This was it. It was the morning of the sports festival and Uraraka along with everyone else was feeling quite nervous but also excited to see what the next three days would hold. Luckily for them they were able to watch the 1st and 2nd years before it was time for theirs.
Which is why she found herself on the second day sitting next to Deku and Iida eagerly watching the 2nd year's events play out.
"Wow it still amazes me to see all these different types of quirks we're seeing along with how they are using them." Deku mumbled to himself franticly jotting down notes in one of his notebooks.
Smiling fondly at the green haired boy next to her, Uraraka let a small giggle. 'Some things never change.' she mused looking around at the rest of her friends that were also watching the second years until her eyes landed on the surprisingly focused Bakugo sitting a few seats behind them. 'I guess he's just as interested as the rest of us.' she thought, turning her attention back to the front.
"Man, those girls over there are seriously hot!" Kaminari grinned pointing at some second-year students.
'Or not.' Uraraka frowned leaning forward in her seat and deciding to ignore the rest of their conversation and instead listened to Iida and Deku talk about what was going on.
"Gotta agree with you there." Sero grinned while a girl started waving at him.
"What you morons should be focusing on is the event." Bakugo frowned not understanding what the big deal was. All these extras looked the same to him and he would rather keep his eyes on their quirks.
"Yeah dude these second years quirks look way powerful!" Kirishima nodded. "They make mine look weak."
"What the hell you talking about?"
"Yeah bro don't sell yourself short. I would kill to have a quirk like yours and not have to worry too much about getting hurt." Kaminari slapped him on the back making the red head smile.
Turning his attention back to the front, Bakugo was surprised to see Uraraka frowning and clearly annoyed at something while watching the lower classmen. Curious, he leaned forward to get a better look and find out what could've set her off or if there was anything he missed.
"Really?" Momo smiled listening to Todoroki talking to her about two of the 2nd year students currently fighting each other.
'That fuckin Icy hot idiot.' Scowling Bakugo shook his head already aware of the reason why Uraraka was probably upset.

Once the second day was done and over with it was finally the last day of the Sports Festival.
"You guys! This is it! This is our last one!" Mina exclaimed hugging the girls in the locker room while changing into their blue and white gym clothes.
"Oh no no no no we are not doing that today." Uraraka said seeing the sad look already plastered on Minas face and dragging her out of the locker room. "Besides this is still the beginning of the school year Mina."
"I know." Mina took a deep breath trying to calm her nerves. "We got this."
"You bet we do." Jirou smiled along with the other girls as they made their way out.
"Although I have to admit it always does make me somewhat nervous knowing that the whole country is watching. Ribbit."
"Really not helping Tsu." Uraraka giggled.
"Sorry." Tsu grinned.
"I really think we've been a bad influence on her." Mina shook her head with amusement. "I'm so proud!"
"Oh man can you already hear the crowd outside?!" Hagakure jumped up and down as they left the locker room with the guys already walking ahead shouting and howling in excitement amongst each other while walking down.
"Wow excited much?" Jirou chuckled.
"You bet we are!" Kaminari turned to look back at them winking.
"Jirou, are you blushing?" Hagakure excitedly squealed.
"What? No!"
"Come on everyone!" Iida motioned everyone to hurry.
"Yeah, class rep let's do this!" Kirishima shouted throwing his fist in the air and receiving more shouting from everyone.
"Well, I suppose there's no harm in being excited." Yaoyorozu said.
"Definitely not." Uraraka said as she and the girls also raised their fists. "Woohoo!"
Smirking, Bakugo looked over his shoulder before Kirishima and Kaminari grabbed his shoulders jumping up and down.
"IS EVERYONE READY? THE LAST DAY OF THE UA SPORTS FESTIVAL IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!" Present Mic shouted from the stage that was situated in the middle of the arena and received cheers from the audience. "Alright now it's time to introduce the third-year students from every course! LET ME HEAR YOU MAKE SOME NOISE!"
Taking a deep breath Uraraka made her way out along with her classmates who looked equally nervous but had huge smiles on their faces and trying to keep this moment forever in her memory as they stepped into the arena and the crowd went crazy.
'This is it. My chance to prove how much I've grown.' She thought with a determined look clenching her fist on either side of her.
Once Present Mic finished the introduction, he announced that while they were getting ready for the first event, they would hold a long-distance relay race between the courses with a 6-person team since this required a run around the whole school and campus without quirks.
This wasn't part of the actual event so anyone who wanted to participate was welcomed and anyone who wanted to hold off could enjoy the show.
Waving his arms Iida motioned for everyone in the hero course to gather around along with Kendo doing the same.
"Alright now as present Mic has already explained none of us are required to join if we rather save our strength and energy and watch instead, until the actual events begin."
"So, by the show of hands is there anyone who is interested?" Kendo asked seeing a few hands come up. "Keep in mind this is a 6-person team so we should choose our best runners especially for long distances."
"I'm out. I rather sit and watch you guys make a fool of yourselves while I save my strength for the real thing." Monoma said leaning against the wall.
"Not like you were fast to start with." Kendo muttered under her breath receiving a small chuckle from Iida before he coughed.
"Regardless, we should always try our best even if it seems insignificant at the time." Iida nodded. "So, who are some of the fast runners from class B?"
Staring at the hands of those who didn't mind volunteering Kendo grinned. "I'd say Shishida and Tokage. What about class A?"
Raising his hand to his chin, Iida thought for a minute. "Well, I'd say Todoroki, Bakugo and Kirishima."
"Tch."
"What really?" Surprised at the compliment Kirishima proudly lifted his fists. "Thanks for the confidence class rep! I guess all that training with Bakubro seems to pay off."
"You fuckin wish shitty hair." Bakugo rolled his eyes. "And who the hell said that I'd volunteer for this shit?!"
"Woah Bakugo actually decline a chance to win." Mina widened her eyes looking over at the girls in mock surprise.
"Maybe he's maturing?" Hagakure asked, receiving small giggles from some of the others.
"HEY WATCH IT!"
"Erm dude, I think that was a compliment." Kirishima squinted his eyes patting his shoulder.
"Well, I mean it is a race. But if he doesn't want to or can't than its up to him, isn't it?" Uraraka innocently smiled tilting her head, already knowing which buttons to push.
Dangerously narrowing his eyes, he knew what she was doing, and he knew that in the back of his mind he always enjoyed that side of her but unwilling to show it at the moment with everyone watching.
Clicking his tongue and tilting his chin up, he nodded his head towards her with a knowing smirk as to tell her that he'll get her back for it later making her nervously gulp.
"Fine. But your asses better not slow me down!"
"Good pep talk. Always so inspiring." Sero grinned.
"Alright so we have one more spot open!" Kendo said.
"Well Iida shouldn't it be you then?" Deku asked. "Even without your quirk you are pretty fast."
"Ok well then that settles it!" Kendo grinned at him as he stood proudly.
"Very well. I'll shall do my best."
Rolling his eyes as they got ready for the race around the school, Bakugo slowly breathed through his nose, arms crossed while Kirishima and Kaminari were talking to him, but his eyes were fixated on Todoroki talking with Yaoyorozu a few feet away.
"ALRIGHT RUNNERS PLEASE START HEADING INTO YOUR DESIGNATED LOCATIONS FOR THE PRE-GAME!" Mic shouted into the microphone while Mr. Aizawa covered his ears.
"Is the microphone really necessary Mic since you tend to scream anyways?"
"It's what I do man."
Grinding his teeth Bakugo stomped out of the arena keeping his eyes on Todoroki's back while they headed off down the hall.
"Oi! You half and half bastard!"
Glancing over his shoulder as he continued to walk, Todoroki saw the angry look in Bakugo's eyes and recognized it all too well lately. "Whatever it is Bakugo, I'm sure it can wait."
"No make fuckin time now."
"Dude?" Kirishima nervously looked between the two. "Not now!"
"Yes now!" Bakugo stopped in front of Todoroki, making him clench his fists.
"What's this about now?"
"You know very well what this is about so don't fuckin act like you don't!" Bakugo took a step closer to him, but Todoroki stood still narrowing his eyes.
"If I did, I wouldn't be asking now, would I?" he flatly stated.
Cringing Kirishima tiredly dragged his hand down his face. "Guys this isn't the time. We have a race to win remember?"
"I agree." Todoroki said not removing his eyes from the red ones glowering at him.
"You've got some fuckin nerve you know that asshole." Bakugo growled.
"Be careful." Todoroki clenched his jaw taking a step forward.
"You heard me. You already have someone perfect and here you are flirting with damn ponytail the whole fuckin time! What the hell's your problem?!"
"What?!" Widening his eyes Todoroki looked even more confused. "What are you even-"
"RACERS?! WHAT IS TAKING YOU SO LONG?!" They heard Present Mics voice booming through the arena.
"Right! Let's go!" Kirishima yelled nudging both boys forward while Bakugo smacked his hand away. "Settle this later."
X
"ALRIGHT NOW THAT EVERYONES IN PLACE LET'S GET STARTED!" Mic shouted using an air horn.
"MIC!"
"Oops sorry Eraserhead I got too excited. AND THEY'RE OFF!"
As Iida started running being first in line, Uraraka already felt like she was watching from the edge of her seat along with all the other classes who were cheering on their classmates.
"Yeah, go Iida!"
Keeping his eyes trained forward Iida tried not to let any of the other runners distract him as he continued running.
"Woah this dude can really run even without the use of his quirk." Kaminari stared in awe.
"I guess that's the class rep for ya." Sero nodded watching the large screen.
Once he passed the baton over to Shishida, Iida saw that the other courses were surprisingly not too far behind.
Panting Shishida continued to run as fast as he could through the dorms before seeing Todoroki already waiting for him.
"Go!" Handing over the baton, Shishida kneeled over receiving a thankful nod from Todoroki before he sprinted off.
Looking over his shoulder he could see the drones following them around, most likely providing feedback to everyone back in the stadium.
"AND IT LOOKS LIKE TODOROKI IS CURRENTLY IN THE LEAD! BUT HE BETTER HURRY BECAUSE THE OTHER CLASSES MIGHT CATCH UP!" Present Mic shouted.
Now exiting the dorms area Todoroki thought back about what happened earlier with Bakugo. 'What did he mean when he said I already had someone? And why was he mad…again?'
It seemed like all they did recently was fight and he couldn't figure out why. He'd been racking his brain to figure it out, but always came up empty. Before they left on their mission with Endeavor everything seemed just fine, even while they were gone. Maybe he was mad because he didn't join him and Deku on their vacation? No, because if that were the case Deku would've surely said something to him.
'Ok so that's not it.' He seemed happy enough when he came back at least up until he went to Urarakas room. 'But why was Bakugo there in the first place?' During all the confusion and fighting Todoroki completely forgot to ask Uraraka about it.
After that, he couldn't help but worry for her since apparently after talking to their explosive classmate, she didn't seem like her bubbly self and knew something was bothering her. He could admit that while waiting for the others to return he grew closer to her as well as Ashido and Tokoyami, therefore he felt protective of them as well as some of his other friends.
Looking over his shoulder he could see that some of the other runners were still a little far behind as he entered the forest.
Taking a calm breath in he let his mind drift over to the fight in school 'Was he mad because I'm friends with Uraraka? But then he also just now got mad because I was talking to Yaoyorozu about some of the quirks we saw? Does he like her, does Bakugo like Yaoyorozu?'
Shaking his head, he saw Togake waiting with her hand outstretched as he looked once more over his shoulder seeing the other runners now getting closer. "Shit!"
"Come on Todoroki we got this!" she yelled just as he gave her the baton and she ran off grinning.
Exhaling loudly, he felt the other runners run past him while he mulled over everything and caught his breath.
"Oh man, why did I volunteer for this again?" Togake chuckled to herself while running through the forest surrounding UA.
A few more minutes went by before she saw the familiar red hair of a grinning Kirishima. "Kirishima! Boy am I happy to see you!"
"Always happy to hear that!" he grinned, waiving her over. "Come on Tokage just a little more!"
Extending her hand out she quickly passed him the baton before sitting on the ground.
"Thanks!" she heard him shout.
Hearing the rapid movements and panting of the other runners, Kirishima tried to push through the pain he felt in his legs after a while. 'Geez forgot how big this school is. Just gotta get this to Bakubro.'
Grunting Kirishima kept his eyes forwards hoping to see the familiar ash blond spikes soon. "You got this Ejiro. Just push through the pain! Remember without pain there's no victor!"
"Who says that?"
"AARGH!" startled he momentarily lost his footing before glancing sideways at one of the runners who was now next to him smiling.
"Where you talking to yourself?"
"Erm no that would just be crazy…" he sheepishly laughed looking back to the front.
"Right. Well, I'm Keiko by the way."
"Nice to meet you." Kirishima smiled.
"Well, I figured since we're going to be running for a little while might as well tell each other our names, right?" she smiled.
"Well, I'm Kirishima. Nice to meet you running neighbor."
Grinning, she continued to run next to him until they made it up the hill and he saw an irritated Bakugo already getting in position. "TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH DUMBASS!"
"I missed you too man!" Kirishima happily waved. "I'll be there in a minute!"
Seeing Bakugo's left eye twitch Kirishima started laughing receiving a questioning look from Keiko.
"Interesting friendship."
"HURRY YOUR ASS UP SHITTY HAIR AND QUITE FRATERNIZING WITH THE ENEMY!"
Chuckling Kirishima started picking up his pace. "It was nice to meet you, now I better hand this over before he kills me."
"Come on Keiko we're close to beating them!" Bakugo heard the guy next to him shout.
"Tch."
Gritting his teeth Kirishima made his numb legs run faster before giving Bakugo the baton and slumping down on the ground panting. "GO BAKUGO!"
"None of that now." Keiko said trying to catch her breath. "See those?" she pointed up towards bigger drones headed their way. "They're here to take us back."
Grinning Kirishima slowly lifted himself up. "At least I don't have to use my legs for the next few minutes."
Trying to control his breathing while sprinting down the hill Bakugo was surprised to see the other runner almost next to him.
"What surprised?" The guy smirked. "Don't tell me your class didn't think that any of the other classes were good at this."
Glowering at the guy as his black ponytail kept swinging from left to right seeming to enjoy taunting him unlike some of the other students who would usually try and avoid him.
"Name's Sora."
"I didn't fuckin ask."
Chuckling Sora shook his head. "Yeah, heard you weren't a people person. Guess that wasn't a lie."
"Like I give a damn what you people think."
"Well, I am curious as to what you'll think once I beat you." Sora said running forward and passing and extremely pissed off Bakugo.
"THE FUCK YOU ARE!" Sprinting faster they both didn't stop for a while until they saw the view of the arena coming up.
"Go Bakugo go!" Kaminari shouted standing on his seat. Everyone was cheering them on as they started getting closer and closer to the finish line.
"You got this Kacchan!"
Quickly glancing sideways Bakugo saw his whole class cheering him on with proud faces including Uraraka who was shouting along with the others.
"ALRIGHT RUNNERS THIS IS IT!"
Pushing himself further he let out a loud shout along with Sora before crossing the finish line.
"AND THAT'S IT! WOW WHAT AN EXCITING PRE-GAME AND WE HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED YET FOLKS!"
Breathing hard, Bakugo placed his hands on his hips while squinting his eyes up. 'Damnit that guy was fast.'
"ALRIGHT NOW THE WINER OF THIS RACE WAS THE HERO COURSE WITH A CLOSE SECOND BEING THE SUPPORT COURSE AND THIRD GENERAL STUDIES…"
While present Mic continued his announcement Uraraka sat back down with everyone listening in on both class A and B.
"To be fair the other courses did pretty well in my opinion, especially the support course." Tsu thought out loud receiving nods from Momo and Jirou.
"I agree. Especially that one student, he almost managed to go toe to toe with Bakugo." Jiroe said.
"That kind of caught me by surprise too." Kendo said leaning against her seat. "By the way what's the deal with those two lately?" She gestured towards Bakugo and Todoroki.
Turning their heads back to the arena, Uraraka saw the runners walking off towards the exit of the arena with Todoroki talking to Bakugo with anger plastered on his face while the blond continued to stomp his way out.
"Why do you ask?" Mina asked.
"I saw them having an argument right before the race began."
"That is rather strange. But not uncommon this year." Momo said with a slight frown on her face.
"I know what you mean." Jirou said.
Chewing on her lips hoping it wasn't still what she thought it was, Uraraka along with everyone else started to get up and head down to prepare for their events in a few minutes.
"What?!That's ridiculous!"
She heard Todoroki shout and staring wide eyed at the blond once she was inside the hall.
"Oh, crap not again!" Kirishima shouted while he and Shishida were already in between the two. "Guys come on! Bakugo remember those breathing technics I thought you!"
"Fuck those breathing technics!" he barked.
"I wonder what's going on now?" Tsu said next to her since they couldn't quite hear what they were arguing about.
"Whatever it is it needs to stop." She firmly said clenching her fists.
The two had barely managed to even exit the arena before they started arguing again with Bakugo saying something she couldn't quite make out but saw the confused and angry look on Todoroki's face as his eyes flicked to her before glaring at Bakugo once more.
"Oi I'm fuckin talking to you bastard!"
"I heard you! And think your delusional!"
"The fuck you just say to me?!"
"Whatever this is, safe it for later!" Shishida growled before they tried to pull the two from each other's grasps once they started pushing each other and throwing punches.
"Hey hey!" Deku shouted, running past her as he tried to help the others to pull them apart.
"OH, WHATS THIS?! A FIGHT RIGHT BEFORE THE FIRST EVENT EVEN STARTED?!" Present Mic stood from where he was currently sitting. "Hey Aizawa, isn't that your kids again?" he covered the microphone looking over his shoulder at a sleeping Eraser head. "Of course."
"You guys!" Kendo shouted. "Do you seriously want to get kicked out of the sports festival?!"
"Ochaco…" Mina quietly whispered to her receiving a stern nod from the brunette.
"I know."
"THIS DAMN BASTARD NEEDS TO KNOW HIS FUCKIN PLACE!"
"I COULD SAY THE SAME FOR YOU!"
"How about I put you both in yours!" Slapping her hands on both of their chests Uraraka activated her quirk making both boys stare down at her in surprise as they started floating up towards the ceiling.
"OI YOU BETTER PUT ME DOWN ROUND-FACE RIGHT THE HELL NOW!"
"URARAKA…"
"NO!" she glared silencing them both and turning to look at Sero next to her. "Sero, you mind?" Nodding he wrapped them both in his tape while Kirishima and Shishida started lowering them back down like a couple of balloons.
"So, what's going on here?"
Flinching at the new voice next to her, Mina hesitantly looked to see Present Mic standing next to her munching on a small bag of popcorn.
"Not sure…are you here to stop this?" she asked, eyeing the bag which he offered, gaining a smile from her.
"Usually I would, but since it looks like things have calmed down a bit, I rather not take away your last Sport Festivals for you troublemakers. Just be glad Eraserhead is fast asleep right now. But don't let this happen again." He made it a point to address all of them.
Nodding everyone quickly bottled away and apologizing on their way out to take advantage of the few minutes they still had left leaving just a few who helped the two get unwrap from Sero's tape.
Taking a deep breath in, Uraraka was beyond livid at this point, not entirely sure who she wanted to yell at first. Taking advantage of the fact that Todoroki was released from the tape first she quickly followed once he started to walk away.
"Todoroki!" Furrowing her brows when she didn't receive a reply while he continued down the hall and down the corner. "Todoroki wait a minute! What the heck happened back there?"
Halting in his steps she saw him taking a calm breath with his back still turned, refusing to meet her eyes. "Sorry about that. I guess I just snapped."
"Can you tell me what happened?" she said stopping in front of him.
"It was just something he said." she could tell he felt uncomfortable to tell her by the slight blush on his cheeks as various different emotions washed over his face.
"Ok…?"
Seeming apprehensive he pressed his lips together. "Bakugo seems to think that…" Shaking his head he quickly turned on his heels and walked off.
"Wait…Todoroki!' Dropping her shoulders, she swiftly turned to walk back the way she came.
"Dude that was not the way to do it!" Kirishima scolded him finally finishing up to remove the tape.
"Just hurry the hell up will ya." Bakugo said rolling his eyes and crossing his arms over his chest.
"I'm just saying we're a team you know."
"And what? I'm supposed to smile and pretend everything's fuckin alright when I see Icy hot making eyes at someone else, behind round-face's back?!"
Clearing his throat Kirishima shook his head. "No man that's not what I'm saying. Besides you never smile except…" Thinking back on the picture he took last school year; Kirishima moved those thoughts aside.
"That's not the fuckin point shitty hair!" Bakugo stomped his foot before they both saw Uraraka approaching them annoyance written all over her face.
"I'll met you at the waiting room." Kirishima quickly got to his feet and squired away.
"Dumbass." Bakugo mumbled keeping his arms folded.
"Care to explain what that was about?"
"Why not ask Icy hot huh?" he nodded towards the way she came. "You seemed pretty eager to see if he was alright."
Scoffing, she lifted her hands up out of frustration. "You know what nevermind. I can see you're not going to talk either. So why bother even trying."
"Wanna try that again round-face?" He took a small step forward frowning in disbelief. "Who the hell are you saying is not wanting to talk when I'm the one that has been trying to!"
"Ok then why don't you start by telling me what that was about then. Huh?" She said placing her hands on her hips. "Because whatever it was, was clearly enough to run the risk of being removed from the sports festival."
"Tch, don't exaggerate. You heard Present Mic."
"Yeah, I did. And if it weren't for him then you would have! Is that what you want?"
Clenching his jaw, he looked over her shoulder.
"You're unbelievable you know that. Aren't you one of the ones who's usually always so focused on achieving their dreams and becoming number one? I thought you guys moved past this -Yet here you are along with Todoroki pulling something as childish as this!" she puffed her cheeks making Bakugo snap his head back down in her direction.
"Childish?" he said, narrowing his eyes. "Don't fuckin talk to me about being childish ok! Because I wasn't the only one out there!"
"Yeah, I saw."
"Then why are you yelling at me?! I honestly don't know what your damn problem is because if you're so pissed of then why you don't take it out on your precious little boyfriend instead of me because I know that's probably the reason you've been like this!" he said waving his arms in the other direction.
"Like what?"
"This!"
"What are you even talking about?" she asked shaking her head not understanding what he was saying. She could already figure out that he still had it in his head that there was something between her and Todoroki but why would she be mad at Todoroki other than this ongoing stupid fight of theirs.
Frustratingly rubbing his hand through his thick ash blond hair, he made sure to look anywhere else but her, feeling the anger coming out. "You! Him!" Letting out a frustrated growl he looked down the hall. "Look I know that's none of my business or whatever, but I know you've seen what he's been doing. You can't be that damn blind! So, I basically told him…"
"What?"
"That he needed to get his shit together alright!"
Parting her lips and widening her eyes, she started putting it all together. 'So that's what this was about...'
"I told him that…his ass shouldn't be trying to talk to other girls when he's seeing you." Scoffing Bakugo shook his head still pissed at the conversation they had. "And that asshole had the damn balls to ask me if I was interested in ponytail!"
"And are you?" Unable to resist asking even if she already knew the answer or hide the playful tone in her voice as her lips twitch, she continued to watch him glare in annoyance.
"No! But then he proceeded to tell me that it was none of my business if he talked to anyone-"
"Bakugo..."
"- so of course, I told him to eat shit and that I'd beat the living crap out of him if he so much as tries and hurt you -while the whole time his half and half ass, acted like he didn't know what in the hell I was even talking about-"
"Bakugo!"
"What?! You don't have to fuckin shout I'm right here!" he barked stomping his foot and meeting her gaze.
"Are you done?" she asked, giving him a glare of her own.
Scowling, he slowly folded his arms waiting for her to speak.
"Now… I appreciate what you were trying to do, but it really wasn't necessary." She calmly stated.
"The fuck?! Oh, don't fuckin sit there and tell that you're alright with that round-face!"
Clearing her throat and forcing a small smile in annoyance, she pressed her lips together before answering. "Not what I meant there Bakugo. What I meant was that Todoroki and I are not together. That's why there was no need for this…for any of this!"
"Right." he said rolling his eyes with clear sarcasm.
"It's true. And I've been trying to tell you that since the beginning but being the hard head that you love to be, you wouldn't hear it."
Not taking his eyes off her he remained silent for a minute thinking it over. "You sure about that? I'm not an idiot."
Biting her lip, trying not to comment on that statement because she really wanted to disagree with that right now, and saw him dangerously narrowing his eyes as if reading her thoughts. 'Oh, crap forgot he can read me too well.'
"A-anyways, I thought you should know so that you both can stop! Because we have the first event coming up and need to get ready." She firmly stated, walking down the hall and stopping only when he called out to her.
"Uraraka I-"
"Not now." She said over her shoulder.
"Fine. But just know…that you better bring it, because I'm not going to go easy on you or anyone else."
"I wouldn't have it any other way." She smiled to herself as she walked off leaving behind a smirking Bakugo.
X
"ALRIGHT NOW FOR THE MOMENT YOU HAVE ALL HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR! LET'S MAKE SOME NOISE FOR OUR THIRD YEAR CLASSES!"
Taking a deep breath in to calm her rising nerves from the roaring crowd and the overhead fireworks, each class started making their way out.
"This never gets old!" Mina squealed behind her shaking her shoulders.
"This is it guys!"
"Our time to shine." Kaminari grinned fist bumping Kirishima.
"Bakubro aren't you excited?" Kirishima asked looking at the ash blond walking next to him who showed his smug grin.
"Yeah, can't wait to kick all of your asses."
"Yeah, that's the team spiri-wait what?" Kaminari snapped his head in his direction.
"You heard me." Bakugo said scanning all the student now standing around waiting for Present Mic to start. ""Like I said before, I'm here to win."
When present Mic finished explaining what their first task would be, they each had 15 minutes to choose a group of three people. The event was a four-legged race around the outside of the stadium that was already prepared with special obstacles that they had to pass through as a team. The only thing that worried Uraraka was the fact that Present Mic made sure to stress the importance of making sure to pick your teammates wisely.
"Alright. Think Uraraka who should I team up with?' she balled her fist looking at the various students who were already chatting with others and getting groups together. Smiling, she started taking a few steps towards Deku and Iida who were already talking before abruptly stopping.
What was she doing? She needed a moment to think instead of just going by habit. She needed to do this on her own and get out of that comfort zone.
What was it that Hawks told her that one day?
'Fried Chicken is one of the best foods out there. So don't ever judge me for eating it.'
"No not that one…" she shook her head.
'Remember that once you get out into the real world, there will be times when you will need to get out of your comfort zone and go by your instincts otherwise how else will you grow and find out what you are fully capable of." He had said right before pointing a drumstick at them and explaining which restaurants served the best food.
"What is it with Hawks and Chicken? Isn't that like cannibalism?' she started thinking.
"Oi space cadet!"
"EEP!" Startled she rapidly blinked at Bakugo who was peering down at her with an unreadable expression. How long had he been standing there?
"You back?" he asked, tilting his chin, and shoving his hands in his pockets, feeling the corner of his mouth lift.
"Uhm…yeah?" she said scratching the back of her head.
"Real convincing." He said rolling his eyes and looking back over his shoulder where Deku and Iida were standing.
"Sorry, I was just thinking about-" Widening her eyes she let her mouth hang open keeping her eyes on the crowd.
Following her gaze, he saw Hawks chatting next to an angry looking Endeavor eating a bucket of chicken wings.
"Is he fuckin serious right now?"
"Looks like it." She shrugged.
"Tch." Turning back to face her he once again looked towards the other two boys. "Figured you'd be over there by now."
"I thought I would too…"
"But?"
"I don't think I will this time." Lifting her eyes with new determination, she met his red ones before he slowly smirked.
Feeling her chest warm and crawling up her neck and cheeks at the proud look he gave her she quickly tried to shrug it off.
"Got it."
"B-by the way…did you need something?" she curiously lifted an eyebrow and watched Kirishima wave.
Silently shaking his head, he made to walk past her before he looked her over lifting an eyebrow, "Gotta say I miss that cheerleading outfit though." Watching her face turn bright red he chuckled, finally walking past her. "I'll see you in the finals round-face."
X
Securing the binds on their ankles, Uraraka already found it difficult to move.
"Alright so what's the plan again?" Mina asked standing back up and lifting their leg for practice.
"Since we don't know what exactly they'll throw at us, it will be best for Uraraka to be in the middle in case she needs to float us."
"Right." Uraraka nodded at the boy. "And then you and Tokoyami can be defense if we need it as well as offense.
"That's fine and all, but what if there's a time where we just need to run?"
"Well, we won't know until we try right?" Uraraka grinned right as they all took two steps before falling face first on the ground.
"Well, that didn't work out." Mina groaned spitting out grass.
"It most certainly did not." Tokoyami mumbled with his face still on the ground.
"Not a good start." Lifting her face up Uraraka was glad to see that there were a bunch of other groups who were having similar issues. "At least we aren't the only ones."
"Chako babe that doesn't give us the best confidence right now." Mina giggled. "Especially since we are having issues getting up right now."
"Don't worry guys we've got this." Uraraka tapped them both letting them slowly float to their feet and releasing her quirk. "See, no problem." Linking her arms through both of theirs she gave them each a thumbs up. "We'll stick to the plan and if we have to run then as soon as one of us loses footing it'll be easier this way to hold and float us from falling. Tokoyami since we're not able to use our costume do you think dark shadow can help maneuver us?"
"You can count on me!" Dark shadow placed his chin on her shoulder.
"Dark shadow she was talking to me."
"Aw don't be mad Fumikage."
Shaking his head Tokoyami looked at the two girls. "My apologies."
"Don't sweat it. It's funny to watch you have an argument with each other." Mina grinned.
"ALRIGHT NOW IS EVERYONE READY?!" Present Mic shouted making everyone at the audience cheer. "STUDENT TAKE YOU PLACES!"
Breathing out a heavy sight she locked eyes with Dekus who gave her an encourage smile along with Iida and Shinso. Letting her eyes move over to Bakugos red ones who were already staring back at her with a small smirk before he turned to focus his attention to the starting line.
"Alright guys."
"Hey Todoroki, are you alright?" Mina asked the boy standing next to her in the starting line with his group consisting of Yaoyorozu and Sero.
Moving her eyes towards him, Uraraka tried to catch Todorokis gaze but only managed to hold it for a few seconds before he frowned and looked away.
"GO!"
As soon as the words left present Mic, a horde of students started running out and towards the obstacle course.
'This is it!' Using her quirk, the three of them started floating in the air while Dark shadow clung on making sure to keep them going in the right direction.
Floating through the first obstacle they were lucky that they managed to surpass a big number of students that didn't have any airborne quirks and were stuck on the ground. But there were those who did like Deku, Bakugo and Todoroki to name a few who were already ahead of them.
"Should we try and catch up?" Mina asked looking behind at some of the others.
"I don't think we should."
Nodding, she didn't dare remove her eyes from the front. "Tokoyami's right. We're doing good so far. Let's see how this plays out."
Grinning mischievously Mina giggled. "Good thinking."
After a while they arrived in front of a big metal wall on either side with a narrow entry way in the middle. Releasing her quirk Uraraka wiped her forehead from the strain of keeping them up for so long.
"What's the holdup?" Mina asked, seeing Deku and the others climbing up the wall. "Why isn't anyone using their quirks? Wouldn't it be better easier."
"You're right." Frowning Uraraka saw Dark shadow reading something closer to the wall.
"Over here!"
Taking a deep breath, she floated them over closer to the wall before the strangest thing happened and she could no longer use her quirk making them fall to their feet.
"What?"
Tokoyami immediately started reading. "Over the wall or straight ahead."
"Well, that's pretty easy."
"No." Letting her eyes go back to everyone who was having an issue climbing with two other people attached to them she looked back at the entrance. "There has to be a reason why everyone's choosing to go quirkless right now."
"You're right." Mina said, turning back to her other two teammates. "That's because there's no way to make it through here to get to the narrow exit at the end." She pointed to the entry way. "See all that."
Slowly moving to it carefully not to fall they could faintly see red lasers surrounding every inch periodically moving around.
"Makes sense now why the others chose the other way. No matter how difficult." Tokoyami said.
"So over?" Mina asked.
"That seems to be the logical choice."
"We don't have a lot of time the other teams are already almost to the other side." Mina said watching another team starting to climb up.
Darting her eyes from side-to-side Uraraka was still facing the straight path. "We go this way."
"What?!" Gawking Mina turned to her. "Ochaco babe I say this as lovingly as possible but ARE YOU CRAZY!"
"Think about it, everyone's climbing over without a second thought because this is still a race. So, like Tokoyami said from a logical point of view that would seem like the right choice especially since you don't have a whole lot of time to think about it."
"Right…" Still confused Mina folded her arms.
"I see it." Tokoyami said also staring ahead. "It appears you may be right Uraraka."
"Right, from what I can see it looks like clockwork they are constantly moving at the same pattern. So, if we time things right-"
"You want to take that little time window to make it through?" Mina finished. "I don't know..."
"That does seem risky."
"Do you think it's possible?" she asked them. "We can't waste anymore time talking about this. If not, then we can go over. This has to be something we all decide together."
"Well, you know me babe. I live for crazy." Mina grinned nervously. "No regrets right."
Remembering Minas moto from last year Uraraka smiled. "Right."
"We need to be really careful and time this perfectly." Tokoyami said watching the first few teams going over the wall already. "And we better hurry. We don't have much time."
Taking a deep breath, they all tried to calm their nerves while clinging onto each other as tight as possible to prevent anyone from not making it through the small exit.
"I'm sorry."
"Tokoyami chill, this is what you call a hug." Mina laughed.
"I wanna join!" Dark shadow said wrapping himself up against the three.
"Must you always do that?" Tokoyami rolled his eyes.
"Yes, yes I do." Dark shadow grinned.
"Alright guys you ready?"
Seeing them nod Uraraka activated her quirk while Dark shadow tightened his hold around the three to keep them secure.
"Ready when you are." Dark shadow got in position.
"Oh my god we're going to die…" Mina whimpered closing her eyes.
Watching the lasers Uraraka abruptly shouted. "NOW!"
Sling shooting the three forward, Dark shadow immediately wrapped the rest of himself onto the three while shooting through the small opening before it was time for the lasers to change making them all scream in fear while quickly approaching the narrow exit.
"The fuck?" Wipping his head down Bakugo along with the others stared in pure shock at the sight below as Mina, Tokoyami and Uraraka shot straight out of the exit and continued to fly off in incredible speed.
"SEE YA BOYS!" Mina shouted grinning from ear to ear.
"Did they just…?" Todoroki said, staring after them.
"Oh no! I know that look." Kirishima said panicking.
"Dude don't even think of letting go of this wall!" Kaminari yelled staring down at the few feet they still had left to go down.
"Then you morons better hang on because that's exactly what I'm going to do!" Bakugo grinned not even a second later he dropped down with the two clutching onto him. "Let's go! I'm not letting anyone beat us!"
As soon as their feet hit the ground, he used his explosions to propel them forward.
"Damnit." Thinking quickly Todoroki and Deku quickly jumped down after with some of the other students doing the same.
"Break Break!" Tokoyami shouted as they continued to soar through some of the large robots that were waiting for them until the finish line came to view.
"DAMNIT!"
Looking over her shoulder Mina saw the others gaining on them. "Guys!"
"AND WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT! IT'S ALREADY A FIGHT TO THE FINSIH LINE!" Present Mic shouted.
"Just a little longer!" Uraraka grit her teeth as the finish line came closer. "Wait." Squinting her eyes at how fast they were going Uraraka pressed her finger pads together at the last possible minute. "Release!"
Removing her quirk, they started descending with Dark shadow until their feet hit the ground.
"Made it. Mina let out a relived breath. "But why did we stop! We need to go now!"
Nodding her head Uraraka reactivated her quirk. "Tokoyami just give us a gentle push this time."
Smiling Tokoyami nodded. "Understood. That way we won't be caught by surprise during the next round."
"Exactly. As long as we finish in the top for now." Uraraka said as they continued to fly towards the finish line.
"The fuck?!" Bakugo frowned as he and the others caught up. "You already quitting?!"
"Hey guys! How's it hanging?" Kirishima grinned still holding on to Bakugo while he let off another explosion.
"Oh, you know not too bad." Mina smiled.
"Are you fuckin serious right now! Focus!"
"Sorry about this guys!" Kaminari gave them an apologetic look before firing off his electricity with Todoroki doing the same and before they knew it everyone was dodging and firing off an attack eyeing the finish line.
Smiling once they passed the finish line, Uraraka released her quirk with everyone falling all over themselves still tied to each other. "Ow…"
"WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT FOLKS! WHAT A CLOSE RACE!"
"Hurry up and remove this shit." Bakugo mumbled still face down.
Groaning Uraraka lifted her face up to see the other three teams also struggling to sit up just as the rest of the students crossed the finish line. 'That was close.'

After that first event, they were given 45 minutes to cool off before their next one would start. Which they meant to take full advantage of. Walking over to one of the food booths Uraraka tried to listen to what Mina was saying while scanning over the various foods they had available.
"Hey look who it is!"
Turning their heads, they saw Hawks walking up to them grinning. "Great job out there. I was very impressed."
"Thank you Hawks that means a lot." Tokoyami said.
"You were watching the whole time?" Mina asked.
"Of course, I was. Wouldn't miss that!" Turning he saw a couple of people pointing at the three before Endeavor walked over to them. "Hey, you see what they did? And they're my apprentices!" Hawks continued to grin proudly.
Rolling her eyes, she could tell that he was proud of them while at the same time letting his ego grow more.
"Endeavor was watching too."
Glancing down at the grinning Hawks, Endeavor gave him a warning glance before staring at the three. "Nice work out there."
"Thanks…?" Uraraka said watching the pro's eyes glued to her. That was the first time he had ever complimented her or her friends as far as she was aware of, but his overly serious expression was still a little nerve wrecking.
"Oh stop." Hawks said slapping him on the shoulder. "You should've seen it; you guys caught him by surprise. I think I even saw him uncross his arms there for a second and lean forward." Hawks laughed.
"And as I recall you wouldn't stop jumping from your seat." Endeavor glared at him before walking in the other direction. "I have other business to attend to."
"Oh, don't tell me you're still mad about that?!" Hawks shouted after him, sheepishly turning to look at them.
"What was that about?" Mina asked.
"Hehehe…he might still be a little upset because I accidentally spilled my bucket all over him multiple times out of excitement."
"You didn't." Mina gawked at him.
"Sadly, I did." He laughed.

Once everyone was back and ready for the next event Uraraka lazily stretched her arms over her head next to Mina.
"What hell was that back there?"
"Huh?" Looking over her shoulder she saw Bakugo approach with his usual scowling face. "Don't know what you mean." She causally said turning back around smiling.
"You know very well what I mean!" He glowered. "I saw what you did, where you purposely trying to lose?"
Making eye contact with a grinning Mina, Uraraka tried her best not to smile in front of him enjoying the fact that Bakugo looked like he was getting more pissed by the minute as she turned. "Now why would I do that?"
"Tch. You better not half ass this shit."
"I'll keep that in mind." She said showing a small smile.
Looking away his eyes briefly widened before meeting her gaze. "Wait…you-"
"ALRIGHT ALRIGHT! NOW SINCE EVERYONES BACK LET'S GET THIS NEXT EVENT STARTED! FOR THIS NEXT ONE YOU WILL ONCE AGAIN BE PARTNERED OFF WITH THE SAME TEAM MEMBERS AS BEFORE WITH A SMALL CATCH."
Feeling Bakugo standing next to her she gave a small smile at seeing how focused he was on what Present Mic was saying before doing the same.
"SINCE NOT EVERYONE MADE IT TO THIS PART OF THE EVENT, YOU WILL EACH BE ABLE TO ADD ANOTHER MEMBER FROM THOSE THAT DIDN'T MAKE IT TO GET ANOTHER CHANCE. BUT HERE'S THE CATCH FOLKS." Present Mic grinned. "WE WILL NOT DISCLOSE WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY BE DOING UNTIL ALL MEMBERS ARE CHOSEN, SO ONCE AGAIN MAKE SURE YOU CHOSE WHISELY. WE WILL HOWEVER MENTTION THAT YOU WILL ENTER SAID EVENT IN THE ORDER FROM WHOEVER FINISHED LAST AT THE LAST RACE, TO FIRST PLACE ENTERING LAST."
Clenching his fists Bakugo narrowed his eyes at a smiling Uraraka who made sure to keep her eyes towards Present Mic.
Not that her situation was any better since her team did come in 3rd place but the fact that Bakugos came in 1st she knew he must be pissed.
"ALRIGHT GUYS YOU ONLY HAVE 10 MINUTES TO CHOSE THE ADDITIONAL MEMBER BEFORE WE START SO HURRY UP!"
"Shit!" Bakugo snapped before turning to Kirishima and Kaminari.
"Hey Bakugo."
Stopping, he looked over his shoulder.
"I'll make sure to give it my best." She innocently smiled as he stiffened his back. "Just make sure you don't take too long."
Keeping his back turned, she wasn't able to see the small smirk he had before he stomped away. "Bring it."
"That was awesome!" Mina laughed hugging her. "I really thought he was going to murder you!"
Waving her off Uraraka looked around at the students. "We need to hurry and find who we want. Where's Tokoyami?"
"Here." he said walking up to them. "Who should we pick."
