Chapter III: King's mother and traitor's daughter
Cersei had to act soon and she knew it. If she couldn't achieve to turn things to her favor again before Joffrey's wedding, all her achievements of power and independence were lost to feign obedience to a new husband again. To confront her father so openly had been risky enough, but in her point of view, it was worth the price which was at stake.
You play the Game of Thrones or you'll die. Nothing else. It still stays the same.
However, bloodlines and legacy gnawed at her conscience, for Tywin was also her father. Old habits die hard, she thought as she considered her remorse.
Cersei had other problems to deal with, too. Sansa Stark had had the affront by thinking to choose a marriage arrangement all by herself. Since then she had learned of Cersei's colder behavior. But the traitor's daughter had even yet to pay for her assault and Cersei had no lack of ideas, only of opportunities.

Sansa couldn't help but to feel attracked by the charming and courtly manners of Loras Tyrell, House of the Florent. Since the secret plot of marrying Ser Willas, heir of Highgarden, was revealed, her frustration grew higher and her options lessened.
Few people greeted her at court now and she seldom spoke a word to someone who wasn't a Lannister. Her guards kept her away from the Tyrells and she wasn't able to meet Ser Dontos secretly in the garden.
Ser Loras was the only exception, for he could speak to her as a kingsguard in spite of being a Tyrell. But her guards were never to far and could overhear any secretly spoken word.
But Loras courtesies made up for that.
