Chapter Eleven

This chapter will have mentions of miscarriage and loss.

Later that day, Diana was sitting in a waiting room for a doctor with Elijah, Finn, and Klaus with her. Klaus was going to be hunting down Marcel after the appointment and because of Elijah's rule of Diana not leaving the house with less than two Originals with her, Finn and Elijah were going to take her home.

"Diana?" The assistant announced to the waiting room of other expectant mothers. Diana stood with a deep breath.

"Do you want one of us to come in with you?" Finn asked softly, clearly having seen the tension building in her.

"Uh…" she hesitated. In truth Finn and Elijah reminded her of Cas with a bit of Michael sprinkled in. And well, Kol definitely reminded her quite a bit of Gabriel. And Klaus, well, he was a potential father, wasn't he? "Actually, can all three of you come with me?"

Trading glances, the three brothers stood and trailed after her as the answer to her question. The tension slowly dissipated until only a bit remained.

"You have an entourage with you today!" The assistant tried to joke but it fell flat at the look Diana shot her and quickly led her into the room where she motioned for Diana to hop up onto the bed. Elijah leaned against the wall while Finn and Klaus sat in the chairs. "Here is some additional paperwork that you'll need to fill out while you're waiting for the doctor."

Diana looked over the paperwork as the assistant left and couldn't hold in a groan. "What is it?" Finn asked.

"I don't have health insurance. So I'll be paying for this and all future appointments out of pocket."

"Why don't you have health insurance?" Finn asked.

Diana shrugged. "Never really had it when I was a kid so never saw a reason to get it as an adult."

"Don't worry about the money, love." Klaus said, dragging her eyes away from the paperwork as she filled out what she could.

Diana rolled her eyes at him. "I can't just not pay, Klaus."

"I didn't say not pay. I said don't worry about it. I'll pay for this appointment and any future appointments. Don't worry about it."

"I can't let you do that!" She protested.

Klaus shrugged. "Too late, my mind is already made up."

Their slight argument was put to a halt as the doctor came in. Elijah took the paperwork from Diana and began to fill out the health insurance information without her realizing it as she turned her attention onto the obgyn.

"Hello! I'm Doctor Kono." Doctor Kono had slight Asian features and long brown, almost black hair pulled back into a hair tie. The two women shook hands.

"Hello, my name is Diana." The brothers couldn't help but notice that whenever it was required to say her name, Diana never spoke her last name and when Elijah peeked down at the paperwork filled out, the last name was absent from them as well.

"So, what brings you in to see me today?"

"Well, some people seem to think I'm pregnant but I'm not so sure myself as I haven't experienced many, if any, symptoms."

"And is this your first?" The men were shocked when Diana shook her head.

"No, this isn't… I uh, lost them after a bad car accident," Diana choked out as memories tried to crawl their way back but luckily she was able to push them back.

"Did the attending say if you would have any future complications because of it?"

"No, I don't think it was brought up… it was a pretty stressful time and they might have thought I couldn't handle it if there was more extensive damage."

"Okay, do you have the records of that visit?" Diana reached down into her bag that she rarely is without next to her and grabbed the medical folder that she had from when she had been in the hospital after the accident.

"I do."

"Thank you, we will add this to your file and return these to you. Now, my assistant already took a urine sample from you as well as a few blood samples. While we wait for those, lay back and we'll get an ultrasound going."

Diana took a deep breath but leaned back, placing her head on the pillow. Diana looked over to see the three brothers watching her intently, especially after her revelation about her previous pregnancy. She avoided their gazes after a moment as the doctor came around to her other side.

"Okay, lift your shirt up for me to just under your breasts." The machine was turned on, and gel was put on the tool she was going to use. "Now this gel is going to be really cold."

Diana breathed in sharply at the sudden coldness of the gel but otherwise didn't turn her attention away from the screen.

It was a few minutes before any of them spoke again. Diana barely noticed as Klaus came to her side and took her hand in his.

"So, I can tell you two things from looking at this," Doctor Kono said, still moving the wand around. "You look to be about two months, or just over two months pregnant." Diana, as well as the three brothers, sucked in a breath at that confirmation. "And two, you have two heartbeats in there, not one."

Diana gasped softly. "Are you saying that I'm having twins?!"

"It looks to be that way." The doctor didn't notice the glare that Diana gave Klaus. "I'll print out some pictures for you to bring home and get your prescriptions sent in for multivitamins and anti nausea pills just in case."

Doctor Kono wiped Diana's stomach gently and helped her sit up, ignoring how Diana was still glaring at Klaus the whole time.

"I'll be right back." The doctor said as she left the room, giving Diana the chance to hit Klaus's arm.

"Twins?!" Diana hissed. "You got me knocked up with twins?!"

Klaus ducked his head, not able to hide his smile. Elijah came to his rescue as always.

"Niklaus, Diana, congratulations on your upcoming parenthood."

Diana sighed, the anger draining out of her as her attention turned to Elijah and Finn whom were smiling at her in joy as Finn also offered his congratulations.

"Thanks, Elijah, Finn," Diana leaned into Klaus as he stood beside her still and allowed him to support her as she drew strength from his steady presence. She jerked up suddenly. "Oh, what am I going to do? I don't know how to be a mom! I barely know how to be an adult!"

Klaus cupped her face as he drew her attention to him. "Relax, little love, you aren't doing this alone. You not only have me whom is also going to be learning how to do this, but also you have the rest of the Mikaelsons in your corner. Everything is going to be alright."

Diana breathed deeply. "Okay, yeah, you're right… man these mood swings are going to be a real b*tch to deal with. They are like a rollercoaster that just keeps on going."

The doctor walked in with a binder and handed it to Diana whom promptly put it in her bag as well as her medical folder that had been handed back.

"I also added some great pregnancy and parenting book suggestions in there if you are interested. I'll see you back here in a month's time unless you need to come in sooner for an emergency. This is my card, feel free to text me or call me with any concerns you may have."

"Thank you, Doctor Kono, I really appreciate it." Diana was helped off the bed by Klaus as Elijah led the way out of the doctor's office with Finn trailing behind, and Klaus walking beside Diana with her hand clasped in his.

After they got to the car, Klaus kissed Diana's forehead softly.

"I'm going to go track down Marcel and start on my side of the plan. Please do as Finn and Elijah say, little love."

Diana smirked up at him as she started to get into the car. "No promises."

He groaned but shot looks at his brothers as they got in as well. They nodded in agreement with his look that they would keep an eye on her. Klaus stayed where he was until the car was out of sight. Then he was off hunting down Marcel to see if he would be a threat or an ally to his little love and their children.

A few days later, Diana sighed as she sat in the window sill as she looked out on New Orleans with the windows open to get a breeze in the house. She was in the living room with Kol and Finn being her 'protectors' when she saw someone that she wasn't expecting to see in New Orleans of all places.

Diana's sudden jerk into attention attracted the two brothers' attention.

"Dee?" Kol asked, sitting up from where he had been lounging on his phone.

"I'm going outside. Don't try and stop me." Diana somehow beat the two Originals to the door as she raced outside but they stopped her before she could get to the gate.

"Diana, what is it?" Finn asked as he held her in place. The two brothers were disturbed at the sight of their friend in almost tears.

"Please?" She begged, trying to push past him.

They exchanged glances before sighing.

"Alright, but we're going with you." Finn said.

"But you are going to stop Nik if he tries to dagger us for letting you put yourself in harms way." Kol said but Diana only nodded as she darted between them and out onto the street as she raced to whom she had spotted.

She yelled their name, causing them to jerk around and barely catch her in time as she leaped into their arms. The two clutched to each other as they took comfort in seeing the other alive and here.

"Diana, oh where have you been?! We missed you."

"I miss you all too!" Diana sobbed out as she buried her face in their neck. "I've missed you all so much!"

She pulled back to lock eyes with Cas.
