"Well, I see you figured it out," David Rossi told his daughter over the vid phone, his dark eyes twinkling mischievously.
"You expected us to and you know it," Harper said rolling her eyes at her father in exasperation. "You expected us to know you well enough to know that you had hired a lawyer firm to look after the place, even though you've had someone living here ever since you, mom and the aunts left."
"Yes, I did," Dave agreed without an ounce of shame. "All my children should know me well enough to predict what I'm going to do in most situations."
Harper rolled her eyes again with a sigh, but said nothing letting her exasperation with her father's show.
Dave said nothing and simply waited.
"Alright, fine," Harper finally admitted, when her father said nothing. "We figured that you had hired somebody, though we didn't know who of course, until they showed up just an hour ago. The man from Stanton, Prescott and Brewer was very nice and we assured him that everything was more than satisfactory. We talked for awhile and shared several cups of coffee with a Mr. Paul Brewer. This place is very much ready for new occupants and we haven't had to do much at all really."
"I'm glad you're so pleased with the place," Dave finally said.
"This place is really magnificent dad," Harper said excitedly. "It has a lot of old world charm with a modern feel, so you've done a good job of updating this place. It looks as if the rooms have had a fresh coat of paint fairly recently, and there is a new refrigeration unit in the kitchen and a fully stocked pantry."
"I'm glad you're so pleased with it," Dave said smiling. "So has Brooke arrived yet?"
"No, but she and Jeremy are due to arrive in a couple of days. Personally, I think they just wanted to take a mini vacation, be by themselves for a few days before they joined us."
"They probably did," Dave agreed. "Tell them to let me know when they arrive."
"I will," Harper promised. "We've been enjoying the peace and quiet and we haven't left the place yet. By the way, thanks for having the autochefs installed."
"That was more your mother and aunts idea than mine," Dave admitted. "I know you like to be lazy and not have to cook sometimes."
"Aaron, Spencer and I had already figured out it was more the females idea than yours dad," Harper said smugly. "It's something that Jeremy will definitely appreciate when they arrive, as sometimes he just likes to go to the autochef for a snack if we are involved in a movie marathon or he just wants to munch on snack food instead of cooking. Besides, Aaron, Spencer and Jeremy don't cook, so they will come in useful when Brooke and I are having some girl time. Yes, I know they can order something, but they may just want to get something from the autochef instead."
"That's a good point," Dave admitted smiling a little. "Emily, JJ and Penelope certainly spend time with just each other occasionally, leaving me to my own devices for a few days."
"They need time for just themselves you know," Harper told her dad smiling.
This was a concept she had not understood at first and had told Aaron as much back when they had first met. Now she did, but she was also much older than she had been back then, had more experience in the world. She had been only 30 when she had met Aaron Hotchner for the first time as it had been the day after her birthday. She had actually seen him in the restaurant that her parents had taken her and Brooke to the night before, but they hadn't actually met until the next day.
Aaron had easily tracked down her family and they had welcomed him. They had mated that very day they had met and she had been extremely happy ever since. Back then, she had been young and fairly innocent as had her twin, so she hadn't understood why dad had allowed all his wives to disappear for a few days on a mini vacation with just themselves. It was just a concept that she had not understood until she was older, as she realized that while she loved Aaron to death there was some things she couldn't discuss with him, things that her mate wouldn't want to know about any female, much less his wife.
Every day life was also stressful, so taking a break every once in awhile was necessary, so that they weren't snapping at each other. Her parents had taken several of these break when she and Brooke had been growing up, but always left them in the care of their grandparents who spoiled them rotten. Their parents had always brought them nice things when they returned and they had called every few days to let them know that they hadn't been forgotten. When they returned things were calm again, and there was much less tension among the adults.
Harper now knew that was because all four of her parents had had a chance to relax and destress. It had been a time just for the adults with no children present. Not every parent could afford to take so much time away but hers definitely could. Sometimes, her mother and aunts, just disappeared to a spa for a few days and when they returned they were always more relaxed and happier. Harper and Brooke had even joined them a few times, and sometimes, so had some of her sisters. It had just been a relaxing time for all involved without the menfolk. The menfolk of course, did their own things and bonded
"Besides, I have no doubt that you and some of your sons or son-in-laws also bond, so you can't pretend that you don't take advantage of your wives absence," Harper told her father.
"That's true," Dave admitted easily. "When you're immortal these times with our own sexes are very much needed and I'm well aware of it. I don't have to worry about them cheating, just like they don't have to worry about me doing so."
Harper nodded, because it was true. She knew that Aaron, Spencer and Jeremy sometimes joined her dad for a few days, if she and Brooke were busy elsewhere with her mother and aunts.
"Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that we were visited by the lawyer firm you hired," Harper said. "Now if you don't mind the three of us have plans for the rest of the day and probably tomorrow as well."
"I know exactly what you'll be doing, so you don't have to draw me a diagram," Dave chuckled knowingly.
"I'm sure you do," Harper said smiling.
"Well, I can guess you don't want to do any sightseeing until Brooke and Jeremy arrive," Dave explained his reasoning. "It would be polite to at least ask them if they want to join you. They might not, but it is polite to ask if they want to come along. While there's plenty to do inside, I can guess what you'll mostly be doing since you've already explored the place."
"Well, there is the pool," Hopper mentioned. "It has been refilled and is ready for use, so maybe we'll try out that sometime in the next day or so. We also discovered the room that you made into a closet."
"Well, there were four of us," Dave shrugged if that explained everything and in truth it did.
All four of her parents had a ton of clothes, and while the closet in the master bedroom was massive it wasn't big enough for her dad, mom and aunts clothes collection. It would've been fine for just two people maybe even three, but not all four. Turning one of the rooms into a closet, one with racks that moved so that things were easy to find, might seem like a massive waste of space, but when you had as many clothes as her family did, well, it made sense to use the room next to the master bedroom in such a way. She was sure that with five people living here that giant closet next to the master bedroom would come in very useful, though Harper still wasn't sure if they would need it or not.
"I'll call again after Brooke and Jeremy arrive," Harper promised finally. "I love you and tell mom and my aunts the same."
"I will," Dave promised before he said goodbye and finally ended the call.
Harper immediately headed upstairs and headed for the master bedroom, where she knew her two mates were waiting.

Several days later
"Ready to go?" Brooke asked her sister.
She and Jeremy had arrived just yesterday, and they'd had a chance to recover from the journey.
Now it was time to go bed shopping.
"Yes, ready," Harper agreed. "The guys will be clean up the kitchen from breakfast, since both of us cooked."
"Yes, we will," Aaron agreed.
"We should be done by lunch," Brooke said. "It's only a couple of beds after all, so it shouldn't take us that long."
"So you're only going to replace the one in the master bedroom and the bedroom you chose," Jeremy said and both women nodded.
"We don't see the point of replacing the other beds at least until we have children. We can then donate the beds to the Salvation Army or Goodwill," Harper said. "There still in good condition and I'm sure some poor family could use them."
"That's a good idea," Spencer agreed. "You go ahead and we'll see you for lunch."
"Actually, we'll probably have lunch out," Brooke said.
"We'll be back after that go, so you guys won't get too lonely."
"So what about 2 o'clock?" Jeremy asked, after checking his watch.
"That sounds about right as it's only nine," Brooke said. "The only reason I'm up at this ungodly hour is I went to bed really early."
"9 o'clock is not an ungodly hour Brooke," Harper told her sister rolling her eyes. "Half the morning is already gone."
"It is to me," Brooke said simply.
Harper knew this was true so said nothing. She had never understood how her sister could sleep so late, but at least she knew, that she was like her mother's brother Darrin who was long dead. Harper was sure that there were other of her mother's children that liked to sleep as late as possible, so she might want to ask her and dad about that sometime but not today. Brooke simply couldn't be the only one of her mother's children that liked to sleep late, not with as many as she'd had.
"Let's get going," Harper suggested and Brooke nodded.
"We'll see you guys later," Brooke said smiling kissing her husband on the cheek.
"We'll be just be fine without you for a few hours," Spencer said smiling.
"I'm sure we'll find a way to keep ourselves occupied," Jeremy said.
"So shoo," Aaron added
"Yes sir," Harper said sarcastically saluting, before kissing Aaron and then Spencer on the cheek.
The two sisters disappeared towards the front door and were out of sight in seconds.
"So we're left to ourselves for a few hours what do you want to do?" Jeremy asked.
"There's always the pool," Aaron suggested. "It's been refilled and is ready for use."
"There's also plenty of board games including some of the more recent ones. I'm not sure who bought those, but it was probably Harper's and Brooke's half brother Richard, as I can't see it as something Dave or his wives would have thought of, though it is possible," Spencer suggested.
"It probably was Richard," Aaron said. "He and his mate had children at one point after all."
They discussed it for a few minutes and then made a decision on what to do while their wives were busy.
All of them headed for the pool after they had donned their swim trunks. They would enjoy themselves until their wives returned.

"Dad and the others sure did buy a nice place," Brooke said, once she and Harper were on their way towards the largest and best furniture store in New York.
"Well, you know dad," Harper said shrugging. "He's not about to live in squalor and neither is Aunt Emily for that matter. You know that both were born before there was a lot of nice places to stay and I'm sure most of the places they did stay were not that nice."
"There is that place in Japan they went too, long before they met and JJ or mom," Brooke said. "It's supposedly the oldest hotel in the world and was built in 705 A.D."
"That's true, but that was before they were born and only after the Japanese opened their borders," Harper said. "Still, hotels might have been around for a long, long time, but that doesn't mean they were very common when dad and Aunt Emily were young. They might have stayed in an inn or hotel occasionally, but remember a lot of times they didn't have any money, even if there was such a place close by."
"That's certainly not a problem anymore," Brooke chuckled.
"No, it's not, but it was a very long time ago remember?" Harper said.
"Yes, it was, even for an immortal," Brooke agreed.
The two sisters finally arrived at the largest furniture store in the city.
They were immediately approached by one of the employees, a handsome man that looked a few years older than them.
"Can I help you ladies? I'm Ned and I'll be happy to be of assistance," Ned said.
"We need two emperor sized beds," Harper said. "The biggest ones you have."
"Ah! We have quite a few in stock, so you'll just have to pick the style you want," Ned said. "This way."
Ned led the way to their selection of emperor sized beds.
"So what do you think sis?" Brooke asked, as she looked at one of the beds that was absolutely huge.
"Well, it certainly big enough for Aaron, Spencer and I and the style is okay, but I want to see the rest of them before make any definite decisions. We might as well take our time as the boys aren't expecting us home for awhile," Harper said. "I like the design, but I prefer a lighter wood."
"We have this in a nice oak if you prefer something lighter," Ned suggested.
"That sounds better and more my style," Harper said. "Our husbands don't really care what they sleep on, so they left it to us to decide on new beds."
Ned showed them the other emperor sized beds that they had in stock a Brooke decided on something in a medium colored wood.
"I think it will go well with the color of the bedroom," Brooke said. "I suppose we could repaint if we had to, but dad already took care of that."
The whole place had been painted where appropriate sometime in the last year, as the paint wasn't faded and the wallpaper wasn't peeling or at least dingy. David Rossi had really gone all out to keep the place looking nice, but that wasn't at all unusual for their father, as he was good with the details. The fact the place had great sentimental value would be only one of numerous reasons why their dad would want to keep it in good condition.
Finally, the two made their choices and Harper of course, chose something in a light wood.
"They will be delivered by the end of the week," Ned promised knowing he was going to get a nice commission. He could use it to.
"Would you be willing to deliver the old beds to the salvation army or some other charity, as is no point of throwing them out," Brooke said.
"I'm sure some poor family would appreciate it," Harper added. "There are plenty of people that are far less fortunate then we are."
This was true Ned knew.
"We will of course, pay extra if the store is willing to do this for us," Brooke said.
"I'll have to check with the manager before I can agree, but I'm sure that he would be willing to do this for you. It's certainly a good idea," Ned said.
"Tell the manager that we'll be happy to recommend all our friends and associates to his store whenever they need new furniture and between us we know a lot of people. I might be a Hotchner now, but I used to be a Rossi and my so many times great-grandfather was extremely wealthy. A wealth that our family has managed to hold on to, despite bad economic times," Harper told Ned.
"Our grandfather always believed in charity at least according to dad," Brooke added. "I think it was because he came from a poor family, but managed to make a fortune, so he always donated to charity once he had the money to do so."
What Harper and Brooke told Ned was basically the truth, as dad did donate to charity and so did their grandfather who was still alive and healthy. Grandpa always said that charity begin in the home and it was something dad also believed and so he donated to certain charities as well. Charities were almost always underfunded and some disappeared due to no funding at all.
Ned thought this was a good attitude for someone who had been wealthy before they passed away. Of course, maybe the fact he had been poor first had something to do with it. It probably had made the Rossis so many time great-grandfather appreciate what he had more once he had made his fortune and so he donated to charity maybe as a thank you for his good luck. It was apparent that he had passed those values onto his children, then those children had passed the same values onto their kids and so on down the generations until it came to the current ones.
One thing the two sisters hadn't told Ned, was the fact that when dad and Aunt Emily had been born money hadn't been very common, as it had been mostly trade or barter.
It was around lunch time before everything was arranged. The store manager had been more than willing to cooperate with the twins, as the store could always use more business. Brooke and Harper had named the charity they had donated to at one time or another over the centuries.
"Thank you for doing this for us, we really appreciate your assistance. The beds are still in good shape but we just decided we wanted something new."
"So where shall we deliver your furniture?" asked the manager.
Harper gave him the address and the manager nodded, knowing it was a very influential part of New York, which just made their story more believable. Of course, you also didn't buy two of the stores most expensive emperor sized beds if you didn't have money, but still you could have money and not be who you said you were. The fact that they were also dressed in expensive, but casual clothes did not escape the manager's notice either.
"If you call us and tell us when you'll be delivering them at least one of us will stay home," Brooke said.
"It'll probably be Friday around noon to five," the manager said.
"Alright, we'll just have to change our hair appointment unless the boys want to accept delivery," Harper said.
"They won't mind," Brooke said.
"No, they won't, but I still prefer to be there," Harper shrugged.
Brooke nodded knowing her sister just wanted to make sure it was done right the first time.
They both bid the manager goodbye with the promise that they would mention in this place to all their friends and associates.
"So where do you want to go for lunch?" Brooke asked her sister.
"I don't really know, so why don't we just drive around and look for a likely place. Neither one of us knows New York, at least not yet, though I'm sure we will by the time we finally move somewhere else," Harper said.
Brooke who was behind the wheel of her brand new car that had been bought just yesterday nodded.
"Spencer has all the main routes memorized. How to get from point A to point B in the shortest amount of time, but I'm sure there are a lot of good restaurants off the beaten track."
"We have found some really good ones that weren't exactly on the main routes over the centuries," Brooke agreed.
The two sisters simply drove around until they found a likely place to eat. The good thing about being immortal was they couldn't get food poisoning if they chose somewhere bad to eat and that had happened to time or two over the years.
