Chapter 6 - Preparations for War

"Lila Rossi, Lila Rossi, Lila Rossi," Officer Roger sighed. "Can't help you Ladybug. I checked everywhere, including some old contacts from the Italian Military Information Service, and even a few friends from other groups, but there is nothing on Lila Rossi. It is almost as though she never existed."
Ladybug sighed. She walked out the police office, then looked at Gran Torino and told him what she learned.
The elderly man took a deep breath and said, "Whoever this Chrysalis is, she didn't do this just for publicity. She did it to make it clear that you are facing something far more dangerous than Hawk Moth."
Ladybug looked at him, then asked, "What do you think is her endgame? Revenge?"
"I am sure that is part of it." Torino replied. "But I suspect there is more to it than that. If there is any villain I can remember facing that reminds me of this Chrysalis person, it is Number 6. Both were masters of infiltration and disguise, and both were obsessed with fame. If my hunch is correct, Chrysalis is going to do whatever she can to destroy you and everything you care about. She'll drive everything into chaos to do this, making villains to attack and humiliate you, while also building up strength. Then, when she has done everything that she set out to do, she will personally see to your demise."
"That sounds much worse than Hawk Moth!" Ladybug exclaimed. "There has to be a way to stop her! Any idea how we can find her?"
"No clue," Gran Torino said. "My theory is that she may be playing with a number of identities to keep you from finding out which person she is. Not to mention that she joined forces with the League of Villains. If she finds a way to break All For One out of prison-"
"I'll make a magical charm to keep that ego maniac from getting any akumas," Ladybug said. "Him, and any of the prisoners. We'll also have to exercise extreme caution in case Chrysalis finds out where he is."
"Good plan," Gran Torino said. "Now, I think I'll need to give you a brief about the League. In turn, I'll need to know everything about Lila Rossi and the Moth brooch."
"Deal," Ladybug said.
As Marinette got back to her room, she looked at her yoyo and watched the video of her battle with Chrysalis again. She watched as she knocked out Bakugo, and Chrysalis akumatized him as well.
It was that particular scene that bothered her. Even if Lila - if that was even her real name - was able to get the Moth Brooch, she shouldn't have enough knowledge in the jewel to be capable of akumatizing as many people as she wanted. Hawk Moth, who was an adult holder, was only able to create one akumatized villain at a time. The only time she remembered him akumatizing as many villains as he wanted was when he became Scarlet Moth.
She sighed, then began thinking of her rivalry with the girl who became Chrysalis. Lila Rossi, a master of manipulation with such a horrible personality that she made Chloe look like a mere sobbing child. If she hadn't gotten her upset, then maybe she wouldn't have gotten the moth brooch after her battle with Gabriel.
Now she was back, and armed with the secrets of Gabriel Agreste - as well as her secret identity.
Marinette sighed. Tikki flew next to her and patted her on the back. "It's okay, Marinette. You'll be able to defeat this villain. I am sure of it!"
"I hope so, Tikki," Marinette said, then sighed. "But it will be difficult defeating her. It took me almost an entire year to prove that Lila was nothing but a liar, and she was able to get me expelled, hated, and nearly akumatized. Now I learn that she is a complete ghost, so I am afraid I may be unable to stop her from completing her goals."
"And those goals are?"
"The end of Ladybug, and everything she represents."
Meanwhile, Cerise pinned the pictures of the new heroes she had seen in action - Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, Shoto Todoroki, Iida Tenya, Ejiro Kirishima and Momo Yaoyorozu. She took out her phone and watched the battle again. She turned to the League and asked, "So, what do you think will be the best way to injure the heroes?"
"What you did was good, but is probably going to get us all arrested," Tomura said. "Try thinking of this as an RPG, a game in which your actions will have consequences and rewards."
"I am not a gamer," Cerise stated, looking at her wigs.
"Well, then I will tell you what I mean. That attack you did was bold, but you donn't have enough health points, even with your secret identity and ability to hide in the shadows," Tomura said. "Even with all the criminals we broke out, the heroes identity, and chaos we caused, Ladybug and Cat Noir have too much experience to be defeated by you. If you want to crush them, then think of it as a simulation - as a game of chess."
"Hawk Moth played that game in the past, and was destroyed by his greed," Cerise said.
"I read the news articles," Dabi replied, standing up. "He played checkers, not chess. He simply kept on attacking until he got an advantage and took advantage of that new found power. You already have that power, but you shouldn't be wasting it for popularity."
Cerise glared at them, then sighed. "So how do we overcome a hero with the power of luck, if not by destroying her reputation piece by piece?"
"Taking away her life, piece by piece," the burnt villain responded.
Cerise nodded, then smiled as an idea came to mind. "Nooroo, Dark Wings, Rise!" she yelled, and transformed into Chrysalis.
She closed her eyes, and called a butterfly into her hand. Catching it, she transferred the dark energy into the butterfly. Walking to her dresser, she grabbed one of her mannequins and tossed it to Tomura. "All of you put your hand on that," she ordered.
"What are you thinking?" Tomura asked.
"You want to cause chaos, do you not?" Chrysalis asked. "Well, I am going to give you the power you need to cause that chaos."
Tomura smiled. "Where do you want us to strike?"
"The Dupain's Bakery," Chrysalis replied, allowing the akuma to float around them. "The Couffaine Houseboat. The Agreste Mansion. The Statue of Ladybug and Cat Noir. Anywhere that has some kind of connection to the heroes."
"What if we get caught?" Himiko asked, curious and terrified.
"Do not worry," Chrysalis said. "Since you had powers before I akumatized you, you will be much more powerful than those heroes. Not to mention that, when all is said and done, Kurogiri will pick you up."
"A power-up that will make us far more dangerous than we already are?" Tomura asked. "Yes, please."
He placed his hand on the mannequin, as did the other League members. Chrysalis sent the akuma to the mannequin and allowed it to enter the object. Smiling, she looked at the league, now connected to her mind, and said, "League of Villains, I am boosting your powers to their full potential. All I want you to do is destroy everything that has to do with Ladybug and Cat Noir - and their secret identities."
Dark smoke covered the Leagues body, and Chrysalis smiled sadistically as she thought of the malicious chaos she was going to bring to Marinette.
