Prologue
Perci sighed as she laid in bed, waiting for Morpheus to come and sweep her away. It has been almost four years since the Giant War, almost three since she got her own apartment in New York, and almost two since she had begun to feel the want of another adventure.
She was a demigod, having a 'normal' life especially after what she has gone through in the past decade, made her a little bored of everything. She needed, no, wanted something new, a new adventure, maybe a place where she belongs…
Don't get her wrong, she loved spending time with her mother, Paul, and Estelle. She loved taking the occasional trip to Camp Jupiter and Camp Half Blood where she spent time with her friends without worrying about someone trying to destroy everyone and everything. However, it always looked to her as if everyone was all moving forward while she was stagnant.
Annabeth had gone to the college in New Rome after the Giant War and had graduated with a degree in architecture and when not designing new temples on Mount Olympus, would be designing mortal buildings. Nico traveled with his boyfriend Will whom had become a doctor and so neither of them were home much.
Clarisse had opened a fitness gym in New Mexico and lived there now with her boyfriend Chris. Connor and Travis Stoll took their love of pranks and opened a joke shop franchise that was extremely popular and lived out in Chicago with their girlfriends.
Leo and Calypso still lived at Camp Half Blood, having taken over as activities director when Mr D left. Hazel and Frank were still in Camp Jupiter, training the new campers that came there. And finally, the last of her friends - Piper and Jason - split their time between both camps and spent much of their time training the next generation of demigods.
As for herself? She hadn't gotten a degree, or opened her own business, or stuck around the camps to train others. Perci had gone home and finished high school but did not pursue a higher education. She had instead gotten a job that paid well enough for her to get her own apartment in the same building her mortal family lived in.
Perci sighed heavily once more as sleep still eluded her. Her thoughts changed from her mortal and demigod family/life to that of her father.
Last year for her birthday, her father had gifted her a bag that was almost exactly like the TARDIS. On the outside it was a little crossbody bag and in the inside it was pretty much bottomless, weightless, and obviously way bigger on the inside. While exploring the contents of said bag, she found a large box that wouldn't open at all, numerous boxes of ambrosia, vials of nectar, extra clothes, money, bandages, weapons, alcohol, nonperishable food, and more. When Perci had questioned him, he had only said the Fates had instructed him to give it to her.
So consumed in her thoughts of the past, she didn't even notice drifting off to sleep.
But she did notice when in the middle of a dream, her surroundings changed abruptly into that of a white void.
"Hello?!" Her voice echoed back at her.
"Young demigod…" a voice rasped behind her.
She gasped and whirled around to see a figure the completely contrasted with their surroundings. He was a tall man with a circlet on his flowing black hair that transitioned into water. A black beard and piercing, glowing blue eyes that seemed to be able to see directly into her mind. Water flowed down and around him as if it was him, as if the water only formed this shape to give her some form of comfort.
"Who are you? Where am I?" She demanded.
"My name, young one, is Ulmo and I am the Valar of the Sea. I am as your father wherein we both come from the Creator and are both that of the sea. I have come here to offer you what you've been longing deeply for. A place where you'll belong. The world that we Valar rule over, is much different then the one you reside in. But there is no shortage of adventure, it is a place that needs a demigod, of rather a Princess of the Sea who has led her people to victory with terrible odds. Will you come? Will you help us?"
Perci was seriously considering it. "How do I know what you say is the truth?"
He seemed amused by her, his eyes twinkling merrily. "Let me tell you about our world, and then you shall decide." He proceeded to tell her everything about Middle Earth and Perci - despite her wariness - was fascinated. She knew deep down that she could trust him; he reminded her greatly of her father and half brother Triton. They all were connected to the oceans in their worlds and so she felt a type of kinship towards Lord Ulmo.
After he had finished speaking, she began to ask questions.
"So why do you need me? It seems that this Sauron is gone."
"Because he will rise once more, in 1000 years time as the Weaver has foretold. And if he wings, not only will Middle Earth be doomed, but so shall your Earth. Our worlds are intertwined enough where if one falls, the other shall as well. The Fates and Weaver have both predicted that a Daughter of the Sea would be our salvation. Also, the box that was gifted to you inside of that bag, is meant to assist you here in our world… I ask again, will you come?"
Perci was silent. This was a big decision that she couldn't just jump right into. "Why come now? Why not in 1000 years?"
"There is a whole world out there waiting for you to explore it. When the time comes, you will need allies - which takes time. Time moves differently between our world: one year in Middle Earth is the equivalent of a month on Earth. You would also be granted the lifespan equivalent of an elf so that you will remain the age that you are now."
A whole new world… 1000 years… new adventures… a place where she might belong…
"I accept."
"Excellent."
