Multiple doors opened on every side of the ring. Thousands of skeleton bulls stampeded out of the doors, towards Manolo. Manolo raised his cape and swung around a few bulls. "Venga, toros!" he cried. Carmen screamed again. "Mama!" Manolo called, looking up.
Carmen is surrounded by Heartless, all of them taking the form of a skeleton. There are skeleton bandits, skeleton shadows and skeleton soldiers. "It's okay, Manolo!" Sora called, cupping his hands over his mouth. "We can handle the Heartless! You worry about those bulls!"
"Okay!" Manolo returned his focus back onto the bulls.
"What are the Heartless doing here?" Donald asked, calling his staff.
"No clue," Goofy replied, blocking Donald from a Heartless with his shield.
"Either way," Sora ducked from a Heartless, which flew into a skeleton bandit, "one thing's for sure. They aren't supposed to be here. Which means we have to take them out." Sora slashed at the skeleton Heartless surrounding Carmen. Luis and Jorge took care of a few others. "What are these things?" Jorge asked.
"Those are Heartless," Donald said, smacking a skeleton soldier with his staff head.
"They're drawn to darkness inside of people's hearts," Goofy explained.
"That and they follow people who have darkness in their hearts," Sora finished. La Muerte glared at Xibalba. "What?" he asked. "I didn't summon those on anayone! They weren't even a part of the deal! Even if I did, I don't need them!"
"You better no be lying," La Muerte said.
"I trust him," Goofy said. "He seems powerful enough on his own. Plus, he never mentioned anything about 'his special army.'" La Muerte sighed. "You're right, Goofy." She looked back at Xibalba. "But that still doesn't make up for what you did." Xibalba subtly rolled his eyes.
Sora, Donald and Goofy managed the skeleton Heartless around Carmen while Luis, Jorge, and now Carmelo, took care of the rest. "Do they always look like this?" Luis asked.
"Uhh-" Sora looked at Donald, who shook his head. "Yeeesss?"
Luis and Jorge stared at him. Luis narrowed his eyes. "Good enough for me!" he said after a minute of staring.
Manolo's father sat by his son's grave. He buried him near the tree he was found. While Joaquin and Maria stayed for a while, eventually, they had to leave, leaving Manolo's father to mourn by himself. "Aye, Manolo," he said. "You were still so young. I'm sorry..."
A group of kids ran past, one of them wearing a sombrero. The kid with the sombrero tripped, the other kids running ahead of him. Manolo's father turned to see a bandito coming straight for them. He punched the man in the face, knocking him down. "Are you okay?" Manolo's father asked the kid. He helped him up.
"Yeah, I'm fine. But San Angel is in danger. The banditos are coming!" the kid replied.
"Go then. Warn the town! I'll hold them off!"
"But there's too many of them!"
"Go!" Manolo's father unsheathed his swords and prepared to fight. The kid glanced at him before running off. "The banditos are coming!" he yelled as he ran closer to San Angel.
A group of bandits came up the hill, face to face with Manolo's father. The one in the front giggled. The rest parted, allowing room for a large, tall bandit. He has metal fingers, a large, black mustache, pointed teeth sticking out from his bottom jaw, and a pointy sombrero. "I hate bullfighters," the big bandit said.
Manolo's father regripped his sword. "Then come and get some." They charged towards one another.
Sora took out the last skeleton Heartless with his Keyblade. "That should do it!" he said. He turned his attention back to Manolo. Manolo is lying on the floor, bulls running around him. Some of them kicked dirt in his face. "Manolo!" Sora cried. "Get up!"
A beam of light shot down from the sky next to Sora and Carmen. "Woah!" Sora cried, flinching away from the light. "What is that?"
Manolo's father stood where the light vanished. He looked around for a second, examing the bull ring with a skeletal audience. "What is happening?" he asked.
"Carlos?" Carmen asked. "What happened?"
"Manolo!" Candlemaker called. "Your father is here!"
"Chakal is at the gates of San Angel!" Carlos yelled.
"Oh no," Sora said.
"We have to stop him," Luis replied.
"The town isn't brave enough," Carlos said. "Joaquin and General Posada are the only soldiers we have."
"What about the others?" Sora asked.
"They're uh...half...soldiers," Carlos replied.
"Oof," Sora said.
More skeleton Heartless spawned around Carlos and Carmen. "What are these?" Carlos asked.
"Heartless!" Sora replied bluntly. "They like darkness."
Carlos sliced a few of them with his sword, releasing hearts from each of them. "What was that?"
"The hearts you just freed," Sora replied. He finished off the rest of the group surrounding Carlos and Carmen. "Where are they coming from?"
"Who knows," Donald said.
The bulls around Manolo began running towards the center of the ring, towards each other. They never crashed, however, but, instead, turned into a tornado.
Donald knocked a skeleton Heartless into the ring. "Manolo! Look out!" Donald warned. Manolo rolled out of the way of the Heartless. The skeleton bandit crashed into the floor and died. Carlos slashed at the last one. "That should be the last one, right?" Sora asked.
"Uh, Sora?" Goofy said.
"Anyway, nice to properly meet you! I'm Sora!" Sora held out his hand to Carlos. "Uh, S-Sora?" Goofy said. Carlos smiled. "Nice to formally meet you. Manolo kept talking about you," Carlos replied, shaking Sora's hand.
"Sora?" Goofy tried again.
"He has?" Sora asked.
"Yeah he said you were super friendly!"
"Well, uh-"
"SORA!" Donald yelled.
"What?" Sora asked turning around. "What is-" he stopped. In the center of the bull ring stands a giant skeleton bull. His body is made of complete bone, with no signs he was ever a thousand bulls. "Woah!" Sora cried. "What is that?"
"El Toro Muerto," Xibalba said. "Only the worst form of bull fighting you can get. An enraged bull."
"What...what happened? It's so big!" Sora asked.
"The bulls ran together and created a tornado!" Goofy replied.
"So they became...bull-nado and created...that?" Sora checked, throwing his arms in front of him, pointing at the bull.
"Yup," Goofy replied.
"Man!" Candlemaker said. "That is a whole lotta bull!"
"How is he going to beat that?" Sora asked. "That seems unfair!"
"It's completely fair, boy," Xibalba replied. "He set the wager but he had no conditions for the type of challenge. The bulls can become one giant bull if they wanted to."
"Isn't it against the rules?" Donald asked.
"Nope!" Xibalba replied, his smile shwoing pointed teeth. "I don't control the bulls, just the wager."
"Oh dang," Sora said. "I hope Manolo can handle this."
"Aye, mijo," Carmen said.
