With Charles Martinet having stepped down from voicing Mario and moved on to Mario Ambassador, there's bound to be a new voiceover of everyone's favorite Italian plumber. Still, I'm excited to hear more about the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Wonder!

Over the years since the first time they met (at least in a dream world), 9-Volt and Phoebe had grown to love and enjoy all kinds of Mario games that ever existed on Nintendo consoles, from Super Mario World to Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Mario Kart: Double Dash!, Mario Party 7, and even Super Mario 3D World. In most of those times they'd let 18-Volt, Kat and Ana join them in on the fun.
One day, after deciding to take a short break from playing the recently released Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons on 9-Volt's Nintendo Switch, he and Phoebe heard the news from his mother - at least from what Mona told her - that Charles Martinet was officially stepping down from his longtime role as the voice of Mario...and moving on to the well-deserved Mario Ambassador role that Nintendo had just created for one as legendary as he.
"Here's to Charles Martinet," said 5-Volt, "one of the best voice actors who ever lived. Cheers!"
"To Charles Martinet!" Shirobon and Pretty Bomber blurted in unison. They came by from their home planet Bomber to visit their two best Earth friends.
"To Charles Martinet!" 9-Volt and Phoebe followed suit.
The group of five raised their cups of soda to gently clink against each other's.
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot to announce something else!" 5-Volt paused momentarily to finish her Chuckola Cola. "Mona also told me Nintendo's doing their Super Mario Bros. Wonder Direct livestream this week! Aaron, Ami, Bill and Lance will be watching it too and they'll want us to join...well, after you get off school, that is. Blaze Bomber and Arctic Bomber have to work, but they can always watch it later."
A dream come true indeed. First it was announced that Daisy would finally join in with Mario, Luigi and Peach on an adventure that isn't a spinoff, and now there's gameplay footage to be livestreamed on social media. 9-Volt couldn't help typing an email to send to Pit and Phosphora.

Wouldn't you believe it's been a long time since that last 2D game, New Super Mario Bros. U? I'm pretty sure you might've heard it already, but Charles Martinet just stepped down from voicing Mario and moved on to Mario Ambassador. Isn't that great? I think it'd be perfect for him, plus I'm curious who the succeeding voice actor's gonna be!
Oh, if you're wondering, Phosphora, no, Hasebe and Mami aren't causing us any trouble...well, aside from gloating about how they won yet another Splatfest. Misako wasn't kidding when she said they've always been jealous of her and Kyoko ever since early childhood! Oh boy, I still remember the one time you gave those two little snoots a frizzy hairdo with your big ball lightning for spamming Booyah Bombs on us over and over! Can you believe that? One zappy ball to the face and they chicken out!
I guess me and Phoebe could use a little more practice, but hey, being with you two in all the battles we took part in together, really helps us to not be scared because you're right here for us, you're our guardian angels...
Still, I'm worried that Shiver might be on a power trip here. And I really feel bad for poor Frye! Big Man's okay, it's just...it's a long story. But Pheebs and I cheered Frye up by building a sand castle with her at Peach Beach! And guess who also helped! Billy, Jimmy and Marian came over to where we were and made a big sand sculpture of Kyoko, Misako, Riki and Kunio!
Aaand...selfie moment! I'm really happy the Lee brothers are spending their time with Marian after being away from each other in River City for so long.
She explained that she was just annoyed with constantly being punched in the gut by all sorts of bad guys, and wanted to be able to overcome her obvious weakness. I mean, who wouldn't wanna do just that if it kept happening to you all this time? Still, she was happy to know that her rescuing herself for once and - how did Aaron and Ami put it? Taking after Mr. Mike Haggar? - encouraged Billy and Jimmy to open up their own training dojos and pass on their skills to newcomers. And now that the trio's back together again after Mr. Sabu was sent flying...well, I think it's safe to say that's another story!
But with these legendary abs of hers, I think Marian would make a great fitness trainer in River City! Don't you guys think so, too?

With that finished, 9-Volt clicked "Send". And just in time for Phoebe to playfully cover his eyes with both her hands.
"BLAAAAAH!" she giggled.
"Phoebe!" he laughed with her as she took her hands off and kissed his cheek.
"Hey 9-Volt, do you think maybe these Wonder Flowers could make useful tools for our future adventures alongside Shiro and Pretty?"
"Hmm...y'know, I dunno. There's just so much to learn about their 'Wonder Effects', but I'm sure we'll find out more about them."
Shirobon came by to offer his thoughts on the matter. "Imagine riding on a long pipe like a horse to get across rough terrain!"
Pretty Bomber added with a hint of excitement on her face, "Or turning into a spikey bowling ball and busting through blocks that stand in your way! WHOOOSH! CRASH! BOOM!"
"The Wonder Flowers sound more and more amazing by the minute!" Just then, 9-Volt thought of something and snapped his fingers. "Say, you guys wanna have a go at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge on Gnarly in preparation for that Dimension Shellshock DLC?"
"Y'know, 9-Volt," replied Phoebe, "I was thinking the same thing. Let's go for it! I'll ask Pit and Phosphora - well, either them or 18-Volt and 13-Amp - if they're free to join us for a six-player online session."
