Ready to marry the man she loved (the love of her life), Carly realized she wasn't at all nervous about proposing to Freddie. And she knew she wanted to be the one to take this big step after working through her unresolved issues with her biological mother (they were never going to have a relationship but at least she and Spencer had found closure with the woman). So, after shopping for an engagement ring (with input from her family), she came up with the perfect plan. Which meant of course, that everything went to hell because that was the way her life worked. But she embraced the chaos and decided to let it happen when it felt right.

That meant Carly wound up proposing to Freddie during a relaxing day at home, in sweatpants, watching reality TV. She grabbed the engagement ring out of her purse and turned to face her confused boyfriend. "What is it?" he asked her.

She got up off the couch then got down on one knee, the ring box in her hand. Freddie's breath caught in his throat. "Is this really happening?" he asked, echoing the conversation that led to that relationship.

"I hope so," a beaming Carly responded. She sniffled as tears formed in her eyes. "Fredward Benson, you're my best friend and the love of my life. I love our family, and raising Millicent with you. Will you marry me?"

"Damn fucking straight," he responded, and they both laughed. She handed the ring over to him and he slid it up her finger then kissed her. "I love you, Carly."

"I love you too," she murmured.

They both stood up and made out for several minutes. Running out of patience, their eavesdropping friends joined them so they could celebrate Carly and Freddie's engagement.
