"You in the dark!
Let my mind be your path!
Made from hunger, made from fear.
In the last cry for you!
Help me!"
As Louise shouted her unique incantation. Everyone present felt growing fear. Familiars were out right hysterical, trying to fly from the impending danger.
Everything as if by command froze in place, not allowed to move. No sounds from nearby trees, no sound from the everpreasant wind. Everything went silent.
From the symbol of RЯ Emerged a statue.
On the head of the statue was an iron halo clinched to its head with thin metal rods. The face of the statue was in constant grimace, as if in pain. The statue had no eyes. Instead of them, it had a long, narrow, horizontal gap in their place. The statue had no arms.
It wore something similar to wings. The wings were made from wood, glued to its back. From the wings hang, two golden coloured scrolls written in unknown language. The torso of the statue was cracked in shape of the letter Y. There was a disgusting smell of rot coming from the statue. The whole statue was dirty and old. It looked like the torso was made from bronze, but the head was made from rock. The statue had no human characteristic without any muscles sculpted. The chest was entirely smooth.
The statue had no legs, in place of them was just a flat surface. its noticeable lack of appendeges didn't change the fact that it towered everyone present. It easily came to two and a half meters tall.
Nature around the statue immediately turn sickly and started dying.
Something started to happen to Louise.
The eyes of Louise were of state of deep fear. The eyes quickly changed into craze, moving everywhere rapidly with madness in them.
Everyone watched petrified as Louise with inhuman precision and strength procided to cut her face with her fingernails into the shape of earlier diagram. With a wide, insane smile.
One from the group, Tabitha, known from the start that something was dubious about the ritual, but she stayed silent, as always. But as this horror started she immediately recognised the symbol Louise draw, she read about it once, it was the symbol of one of the olden gods, this symbol belonged to the god of fear and hunger.
The god of fear and hunger technically wasn't an olden god. The book was very confusing about it.
The olden gods were more like forces of nature than anything else.
The book she read said that there were eight of such gods. And their are considered a very bad omen. All of theme, even the human one (Who also isn't technically an olden god). Because the followers of such gods often ended up mad. And what is Louise doing is considered extremely gentle from the religions perspective.
Engraving a symbol of the god on the persons face was to give tribiut to the chosen god.
It would be better for Louise if she just not summon anything.
As Louise finished her engeaving and collapsed, the statue cracked further and vanished... and just like the statue the feeling of dread was gone. The wind and the trees started to move again, as if nothing happened.
But no one dared to move.
Louise got tainted
-Infirmary - Night -
Louise woke up with loud gasp. She was in the infirmary. It's night time. Why was she here?
Before she blacked out she was doing something... but... what was she doing, again?
Ah! yes!
She was summoning her familiar! And she indeed summoned something! But... what was it? Her memories are somewhat blurry.
...
Something is not right...
She can perceives more. She can feel the movements of the wind, every single motion has some nuance to it. The pattern of the wind, it's frenzied melody. It's constant, unending! And it's so loud!
The moons feel terrifying.
Her skin! It feels as if there was something beneath her skin! Movement of many small things. It's tempting to scratch.
Her face hurts, as if it was cut with a knife all over.
What happened?
Louise quickly closed all the windows and curtains in the infirmary to minimize wind and for the moons to not see her.
It didn't help much...
The wind was still extremely loud, even behind a stone wall.
She heard beating hearts of everyone in the academy. Their breaths as they sleep. She could hear their conversations too. Not that she could actually tell what they are talking about. Everything was meshing into one single cacophony of sounds... Louise dreaded how it would sound at day time, as everyone would be awake and talking...
It can't stay like this forever... right? No no no. I just need a... a silencing spell, right!
It counts as a wind spell. So I need a wind magic user. Old Osmond is a wind mage but i won't just pester the headmaster about my problems, as grand as my problems may be.
Tabitha is a wind mage and is the best in class so she must know about this spell! Maybe it will be better than normal ones too.
To Tabitha then.
"I-" when Louise tried to speak she jolted back. Her voice was like gigantic bells ringing.
When Louise recovered from her sudden headache and confusion she noticed a wind taking shape to a strand going somewhere.
She had an impulse to follow it.
It lead upstairs. To students quarters.
It guided her to... Tabitha's room. How convenient.
She quickly knocked on the door. Trying not to flinch too hard by the accursed sound.
Tabitha opened the door. She had big bags under her eyes. She was holding a weird book.
