Chapter Nineteen
Later…
FBI building…
Megan sat at her desk, distractedly trying to look through the computer, though her mind still went back to events of the day, as they really could have lost Don, even if the kidnappers were incompetent.
'What a day.'
While Don's injuries could have been worse, he was still out of commission and that made Megan even more determined to take these guys down, even though she is going to have to wait for a little bit.
'Sometimes Don just has unbelievable luck, given some of the things that have happened to him during the time I have known him.' She thought in awe, as she knew that Charlie probably has calculated the oddities of that but she's not sure if she would even want to know, as they already deal with it on a daily basis, anyway.
The two other men survived the crash, though they were unconscious for the time being and Megan just wanted them to wake up soon so that they could finally determine their motives for first going after the Lauers and Kirklands and then seemingly going after a federal agent attached to the case.
'Maybe it could be some power fantasy mixed with an obsession with the actors.' Megan thought to herself as she also had to deal with another issue.
Who these guys even were, as there was no identification in the car, or what was left of it, and she hated the thought that they were going to have to wait for them to wake up even if they were willing to cooperate at all. Until then she had the database to look through to see if either of them were in the system.
On top of that, she just hoped that they weren't copycats and were the real deal and they wouldn't have to go back to square one. She really didn't want to deal more with the press, as even as she sat there, she swore that she could hear the phones constantly ringing, even when they weren't.
'What a case.' Was all she could even think on the subject before going back to looking through the database, hoping for a new lead.
