Chapter 2
Chloe dried off the last of the dishes which she had been pushing off for weeks. With that she carefully placed the valuable china into a cardboard box for safekeeping. With that Chloe placed protective padding in between the dishes to help reduce clinging and lower chances of them breaking. With that she taped the box closed and took a sharpie to write a few characters in chinese. To help identify what was she picked up the box and turned her attention to Tommy. Who wore a pink shirt and blue pants; Tommy looked a lot like his father. Even having Timmy's buck tooth teeth while Tammy was more of a mixture between her mother and father. Tommy was assisting Chloe in cleaning out the attic of the Turner house and organizing everything. Chloe moved the box over to a safe location in the attic. One that a certain clumsy 10 year old wouldn't be able to find. Tommy was forced to help move boxes and clean up the attic of the Turner household. As Tammy was too easily distracted and clumsed to be trusted on such a project.
About 2 weeks ago Chloe, Timmy and Tommy had started the process of cleaning up the attic. Which hadn't been cleaned or used since Timmy's parents left Dimmesdale. They started by organizing, then going box by box and getting rid of everything broken, disposable or saleable. The rest was donated to a thrift shop; out of the stuff they could get rid off. Which had opened up a lot of space, but Tammy still wasn't allowed up there. "And with that everything is perfect. Thanks for your help Tommy. Here is your allowance." With that Chloe handed the boy $200 in cash which made his eyes light up. "Make sure your sister doesn't see it, no one wants to deal with her throwing a tantrum."
"I will," Tommy said. With that he placed the dustpan against some boxes and slipped the cash into his pocket. Hopefully away from his sister's every prying eyes. Tammy was a loved family member, but she was a handful to deal with. When she noticed someone else getting something she wasn't getting. "So what exactly is the point of cleaning up the attic? In fact I didn't even know we had an attic. Could I turn this into my bedroom? I could get a flat screen TV there and…" Tommy went on a five minute spill of what he thought a cool room would look like. Chloe didn't say anything, just let him finish before finally interceding in his dreams.
"Not to ruin your dreams Tommy," Chloe said. "But the answer is a no. Tomorrow the four of us? Six of us? I'm never sure when Foop and Anti-Goldie are going to be around. Are going over to my place and we get to clean everything up, put everything in boxes and move them over here. As we finally got enough cash to get some contractors to remodel the house. Basically rebuilding the entire place including fixing those leaky pipes. Which will take about several months so everything in my house has to come into the attic. Away from your sister and her clumsiness as some of this stuff is irreplaceable, or not ours. And I don't want to deal with the drama if some of this stuff gets broken. But to be honest mostly we never had a reason to clean it until now. Out of mind, out of sight."
"Oh," Tommy said. "How much are you expecting?"
"600," Chloe said. "Enough to pay off the rest of your dads mortgage, buy a new car and some money left over. Plus it will add up to thousands in savings that will be put into this house. That's assuming everything is in order the realtor said I could get as high as 800 this after tax, and realtor fees. So as you can see it's a lot of money plus that's not including the money saved from not we're going to save by not having a 2nd mortgage. Homeowner insurance plus all the money for repairs within a few months once my house is sold and that means your dad and I can finally relax a little and enjoy life more."
"Okay," Tommy said. "So can I have the hat?"
"What hat?" Chloe asked and followed Tommy's eyes to the hat that Chloe hadn't even noticed before. "It can't be," Chloe leaned over and picked up the hat. Moving her hand through the faded fabric and sniffed it. A small smile crossed the woman's face as memories from the past resurfaced. Some of her best and worst memories had been taken with this hat. "I don't know how you found it, but you did. Well I'm gonna go, I have a baseball game to get too." With that Chloe dashed out of the attic leaving Tommy behind. In her hand was an old treasure, Timmy's old pink hatt. With all the wear and tear that came with it. Tommy was more than certainly confused, but Chloe was too happy to care.
"Tammy!" Chloe screamed as she ran face first into the wall; the 10 year old girl looked up from her spot. Tammy was sitting on the floor using a pillow over the coffee table in the front room. Foop was sitting right next to her; he was a young boy somewhere in the age range of 6 to 8 years old. A local kid in the neighborhood with black hair, purple eyes and wore dark moody clothes. Though he was a very sweet kid, crazy, but sweet on the inside. Even if he did pretend to be some super villain. He was usually compiled by Anti-Goldie who was nowhere to be seen. The two of them were drawing with crayons while the TV was playing cartoons. "Someone keeps putting walls in my way! This can only be the work of Trixie Tang!" She screamed loudly which got Tammy to sigh. "Anyhoo where's Anti-Goldie?"
"She got in trouble with her parents, so it's just me and Foopy today." Tammy said.
"Oh," Chloe said. "Anyhoo I need the TV remote!" Tammy looked around and handed it to Chloe. Who took it and switched the channel, "And now for the best part of the day. Baseball!" Chloe said with an eager look on her face. Tammy blinked and sighed.
"Not again. I was watching cartoons," Tammy said, annoyed.
"Baseball," Chloe said. Which only made Tammy frown, but she went back to drawing. Alongside Foop who just looked at her.
Chloe leaned against the couch as she watched the game with satisfaction on her face. Smirking as she watched Kit take his place in the strike zone. Chloe wrapped her hand around the soda can as she leaned closer to the TV. Which was still some distance away. Kit hit the bat against the ground as he took his spot in the strike zone as he turned to face the pitcher. The Dimemsdale Pirates were facing off against the New York Bankies. The rich team originated from upstate New York and could afford to buy some of the best players in the game. It was a 6-6 game and if Kit would hit a homerun it was another victory for the Pirates. Kit took his place and the pitcher threw the ball and as if Chloe's prayers had been answered. Kit hit the ball not only did he do a homerun, but hit the ball as something only the MLB hitter could match. Which got an audible squeal from Chloe as another victory for the pirates had been won. 3 games out of the entire season had been won. Which led Chloe to throw her hands into the air in celebration.
Unfortunately due to the sleeping children she wasn't allowed to celebrate. For when Tammy got woken up from her naps she was not a fun person to be around. It was about that time when Chloe finally heard the jiggling of keys. A smile crossed her face as Timmy walked into the room. Wearing his usual work uniform, a white shirt, jeans with a red tie. "Tammy asleep, don't wake her."
"Gotcha," Timmy said. He put the briefcase by the door and walked over towards her. "So where's Anti-Goldie? She's usually here with them."
"According to Tammy, Anti-Goldie got grounded," Chloe said as Timmy wrapped his arms around her. "And on some really good news this season is going to be even better than I ever anticipated. We won against the New York Bankies 7 to 6. I told you this season was going to be great." Timmy rolled his eyes at her.
"Do we have to talk about baseball?" Timmy asked.
"Of course," Chloe said. Sitting up from the couch leaning in towards Timmy with a smile on her face. "Baseball is love, baseball is life. I mean could you think about something better?"
"I have something in mind," Timmy said. Chloe raised an eyebrow with that Timmy leaned behind the couch and pulled out a baseball bat. Handing it to Chloe who looked at it confused as her fingers moved over the polished wood of the baseball bat. Looking over at the brand Chloe realized it was a rather expensive bat and shifted it slightly. A smile crossed her lips seeing the handwriting consigned by one of her favorite baseball players of all time. "Happy Friendaversary Chloe."
Chloe hugged him tightly and leaned in to go for a kiss only for a voice to break up their peaceful moment. Tommy was standing there looking at them. "What's wrong Tommy? I can expl-"
"I don't want to know," Tommy said. "Can you move Tammy to her bed so I can play video games? We finished cleaning and organizing the attic." The two of them looked at one another, but sighed.
"I'll take Foop, he's the lighter of the two…"
After putting Foop and Tammy in the twins bedroom to sleep peacefully. Chloe and Timmy snuck into Timmy's bedroom. Which was the same one Timmy had been sleeping in since he was born. And never bothered to switch to the Master Bedroom instead giving it to the twins. It was one of the few places in the world that Chloe truly felt at ease, but the nostalgia in the room was always warming. "Yeah sorry about that, we had an 'emergency meeting' at work. What a waste of my time. This should've been our day-"
"Shush Timmy I have something for you," with that Chloe shifted into the bathroom. For a quick change of clothes. Switching from her yellow shirt, and blue jeans. Into a yellow sunflower dress with black leggings, sandals and even a pink hairband. It was the same clothes that Chloe used to always wear as a child, but for her now adult body. Taking the pink hat she walked out of the room while Timmy turned his attention towards her. "Happy Friendaversary Timmy." With that she held out Timmy's hat which sat on top of a gift box she had wrapped and saved for this very special occasion.
"Well that's a blast from the past. Hello Ms. Chamericael fancy seeing you here," Timmy said. "Where did you find my old hat?"
"Well Mr. Turner I didn't find it. Tommy found it while we were cleaning out the attic. And I thought this would make a special occasion." Chloe said, "Now open it." Timmy chuckled and placed the old worn out pink hat he opened up the package and Chloe smiled. "I got them in your size, now put them on."
"You shouldn't have," Timmy said. "I'm going to have to put these own aren't I?" Chloe nodded her head and Timmy sighed. "We're grown-" Chloe glared at him. Timmy sighed…
Timmy and Chloe stood looking at themselves in the mirror. Laughing at the ridiculous situation the two of them had gotten themselves into. Chloe had gifted Timmy a pair of clothing similar to what he used to wear as a child only for his added height. Timmy even put on the stupid pink hat which had devoured the two of them laughing. Chloe even snapped a picture adding it to her phone background; this would make this stupid holiday she invented more memorable. "This is bad. Why are we doing this again?"
"Just for a bit of nostalgia," Chloe admitted.
