This will be going one not through the lion king but through the show The lion Guard. I will be putting some of those characters into this as well as my own pride. I don't know if I will continue this evenly but if you want me too let me know. As always, enjoy!
Prolog
Troubles
"Your majesty, Alavoor has gotten through." A lioness came up.
"How is that possible?" Amari asked. "He has never gotten this far before."
"I don't know you majesty." the lioness spoke softly.
"Where is King Makena?" Amari turned towards her.
"I.. I don't know. He was the first to be alerted. He said he would handle it." The Lioness stammered.
"Find him." she looked away. "Fast. If Alavoor gets past our defenses."
"Yes, Queen Amari." The lioness ran off.
A little mew came from the little alcove behind Amari. Amari trotted over with a smile on her face. "Shh. It's alright little one." The little lion cub gave another mew and yawned. Her pelt was a solid white much like her fathers. Amari curled around the cub giving affectionate licks.
"Amari!" a voice called.
"Makena!" Amari called back. "In here!"
"Amari." A white lion with a dark grey mane came into view. "You need to get her out of here. Alavoor. He's reached the inner walls."
Amari squinted at the lion. His fur was stained red in some parts and he looked as if he was bleeding badly. "Makena?";
"Take her away." He said as he fell. He gasped. "Far away. Somewhere Alavoor can't hurt her."
"No Makena!" Amari jumped to his side. "I can't leave you. No no."
"Find Simba. He will help. Go through the Western mountains. You'll find him." He gasped again. "Protect Kuf. Find the Pride Rock..." Makena lay motionless in front of Amari.
"Makena!" she pushed him with her nose. "No."
A lioness came up behind her. "Queen Amari. Makena told have to go. Get Princess Kufo out of here."
"I can't leave him." Amari stared at Makena.
"You must." The lioness prodded at her. "For Kufo."
Amari looked to where her cub was laying, not knowing what had just happened. "I'm coming back."
Amari raced over to her cub grabbing her by the scruff. The small cub mewed in protest but Amari ignored it. She rushed over to the tunnel exit as she heard another lion enter the cave.
"Oh Amari. Where are you?" His voice was interrupted by the lioness.
"You don't belong here." she growled.
Amari slipped into the tunnel hearing the two battle in the large cave. She heard it when the large male lion slashed the lioness, killing her. Amari held her breath as she slipped out the exit and ran for the mountains. Tears wafted out her eyes as she held her cub in her jaws. This cub will never know her father. If Alavoor catches us she will never know anything.
Amari ran and ran. First for hours, then for days. She stopped whenever she could for food, but there wasn't much on the bare mountain. Most of the time Amari was holding her cub up and trying to keep the vultures and eagles away.
Amari gave a sigh of relief when she came to the other side of the mountain. A wide expanse of tall grass and Baobab trees led up to a large stone formation way off into the distance. She remembered what Makena said. 'Find Simba.' Who was this Simba? Amari shook her head and picked up her cub.
She made her way down the mountain. It was common knowledge that Amari didn't know who Simba was. When the King knew someone outside of the pride it was for a reason. Not many others knew who they were. Also Amari never liked to socialize with other pride lions. Amari panted heavily as she began towards the large expanse of savannah hoping to find water.
She did eventually. A small water hole with a few hippos. At least she hoped she got them right. Where she was from there were hippos. But these looked larger and more⦠Squishy? She dropped her cub next to her and bent down to lap at the water. Her cub looked at her and did the same. The hippos eyed her and her cub wearily. The hippos where she had lived were no prey. At least to the lions. They were much too tough and hard to catch. The hippos here looked the same.
Amari looked around after she lifted her head. No lions. Was she even in the right spot? Makena had said to go over the mountain. She bent down to pick up her cub and continued through the savannah. Pride rock. That was what she was looking for. She could only imagine what a Pride rock was.
The sun had set and she was now looking for something in the dark. She growled to herself. She looked for a tree close to her. She sighed and went to it, laying her cub down and curling around her. She looked at the small cub only over a week old.
"I'm so sorry little one." she nuzzled the cub. "Don't worry. We're almost there." Amari looked around through the dark. "I hope."
When the sun rose Amari grabbed her cub and began her search. Things would go much faster if she didn't have to carry Kufo.
As the sun began to set the second day here in the savannah Amari was about to find a tree to sleep under when she saw another lioness. Actually a group of lionesses. They were all talking with each other about something. An announcement of sorts? Amari trailed behind them, careful not to be seen.
She followed them till they reached a giant rock gouging out of the ground. She looked around until she saw a lion. He was sitting atop a rock stunting halfway out of the ground. Next to him a lioness was nudging him affectionately. She backed away, careful not to make a sound. Kufo gave a quiet squeak and Amari froze.
Everyone turned but not her direction. Instead they looked up at the rock the lion and lioness were witting on. A pair of lion cubs were stumbling around and squeaking at each other. Both looked to be about the same age as Kufo. Kufo in turn started squeaking and squirming in her mother's clutch.
She quickly turned around and ran out of sight. Panic hit her as she set her cub down. Tears started down her eyes. "I may never see you again."
The cub stopped squirming and squealed questioningly at her mother. Amari licked her cub and looked at the cub's pale blue eyes. "You will always be mine, Kufo. Always."
She nuzzled the cub. Amari looked back towards where the pride was gathered. It seems whatever had happened was over. The lionesses were all organized into hunting groups. Amari supposed now would be the best time. She picked up Kufo and headed for the strange lions.
At first no one noticed her from afar. But as she got close the lionesses looked at her questioningly. She held her head high with Kufo in her grasp. As she got closer to the rock the lioness on top hopped down to see her.
Amari stopped in front of the lioness and bowed her head. "Hello." she set Kufo down in between her front paws.
"Hello." The lioness eyed her. "Who are you and why are you here?"
"I am Queen Amari of the Easter Pride. I have come looking for someone by the name of Simba." she stated.
The lion at the top pricked his ears and jumped down alongside the lioness. "I am King Simba. What brings you here, your majesty?"
"I have come to ask for help." She held her head high but her voice was sad. "My pride has been overrun by a great evil. Our King has been slain. I seek protection for my daughter."
Simba walked forward. "King Makena is gone?"
"Yes." Amari nodded.
"Please come in and speak with me and Nala about this." Simba walked back towards the rock.
Amari picked up her sleeping cub and followed behind the two. She went up the side of the rock and turned into a cave. It was empty and looked similar to her den back home.
"When did this happen?" Simba sat down.
Amari sat down and dropped Kufo at her paws again. "About three days ago. Alavoor stormed the pride. Makena went to go and try to stop him." Amari looked down at Kufo. "He was unsuccessful."
"I'm sorry to hear that," Simba looked at Nala. "You can both stay as long as you need."
Amari looked up. "I can't stay. I have to try and stop him. If I can't. I need Kufo to be ok."
Nala looked at Amari. "Are you sure? You'd be leaving your cub."
"I know." Amari looked at both of them. "I may never come back but I need to know Kufo will be safe. Alavoor would never think of her being here. He'd rather assume she's dead."
"How can you be sure of that?" Simba asked.
"I would set my life to say that. He won't come." Amari said definitely.
Simba looked at Nala who looked at him. "Very well. Kufo can stay here. Would you like us to send you some back up?"
"I would appreciate that." Amari breathed.
"We'll send a couple of lions with you." Nala nodded.
"Thank you. For everything." Amari thanked them.
