The Beginning
The History of Cybertron, chapter 1.
It was the beginning of the War in Heaven. The Necrontyr had gone through the process turning them into Necrons, creating an army of soulless automatons for their masters. The C'tan.
Their enemies were the Old Ones. A nearly immortal and intelligent species that lived up to their namesake. As they were theorized to be the first species in the galaxy to gain sentience. They shaped the galaxy with their advanced technology and potent psychic powers, seeding life on planets they traveled to.
As the War in Heaven began, the Old Ones created soldiers to fight the Necrons. The noble Aeldari, and the cunning Krorks. But to have an army, it must have weapons.
Desperate, the Old Ones converted two of their most beloved machines.
The first, a manufacturing station the size of a moon. Its original purpose to manufacture the ships and technology of the Old Ones, was changed to make weapons of war. The manufacturing station was given sentience, as it would be able to determine the most efficient amount of weapons to be built, and where to send them. And it was given a name. Primus.
The second, a terraforming station used to seed planets and make the atmosphere livable. Instead it was turned into a resource gathering station that could directly interface with the manufacturing station, providing it with resources. It too was given consciousness and a name. Unicron.
The two were brothers, working side by side against the C'tan and its forces. Unicron would break down a Necron controlled planet, and give the resources gathered to Primus. It was nearly impossible to stop Unicron, as he had been outfitted with armor and weaponry courtesy of his brother. Primus would convert the resources and necrodermis into weapons. These were wielded by the Aeldari and Krorks against the Necrons on the front lines.
The Aeldari thanked the brother's for their gifts, and the Krorks promised to fight in their names.
Unicron, in a mixture of luck and a premeditated plan devised by the brothers, was able to consume the planet where Og'driada, the risen, rested for the time being. The C'tan was devoured by Unicron, destroying the necrontyr body and trapping part of the C'tan's power inside. Unicron gave the molten necrontyr to Primus, who crafted a single weapon with the metal.
The spear of Og'driada.
Seeing one of their own weaponized by the creations of their sworn enemies, enraged the C'tan.
It was eventually realized, however, that Primus on his own was practically useless in a fight. This was discovered when Unicron was away collecting resources for his brother, Primus was attacked.
A force of Necrons, lead by Aza'goro the Nightbringer, in an act of revenge for the destruction of Og'driada teleported onto the planet Primus was currently docked on. They destroyed the factories he built, and ruining his creations. Primus, enraged and in a desperate attempt to save himself, changed his directive. Instead of making weapons, he made drones, his own soldiers to fight.
They were rushed, and very rudimentary. Only able to compute the most basic of orders, and being controlled directly by Primus himself.
Deployed directly onto the planet, Primus built a more advanced drone controlled directly by himself. This drone wielded the spear of Og'driada, originally designed to be used by an Aeldari or Krork soldier but instead created so the drone could wield it.
It stood at equal height with Aza'gorod the Nightbringer. Scythe met spear in an epic battle. Whether it was the Old Ones ingenuity or the sheer power given by the spear, Primus was able to hold his own against Aza'gorod's necrodermis body.
Harnessing the power of Og'driada within the spear, allowed Primus' drone to manipulate time on a small scale. Slowing down the battle, allowing it to keep up with the C'tan.
Blows were exchanged, spear struck the C'tan. And scythe struck the drone. Even with the power of the spear, the drone lost to Aza'gorod.
But as the battle went on, Primus had a secret goal in mind. In space, he built a rudimentary canon. Quick, and effective. As he had the chance to damage Aza'gorod the Nightbringer.
Powering up the canon, a large laser shot down from orbit onto the surface below. Aza'gorod, seeing this attack coming, moved to leave the planet. But the damaged drone jumped onto Aza'gorod, restraining him for only a moment. But that moment allowed the laser to hit.
It glassed the planet, destroying drones and Necrons alike. Damaging Aza'gorod's and separating the C'tan from its necrodermis body.
A blow struck against Aza'gorod, but not a fatal one.
As the war raged on, Primus grew wanting of the ability to move again. Controlling that drone had given him a new sense of freedom that he had never experienced before.
As a side project, Primus worked with Unicron as they modified their bodies. Primus used both Old One technology and devices of his own design, as he meticulously modified the stations they currently occupied.
Once he was finished, the two brothers floated next to each other. Nervous, but trusting Primus work.
And together, they transformed.
As the War in Heaven came to a close, the Old Ones were growing desperate. And out of their desperation, they created a new species. The Jokaero. An orange furred alien species that had a knack for creating tremendous technological innovations with barely any resources.
Primus, at first, was insulted by the creation of the Jokaero. He was supposed to be the manufacturer for the Old Ones after all. But he began to grow fond of the orange aliens, enjoying that they could share their interest in technology. While not having a language of their own, Primus found that they could communicate technologically.
But even with all of the Old Ones technological prowess, they lost the war in heaven. Their enemy needed not to sleep, or eat, and could teleport to any battlefield in an instant.
Primus and Unicron made the hard choice to retreat together, as they could tell the war was lost. The two left, floating away into space, Primus bringing the Jokaero along.
And so, the Old Ones were massacred. The War in Heaven had destabilized a parallel dimension referred to as the Immaterium. This caused an influx of beings called Enslavers to invade our universe. Wiping out what Old Ones survived the war, as they easily broke through their defenses and strongholds.
With most intelligent life gone, the Necrons turned on the C'tan. Breaking down their once-masters into shards of their former selves. And trapping them within prisons. Then, the Necrons disappeared. Many theorized they went into some sort of hibernation state, and may wake once again.
But upon seeing what intelligent life was left after the war being exterminated, Primus and Unicron once again returned to fight. Working with the Aeldari, they began to push the Enslavers back. The Aeldari with their psychic prowess, and Primus with a device he built that would repair the tear between universes.
Unicron himself fought the Enslavers in their own universe. Pushing into the Immaterium, fixing the tear from the other side, killing the Enslavers as he didn't have a mind they could control.
But Unicron was just one being, and the Enslavers began to push back. Unicron held the line at the tear, and yelled out to his brother.
"Primus! Close the tear!"
"Unicron, no! You could die!" Primus yelled back, not wanting to lose the only other being similar to him.
"Do it!" Unicron only yelled back, straining against the Enslavers.
Primus powered on the machine, and watched in horror as the tear closed. Stranding Unicron on the other side.
"No!"
Primus tried reversing the machine, trying to bring his brother back. It didn't work. He tried, again, and again, and again. But the rest never opened again. And out of frustration, Primus smashed the machine.
The Aeldari leader tried speaking with Primus. To congratulate him on his accomplishment. But Primus did not respond, instead he floated off into space, leaving the growing Aeldari empire behind.
Deep in space, far away from everything, Primus once again began to build. That's what he was after all, a builder. He tinkered, and experimented. What he was building, he did not know yet.
An unknown amount of time passed, and Primus had made another accomplishment. A way to travel through space without having to use the webway.
But as he had just finished with his invention, another began to alarm. He had built it to notify him in the event that the barriers between the Immaterium and his universe were breached again, in the hope that it was his brother returning.
Primus locked in on the location of the Immaterium tear, and brought forward his new invention. He called it the space bridge, and thought that this was the most opportune moment to test it.
He powered on the device and a portal opened, big enough for Primus to fit through. He felt elated, his invention was a success! Passing through the portal, he witnessed something terrible.
The ruins of the Aeldari empire lay around him, broken ships, moons, and even planets. Leaving empty corpses littered throughout space. Something had torn through them leaving a trail of destruction behind, which Primus followed.
Then he saw it. It was… horrible. A large creature, it's skin purple with a white head of hair, and a mass of horns that looked like a crown. Even at a glance, Primus could tell it was from the Immaterium.
Rage flowed through Primus. How dare these creatures invade his universe again? What about his brother? Where was he? What had these creatures done to him?!
Enraged, Primus flew towards the creature. It was too concerned with feasting on the Aeldari to notice. He brought back his fist, and threw it forward in a mighty punch.
A surge of power coiled within Primus as he readied his strike, the very essence of his attack rumored to possess the capacity to annihilate worlds. With Primus' energy concentrated, he unleashed his blow upon the unsuspecting creature. The impact was cataclysmic, the force a manifestation of devastation that caught the creature off guard, its senses overwhelmed by the sheer ferocity of Primus's assault. In the aftermath, one of the creature's mighty horns shattered, severed from its form, and drifted aimlessly into the vast expanse of space.
The creature's hiss echoed through the air as it lunged at Primus, its claws slashing and teeth gnashing. But Primus stood firm, his determination unshaken. With swift and calculated movements, he dodged the creature's strikes, his muscles tensed and ready. With a fierce roar, he seized the creature's horns, twisting its head back, and then with an incredible force, he slammed its snarling face into a shattered world fragment. The impact reverberated, sending shockwaves through the ground as Primus relentlessly battered the creature into the unforgiving soil.
It screeched, and broke free of Primus' grip, retreating into a tear in space it opened. It's body slithering into the hole made before closing it behind itself.
Primus stared at the location where the creature had left, watching in case it decided to return. But ultimately, it did not. He felt one of the Aeldari gods approach him, it may have been the only one left.
"My thanks to you Primus, you have saved my people. Or what's left of them, ha." The god said, and Primus only gave him a passing glance as he flew off into space once more. He felt saddened, as the hope of his brother returning had quickly turned to despair as he feared the worst.
It was later theorized that Primus himself had saved the Aeldari race from extinction. Because of this, Primus is revered as a savior by the Aeldari.
Opening another Space Bridge, he returned to the place he had just left. And began to build once more, taking his thoughts off of his brother.
He felt lonely without Unicron, and set out to fix that.
And with that, Primus created the thirteen primes. The first of the Cybertronians. Using his own life force as inspiration, he began copying it on a much smaller scale.
The first was Prima, Primus deemed this one the leader of the thirteen. He gave this one a sword, one of light.
The second was Vector Prime. Primus made this one using the remnants of the spear of Og'driada. Giving him the ability to manipulate time through the usage of his blades.
The third was Alpha Trion. A recorder, as he had a natural fascination with artifacts. Primus gave him the Quill, made from the spear of Og'driada, which Alpha Trion could use to record the past, present, and future.
The fourth was Solus Prime. The first unique one to identify herself as female. She was given a forge, as she took after her father with her love of creation and she made weapons for her siblings.
The fifth was Micronous Prime. The first of a new line Primus would deem the mini-crons. He could bond with one of his siblings, and enhance their abilities through the usage of the Chimera stone. Which was given to him by Primus.
The sixth was Alchemist Prime. An avid student of the natural worlds, aided by the lenses given to him by Primus. As this let him see deeper in both a physical and spiritual level.
The seventh was Nexus Prime. He was the first combiner, able to divide himself into separate parts, and put himself back together. He was able to do this by using the Enigma of Combination, given to him as a gift by Primus. Unpredictable, fascinated by change, and a lighthearted prankster.
The eighth was Onyx Prime. The first beast-form Cybertronian, he was a primitive and spiritual being compared to his siblings. He was able to view different times, places, souls, and even the afterlife through his gift, the three faced Triptych mask.
The ninth was Amalgamous Prime, the joker of the thirteen and the first Shifter. He was the first given the ability to transform similar to Primus, by using his gift the Transformation Cog. Which would become a staple of Cybertronian life.
The tenth was Quintus Prime. A daydreamer and perfectionist whose drive to express his ideas led him to becoming a scientist. His gift was the Emberstone, a device from the Old Ones, which gave him the ability to create life.
The eleventh was Liege Maximo. Referred to as the "Prime of Lies", a black-hearted and amoral manipulator. His gift was the Liegan Darts, which later became toxic. But his real skill lay in the ability to talk those into his way of thinking.
The twelfth was The Fallen. Once referred to as Megatronous, he was the guardian of entropy and wielder of the Entropy blaster, his gift from Primus. The Fallen's name has been struck from history, when the dark warrior attacked his siblings. As his name brings shame to the word Prome.
The thirteenth prime was the most mysterious one, very little is known about him. But rumors have stated that his gift from Primus was that ability to reincarnate.
The thirteen were the first from Primus. Created both as his children, and as templates for future creations. He loved each of them dearly, as he considered them as part of his greatest creation.
But once he finished creating the thirteen, an old device began warning him again. Another tear in the universe, opening up a portal to the Immaterium. But this one was much closer.
Primus immediately sprung into action, the thirteen following after. He zeroed in on the tear, and opened up a space bridge. Entering, he was followed closely by his children.
Primus arrived at the location, and stared directly at the tear in space. Two hands pushed it further apart, opening the tear even more. Unicron pulled himself out of the Immaterium, Primus was elated at first and rushed to embrace his brother but faltered when Unicron looked at Primus.
This Unicron was not the same Unicron Primus knew. His metal exterior was torn, shredded and flat out missing in certain areas. His brilliant purple color had been charred black, his yellow horns having lost almost all of their luster. His right hand was missing, instead his damaged arm was sharpened into a blade. His face plate's mouth region had been sharpened, almost as if Unicron now possessed individual teeth. Primus stared into his brother's eyes, they were once blue like his, but had now turned into a violent orange.
"Brother?" Primus whispered. Unicron twitched, and roared. Lunging at Primus.
"Unicron stop! It's me!" Primus shouted, but Unicron snarled. Saying nonsense that meant nothing.
Unicron bit into Primus' neck, causing Primus to yell out in pain as a chunk of metal was torn from his body. Primus shoved Unicron off of him, and pressed a hand against his wound.
Unicron spun around, and lunged at Primus again. This time, he stabbed his brother in the stomach region and tried biting Primus again.
The thirteen Primes intervened however, attacking Unicron directly. Defending their father, and damaging Unicron even further. Their small size made it difficult for Unicron to hit them, but not impossible. He grabbed the thirteenth Prime in his hands, and crushed him.
"NO!" Primus yelled, and pulled the remaining twelve off of Unicron. He used the Space Bridge device and opened up a portal behind Unicron.
It sucked the mad Unicron into it. Primus extended its destination farther and farther, until the power source required to send Unicron that far began sapping into Primus life force. But he kept going.
Once Primus was on the verge of death, he opened the other side of the Space Bridge, dumping Unicron into the far reaches of space. Primus collapsed into himself, transforming back into the form given to him by the Old Ones so long before.
It is debated whether or not Primus went into hibernation because of the realization that his long lost brother had only been returned to him as a monster that had tried to kill him. Or the loss of life force that he used to power the space bridge. Either could be correct, but the result was Primus turning into the planet we know today.
As a final act, Primus gave the thirteenth Prime his gift. Resurrection. As it is destined that the thirteenth Prime would return when he is needed most. And for Prima, he was given the matrix of leadership.
And with that, Primus fell into hibernation. Subconsciously building Cybertron, and the people who live on it. Introducing a new life into the universe, Cybertronians.
Primus has never fully awoken since, and it is unknown if he ever will.
