I need…to find my Clan…is this my Clan?

Fire…star…star…wasn't his… her… name Firestar? The fluffy tuft of orange fur swung limply in the grasp of a gray tom, his…her mind was fuzzy, the little tom-kit, tom, she-kit, she-cat, how old was he…she again? He…she couldn't focus and think straight. All she could focus on was her little paws hovering over the ground as she was carried along through the marsh.

The little orange tom-kit, she-kit?, was so high off the ground, why was she so high off the ground? Or more accurate, why was she so small? And what was it that the ugly rat looking cat said? "--not everything…close to the start as I can...fade over…new destiny…uncertain…Clan…" Though wasn't there more to it?

These cat's said they would bring her to their Clan so they must be her Clan. The little she-kit didn't know any other Clan and this ShadowClan sounded very familiar.

But these cat's were hardly anyone that fluffy orange she-kit remembered, and the scent, although also familiar, didn't seem quite right. Infact, the scent made the orange furred she-kit want to gag. Did she use to smell like this? And all the wet marsh that they were plowing through, it was nothing like the vivid snippets of running through dense lush forest that she recalled from her scattered memory.

Everything was just off but this had to be her Clan. There wasn't any other, was there?

"Is it really a good idea to bring a random kit back to camp?" Asked a slender, tortoiseshell she-cat with yellow eyes that were staring dubiously at the orange she-kit. Though the little helpless she-kit wasn't paying that much attention to either of the cats taking her somewhere.

"I'm not leaving any kit out here for either a fox or owl to snack on." The cat holding the little she-kit murmured through a mouthful of soft kit fur.

"If you say so, Flintfang." The tortoiseshell she-cat murmured.

The she-kit, or was her name Firestar?, could hardly pay attention as she struggled to grasp her thoughts as they floated just out of her reach. Everything was so muddled in her mind and just felt wrong for some reason. The she-kit was supposed to remember something, everything, but she just couldn't access her memories.

The brush of a thorn caused the little flame ball of fur to squeal as the thorn tunnel they traveled through pricked at her sides. The warrior, Flintfang, grunted an apology and tried to angle her away from the thorny walls.

They entered what seemed to be the camp, which was an unfamiliar hollow with muddy ground that stuck to everyone's paws. It didn't seem right.

The flame-pelted she-kit was aware of many other cats' presence. Their scents were all around the camp and she could hear their murmurs. What they were saying however eluded her. The one thing the little she-kit could focus on was the large, muscular and broad-shouldered, dark brown tabby tom with patchy fur, scars on his nose, amber eyes, and a shredded, torn ear. Everyone seemed to gravitate around this cat as he came and met the warrior who carried her this entire way halfway.

"Flintfang, Fernshade, what is this?" The dark brown tabby demanded, and the little she-kit squealed as his scared up nose buried itself into her fluffy orange fur, getting a good scent of her. "Doesn't smell like any Clan."

"We found the little she-kit wandering around lost near the Thunderpath." Fernshade reported. "We didn't know where she came from and since we didn't want to leave her on her own we brought the kit back with us."

The dark brown tabby Tom nodded, seeming to approve of the two warriors' actions. "The she-kit hardly appears to be three moons old."

"She appears to be much younger than that to me, Raggedstar." Flintfang murmured from around the she-kit's fur, causing Firepaw…heart…star?…to grumble in irritation. Just how far back did…that…rat?...take her?!

"Did she tell you her name?" Raggedstar asked so many questions that she could hardly keep up.

"She hasn't said much of anything." Fernshade answered, "I personally don't think she can tell us or even remember, not with how young she appears to be. Perhaps she was abandoned and doesn't have one?"

Raggedstar hummed, and although the orange ball of fluff couldn't see him, she was sure that he had a look of contemplation on his face. "Then we'll call her Marigoldkit, due to how her pelt resembles the same color."

"You wish to allow her into the Clan?" Fernshade asked, sounding surprised.

"It wouldn't be the first time." Raggedstar meowed, sounding all of a sudden short with the tortoiseshell she-cat's line of questions.

"Of course, Raggedstar." Flintfang murmured, flicking his tail across Fernshade's ears to silence her. "Where will we take her?"

"The nursery, Lizardstripe, can look after her with the other four." Raggedstar replied as the newly named Marigoldkit felt herself being moved again.

"Lizardstripe is going to love this." Marigoldkit felt Flintfang murmur into her pelt.

Marigoldkit was brought to a hollow that was shielded by a thorn bush, the inside was spacious with only one occupied nest.

"What do you all want?" Rasped a pale brown tabby she-cat that laid in a nest with three kits nestled at her white underbelly while another smaller kit was pushed off to the edge of the nest. "Come to wake-up my kits just after I managed to get them to be quiet?"

"That's not it at all, Lizardstripe." Raggedstar meowed, his amber eyes flickering towards the kit that huddled by itself on the far edge of the nest, but said nothing. "I need you too --"

Just then the pale brown tabby queen caught sight of Flintfang firmly holding onto Marigoldkit and her yellow eyes narrowed, "oh no, not another one, you'll be either having to nurse it yourself or take it somewhere else, Raggedstar."

"We don't know where she came from, Lizardstripe." Raggedstar meowed, already appearing to be trying to hold himself back in the presence of this queen.

"Then that's all the more reason to get rid of her now isn't it?" Lizardstripe retorted, "could bring trouble."

"We're not abandoning a kit regardless of where she came from." Raggedstar rebuked, "it's against both the warrior code and I highly doubt any of us would want the guilt if Marigoldkit turned up dead."

"You already named it?"

"Enough grumbling, Lizardstripe. You've fostered kits before." Ruggedstar huffed, eyes narrowed on the complaining queen.

"Oh yes, the one that our oh so amazing leader fathered and then practically ordered me to take care of." The pale brown tabby she-cat sarcastically retorted. "How could I ever refuse?"

Raggedstar's amber eyes narrowed as he stood up and ironically ordered, "you will take care of Marigoldkit. End of discussion."

Marigoldkit watched Raggedstar's blurry silhouette stalk towards the nursery entrance but Lizardstripe seemed to want to have the last word, "Did you father this one too?"

Marigoldkit would have laughed if she could but she was just so tired and just wanted to sleep. A warm body wiggled up to lay right beside the flame-pelted she-kit and snuggled up to Marigoldkit's side. It was comforting and lulled Marigoldkit into a sense of security.

The last thing Marigoldkit heard as she began to fall asleep with another fluffy kit's pelt pressed against her own was Lizardstripe, who said, "Go to sleep you brats, I don't want to hear another peep out of any of you or else I'll give you to a fox."

Fun Facts:

Rock sent Firestar a lot farther into the past then either of them were expecting. Currently Firestar is roughly around either three or four moons old. Hard really for anyone else to tell because of how tiny she is now.

Since Firestar was sent so far back she now has a kit sized brain you could say. She's forgotten a heck of a lot of her memories because of the age in which she was sent back into.

Don't know how she got to the Thunderpath so please overlook that plot hole or conventional speculation on your own. Just know she's extremely lucky.

I never really went in on the genderbent thing, it sort of was glossed over in practically all my other fanfics (because I honestly didn't care to explain beyond the gender just changing because of circumstances) and also the impact it might have left on Firestar because I bet it would be highly confusing for him. I'll try and work with it some (but no real promises but I don't really care all that much about it.)

Yeah, Lizardstripe is a b*tch in Yellowfang's Secret and will continue to be so look forward to that.

Age is really weird because honestly I don't know how old Brokenstar is (same with Tigerclaw and boy let me tell you how hard we searched to figure it out) so we'll make him a slightly older kit than Marigoldkit!!! (Also Tigerclaw's gonna be slightly older than both of them so he's going to be almost a warrior by the time Marigoldkit/paw actually meets him)

It took forever to carefully plan out Firestar's new name but then we realized that there was already a Marigoldkit in ShadowClan but came way later but me and my Beta figured out a way to remedy the situation so we're keeping Marigoldkit as Firestar's new name!!!
