Chapter Nine

The next morning Diana woke up slowly and began to get ready for the day. Klaus and Elijah had disappeared last night as Finn and Kol escorted her from the motel to the plantation that they were staying at.

Arriving downstairs, Diana made her way into the kitchen and began to make herself a bowl of cereal. Sitting on the counter as she enjoyed the quiet of the house, Diana almost jumped out of her skin after raising her eyes to see Klaus leaning against the door way, just watching her.

"Klaus?" She questioned. He quirked his lips and made his way over to her. He reached up and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear.

"Good morning, love. Sleep well?"

"Not really. I always have trouble in new places… I was actually wanting to speak to you, now that we have a somewhat moment of privacy. I'm sure your brothers - if they are here and awake - can hear us."

"That's true." But he waved her on as he still stood before her, his hands placed on either side of her legs as he caged her in.

"What are your thoughts on this whole thing? Like I don't want to get your hopes up only for them to be dashed if the baby isn't yours. And I don't want you or your family going through the trouble of protecting me when we aren't family."

"Oh, love, that's nothing you need to worry about. Yes, my siblings and I have murdered and committed heinous crimes throughout our long lives. But you have been the only one that hasn't had tried to pit us against each other for your own gain. In fact, you tried to lessen any trouble you might've brought into our lives. Which is extremely rare, love, as everyone wants something from the Mikaelson Family. We see that, we've seen that since the morning after all those months ago." He raised a finger as she opened her mouth to interrupt. "And if the little one turns out to not be mine, we will not have any regrets as you have become Rebekah's friend, and Kol's friend through your little texting sessions."

He saw the little smirk curve her lips and knew exactly what she was smiling about. "And yes, I know some of their pranks were because of you."

Diana laughed at his words as thought back to the bonding and pranking she had done via Rebekah and Kol.

"And what about you?" Diana asked, raising an eyebrow.

Klaus sighed, a faint smile curving his lips. "I suppose I've grown fond of you as well. We will protect you and your unborn child even if it isn't mine. I promise."

Diana held his gaze for a moment.

"Good… now what about taking me to an obgyn appointment?"

"A what?" Klaus had no idea what that was.

"Its a baby doctor, Nik." Rebekah said as she appeared.

Diana's eyes lit up and she hopped off the counter and rushed over to her blonde haired best friend.

"Bekah! Oh its so good to see you! Are you here to rescue me from all the testosterone?" Diana asked as she uncharacteristically hugged the surprised woman. Once her actions caught up with her, Diana jerked back and shook her head with a grimace. "Sorry, I don't know why I did that."

"Mood swings are common in pregnant women." Kol said as he swept into the kitchen and towards the fridge.

Diana grimaced again. "Yeah, let's not call me that until I get it confirmed by an actual doctor. I don't trust anything that Sasha said last night."

"Her name is Sophie," Finn said as he came in from the back door. Diana rolled her eyes.

"Sasha, Stacey, Sophie doesn't matter. I'm still going to kill her when I'm no longer connected to her." She turned her head attention to encompass all of the siblings as Elijah joined Rebekah in the doorway. "So, what's the plan?"

"Plan?" Elijah asked.

Diana rolled her eyes. "Come on, Elijah, none of you are stupid. You don't live to be a thousand years by being stupid. What is the plan to stop the witches from trying to control you all via me and to avoid having to kill Marcel, Klaus's former protege?"

"Yes, who are we going to have to kill?" Rebekah asked.

"Mm, potentially no one." Elijah mused but at all of the looks shot at him he smirked. "Okay, potentially everyone. Diana, I'm sorry to have to say this but unless its for a doctor appointment we are going to need you stay inside. And when you do leave, two of us will be with you at all times. I won't give any enemy a chance at kidnapping you again and holding you ransom. Find the doctor you want to go to and we'll make it happen. Also, Niklaus, you are on Marcel duty. Find out why the witches want him dead and how he is controlling them. Kol, try to get an in with the witches like you always do and see if any of them would be willing to risk it. If I recall, there are other covens in New Orleans, not just the French Quarter Coven. Finn, most likely you will be with Diana the most as none will recognize you as an Original and will underestimate you. Rebekah, you try and get Marcel to talk to you as well, try to get any other information that he won't spill to Niklaus. As for I…" he trailed off as he thought. "Well, Niklaus and I will come up with something for me to do."

"Just don't dagger your siblings, Klaus," Diana warned. He looked at her innocently. "Nope, I don't care how much they get on your nerves. Snap their necks if you have to or bite them but no dagger. In order for all of us to come out of this triumphant, I need all of you mobile. And can't really do that if one or more of you is daggered."

"As you wish, little love," Klaus vowed as he kissed her forehead as he walked past her.
