sore sweetness
"I really wore you out last night, huh?"
"Shut up... Oh, gosh, I'm so sore." Raven winces.
The morning aesthetic was Raven sleeping in past her early morning hours because she was drained, Garfield's hair disheveled, fresh, red scratches on his back (they stung so painfully, to a point of pleasure) and a condom wrapper amongst the softness of the bed sheets.
The pair were cuddling, specifically in a spooning position. Raven's back was against Garfield's chest, his arms caressed around her body, one of his hands were in hers. He intersperses passionate kisses on the flesh of her back, which is slightly exposed under the thin linen.
"Oh, no. Are you really that sore, princess?"
"Mhm, it's okay, though. I like it rough." by the way she spoke, Garfield could tell she was smiling.
He still isn't convinced.
"Are you sure, sure, sure? If you need me to go slower or softer next time, please, let me know. The only thing I want to do is love you, the last thing I want to do is hurt you." his index and thumb finger slips underneath the strap of her camisole.
"I'm good, Gar, I know you mean well. I trust you enough to tell you if anything makes me uncomfortable or feel too much pain, you know that. Sometimes, this happens after lots of good sex," she yawns adorably.
"My legs feel heavy, inside of me is throbbing, my senses crossed wires, light-headedness, I feel like a slug. If I can't tell you that you're hitting it right, my body will." she chuckles.
"I understand, I'm learning your body in non-sexual ways, too, and I love it. I remember one time we did the do, and I had a splitting migraine for a day?"
"How can I forget that? You were so miserable and tired all of the time."
"Yeaaah, dude, my head was messed up from all that monkeying around I did with you. It was worth it, anyway." his fingers glide down her flesh, he pecks the nape of her neck.
She mumbles groggily, rolling over to face her boyfriend.
"Mmm. I've got a paper to write for next Thursday, I've gotta get on that."
"Tell me about it. I've got lab and a research paper coming up in the next week, and I'm dreading it. Four months until the finish line, damn."
"Yes, then back home we go, how great." Raven sighs, sarcasm itching at her voice.
"You don't sound too happy about that."
"I'm not. I don't want to leave you."
She shyly shifts her cheek into the pillow as tears pool to her amethyst eyes.
"Rae, baby, don't cry." Garfield's voice softens to a whisper.
"I'm sorry... it's just. You are my escape, and my happy place. Like I said, that extra addition to what I already worked on for myself. You taught me a lot, how to express my needs. How to soften in the warmth of affection instead of pushing it away. Along the way," a thin smile etches on her face, "You've taught me I'm braver than I could imagine."
"All of the public indecency we've done, am I right? Most of it's your fault, you're quite the girl."
"Heh, and you're quite the , and just... you showed me trust isn't as scary as it appears to be, along as it is with the right person. We've had so much fun, pain, and memories, I'm so glad that it's all ours, no one else's. But, I don't wanna go back home to all of that mess between my parents. I still have unresolved conflicts with my father and so many emotions that I have to sift through, because I spent most of my life avoiding them. Oh, boy, and on top of that, that man heard me getting down over the phone."
"Oops," he chuckles adorably.
His hand finds the small of her side and back, he rubs there once more. She lifts her thigh over his body, leaning more into his embrace. Her hand trails down his arm, back up, to the angle of his jaw.
"You haven't spoken to him since?"
She rasps, "No, there was no reason to."
Garfield claims, "I understand. Your instinct is to avoid the problem, because it's too sticky to manage. When you do try to handle it, it seems to overpower you."
"Yeah..."
"You know you're bigger than all of that mishmash, right?"
"I'd hope so."
"You are, I know it. Not to push any boundaries, but maybe, you can talk to your father. Just talk. Start with asking him how his day is going, and what his week is looking like."
"I'm not in the headspace to do any of that right now, babe."
"I know, Rae, but if you wait for the problem to fix itself, which it won't... it will end worse than it already is."
Raven exhales deeply, "I guess you're right."
"And don't rush it. Have a simple chat, and advance from there. Hopefully you can get to tell him how you feel, and he can do the same for you. I'm sure all, if not, most problems can work out if we allow them to. You just have to try."
"I'll call him later today, or tomorrow. I also have to remember to keep my onslaught of anger to a minimum. Thanks, Snuggle Bug..."
Raven's words track off into a faint breath. Her purple gaze scans Garfield's jade eyes, then wander over his face. His mouth bends into a tender grin, then she giggles.
"You know you're handsome, right, Gar?"
"Mhm." he nods cutely.
"Fun-loving, silly, caring, an absolute dork," her thumb strokes his cheek. She gently plants a peck on his nose.
"I'm so grateful for you. You're always there for me, even when it's hard to be. You make me feel comfortable."
"I appreciate you, too, Rae. My shmooga wooga, sprinkle-dinkle, buttercup." he glances at her eyes, watches her pink lips.
They silently breathe each other's air for a few seconds.
Raven quizzes playfully, "Well, are you gonna kiss me or not?"
"Ladies first."
"You little..."
Raven tugs Garfield's lips towards hers, kissing him innocently. His hand strokes on the flesh of her back, rucking up the shirt she's wearing. Her hand caresses his cheek, hair, tickles his neck.
He laughs in her mouth, that sweet sound makes Raven's heart warm. She smiles against his lips, delves her tongue a bit deeper in his mouth.
"I can see that gorgeous smile of yours, even with my eyes closed." he comments.
"Of course you can."
Her body rolls on top of his. She breaks this kiss, whispering something passionate in his ears. His cheeks fill with a red, warm layer. The pads of her slender fingers slip down his bare chest. He gasps lightly in her mouth, hums contently.
Raven tasted like honeyed medicine after an infection. To her, Garfield tasted like iced lemonade after a hot summer day. To each other, they were the treat that satisfied a crippling sweet tooth.
They couldn't get enough of each other, even if they tried.
"I'm so into you, it's ridiculous." Raven utters, her voice is fragile from all of the kissing.
"I'm more invested in you than video games."
Raven chuckles.
"C'mere, cutie-pah-tootie."
Raven squeals as Garfield lovingly puts her on the bottom. She wraps her thighs around his torso. Garfield nuzzles his nose into his girlfriend's neck. He uses her liking to touch, extracting a wholesome laugh out of her.
"Gar! Your nose is wet and cold."
"And what do you expect me to do about that? Warm it up against your neck, like this." he snuggles again with a chuckle.
Following a few more minutes of nestling and exchanging fluffy phrases, Garfield brings the session to an end.
"I could do this all day, but we've got classes to get to." he balances himself parallel to his partner.
He wears that cheesy, priceless smile that makes Raven fall in love with him all over again.
"Do we haaaaaaave to go?" Raven pouts, "I wanna stay with my baby."
"Sadly, we do. Up and at 'em, girlie."
Raven rolls her eyes, "Whatever you say. I didn't even get in my morning reading of Macbeth, I did rather stay in and have a lazy-read day."
"Mhm, you're kinda out of it today. Tell you what, let's shower, we'll go to the café for some breakfast, and maybe we can squeeze in a walk on the nature trail on campus."
"Good to go. Alright, are you coming with me?"
"Where?"
"To the shower."
Garfield grows sheepish, "Oh... well, if you want me to."
"Why so shy?" Raven lifts her left brow.
"I mean, I'd love to. I'll clean you up instead of mess you up this time." he winks.
"Heh, you better. I'm in the mood for a love shower." she confesses, carding her hand through his luscious hair.
"That makes the two of us. A soft wash-up, nothing too seggsy."
Raven smiles, "Seggsy?"
"Yeah," an innocent expression develops on Garfield's face. " 'Cuz, y'know... we have... seggs."
"You're adorable. So, what do we call "non-seggsy" things? Like cuddles, kisses, head rubs, sharing milkshakes, sharing hoodies, annoying each other."
"Softies, like what we're about to do right now."
Garfield eagerly tugs his girlfriend out of bed, and then they head to the bathroom.
