Chapter 12
As we continue our journey, we find a Kimono Girl, who says, "Kimono Girl, Kimono Girl, lost and all alone. Poor girl lost in the dark Ilex Forest."
"Hey, did we meet in Violet City before?" I ask the girl, who says, "What? You remember me from Violet City? You must be imagining."
"Really?" We are confused, but we realize that the two of them might have the same costume and make-up, but they might be different people.
"Anyway, will you show me how to get out of this forest?" The Kimono girl asks.
"We will." Lillie says.
"Aren't you lost in the forest as well? How do you know the way to get out of here?" The Kimono girl asks.
"We have our ways." I say as Pikachu jumps down from my shoulder to lead the way. After finding the exit, the girl leaves and bids farewell to us.
One night, when we are sleeping, Ethan accidentally places the Togepi egg outside, and it is stolen by a Gligar, the other 4 Pokemon notice it and they chase after the egg, and eventually, the egg hatches into Togepi and use Metronome to defeat the Gligar.
The next morning, when we woke up, we were surprised to see two Togepi. Reisa says, "It seems like your egg has hatched."
Kris says, "Yeah, we should call Professor Elm for the good news."
When we call him, he asks to see what the Togepi can do, but much to our surprise, Ethan's Togepi is searching through his backpack to find a set of poker cards and play with them.
"Is he seriously playing poker cards?" East asks. "I mean... we do play those before sleeping..."
"A hatched Pokemon who knows how to play poker cards... this sure is something I've never heard of..." Professor Elm says. "So where are you guys right now?"
"We're at Route 34." I say.
"If that's the case, there should be a Day Care nearby. The couple working there must know about Togepi's secrets." Elm suggests.
After we ended the call, we headed to the Day Care and we gasped to see a lot of small Pokemon around us.
"Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Smoochum, Elekid, and Magby?" We are surprised to see the six little ones, but then we notice an elderly woman needs help.
"Can you help me catch them... my leg was hurt..." She asks.
We decided to help capture the six baby Pokemon. After getting them back, the Day Care Man says, "Good thing for us, eh, sweetie? If these lads hadn't come around, we'd have lost them all! The fence broke down, and they were running all over. We're glad you were passing by!"
"But those things sure are fast." Kris says.
"Professor Elm told us you'd be coming." The Day Care Lady says. "We hear you hatched the egg we found, eh? Elm thought maybe we'd be able to figure something out if we saw the critter, but... well... we were taking care of two Pokemon... don't even know what they were. Suddenly, they were gone... and there was an egg."
"That probably is Togetic or Togekiss, I mean, they are the only ones who can lay the Togepi egg." Lillie says.
"We keep watching to see if anyone else lays one, but no luck..." The Day Care Man says. "But if you want to leave any Pokemon here, feel free to do it. Sometimes the Pokemon here will lay eggs for you to hatch."
"That sure is nice." Then the Day Care Lady decides to show us all the Pokemon around here, and there are some strong ones who we can actually battle. While Ethan and the others are battling, I decide to look at the baby Pokemon that we caught.
Pichu: The Tiny Mouse Pokemon: Electric Type. Despite its small size, it can zap even adult humans. However, if it does so, it also surprises itself.
Cleffa: The Star Shape Pokemon: Fairy Type. Because of its unusual, star-like silhouette, people believe that it came here on a meteor.
Igglybuff: The Balloon Pokemon: Normal and Fairy Type. Its extremely flexible and elastic body makes it bounce continuously—anytime, anywhere.
Smoochum: The Kiss Pokemon: Ice and Psychic Type. Its lips are the most sensitive parts on its body. It always uses its lips first to examine things.
Elekid: The Electric Pokemon: Electric Type. It rotates its arms to generate electricity, but it tires easily, so it charges up only a little bit.
Magby: The Live Coal Pokemon: Fire Type. It is found in volcanic craters. Its body temp. is over 1100 degrees, so don't underestimate it.
After some training, Reisa's Squirtle evolves into a Wartortle, and both of us also evolve our Ledyba into a Ledian. We also evolved Hoppip into a Skiploom.
Ledian: The Five Star Pokemon: Bug and Flying Type. Evolved from Ledyba at LV:18. In the daytime when it gets warm, it curls up inside a big leaf and drifts off into a deep slumber.
Skiploom: The Cottonweed Pokemon: Grass and Flying Type. Evolved from Hoppip at LV:18. As soon as it rains, it closes its flower and hides in the shade of a tree to avoid getting wet.
However, Team Rocket appears once more, and this time it is not the trio, but Butch and Cassidy. They are trying to steal the Day Care Pokemon and we have a battle. But while we're in the middle of the battle, the annoying trio appears once more. But they seem to be focused on battling Cassidy and Butch. The two of them are surprised to see Jessie's Wobbuffet, but those three are blasting off once more. Then we focus back on the other two and arrest them, however, I don't think the jail is going to trap them further.
We finally arrive at Goldenrod City, we look around and are amazed at how many things this city has to offer. Reisa says, "This place sure is really massive."
"I know, but we should probably go to the gym." Ethan says.
But just when we get there, the gym is actually closed until tomorrow. Ethan frowns in defeat, I say, "Don't worry, there are a lot of things we can do in Goldenrod City after all."
We decided to explore the department store first. On the second floor, we find a lot of mail that is sold, Lillie asks, "What are those?"
"They are special mail that you can write to the trainers who trade your Pokemon. It is giving a message. It can't be used with Thief or Switcheroo." East says.
The rest of the Department store is similar to the Celadon Department Store, so we buy some items that we want and leave to see the other places.
As we get to the Goldenrod Game Corner, we find a new game known as the Voltorb Flip.
"According to the rules, the game features a 5×5 grid of tiles, underneath which are numbers, which multiply the current score, and Voltorb, which Selfdestruct, dropping the score to zero. The total number of points and Voltorb in each set of five cards is noted on the edge of the field. The game advances to more difficult levels once all of the 2× and 3× multipliers have been found. Higher levels give the player a chance to win several hundred coins at a time, which can be redeemed for prizes."
"Well, we did pay 9999 for a Porygon, let's see if we can make some more by playing this game." I say.
After our observation and their thinking, we managed to get the money back, much to our delight. But we didn't buy anything as we wanted to save some more.
Now we find the Goldenrod Tunnel, and Reisa says, "This is the Goldenrod Tunnel...if we follow this tunnel, we can see a Dress-Up Shop. That's where our Pokémon can put on Accessories to dress up and take pictures!"
"I know." Lillie says, "It is a good thing that our parents gave us Fashion Cases so that we can use them."
Then we start to look around the place, and we see the Bargain Shop, which only opens on Monday mornings, from 4:00 a.m. to 9:59 a.m. This merchant deals in valuable items; while having no use themselves, they can be resold elsewhere for a decent profit. Each of these items may only be purchased once per week.
The middle house is the Pokémon Salon, which is operated by two brothers. Their services will raise a Pokémon's friendship, though at different rates. The younger brother charges 300, while the older brother charges 500. Their shop is closed on Mondays.
The final store is the Herb Shop, which sells medicinal herbs that heal or revive Pokémon and are less expensive than their traditional counterparts. The downside is that Pokémon do not enjoy their bitter taste, so their friendship rating will decrease slightly as a result. This shop is only open on Saturdays and Sundays.
There are also trainers in the tunnel who will battle them, but we manage to defeat them in the end. Once we get out, we continue to explore and find the Magnet Train Station. East says, "This is where the Magnet Train leads to. It is a good thing we have passes to board them."
"Yeah. It is such a nice thing as well. But we aren't going back to Saffron yet." I add. "Now the only place left is the Radio Tower."
When we get there, we find a Team Rocket member peeking at the window. We ignore him since he is no threat, and we enter the place. We find a girl asking some questions.
"Hi! My name is Whitney! I heard about the Quiz to win a Radio Card, so I came here to get one... But this Quiz is so hard!"
"Can you let us do it?" I ask and we look at the quiz. "Answer five questions correctly in a row to win a Radio Card...I see we should try it out."
"You're right." East says as we go to the counter and ask the staff to give us the test.
"The first question: Can you check the Town Map with your Rotom Phone?" I say, "Of course I can."
"You are correct. The second question: Can Nidorina only be female?" Lillie says, "It is."
"You are correct. The third question: Kurt, the Poke Ball creator, uses apricots as ingredients?" Reisa says, "No, that's not correct. It is Apricorns, they are different."
"You are correct again. The fourth question. Is it impossible to use a TM on Magikarp?" East says, "No, you can give it Hydro Pump TM."
"Wow! I have only one more question to answer. In Professor Oak's popular show, Pokemon Talk, is he on with Marie?" Kris says, "Well, it's not."
"Bingo! You got it! Congratulations! Here are your prizes, the Radio Card!" Then they give all of us the cards, and Whitney says, "Wow, you did it! I thought the answer to the third question was surely apricots!"
"Yeah." I say. Just then, Whitney looks around with panic. "Oh no! My Clefairy is missing!"
"Your Clefairy?" Lillie asks.
We try to search for the Clefairy until we find Team Rocket trying to put Clefairy into a bag. "Hey! That Clefairy belongs to me!"
"It's Team Rocket again!" I yell. They try to run away, and we chase them to the Magnet Train station, they try to leave on the brand-new, super-fast monorail, only to find that it will be open for service in another year.
"Come back here!" They try to steal the handcar and petal away. However, their getaway is too slow, allowing Pikachu to simply walk next to them. When Ash orders a Thunderbolt, Jessie asks him not to and gives Clefairy back.
"Thanks, guys." Whitney says, but much to our surprise, Pikachu is the one taken instead.
"Clefairy! Use your Metronome!" Whitney yells, and Clefairy does the Metronome and produces a Gust attack that grabs Pikachu right out of Meowth's paws.
"Now use Thunder!" I yell, and Pikachu does the attack. This activates the Magnet Train's magnetic propulsion systems, which sends Team Rocket shooting down the line.
"Thanks, Whitney." I say. "We couldn't have done it without you and Clefairy."
"No problem. I really want to have a battle with you." Whitney says.
"I could, but we have a gym battle that we need to prepare for, and the gym won't open until tomorrow."
"You can forget about that sign, I'm the Gym Leader of Goldenrod City, and I'm happy to open the gym for you to battle."
We are happy to hear about that, but that means she's going to get back all the gym trainers and the gym guide. I feel sorry for them, but who cares.
Here is a new chapter, and now we're at the Goldenrod City. I hope you like it and the next chapter will be the gym battle.
