Summary: No matter where she was, trouble kept finding its way to Kagome. The supernatural she could handle just fine, but this was anything but. Kagome, ever oblivious, just wants to live her life.

Prologue

Kagome was a girl of many skills and very few fears- or that was how she preferred to see herself. She had stared down countless demons and monsters before, so how come this was what kept her frozen in place? Why was this the impact he had on her?

She, as strong and as capable as she was, was undoubtedly unnerved the longer he stared down at her. His eyes, a shade of blue a few hues lighter than her own and undeniably pretty, stared down at her face. She felt as if he was judging her appearance, but his expression didn't exactly give her anything to back that up. She'd seen him around a handful of times, but she never bothered to interact with him outside of general polite smiles when he caught her eye in the parking lot or hallways.

"You're a tutor, right?" he asked after a long pause. Kagome blinked owlishly when he finally spoke. His voice was slightly gruff, but not in a bad way. He asked as if he already knew the answer. After a second, she gave a nod.

"Yeah," she said. "Every now and again when I have the time." She looked him over, brows furrowing slightly as she let her gaze settle back on his face. Dirty blonde hair framed a handsome face, just as long lashes framed those light blue eyes. She arched a brow, lifting a hand to tuck a lock of hair back over her shoulder. "Don't tell me that you need a tutor," she remarked after a pause. He really didn't seem like the type to care, even if he did need one.

Her comment brought a smirk onto his face, and he shook his head a second later. "Nah, not me," he responded. "My um.." he twirled a finger in the air as he thought of the words to say. "My um step-sister does though," he said. She didn't miss the hesitation he had in his voice at mentioning her, or the way it seemed to aggravate him, but she didn't let it phase her. "If you're any good with brats, that is."

Her prior unease at being cornered in the room alone with the taller man had seemingly faded the longer their conversation drug on. At first, she'd been taken aback when he caught her in the room before she could follow the rest out. That, and the empty way he stared her down certainly hadn't made her feel any better.

The conversation had replaced any unease she felt.

Kagome stifled a laugh as she nodded. "I'm great with kids," she reassured with a smile. "I'm Kagome, by the way," she told him her name. "I don't think we've ever really talked before this, but either way," she continued with her smile still fixed on her face.

"No, yeah, I know who you are," he responded. With the number of times he'd heard her name brought up in the halls in passing, he knew her before he realized who it was. How kind and approachable she was, but he didn't exactly care. The comments he was more familiar with were the ones on her body and appearance. Petite with wide hips and a nice chest to match, and a face as lovely as a jewel. It was no wonder why she had so many admirers. "You've just got one of those faces, y'know?" he said when she looked up at him confused.

"What does that mean?" she asked, brows furrowed in confusion.

"The unforgettable kind," he responded. "Too pretty not to know your name."

Kagome felt her face flush bright pink, and she looked away from the boy in front of her. She really had to question his taste in girls, then. "Thanks, but I'm really not…-"

"Who told 'ya that?" he asked, interrupting her.

Her thoughts shifted to Inuyasha, and she rubbed the back of her head. "A um… an ex, actually," she eventually said.

"Well," Billy said, taking a step closer to her. She felt far smaller than she ever had under his gaze. "Fuck 'em then," he said. She met his gaze, eyes wide as he smirked. "Some guys just have shit taste, but, hey, makes it better for the rest of us."

Kagome shook her head and stifled the urge to roll her eyes at his comment. She didn't know what he was getting at, but she could tell he was having fun by his aura. She, however, was not one for teasing.

"I should go now,' she remarked, carefully stepping to the side so she could go around him. "I'd be happy to tutor your step-sister," she added before she tried to leave. She didn't get far before he'd taken her by her wrist, his hand easily fitting around it. She stumbled to a halt, glancing up at him. The grip didn't hurt, but it was tighter than she expected.

"This afternoon," he said, grip firm on her wrist so she didn't move. "Meet up out in the parking lot?" he suggested.

She looked up at him, meeting his gaze. She thought it over for a few seconds before she eventually nodded. When she did, his grip on her wrist fell. The skin on her wrist was a little red, but she ignored it. She's had much worse, after all.

"Sounds like a plan, Billy," she said. "See you then."

Auroua-chan: Billy is both loved and hated by me. He's certainly something. He'll be a special little problem for Kagome, but they'll have a unique relationship.

Kagome and Steve friendship (+possibly more?)
