An unofficial sequel to 'Odalia Blight, The Exiled' by Exotos135 on A03.
She did it.
It took some time, but she had finally made it work.
After being exiled from her home and forced into the Human Realm. Odalia Brightmare had come to settle in a small town called Evermore. Though with a small population, the town was comfortable. And the residents, for the most part, were hospitable to the oracles' surprise. Though her mind mainly focused on building herself up. And without money or a form of income that would be hard.
Being from a different realm made it hard to find employment. Along with her limited use of magic, she had to learn to use it sparingly while she moved around for shelter. But, if Odalia was anything, she was persistent.
Eventually, she managed to find herself an actual form of employment. Working in a kind of supermarket. Unlike the night market and other shops in the Demon Realm, the human market supplied items that were, for the most part, simple and without magic. Odalia, while finding the work below her, did what she needed. Starting with organizing the shelves and making sure the store was tidy. The ramblings of humans, especially the younger ones, had pushed her buttons. Odalia kept her head and continued with her duties. In a short time, she managed to move up, or a promotion, as it was called.
From simple stocking items on shelves to working at the cashier. Using her gift of customer service and silver tongue for sales to help push products. She was increasing the sales and customer numbers of the little market to surprising numbers. From there she was moved from cashier to assistant manager. From there she was able to become a manager. Is more work and responsibility, but also more money. Using her years working as a CEO and businesswoman to remake it better and more productive than before.
For weeks she had saved up all the money she had made. Prioritizing the necessities such as food and clothing as needed. When it came to shelter, she was able to find a house not too far from the city. A little shack that had been left in the forest. Though old and showing signs of age, it was better than nothing. Though it was rough at first, the oracle was able to fix up the old house. Using her saved funds to purchase supplies and finding books/videos to help patch up holes in the old house.
More time passed and Odalia had become better acquainted with the old town. Evermore was, by definition, a town on its last leg as it were. From what she learned from the residents and studying the town's history, the place hadn't changed much. With many residents moving away to bigger places such as cities. Leaving only those who basically grew up there and had no want to move away. And, from what she learned, the town lacked what was called a 'hook'. Something that would draw people in to visit and build the economy. Without that the infrastructure had stagnated and was now coming to a halt.
Luckily Odalia had an eye for seeing potential, as well as profit.
And Evermore had both.
So she got to work. After speaking with the leaders of the town, known as the mayor and his consultants. He found, much like the town, the leadership wasn't much when it came to change. Not that they didn't want to, but they didn't have the means to. With little money, aging residence, and little service besides the basics there wasn't much that could make them stand out.
Even Odalia could see the town was a bit 'dusty'. But, with a little polish, it could sparkle brighter than the most precious gem and be just as valuable.
As the weeks passed she studied and began planning. Mapping out the town, drawing up concepts, and looking at every resource available. Bringing each and everyone to the mayor as she compiled more and more support from the residents.
The weeks came and went.
Through her plans, she was able to secure some funding from different investors looking to build up the town. Some of which, by surprise, were her own family. Though they would never invest in anything involving inferior creatures, especially humans. The incentive of proving the Demon Realm wrong, especially her former family and colleagues, was enough to convenience them to aid in her endeavors to build up the town.
With the funding, the town was able to rebuild and renovate. The new construction brought in those seeking jobs, which they were given, provided they became residents of the town and promised to reside there. Which meant more houses to be built and fixed. With new residences, it meant more needed business spaces, which meant more shops could be expanded to provide better service. A few older residents sold their businesses, allowing newer blood to take over. Some of the newer faces were actually some old ones that Odalia had never expected to see again.
Two of them are the old coven heads, Adrian and Terra. Both had turned up at her home one day. After a few quips and barbs, she found out that like her they had been exiled from the Demon Realm. Mostly from not conforming to the new ways of the Demon Realm. Though they both would state they left on their own, Odalia didn't much press. But, did offer them residence in Evermore.
Though they had their own methods and ways of thinking, Odalia knew they both were powerful witches in their own rights. It didn't take much convincing them to stay and even less time finding them positions within the growing community.
With her knowledge of plants and potions, Terra opened a plant nursery and even offered herbal medicines and teas.
Adrian ran a styling boutique. Specializing in make-up, hair, and even photography.
As time passed the town grew. Not just in residence, but in revenue as well. Going from a small nowhere town on its last leg. To one of the must-visit destinations. Even bringing members from the once-proclaimed 'Titan Trappers'. The group fractured once the changes came to the Demon Realm and they couldn't hunt Titans any longer. Along with the fact they were once worshipped 'Collector', turned out to be nothing more than a child. After that members had broken off and ended up in the Demon Realm. Finding there a way to Evermore, and thankfully or not, ending up at Odalia's backyard.
By some miracle she managed to convince the one called Bill, to make the town their new residence. Offering them a place and purpose than what they once had. And though stubborn at first, she and the group managed to come to an agreement. And so the group became the new security of the town after learning to tone down their hunting type of behavior for something tamer.
And as the weeks turned to months and months turned to years, the town finally reached its true change.
On what was the fifth anniversary of Evermore's transformation, Odalia Brightmare was elected the mayor of the town.
Offered the position for turning the town into a tourist attraction and breathing fresh air into a once dying town. A titan long since forgotten with the town's once dwindling life.
After that, she continued to work with the city to make it not only a profitable but comfortable place to live. But, offer a haven for those who had been exiled from the Demon Realm.
And, as she looked out from her office, she saw the city with clear skies, flourishing businesses, bustling residences, and rolls of green hills and forest around it. In the newly transformed town square, she could see one of the surprisingly productive residents, Jacob, giving a tour to a group of visitors. Exiled from his own town the man seemed to find his calling giving lively, if rather exaggerated, retellings of various tales and stories surrounding the town. Such as the tale of the witch hunter and his brother that Odalia had 'acquired' from a town looking to erase the history from its own. Which, after gaining the rights, turned into an absolute gold mine after selling books and other merchandise regaling the story of the two brothers. One of which was a stage play that was written by Adrian himself and performed during reenactments. She even managed to get the statues and bring them to be housed in the town's small museum. Also, run by Jacobs when not giving tours or Kikimora who had taken to having people hanging off her words and following her lead.
With a cup of apple tea, she sat back in the chair. Seeing what she had built with not only her hands but her talents as well. On her desk were designs and plans for a new hotel being built. Needing her official signature to allow the two owners to build what would be another business to add to the booming economy.
Odalia Brightmare was told to never return to the Demon Realm.
And she didn't and might never go back again.
Why would she?
When it was so much greener on the other side.
The End...For Now
Honestly, in the long run, Odalia had proven to be quite the survivor. She isn't the worst character I've seen, far from it. But, given the right context and having some of her 'flaws' toned down she would be a force to be reckoned with. She's smart, and charming, and shows she will do anything to reach her goals. Questionable as they are.
Also exiling someone seems over the top. And if Odalia could be exiled, that's not saying others can't be. Especially those that are deemed 'bad' in the show.
The story is a mix of cannon, the original story this is based off, and some of my own HC.
Until Next Time.
