The weather was nice today. Which made Naruto happy. He liked going on walks around town. As the sun was making his body even warmer, he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned his head to catch Sakura's glance. The girl he most wanted to avoid All Naruto wanted was to forget about her, even if he was still acting friendly toward her. But that was who he was. Friendly, loud, and cheerful
"Are you okay, Naruto?" she asked, her face looking worried.
It seemed like the pink-haired student noticed how fast her classmate walked away from school and his friends. It seemed like he wanted to be alone today, but that wasn't like him.
"I'm fine, Sakura-chan," he replied with a soft smile on his face, trying his best to hide his true feelings at that very moment.
He didn't want to be anywhere near her. He felt like a coward for not admitting his feelings. He had competition. And that competition was between the most handsome guy at school and his best friend. Even if it was no one's fault for what happened, Naruto still needed time to think about it. And find a solution.
"We've known each other for years." She sighed, grabbing both his shoulders and forcefully turning his full body toward her.
Her eyes looked straight into his, making it obvious she knew something was wrong. She was waiting for an answer, but Uzumaki didn't seem likely to speak. And that made her not only worried but irritated as well. Usually, if something was wrong, Naruto would share it with her, even if she didn't want him to. But now, he looked sad, maybe angry, and distant. And it's been like that since he skipped school the other day.
Flashback
It was the first day of high school. Naruto looked at the school with a bored face. He liked school only because of his classmates, but now he didn't know anyone besides his best friend.
"Aren't you going inside?" A soft female voice startled him from his thoughts.
He looked to his left, just to see the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. She had short pink hair and big green eyes. Naruto has never felt this attracted to a girl he sees for the first time. And she only said one sentence, and he was already speechless.
"I'm Haruno Sakura. Just call me Sakura; skip the formalities. Which class are you in?" A wide smile appeared on her face, which made Uzumaki blush and get nervous.
"I'm...Naruto. Uzumaki Naruto. I'm from class 1-B."
"Oh, my god, same!" she giggled, making him even more stunned by her.
She was just so cute. And they were from the same class. Which was exciting.
"Let's go, Naruto-kun. Don't wanna be late, neh?" She grabbed his wrist, dragging him inside the school yard full of so many other students.
Her small, cold hand made Uzumaki shiver. For the first time ever, he was to be touched by a girl. Usually, girls from middle school wouldn't even talk to him.
"Let's be friends, S-sakura." He stuttered while walking beside her. Looking at the other girls around, no one seemed to be as attractive as she was. In his eyes, of course.
"Of course!"
End of flashback
"Narutoooo!" she said, annoyed.
He was lost in his daydreaming when the girl in front of him slapped him gently on the cheek.
"Wake uppp, Narutooo!" she laughed at his confused face after she slapped him. "We are friends, aren't we? You can tell me anything."
He nodded and took a deep breath. It wasn't the perfect moment, nor was it the perfect environment. God, he didn't even prepare a flower, or a gift.
"It's about you, actually," he confessed, avoiding her big eyes staring at him.
Haruno was speechless. She would never say anything too mean about Naruto, or at least not on purpose. She looked up, trying to remember if she had said something to make him mad or sad.
"I've liked you since my first year of high school."
There it was. He said it. He didn't stutter; he didn't run away in an instant or hide his face, yet he still avoided looking directly into her eyes.
"You already told me that. It seems like you have forgotten."
"I did what?" Naruto took a few steps back, covering his mouth.
His pupils got so big, Sakura thought his eyes were about to explode out of his head. For so long, not once has he drunk called Sakura, or at least she hasn't told him he did. Uzumaki took out his phone and checked his dial history, only to find out she wasn't lying. He saw the call, which seemed to have lasted a few seconds.
"And what did you tell me?" He got embarrassed by his actions but decided to continue on with the conversation.
It can't get worse, can it?
"I hung up," she admitted, now avoiding looking at his face. "I can't reply to your feelings at the very moment."
"I can wait-"
"I don't want you to wait for me, Naruto." Her eyes moved to his again. "Just find a girl who likes you just the way you are and is not obsessed with Sasuke," she chuckled, trying to fix up the mood.
Naruto smiled back. He knew she wouldn't return with the same And she was right. Maybe out there was a girl who liked him for being loud, annoying, cheerful, and problematic. Just the way he was.
Sasuke looked around the helpless Hinata's apartment and realized she was kind of messy. Messier than he would ever be. The thought of his house looking messy after his brother almost terrified him, but he liked organizing and cleaning, so it was kind of okay. But Hinata's apartment needed to be reorganized. He almost stepped on a TV remote on his way to her bed.
"You don't have to return the favor, baka." She covered her face with another pillow.
She didn't want him to take care of her after what happened between them yesterday. It was too awkward. Him just casually walking in her apartment, acting normal like nothing happened—all of it!
"Hinata, you look awful," he laughed, taking the pillow from her face. "I grabbed some groceries on my way here. I can cook you something."
"Thanks for letting me know I look like an ass." She cried out, trying to take her pillow back from his hand, but he threw it far away from the bed.
Just as she was about to get up, Sasuke grabbed her shoulder and forcefully put her back down. Why was he acting like that? It was obvious, he was worried, but he made her even more embarrassed by doing what he was doing. The Hyuga didn't want to be taken care of by him, but what choice did she have when he reached for her phone and put it in his pocket?
"Give it back."
"When you say sorry that you threw a pillow at me, then you will receive it back."
The Uchiha chuckled, turning his back to her and making his way towards the kitchen. He left the bag with groceries on the table, and a smile appeared on his face when he heard the Hyuga murmuring something about how dumb he was.
He wasn't dumb; he was just worried about her. He wanted to take care of her and maybe even sleep in the same bed as her to make sure she was okay for the night. He shook off the thought of them being on the same bed, cuddling...and took out the ingredients he needed for his ramen. Yes, he was about to make her warm ramen. That was one of the few meals he cooked to perfection, and Naruto loved him for it.
The ramen was ready, and it seemed like Hyuga had fallen asleep on her bed. Maybe she was bored without her phone. Sasuke sat on the end of the bed, shamelessly watching her sleep. She seemed so calm. Her quiet snores made him laugh. Cute.
"Wake up; it's time to eat," he said, but his words didn't make her flinch even a little bit.
After a few other attempts to get her to wake up with just words, he realized it wasn't going to happen, no matter how much he yelled. But maybe that was his chance to analyze her face better up close. So he moved closer, and closer. His lips touched her forehead, making her open her eyes a little bit. But at the sight of Sasuke so close to her, kissing her forehead, she screamed.
"Shhh!"
Sasuke was irritated by how loud her voice had suddenly gotten and covered his ears. The Hyuga was confused, embarrassed, and a little scared. Why would Sasuke decide to cook for her on his free time instead of going home and doing anything else? The bluenette couldn't understand him. But she did the very same yesterday. Even if not so intentional.
"D-don't just kiss me on my forehead, pervert!"
"How am I being a pervert for kissing your forehead? You didn't want to wake up, no matter how many times I told you to."
"So you just decided it's okay to wake me up...this way?" Her cheeks reddened even more at the thought of his lips being on hers once again.
Did she want him to kiss her on the lips again and not on the forehead? Was she actually startled by his actions or just...wanted more?
"Let's just go eat. I'm hungry as well." He sighed and got up from her bed.
"Wait!" She grabbed him by the hand, avoiding eye contact. "I can't...walk."
She could walk. Slowly, but she could. She just wanted her 'revenge', since Sasuke made her help him to his bed and tuck him in. Sasuke released an annoyed sigh and grabbed Hinata in his hands. She held onto the back of his neck, trying to hide her face by looking away from his. He carried her to the kitchen table and helped her sit down.
"Can you eat on your own?" he asked in full seriousness, passing her the chopsticks.
"Yeah," she nodded.
"No? Let me feed you then." He grabbed them back and filled them with ramen.
"S-sasuke stop it." She blushed when he moved it to her mouth.
"Say 'Aah'."
She shook her head, denying his offer to feed her. Carrying her to the kitchen was one thing, but stuffing her mouth with ramen was another. The Hyuga was fine eating on her own; all she wanted was to tease him a little bit, not make him feed her.
Sasuke ate it instead of her and gave her an evil look, putting the chopsticks back into her bowl.
"What did you girls call that? Hm...indirect kiss?"
"I haven't used the chopsticks yet." Hinata looked angry at him, which made him laugh out loud.
The blue-haired looked so cute when she was mad. At least in Sasuke's eyes. All he wanted at that very moment was to tease her even more, but she was sick. Maybe he can do that another time, but it was such a perfect opportunity.
They continued eating without looking at or talking to each other. As they finished their meal, it was time for Hinata to get back to bed, and once again, it was a good opportunity for Sasuke to feel the warmth of her body while carrying her.
"I feel better-"
Just then, he took her in his hands again, up in the air, giving her a soft smile.
"Today you are sick, princess. I shall carry my princess to her bed."
Naruto was back home, cleaning up his room. Again. His mother was very strict about keeping his room clean at all times. No other boys or girls were allowed to come over to the Uzumakis house, except his mother's girl friends, of course. She didn't have many friends, but it was still unfair.
Naruto realized that he had to start rehearsing for the play, so he finished vacuuming the floor and opened up the script. He started reading, remembering that there was a kiss between Romeo and Juliet. He had to kiss Ino! The blonde guy, just like always, needed his friend's opinion on that. He knew that all of it was just an act, but how was he supposed to kiss Kiba's crush?
Uzumaki dialed Sasuke's number, not expecting an answer, but when he heard his best friend picking up, anxiety grew in him. He didn't know what he was supposed to say!
"What is it, Naruto?" The Uchiha boy seemed to be out of breath, barely mumbling out words.
"Are you working out?"
"Yeah." His breathing stabilized a bit, but it was still not as calm as it should be.
"Sorry for interrupting." Naruto giggled.
Sasuke doesn't usually work out this late; maybe he is doing something else that woke up Naruto's interest.
"It's fine."
"Are you doing something with Hinata-chan?"
"Don't be stupid." Sasuke scoffed, but he was actually blushing, trying his best not to give out what he was actually doing.
"Anyway. I don't think I should play Romeo... Ino is Kiba's crush, isn't she?"
"So? It's just an act. You can just pretend to kiss."
"Damn! You are right! Pre-te-nd!" Uzumaki said excitedly, hanging up the phone.
He returned to reading his lines, trying to remember them. It was too hard for Uzumaki since the image of Sakura's beautiful face was still on his mind.
'Her hair has gotten so much longer.' He smiled and looked at the clock. 'I can manage to remember at least half of my lines.'
"S-sasuke..." Hinata whispered after receiving another kiss from the Uchiha.
He was wild, kissing her endlessly without a single care about her being sick. He wanted her more than anything.
"What is it, princess?" He smiled, caressing her cheek with his fingers. "Do you want me to stop?"
"I have never seen you like that."
"Neither have I." He chuckled and flicked her forehead.
"Ouch. Don't do that."
He laughed at her embarrassed, cute-looking face and took off his shirt, which made the Hyuga ready to slap him. But what he did next surprised her. He pointed at the dates on his shoulder.
"The first one is my mom's birthday; the second one is my dad's."
"Oh!" She carefully looked at it.
It seemed like a tattoo he made at least a year ago, by the looks of it. It definitely wasn't brand new. Hinata began to think of her own parents and how she felt the day they died. Her eyes moved to Sasuke's. They were red, as if he were about to cry, or it just seemed like it.
"I'm sorry," she said, drawing his hand up and down. "We are both orphans. So I know what it is."
"I know, Hinata. And I know I am an ass. I even started kissing you like crazy without even asking." He chuckled and took a hold of her hand. "It's just that so many girls began to crush on me out of nowhere because of my 'mysterious' look. But I didn't ask for that attention."
"I know," she sobbed.
Hinata's eyes were now full of tears. She didn't even know why she was crying. Maybe she felt bad for acting in such a way towards Sasuke all this time without giving him a chance. He was actually a good guy. A good guy who cared about her.
"Ey, don't cry. You are going through the same thing, and I never considered that. And acted like a-"
His sentence was interrupted by Hinata's lips. This time, she was the one to initiate it. And it felt great. Her lips were so soft that he couldn't resist but bite her bottom lip. This time, she didn't stop him. They continued twirling their tongues. Sasuke's hands moved to her hips, making her climb on top of him. Now that he was lying underneath her, she felt confident enough to bite his lip as well. Sasuke chuckled between the hot kisses, opening his eyes.
"Look at me, Hinata."
She stopped and opened her eyes as well. They were so close now, out of breath, their eyes full of lust.
"You are beautiful."
