I have returned with a new chapter. Let's check out the poll.

For the pairings, so far Weiss is winning by 3 votes with Yang not far behind with two. We also have 1 vote for Ruby, Nobody and Harem.

I may have forgotten to make the poll public in the beginning, so in case you haven't voted yet, make sure you do now!

I also added a new option, which was Team RWBY, just in case people only want that as a harem option.

I also went back on my word and added Cinder as an option, but I really doubt she is going to win the poll. And if you must know, I would have to make some changes in the story for this one since Cinder would be good in this.

"Do you even know where you're going?" I asked as I walked behind Ruby and Weiss.

"Are you going to follow me or are you going to continue to complain and whine?" Weiss said as she rolled her eyes, giving me an incredulous glare.

"Well excuuuuuuse me princess!" I yelled out. "I just think someone is lost!"

"Ugh!" Weiss huffed and picked up the pace, leaving me a bit behind.

Ruby placed a hand on my shoulder, grinning. "Don't worry about Weiss. I'm pretty sure she's always had a stick up her butt."

"I HEARD THAT!"

The two of us snickered under our breaths. I let out a sigh and gave Ruby a smile as I leaned against a nearby tree. "Thanks for the help." I said

"Whaaat? It's no problem!" Ruby waved off my concerns with a bright smile. "A hero always helps those in need, right? And besides, strangers are just friends you haven't met yet."

I snickered. "Where'd you hear that?"

"Friend told me! Like, yesterday." She stated. "And I believe the first step is names! I'm Ruby Rose, what's yours?"

I thought for a bit, wondering if I should use my real name or a fake one, before deciding on both. "Edgar. Edgar Raul."

"Cool, can I call you Ed?" She asked.

"No."

"Aw…" She said, dejected.

Suddenly, the two of us flinched at the sound of a fierce roar and loud howling. Ruby tensed and her brows furrowed.

"Beowolves." Ruby frowned, and soon gasped. "Oh my Gods! WEISS!"

Before I could even blink, Ruby was gone in a flash, using her semblance.

"Huh… Turns out she actually leaves roses behind…" I said with a chuckle, before I heard a growling behind me. "Aw crap baskets…"

I can't believe I got stuck with a child of a partner and some idiot! UGH, he doesn't even look dressed appropriately for the exam! Is he even taking this seriously?! Weiss scowled at the thought. Red and Black shoes, red shorts, black and red hoodie, black hair, black eyes- THERE ARE OTHER COLORS! She added, not realizing the irony of the statement.

She could tell from a glance he was no warrior, from the fact he had no weapon out even after they landed in dangerous territory. Did he even have one? What was he doing here?

Is he a civilian? That doesn't explain how he ended up in Emerald Forest, or caused that explosion for that matter... Weiss slowed her pace until she came to a stop in a clearing, her mind beginning to wander. Or maybe, he's a secret part of the test! That if we protect him and bring him back safely, we'll get a favour or some kind? Maybe change our partners? Make sense for that ridiculous rule of teaming up with whoever we make eye contact with. She giggled, smirking in triumph. Yes! That has to be it!

The sound of a branch snapping but the heiress on high alert. Weiss reached for Mystrenaster (that's a mouthful…) as feral growling echoed through the shadows, beady red eyes watching her with a menacing glare. Weiss narrowed her eyes and lashed out with her rapier as a creature lunged from the shadows, slicing its arm clean off its body. The Beowolf let out a howl of pain and was swiftly silenced with a stab to the head.

Weiss clicked her tongue as an entire pack of Beowolves came out of the bushes. Weiss remained undeterred. She'd face far larger foes, both literally and figuratively, and she'd trained for this very moment. One foot back, the other forward... not that forward! Weiss chastised herself and adjusted her stance, poising Mystrenaster above chest level. She shifted her feet and narrowed her eyes in focus as the Beowolves began to stalk forward. She twisted the chamber on Mystrenaster and it clicked in a blast of Fire Dust. She took in a calming breath... Steady yourself, wait for the time to strike... and... NOW!

She dashed forth with a burst of speed, the tip of her blade glowing a red hot orange as the heat within built up. She prepared to swing down and bisect the Beowolf in front of her in two…

…if Ruby didn't swoop in, slashing the Grimm clean in half. Weiss shrieked in shock and slammed her feet into the ground, grinding her momentum to a halt and throwing her attack clean off balance.

Fire exploded in a roaring display of flames, slamming straight into the treeline and quickly setting the forest ablaze in a matter of seconds. Eyes wide, her expression quickly gave way to anger and exasperation as she whirled around to face her partner. "What is WRONG with you?!"

"What did I do? I just saved your butt!" Ruby shot back. The white-haired girl seethed as she continued. "You just ran off and left me and Edgar behind!"

Huh, so that's his name. She quickly realized. "You dolt, I'm trying to find the relics! It's not my fau-" Weiss' eyes widened in horror and she began looking around frantically. "Wait?! Where is he?!"

"Heh?"

"EDGAR YOU DUNCE!" Weiss snapped, stomping her foot. "It's of the utmost importance that we protect him at all costs!"

"Oh, so NOW you want to help him! Before-!"

"This isn't the time for sass, Ruby!"

Their argument was further halted as a familiar screaming voice echoed through the forest and closed in on them at alarming speeds.

I was running, like a coward. Look, it's not like I can't fight. I took up boxing as a hobby, so I definitely know how to stand up for myself.

But there is a big difference between a person and a GIANT FUCKING WOLF!

And I have no idea if my Aura is unlocked or if I even have a Semblance, so I am not going to risk it. So I ran until I stopped hearing the growling behind me, placing my hands on my knees to catch my breath.

"Edgar!"

I perked up and whirled around to see Ruby and Weiss rushing over to me.

"Wow, fancy meeting you-" I was about to joke before I was interrupted by Weiss

"We need to retreat, now!" She shouted as I looked around us, finding ourselves surrounded by Grimm. Looks like the other one was just leading me to the pack. Greaaaat…

"What? We can easily take them! Why are we running?!" Ruby protested with a shaking of her head, hefting up Crescent Rose.

"If you haven't noticed, we have a civilian in our midst! His safety is our top priority."

"You didn't seem to care about that before!"

"Well, my mind changed!"

"CAN YOU TWO BICKER SOME OTHER TIME?!" I screamed at the two of them, which stopped their argument

Weiss felt a headache coming on and she desperately wanted to nurse it. She shook her head. "Fine, let's move!"

Ruby holstered Crescent Rose and brought me away from the fight using her Semblance before pulling the scythe back out. She twirled the weapon around with practiced ease, getting into a battle ready stance. "We aren't gonna be able to run now. We're surrounded, so we have to fight!"

Weiss growled in frustration and resisted the urge to palm her face. "Fine! YOU!" She pointed at me with a fierce glare as cold as eyes. "Stay put while we take care of the Grimm! Understood?"

"Y-Yes ma'am." I said, actually scared of her.

"Good." Nodding in satisfaction, Weiss shot Ruby a light glare as she got into stance. "Don't get in my way this time."

Ruby scoffed. "I should be telling you that!"

The moment the Beowolf roared, Ruby and Weiss were on the move. Never thought I would see a live battle of RWBY, but I'm not going to complain.

Weiss' movements were graceful and precise, focusing on multiple jabs at the Beowolves. You had to be when your weapon was a rapier. It was like watching a ballerina dancing on stage.

Ruby was a different kind of graceful, using her semblance to quickly get around each of them individually and slicing them off with her scythe. God if I had my phone I would play Sonic Frontiers OST…

It's like straight out of an anime... I felt a grin creep up my face as I watched the battle. With the pack dispatched, Weiss wrenched her weapon out of the beast and flicked the blood off her blade before sheathing Mystrenaster. She took in a calming breath and perked up when she heard Ruby's excited whoop. She turned to berate the girl again...

"Weiss! THAT WAS TOTALLY AWESOME! You were so fast, and cool! And the way you used Dust in conjunction with your fighting!" Ruby squealed, bouncing in place. "Amazing~!"

"It looked like you were dancing." I added my own two cents.

Weiss blinked in surprise at the sincerity, looking between Ruby and I. She flushed lightly in embarrassment, folding her arms with a huff. She felt a smirk tug at her lips. "W-Well, obviously! I was trained by the best, after all." She paused and glanced at Ruby, working her jaw as she came up with a response. "Your... skill with a scythe is... extraordinary. I don't see many scythe users, if at all."

"Aw, stop it!" Ruby giggled shyly, batting her arm at Weiss with a grin. "... You can totally keep praising me, though."

Me and Ruby shared a laugh, and Weiss stared at them for a moment before smiling and letting out her own soft chuckle. Soon enough, though, the smell of burning wood and the crashing of trees filled their ears. They began to sweat as the fire continued to spread, and Ruby sheepishly laughed.

"... Weeeeee should probably get going." I said as the two girls began to nod.

As we ran, I unconsciously put my hands in the pockets of my hoodie and blinked once I felt something. "Hmm?" I pulled them out and noticed the items. "These are…"

I was planning on releasing this chapter last week, but I went on vacation and couldn't bring my laptop. Couldn't write a lot. This prologue is essentially the Initiation arc and next chapter might be the last one before we get to meet Ozpin and whatnot.

We finally a name and a face! His name is Edgar Raul. It's weird going from naming OC's in Japanese to now in English. I decided on Edgar due to the letter E, which can be silent in a lot of words, also because I noticed we don't have a lot of characters starting with that letter. Raul it's because it sounds cool. In terms of design, yes I know kind of cliché with the clothes and the hair, but it's the one he has right now. Not his final outfit. As for black hair and the eyes... do I really need to explain why?
