, I went through the effort of making the gum extra visible for her to see. Ciao."
Hearing this, Steve began to struggle and get out of his entrapment as Talon made his way to the campsite.
Back at the campsite, Jim and Marinette noticed the large care package coming their way.
"We better make sure the area's safe before we open it." Jim stated,
"Already on it." Marinette says as her earrings glowed red. "Tikki, spots on."
In a flash of red light, Marinette has transformed into her superhero identity, Ladybug. She then uses her yo-yo to grapple onto the still falling care package and get pulled up. Once she reaches the care packages, she begins to look around for any potential enemies.
"What do you see?" Jim asked.
As Marinette scouts the area, she doesn't see anything out of the ordinary. She does, however, see Talon running towards them in the Steve disguise. Unfortunately, she doesn't notice this as an imposter, believing him to be the actual Steve Palchuk.
"Nobody nearby. Just Steve coming back from the jog." Marinette answered.
"Alright then." Jim gave a thumbs up.
Marinette slowly hovers down using her yo-yo, and Talon arrives just as she reaches the ground.
"I came as soon as I saw it. Was there anyone else you saw?" Talon asked while doing the best Steve impression he could.
"Luckily there isn't anybody nearby." Marinette briefed the guy on the matter.
"Even if that is the case, I suggest you all waste no time obtaining the arrow and the supplies." Tikki appeared from her apprentice.
Talon visibly jumped at the sight at Tikki. He didn't know much about Steve's other group members, let alone the kwami of the Miraculous Ladybug.
"Steve. What's wrong?" Jim asked.
"Ugh… what is that?" Talon slowly tested the waters by asking a question.
"What do you mean? This is Tikki, I already told you she was the kwami who gave me my powers." Marinette says.
Realizing the situation might get worse if he pressed further on the matter, Talon decided to keep quiet. This, however, causes the two to get confused because of his reaction.
"We've been talking to her and her kwami for several days. How come you forgot about it?" Jim asked.
"I'll be honest, the way you reacted was just rude." Tikki comments.
"Look. Maybe this heat is getting to my head." Talon lied to the two. "I'll just sit and rest for a moment."
"Well, if that's the case, make sure you get up as soon as the care package lands." Marinette stated. "As soon as the care package lands, we leave. Can you understand?" Marinette asked.
"Crystal clear." Talon smirked mischievously.
Back with Steve in his entrapment, he eventually gets worn out from trying to pry himself free. Seeing no other choice, he decides to concentrate his Stand ability whilst glowing blue.
"The Hand!" Steve yelled out despite the gum shutting his mouth.
Steve's Stand appears in front of him, appearing blue and white with touches of yellow in certain areas and with attire similar to football pads. A towel was draped over its shoulders, with a dollar sign on one end and a yen sign on the other. On the sides of its face are two vertical blinders that partially cover its headlight-shaped eyes. And specifically on its right hand are two large bumps on the palm with spider web designs.
The Hand's right hand glows a deep green aura, and it swipes away the bubble gum from Steve's mouth. The bubble gum swiped away seemed to be erased from existence after touching the Stand's right hand.
"Now for the rest of it." Steve says as his mouth was uncovered.
With multiple swipes of its right hand, The Hand scrapes away all of the bubble gum encasing Steve. Just like before, the bubble gum just gets straight up erased after being touched by its right hand.
After being free from the bubble gum, Steve stood up and struck a pose with his Stand.
"This is The Hand. If activated, whatever its right hand touches will be erased from existence." Steve monologues. "This ability is very strong. I better use it to stop Talon before he does something stupid.
Back at the campsite, the care package has already landed. Jim opens it to see a whole truckload of supplies, but immediately reaches in for the Stand Arrow stashed inside.
"So, who do you think should get the Stand ability?" Jim asked.
"Want to play Rock Paper Scissors for it?" Marinette asked.
"Oh, you're on." Jim accepts the challenge.
Once the two heroes got their hands ready, Talon knew this was his chance. He slowly approaches the two as they start their game of chance.
"Rock."
"Paper."
"Scissors."
"Shoot!" Talon yelled out once he was near the arrow.
In a single moment, Talon slices himself in the wrist with the arrow still in Jim's hand. Before the two can process what had happened, the entire area gets covered in light as the villain absorbs the power of the arrow.
Once that was over, the two were stunned by the action taken by who they believed was Steve.
"What the- did you use the arrow again? You already have a Stand, Steve!" Jim exclaimed in confusion.
"Oh, I'm sorry, what did you say my name was again?" Talon asked in his normal voice.
The two gasped as they realized someone impersonated their friend. Talon deactivates his disguise and returns to his normal outfit.
"Sorry to be the bearer of bad news." Talon strikes a pose as he taunts the two. "You thought I was Steve, but it was I, Talon!"
Seeing this quickly becoming a problem, the two heroes nodded in agreement that they need to stop this.
"For the good of all, Daylight is mine to command!" Jim uses Merlin's Amulet to don his Trollhunter armor.
"Tikki! Spots on!" Marinette calls out her kwami's power, becoming Ladybug once more.
"Well, isn't that a spectacle." Talon clapped at this, beginning to be amused.
"We may not have Stands, but our abilities may be enough to fend you off." Jim says as he pointed Excalibur at the enemy. "Now what happened to Steve? What did you do with him?"
"I don't think that's the question you should be asking at a time like this." Talon smirked.
"If that's how you're gonna act? Fine. Bring it on." Marinette says with determination.
"Alright then. Step the fuck up. I dare ya!" Talon yells as he pulls out a fighting stance.
Alright, the third official fight of the revamp. It is now a battle for survival as Talon, a newly made Stand User goes up against the Trollhunter and the Miraculous Ladybug. With Steve in the sidelines for a while, how will these two survive? Find out next time!
