"Link…I'm here."

The beautiful voice enclosed him in a warm grasp as it echoed through his bones. The castle which encased his love towered over. Alas its ghostly appearance did not make him waver and he plowed forward with an ever-steady determination. Guardians came in all directions only to be slashed to bits with his ferocious Master Sword.

Link had prepared himself for this very moment. To finally rescue her from Calamity's Ganon's clutches. The monster who had detained his princess and sent Hyrule spiraling into chaos.

Link was scared. Indeed, he was. But he was proud. At least he was saving the princess. He couldn't save the Champions or the countless civilians who were victims of the Calamity. But he could save Zelda. He'd be able to save at least one person he cared for. The guilt tugged at his heart everyday but perhaps some of this guilt could be put to rest at this very moment.

Link drew in a deep breath before pushing open the steel doors that led into the Sanctum, the place where he knew the battles of all battles would take place. The doors creaked open, and he steeled himself to be ambushed by the monstrous abomination called Calamity Ganon. Instead, Link found himself standing there. Nothing moved.

Then he saw her, Zelda, his princess. She was turned away, collapsed on the floor. Link gasped and ran to her side. "Zelda!" He fell to his knees and took her into his arms. "Zelda…"

He grasped her cold hand and checked her pulse. His alarmed gaze became soft. "You're alive…" he held her hand. "Zelda I am—"

"Why didn't you save me…?" He heard her say softly as if all her breath had been stolen from her. Link had to lean in to hear her words. Her lips barely moved as she spoke.

"What? Zelda! I'm here!" He shook her hand trying to stir her. "You're rescued. You're saved!" Tears tugged at the corner of his eyes. "You're alive…Zelda. You're free." He held her hand tighter.

"Why did you leave me…all alone?"

Link looked down at her puzzled, "Zelda…I think you need rest. I'm here now. Everything's going to be alright."

"No…you left me. You left me…all alone. You left me when I needed you most…you betrayed me." Her soft whispers flared up with anger. Link felt as if his stomach had dropped to his knees. Then, she turned her head slowly to him.

Instead of the familiar face which he adored, he met a face that made him scream. Zelda's rotting face was peeling away with blood dribbling from her mouth. Her were empty sockets.

She gripped his hand with such force it made him scream. "You left me, Link. I loved you…and you still left me…" Malice filled her veins, making them bulge from her cold and rotting skin.

"Zelda!" he screamed as the bones in his fingers cracked and broke. "Stop it!" He tried to reach his Master Sword, but Zelda was quicker and kicked it away from his grasp. He flailed in her grip, trying to break away from it but she was relentless.
"I love you, Link. You'll never leave me again. You will never be able to leave me." She giggled with insanity, her laughs hollow and hoarse. Zelda touched his cheek with her cold and rotting hand. She grinned but no teeth were left. Her mouth looked like an abyss. "You're mine. Forever."

"Zelda…what happened to you?" he quivered as he looked back into her empty sockets searching for anything that resembled her old self.

"A blessing." Her gravelly voice chirped with as much cheerfulness as a demonic thing could muster. "You never came, and I lost hope. He gave me that hope back…something to live for…something to look forward to. Ganon gave me life and I have yet to pay him back." What was left of her lips twitched up into what seemed to be a smirk.

"No…" Link murmured with horror and his eyes widen.

Zelda leaned in "Yes." She twisted his arm making him wince in pain. "Yes, a very simple request. That I may be a vessel. That I may lend my life force to him. That I may rule Hyrule again. That my hero be always by my side." Link shook his head knowing that screaming out would be pointless…no one would ever hear him. "I serve Ganon, we share a body and now I will honor my promise."

"Zelda! Don't do this, please." He pleaded with tears spilling freely. "I've saved you. Everything was supposed to be fine. But…but…you're like this…you're crazy…you're corrupt."

"Oh, silly Link. You don't understand. I'm the love of your life!" She laughed again, her mouth a black bottomless pit. "I'm not corrupt. I'm happy. And you will be too." She giggled and twisted his arm so far that he heard an ear-splitting snap. Pain rushed up his arm and he yelled. Tears streamed freely from his eyes. "We will be together. Forever, Linky."

"No! Get away, you're not Zelda. You're not my Zelda. GET AWAY!" He shrieked and pulled his broken arm from her.

The pain was unbearable, but he didn't care anymore. All he wanted to do was get away from her. Forever if possible. Link dragged his arm along with him, crawling despite the unbearable pain and reached for the Master Sword.

"NO!" It screamed. Its voice seem to echo in his head, in the room and all around in a frightening chorus. It wrapped its icy fingers around his ankle, bits of dead flesh coming off its hand in its grip. "I am your Zelda. I LOVE YOU!" His fingers grazed the handle of the Master Sword, but it shrieked and pulled him back. "And nothing will get in between our love. NOTHING!"

"There is no love between us!" Link tried to kick at it despite the exhaustion. His legs felt like lead. His voice was hoarse from screaming.

"You're not Zelda. YOU KILLED HER! ZELDA IS DEAD! You may have her body but she's dead. SHE'S DEAD!" He tried to pry its fingers off his ankle, but it grabbed him by the neck. "How dare you…how dare you twist her into an evil thing. How dare you. I HATE YOU!"

He kicked at her as it lifted him up and he gasped for air. "You're not Zelda. Zelda would never hurt anyone."

It smirked at him with wat skin it had left. It had turned his beloved into a beast. A face so familiar but twisted beyond recognition.

Then its face fell. "Oh…Link. Silly…silly…Link. I wish it didn't have to be this way, my love. But you're resisting. You're resisting our love."

It leaned closer to him and slammed him against the wall, squeezing his throat tighter and leaning in. Its face inches from him. The smell of rotting flesh itself made his vision blur in disgust. He could see the upturn of what was left of her nose, the soft shape of her lips and the indentation of her gentle eye sockets. He knew the face too well and it was destroying him.

"It's a shame, Linky. But our love is the most important thing to me in this world. And I am not going to allow you to stop it." Her eyes glanced over to the Master Sword. She bent down and grabbed it.

It leaned in closer. He tried to squirm away, kicking, screaming, yelling, punching, hitting, and yet it managed to kiss him. It was gross, it was horrifying, and it was violating. Link then bit on its lip with as much hate as he could muster, and it instantly pulled away in pain. It screamed, its body grew rigid, and it squeezed his throat even tighter.

"How dare you defy our love!" she said with a bloody lip.

"THERE IS NO LOVE!" Link managed to get out through gritted teeth. "I don't love you! YOU MONSTER! I LOVE ZELDA! NOT YOU!" Link clawed at its hand, trying to gulp for breath and lights danced before his eyes.

"THAT'S NOT TRUE! YOU LOVE ME! YOU HAVE TO LOVE ME! YOU HAVE TO." It screamed at him defying the reality. She whispered. "I love you, Link. Forever and always."

As Link was opening his mouth to yell back at it, it thrust the Master Sword into his gut. Link had no chance to scream. He mouthed his words silently. It released its grip letting him fall to the hard ground. It knelt beside him as the light slowly faded from his eyes.

As his final act before departing this world, he spit in its face, a mixture of blood and saliva. Its face flushed with anger, and it drove the Master Sword through his body again and again.

Sharp pain ripped through him in his final moments. It was not a peaceful passing, it was one full of agony, his own blade driving through him again and again, the pain never ceasing to dull. Even when the light had finally left his eyes, it continued to stab him with the blade, riddling his dead body with deep cuts. It screams and shrieks of anger echoed to all the corners of Hyrule striking fear in any heart that heard its cursed cries.

Citizens, mercenaries, travelers, traders, assassins, villagers, leaders, bandits, common folk, and all sorts flocked to Hyrule Castle anticipating the Calamity's long reign to have come to an end. They waited for many long days and nights until they saw a silhouette stride across the field towards them.

A few children ran to the silhouette, its face in shadows from the afternoon sun behind it. Two of the children took the silhouette's hand and the rest skipped alongside towards their parents.

There was music, there was dancing, there was partying, there was excited chatter, there was food being eaten, and there were games being played. Then it all stopped as they set their eyes on the now visible silhouette.

A deadly silence hung in the air. The people were frozen with fear and horror as they looked upon the person who they were celebrating.

"The princess is waiting." It spoke.

It looked familiar to many, but it was still alien. It was the hero's face, but it was destroyed beyond recognition. The Master Sword stuck out of its gut.

It grabbed the handle and pulled it out easily. The hero held its Master Sword at its side, its dried and bloodshot eyes swept over each of them. "Who wants to meet her first?"

A child beside the hero rose his hand hesitantly. The hero stared at him and then thrust his sword into the child. The child was dead before he hit the ground.

A toothy grin spread across Link's face. "Who's next?" he hissed.

The crowd was still for a moment and then began to flee but none of them were as fast as the monster.

The princess watched from its tower watching its love, as the hero massacred the masses that had gathered before the princess's domain. A blood moon rose in the sky behind her. A new night rising with the moon and a new kingdom rising with it.

The princess smiled. "Power." It clenched its hand. "And it is our Lord Ganon that we have to thank for it." Monsters rose from the ground. The sky was streaked with blood. The screams of the hero's victims echoed across Hyrule.

Yes, it was a new beginning indeed.

A/N: Wow. Don't know what possessed my past self to write this. Oh well, I think you all know the reason why I didn't publish it in the first place. Quite a horrifying little gem, eh? Link and Zelda's kiss will never not gross me out. God, what the hell. Welp, its been published. I hope you guys enjoyed reading it. If you did.

I love Dark Zelda. Apart from her violating Link, of course.
