I was scolded by my team admin for losing my glasses while on the job a few weeks back, but thankfully I got myself a new pair. If I didn't end up freaking about that girl grabbing me like that, I would had been able to take my glasses back and control my pants. I really hope I don't run into her again. She was too much to handle and I don't think I have the energy to deal with her again.
"I'll be grateful if she doesn't take my glasses if I do see her again" I groaned, walking around route 10 "these are expensive... I can barely afford ramen" my teammates were on break after scavenging the area for awhile, so I took the liberty of sitting by a tree and stare at the large rocks that are actually gravestones, surrounding me.
These gravestones were set here after the Pokémon war had finished. These Pokémon fought in the war, and now Rest In Peace, but I overheard that these stones are going to be used for something. Because I was too far away to hear what they plan on doing with them, even if I'm sort of part of the higher ups, I just sat back and took in the fresh air while the time ticks every second I'm on my lunch break.
I am a Team Flare member, and I spent months, after my parents died, alone. I was founded by our leader, and I can never say I regret my decision. I'll give anything to be part of a world where ugly people can't ruin others lives any further. My parents died through a selfish act, and I can't wait to avenge them.
Fennekin rested on my lap, softly wagging its tail in relaxation, feeling good under the shade I chose away from the hot summer sun. It's almost so relaxing that I could fall asleep, and I was almost about to until Fennekin flinched from something around us.
I got up from my spot and traveled to see if there would be anyone out there that could disturb my teammates at work, and just like back in Glittering Cave, it was the same girl who came at the time when we're in the middle of working.
"Seriously?" I sighed, watching her staring at a Pokéball on the ground shaking for a moment before it stopped from a final capture. She caught a Pokémon and cheered when succeeding.
I know I'm in the middle of my lunch, but if there was anyone around these parts, it's my job to keep them away from our job site.
"Yes! We caught a new friend!" The girl, I think her name was Serena, cheered with her Froakie.
Out of all the people I run into, why did it have to be the girl that's so weird that she ended up beating me in battle and making me feel weird on the inside? Who is she?
"I always wanted a Eevee! Yay!" She jumped up and down for a moment before noticing that her Froakie was staring at me since I saw them. She turned to see me and watch me for a moment before gasping in joy. As she turned, I saw that she was wearing my red glasses!
"Oh!" She smiled big "It's pretty eyes!" My face felt more hot than it already was when she said that "It's nice to see you again!" She jogged towards me as I moved away from the bushes I was behind, to face her "I see you got yourself a new set of glasses!" She took off the ones she had on her head "I swear I didn't mean to take these from you! You can have them back" I waved my hand.
"I already have a pair. Just keep them" she smiled like I gifted them to her or something.
"Really?! Thanks!" She put them on and posed "They kinda growing on me!" I chuckled a little, but not enough for her to notice. She's a strange one "I see you still have that tacky uniform. What's the deal, man? You really part of the nasty group who only care about themselves?"
"I beg to differ. What we do is strictly our business. I came here to tell you to leave. We're in the middle of working" she tapped her chin.
"Working? But I just defeated a few grunts awhile back" I flinched "They all dashed off. I was going to chase them before I saw this adorable Eevee! I couldn't resist!" She giggled and hugged the Pokéball in her hands "You seem to be the last grunt for me to battle" I dug in my pocket to take out a new Pokéball with a Pokémon I caught a few days back "but I'm too tired out" she shrugged. Huh? "Hey, Geosenge Town isn't too far from here! Want a bite to eat?" I backed off, not expecting that.
"What? You defeated my teammates to stop them from what they were doing, and once you run into me, you want to be buddy buddy?" I arched my brow. She giggled
"Well, it's more complicated than that" she held her chin, observing me "I don't know what it is, but I like what I see" she smirked. I held my chest, shocked to know she really was this bold to straight up flirt with me like that!
"W-What's wrong with you!?" I blushed "You're getting in the way of our plan! We should be battling! Not flirting!"
"I'm the one flirting, you're just freaking out" she licked her lips "it's cute" I took a step back as she leaned closer to me, giving me a look that made my heart beat out of control "You never told me your name, by the way" I cleared my throat and calmed myself as best as I could
"That's not what should be discussed right now" I took out my Pokéball "I'll make you regret messing with us-" she took my hand, making me freeze.
"Come on! Don't be like that!" She frowned "I just want to get to know you! You seem like a really nice guy!" I blinked a few times, confused.
"W-What..?" I stared at her sad, yet really... pretty eyes... no! "What are you getting at..? You're not getting any information out of me" she moved herself away "Why do I interest you and not the other grunts?"
"Oh?" She smirked, holding her chin "So you assume that I'm interested in only you?" My heart dropped "Just kidding!" She put on her smile again "I don't know. I want to stop Team Flare from what they're doing, but something about you just intrigues me" she kneeled down to look at my Fennekin "Professor Sycamore gave me my Froakie before I started my adventure. My friend Shauna also got a Pokémon. I heard that when professor's give someone a Pokémon, there would always be three choices. But that time, there was only two. He told us that a Fennekin was part of our choice, but it was given to someone a long while back who disappeared suddenly" she stood back up to look at me "Are you the boy that disappeared from Vaniville Town?" She's from Vaniville town..? I know who Shauna is, but I never seen this girl in my life.
"That's..." I wanted to be aggressive, but I didn't have the heart to do it "That's not me. Sorry, but you got the wrong guy" I looked at Fennekin frowning at me "My parents gave me this Fennekin before they died" why..? Why did I say that?
"I'm sorry to hear that" Serena held her chest "I'm sorry for bringing back bad memories. That wasn't my intention" I looked away, feeling my body somewhat relax "um... But either way, I still feel like I'm intrigued. You were the first grunt I've met. You stand out the most" I looked at her confused "They were all mean and selfish, but you didn't seem off that way. Not that I would know how Team Flare guys are at first, but I like you" she smiled "That's why I want to know your name" she offered her hand again like last time. I stared at her hand "and get to know you!"
"You're the one who foiled our fossil-finding plans and stole my glasses and expect me to be friends with you?" She pouted
"I didn't mean to steal them!" She waved her arms. I chuckled again, only this time, she noticed "What a lovely smile you have" she smiled gently. I sighed, knowing I can't do anything about her now. She's too much and even if we battle, she's not going to get off my back "It's a coincidence running into you again! I'm so happy"
"Are you?" She nodded and looked around.
"These stones are very interesting... I moved here from Hoenn awhile back. Do you know about these? They're so big and so many" Ah, no wonder I never seen her before in Vaniville Town. She would had been my new neighbor then "Kalos is so beautiful so far" I watched her smiling at the stones before I cleared my throat, giving in.
"The legend of 3,000 years ago has something to do with these stones, but it's too much to really talk about" I crossed my arms "I had enough of wasting my time here. Just leave me alone, will yah?" I have enough on my head. The last thing I want is to involve myself with a girl that's not even part of my team.
"Don't be like that!" She whined, following me when I walked away. My holocaster went off, having my team admin contact the rest of our team to get back to our hideout. I agreed to it and hung up, looking back at Serena watching me with those eyes. It's really hard to not stare at them for too long.
"The technology in this region is so amazing" she smiled at me "I would get one myself, but I'm stuck with this Pokenav from my home region" she took out a device I never seen before "And it's really expensive too! I was thinking to buy a device native to this region, but why bother?" she held her hip, looking to the side "I can afford it, but buying a lot of stuff when I have so much in my bag is meaningless. This works just fine. It's a hassle having money on you when you don't know what to do with it, right?" She looked back at me "Sorry, that was a rhetorical question" she chuckled
"If you have money, you should join Team Flare" I said without thinking. W-Why did I suddenly say that? Do I really want her to be in the same team as me? If she was, we would work together and it wouldn't be so weird to be her friend, but why did I suddenly say that?
Serena looked surprised before smiling "this is inherited money, so I can't just use it so freely, but even if I can, I'm not going to join a team that are full of selfish people who only want what they want and don't care about anyone else. Everyone needs to grow in this world. When you think you want something and you can't get it, it was never meant to be yours in the first place" her eyes went low, deep in thought "Sorry" I snorted.
"Don't worry about it. Wouldn't expect you to understand" she looked back at me "I'm leaving now. Don't follow me" I walked away, and she followed. I had assumed that she was just going to Geosenge Town, so I walked to a spot to hide in so she can pass, but she ended up following me instead.
"Why can't you leave me alone?" I groaned
"I want to know your name" really? Is that all it is? "I really think we can be friends. If you give me a chance and not walk away from me, maybe I can change your mind?"
"Change my mind?" She didn't respond to that and offered her hand again. I sighed, knowing I can't avoid her since she's persistent.
"My name is Calem" her eyes widened a bit, but softly smiled at me and shook the hand I gave her.
"Calem... I look forward to seeing you again" she released my hand and turned away, looking at the stones "You're part of a selfish team, yet I chose to want to be your friend. Being friends with someone who don't care about anyone but themselves" she stood where she was for a moment "It's not bad to be selfish sometimes... you know? But if it gets to the point where you can't find yourself, that's when things need to change... but why change?" She didn't sound like she was talking to me. She looked back at me one last time with her usual smile before waving and leaving. What a strange girl..? Why did I give her my real name..? Why does she seem desperate..?
