The next chapter is posted! Enjoy :)
Setg-in awoken sometime later that day.
He noted his body was still sore and stiff. The yautja warrior went to move when he felt something soft touching the bare parts of his body. He furrowed his eye ridge and peered down at himself.
He still had his vision mode on 'ooman' setting and he noticed there was some kind of soft pelt draped over his body. It appeared to have some kind of silly picture on it from what he could tell.
With a small inaudible grunt, he slowly sat up. The soft pelt slid down his body as he did.
When it pooled at his hips, that's when he saw bright white little strips of fabric on his body. And they were covering his wounds. His eyes widened in surprise. Someone had actually treated his wounds while he was out.
'The female.' He thought.
Who else would've done it? He was still in the same small shed he stumbled into. And she was the only one in the home by this shed. So, it had to be her.
Question is, why?
Most oomans that have encountered his kind would either scream and run away or engage them in combat. He should know, because he has hunted oomans before in the past.
But this one for whatever reason, chose to tend to him and patch him up.
It was both very confusing and baffling. And it left him wanting answers. Answers only the small ooman female could give him. Yet, at the same time, he thinks it may be wiser to move on.
She may have helped him, but that still didn't mean he trusted her. Who to say she still won't call the authorities on him.
He already has too many other people breathing down his neck and he doesn't need to add oomans to the mix as pursuers. The last thing he wanted was to be stuck in some ooman lab somewhere and as their lab rat.
Setg-in carefully stood up. His body still ached but at least he got some energy and strength back.
The yautja left the shed and went outside. It finally looks like it stopped raining. Though it was still misting a little. He looked around until he caught a whiff of something in the air.
Whatever it was, it smelt good. And it made his stomach grumble.
He found himself a little torn between leaving and finding the source of the wonderful aroma.
But the more he thought about it, he still wasn't in top condition enough yet to hunt for food. So, he made the decision to follow the smell. A smell that was coming from the home a few yards in front of where he was standing on the grassy lawn.
He walked around the outside still following the smell. As he passed by a couple open windows, the smell became stronger. He peaked inside and saw the same small female currently with her back to him as she was putting things on a small, round table.
Setg-in watched for a moment longer, then left the windows and walked a little further down. And that's when he found a door that led inside.
He reached down and grasped the knob, knowing that turning it would open the door. He's seen oomans do it plenty of times when he hunted here and knew how some things worked.
He twisted it and then slowly pushed it open. Then he quietly walked inside.
It lead into a small opening. And on the wall in front of him there were articles of clothing hanging up on hooks. He turned his gaze to the left to find an opening that led into another room.
And it happened to be the room the female was in.
Thea was at the stove stirring the beef stew in the pot. When she caught movement out of the corner of her eye. Her gaze shifted to the spot, and she gasped, dropping the wooden spoon to the floor.
Apparently, her strange visitor was feeling better and was now up and about.
Setg-in tilted his head and a few clicks left him. This ooman female was even smaller than he thought. She barely came up to his chest. And right now, she appeared to be frightened of his presence.
'Why is she frightened? She did bandage me up after all.' He thought.
"Umm, Hi." She squeaks out.
He found her high-pitch tone rather amusing and chuckled a little.
Her dark brows shot up when she heard a strange trill like sound coming from him. It was like a mixture of chirping and hissing. A very strange combination of sounds.
But what came afterwards, is what truly surprised her.
"Ooman, why help?" He asks, in a deep gravelly voice.
"Wha...what?" Thea asks.
"Why help me?" He asked.
'Holy shit! He can speak English!?' Her mind screamed.
Then she remembered, he just asked her a question.
"Because...you were hurt." She replied.
"Why help if afraid?" Setg-in inquired.
Thea fiddled with the ends of her tank top.
"It just...seemed like the right thing to do. I was...well, still am afraid. But at the same time, couldn't leave you to bleed out like that. You obviously needed help. So, I patched you up." She said, shrugging her shoulders.
He nodded, at what seemed like an acceptable answer.
"Who are you? Better yet...what are you?" Thea asks.
Setg-in was silent. He wasn't sure he should answer those questions. But he reminded himself that she did help him. The least he could do was answer a few of her questions just like she answered some of his.
"Name is Setg-in. I am yautja." He told her.
"Are you...an alien then? Because it's obvious, you're not from around here." She implied.
He gave her a short, sharp nod.
'So much, for little green men. Well, he is mostly green. Just not little. Guy's got to easily be over seven feet tall.' She thought.
"You name?" Setg-in asks.
"Thea." She says.
"Thanks for help, Thea." He told her.
A small smile touched her lips, "You're welcome."
Setg-in looked around a little, still scenting the air.
The aroma was very strong in this room. It appeared to be strongest by the ooman female. He noticed a medium sized metal pot on top of a blue flame. Then his gaze shifted to her.
"What is smell?" He asks.
At first her mind drew a blank at what he meant. Then realized he must smell the stew she was cooking.
"It's food. I'm making dinner." She replied.
A moment of silence passed by, before she spoke again.
"Are you...hungry?" Thea asks.
"Yes." He said, unable to ignore his rumbling stomach any longer.
"Ok, it should be done in another five-minutes. Uhh, you can sit down at the table over there if you want." She told him.
Setg-in could tell by her body language and the look on her face that she still appeared nervous and a little afraid around him.
While he was dubbed a bad blood, he was still not completely without honor. He would still never harm a female or younglings. Unlike the ones he had just escaped from, that was his crew.
He slowly approached her.
As he did, the scent of her fear started mixing in with the aroma of food lingering in the air. Yet, she stood frozen to the spot and didn't move a muscle as he got closer to her.
Setg-in now stood before her. He noted she started to shake a little. The large male began to purr then slowly reached up and lightly placed his large hand upon her shoulder, making her flinch.
"Don't be afraid. Won't hurt you." He told her.
The warrior lightly squeezed her shoulder, then moved away to give her space again.
Thea didn't realize she was holding her breath and let out a long exhale. And Setg-in went to go sit at the small round table like she offered.
She glanced at him for a moment longer. Then she remembered, the wooden spoon was still on the floor at her feet.
The young woman reached down to grab it. Then she went to the sink next to the stove and started washing it off. Afterwards, she went back to check on the stew and stir it again.
Thea then placed the spoon off to the side and went to one of the cabinets. She pulled out a second bowl for her 'alien' guest. Then she went into the drawer and pulled out a spoon.
She placed the bowl on the counter next to hers by the stove. She then checked the timer on her phone. Before turning back to him.
The young woman felt like she had a ton of questions she wanted to ask him. But was unsure how to ask them. Like how he got here and why he was here.
Though, it's obvious he must've got here in a spaceship. But the question is, why come here at all though?
"Is...is there a reason why you're here? On Earth I mean?" She asks.
Setg-in pondered how he could answer that question.
He can't exactly tell her the truth. That the bad bloods he was with tried to kill him and he escaped, only to find himself here. And that his ship had been destroyed.
He also knows she will want to know why he came here in such bad shape.
So, he figured he'd lie.
"Was curious. About Earth. Wanted to see." Setg-in lied.
Thea arched a brow, "But...why were you injured?"
"Got in fight with bear." He replied.
Heh, if that were in fact true, it wouldn't be a first time.
Setg-in encountered bears on Earth before. He actually enjoyed hunting the large predators. They were strong and worthy prey. He had a couple bear skulls back home.
Her eyes widened momentarily.
"Damn, sorry to hear that. Definitely not a way one would imagine starting a trip in a new place. Though, I'm a bit surprised. Usually, black bears shy away from people and aren't usually aggressive.
You must've somehow managed to piss one off. Perhaps you ran into a female with cubs. That's one of the only times, they tend to be aggressive." She stated.
He can't say he ever hunted that kind of bear before. The ones he hunted a couple times, he heard oomans call them grizzly bears. And those fuckers were pretty aggressive to him.
"Probably. Or just felt threatened. Yautja very intimidating to most." Setg-in said.
Which was true, his kind was very imposing and threatening to most.
"I can believe it. When I first saw you, definitely scared the hell out of me. But then with that armor and what looks to be weapons on attached you back and hips, along with your size, it's kind of hard not to find you to be intimidating or scary." She said.
Then it hit her, if he was here because he was curious, why the weapons?
Thea opened her mouth to ask him. When the timer on her phone went off, signaling that the stew was done. Setg-in bristled at the noise and looked around growling. The young woman saw this and realized the strange sound must've startled him.
"It's ok, it's just my phone. You're safe." She calmly told him.
Then she got up and crossed the kitchen to the counter, the yautja watched her as she picked up something flat and rectangular. She tapped it and the noise stopped.
Thea turned off the burner. Then she grabbed a ladle on the counter that was sitting next to the wooden spoon.
She picked up the first bowl and started filling it up with stew. Then she picked up the second bowl and repeated the action. Though she put way more in his bowl, seeing as he's a much bigger person.
She placed the ladle down, stuck the spoons in the bowls, then grabbed them, and brought them over to the table.
The young woman placed the bowl down in front of him, the steam wafted up into his mask, and he couldn't wait to dig in. But something stopped him.
Thea put her bowl down and sat across from him. She picked up her spoon and was about to eat but paused when she saw him just sitting there staring down at the bowl.
"Something wrong?" She asks.
Setg-in raised his gaze to meet hers.
"Face may frighten you. Different than own." He told her.
She didn't give it too much thought that his face would be all that different from hers.
Not when everything else about him looked somewhat similar to a human. He was bipedal like a human. His overall body shape was like a human's. So, just how different could his face possibly be?
"Is it really that different?" Thea inquired.
He nodded, "Yes. Probably scream."
Ok, now she was a tad nervous but at the same time, very curious to see what lay beneath the mask.
"It's ok, really. You can take it off. Won't be able to eat with it on after all." She lightly teased, trying to lighten the mood.
Setg-in tilted his head a little.
"Don't say not warn." He told her.
Then he slowly reached up and grasped his mask.
Thea watched as he pulled these little tubes out of the side of his mask. Then he grabs it in both hands and starts to pull it off of his face. He gradually lowers it down, watching her the entire time.
She braces herself for what she's about to see. And nothing could've prepared her for it.
The young woman noted a large cranium that sloped back. And it led down to a pair of deep-set eyes that were bright amber in color, like a cats eyes. But the most shocking feature had to be his strange, otherworldly mouth.
There were these four large pincers with small tusks at the ends, that surrounded a smaller mouth filled with sharp teeth.
And those black tube-like appendages actually sprouted out from the sides and back of his cranium like hair. She also noted there were these strange round beads decorating them.
He sat there staring, almost waiting for her to scream. Just like every other human that happened to see his face did.
Instead, she sat there silently, just staring, with her spoon still half raised to her mouth. He'd be lying if he didn't say he found it to be somewhat amusing.
"You, ok?" He asks.
Thea snapped out of her daze, when she realized, he was talking to her.
"Oh, uhh, yeah. Everything is good. Definitely, different. That's for sure." She blurted out.
Amusement was ever present in his gaze. She certainly had funny reactions to him.
"Thought same when see ooman." He told her.
She furrowed her brows, "What is an ooman? It kind of sounds like human."
"Human, yes. You, human." Setg-in said.
"Well, yeah, I guess I must look just as equally strange to you." Thea replied.
He nodded, "Yes, you very strange. But still help me."
She gave him a small smile, "Anyways, I won't keep you. Go ahead and eat."
Thea then brought up a spoonful of the soup and began to eat.
Setg-in looked down at his bowl and grabbed the spoon. He scooped up some and brought it up to his mouth. She watched as he opened those strange pincers of his and brought the spoon to his mouth.
He could taste the meat and vegetables mixed in with a flavored broth. The warrior found it's taste satisfactory and continued to eat his meat.
She watched as he helped himself to at least two more helpings, bringing it to a total of three bowls. But then he was huge and must've had a bigger stomach then a human.
Even Thea helped herself to a second bowl.
By the time they finished, there was hardly any left in the medium sized pot.
'So, much for leftovers. But at least he ate. It's obvious the guy must've been very hungry.' She thought.
Afterwards, she took the bowls and spoons. She rinsed them out in the sink, before putting them in the dish washer. Then she emptied out the tiny remnants left of the stew into the garbage.
She rinsed out the pot, and washed off the ladle, and wooden spoon. Before putting them in the strainer to dry.
When she turned around, Thea was surprised to see that Setg-in was no longer in the kitchen.
She went to go see where he went and found him walking around her living room. He was looking at a few objects, picking some up and observing them. Then he spotted her t.v. remote and picked it up.
Setg-in noted there were buttons on it. He curiously reached up and pressed a few. But it didn't seem to do anything.
Until he hit the red button that had a circle with a line going through it up in the left corner of the remote. That's when something did happen. He heard a noise suddenly to his left.
The warrior quickly dropped the remote and unsheathed his wrist blades with a savage growl.
Thea's eyes nearly popped out of her head when she saw the large, deadly blades pop out of the metal wrist gauntlet. And right now he had them poised at the tv mounted on the wall above her mantle.
"Woah! Hold up! It's ok! It's just a t.v. It's completely harmless!" She exclaimed.
Setg-in's eyes shifted back and forth from her to the screen showing moving images and making noises.
"T.V.?" He repeated.
"Yeah, you watch it." Thea told him.
He gave her a somewhat funny look.
Which she actually found kind of funny and cute at the same time. She was relieved when the blades retracted with a sharp metallic sound back into his wrist gauntlet.
Then she cautiously made her way around the couch and slowly picked up the remote from the rug.
"Here, look." She said.
Then she pressed a button.
Setg-in saw that the image changed when she did that. And that this image was different than the last. The more he thinks about it, he does recall seeing these strange screens before in ooman dwellings. He saw a few through their windows from the outside. But had never given them much thought.
"What it for?" He asks.
"Entertainment." She replied.
His gaze shifted from her back to the t.v. He tilted his head and looked at the screen with the moving pictures. It was like moving images that one would see in a hologram. Only this wasn't a hologram. This picture was flat.
"Want to watch something?" Thea asks.
Did he?
He supposed, it wouldn't hurt. It was something strange and new. But interesting at the same time. Oomans may have not been as technologically advanced as the yautja. But they still had some neat little gadgets.
This apparently was one of them.
Setg-in turned to her and nodded.
Thea gave him a small smile, then she went to sit down on the couch. She gestured for him to do the same. And a few moments later, the cushions on the other end of the couch sunk down as the heavy creature sat down.
She went into her Prime Video Account and went to one of her favorite series.
With what he's wearing and the weapons he was packing, she kind of feels he maybe someone who was into action or possibly horror. With that in mind, she went with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and started to play Season One, Episode One.
Right before the opening scene started though, she still had one question on her mind.
"Hey, I've been meaning to ask. If you're here visiting, why do you carry weapons?" Thea asks.
He didn't say anything at first, but then his eyes eventually shifted from the t.v. screen to her.
"I hunter. Would like hunt animals while here." He told her.
It seemed to be a good enough explanation for her.
She did after all notice that he was wearing a strange, corded necklace around his neck. And it did have some bones and what looked like tiny skulls decorating it.
"Well, there is definitely an abundance of animals in these woods." Thea said.
They talked only for a couple more minutes. Because he seemed rather interested in what was playing on the screen. And she didn't want to keep interrupting him.
At least so far, he was proving to be a civil houseguest, despite his intimidating appearance.
And hopefully, that's something that will last.
I can't help but feel like if a yautja were to watch something on t.v. they probably would like something with a lot of action, violence, and gore in it. And I can't see a reason why they wouldn't like a show like Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
It's what I would put it on t.v. if I had a yautja for a houseguest. And why not? It's a kick ass show. I'm a dork that has all seven seasons on my Prime Video. XP
Until Next Time ;)
