As Bella looked out the airplane window as the plane left the runway to take her to Forks to live with her father, she thought about a few of the major changes not involving her mother over the last six years. The first surprise visit Damon sprung on them happened only a few months after they left Mystic Falls. Damon hadn't said anything to Zack but that was because he was the only one in their family that knew about their family blessing. You see, as the oldest child he was informed in case he showed any signs of the gift, though Damon never told his father if he had any. His father also choose not to inform either Damon's half-brother or Stefan of the family gifts and after his father killed them and turned them Damon didn't inform any of the other generations unless they showed signs of gifts themselves. To say Damon was even more shocked when he spotted his niece practicing magic by making flowers bloom around her was an understatement. Damon was also the one to encourage the book obsession so much so that it was called her horde now. He started this by pointing out that her mother was friends with a witch and that witches would have grimoire with spells and other things that would be useful. This of course caused Bella to spiral into a research spree then within a week Bella had a way to make a replica of the grimoire in question and if it was added to the additions would appear in both the original and the copy. Which meant Bella could take the originals and still have anything that was added later.
Another change came in the fact that her baby cousin Jeremy confirmed that he took after his mother's side of the family and had started to come into his gifts. Bella was not informed exactly what they were, but she knew this to be the case because only Jeremy was being taught the ancient Greek and the modern Greek language like Bella herself. Bella would spend most of the visit with Jeremy so she picked up a little on how to sketch preferring to write and read, but when both Bella and Jeremy got fed up with Elena, they would start talking to each other in Greek which annoyed her into leaving them alone if that didn't work then the pranks did. Jeremy was also the only other person other than Damon to know about her powers and was responsible for helping her copy all of the founding families' journals. Damon hadn't had to go back to Mystic Falls and He seemed to spend months with Bella watching her progress in her magic before he was off again claiming to be looking for answers about something.
When Bella decided to move to Forks with her father Damon disappeared again for a few weeks and when he came back, he looked very smug about something. Bella hadn't put it together until just last week she received a phone call from her father explaining that their house had been renovated and that they would no longer have to share a bathroom also that he had help with fixing up her room and that he had another surprise waiting for her for her return home. Bella had just stared at her Uncle Damon for a while as he smirked at her before continuing the conversation with her father. Bella also knew some of Charlie's excitement stimmed from being able to celebrate Bella's eighteenth birthday with her living with him and not over the phone like usual. Her eighteenth birthday was also going to bring big changes in for Bella as well since it would be the mark of her true immortality manifesting, and she would have full access to her fae heritage like complete shape shifting and not just eye or hair color like before. Bella had also been warned that the local legends were in fact real so she could be prepared if she ran into any of them, Damon going as fair as to make sure she had a book of the local legends waiting for her arrival in her room.
Thinking about her arrival had Bella noticing that they were landing and withing twenty minutes Bella was walking towards baggage claim very glad that she had chosen to travel in dark green high waisted joggers and a matching cropped hoodie with flowers patched onto the sleeves. Finding Charlie was easy as was the small talk they had on the drive back to the house in Charlie's cruiser. Charlie grabbed her suitcases for her as he told her to go and check out her room. As Bella went up the stairs, she could see that the upstairs bathroom had been redone too. Opening her bedroom door Bella could only giggle because it explained why it took Damon so long to get back. Bella could no longer tell you what color her walls were since all four were now floor to ceiling shelves in their natural dark wood tone, with all but the one section that was next to her built in desk being empty. Even her bed which was sporting a new dark green comforter with gladiolus flowers stitched on it, was now built into the book shelves she could tell that the wall with her window held the grimoire she had collected over the years and that the wall with her desk held all of her nonfiction books and the wall holding her bed held all of the fiction books most of which she's used as inspiration for spells over the years. Resting on her bed were two objects one was a book about the local legends from the cover, the other object as a medium sized wooden chest with a sun carved into it light wood on the top and Bella could just make out the gladiolus and cistus flowers carved and painted in their different colors on the sides. She also noticed her closet had been expanded as Charlie placed her bags down in front of it giving him a hug just as turned around, he hugged her back while speaking.
"So my friend Billy and his youngest are stopping by here soon because they have your last surprise from me, in the meantime while your unpacking, the chest on the bed is something from your grandmother left for you, the note said you were supposed to have it for your sixteenth birthday but it was buried in the attic until the I started cleaning it out due to the renovations that were going on. I have no idea what she left you. I thought Miranda had everything of moms so it could be anything I'll leave you to it and call you when the others get here."
With his peace said Charlie released her from the hug and headed down the stairs, Bella glanced at the chest and decided to put away her things first since she had no idea what was inside the chest. Once all her things were put away and her bags stored under her bed, Bella sat down at the head of the bed with the chest resting in front of her. Running her fingers across the sun on the lid, Bella took a deep breath before lifting the lid on the chest Picking up the letter that was addressed to her before looking any further. Bella unfolded the letter and read the explanation from her grandmother Sommers. In the letter she explained that the contents of the chest would go to the head of the Apollo's Blessed bloodline, and since Charlie showed no interest in their bloodline the inheritance was hers by birthright. She also explained that Bella's aunts agreed with their mother on the birthright belonging to Bella, even if they didn't know who Charlie's father was. The letter was finished off by saying that Jeremy had his own inheritance waiting for him in a similar chest, only Jeremy's would have only his mothers and aunt's personal journals and journals that pertaining to his gift, he would also have his own special piece of jewelry gifted from Apollo himself just like every member that they would take to the grave with them. Folding the letter back up Bella gave it a kiss before placing off to the side so she could pull out the journals and the jewelry box. There were only five journals in her chest which let her know that over the last two thousand years only five family heads had the ability of sight in some form. The covers of each leather-bound book were different symbols each head of the bloodline at the time associated with Apollo, a sun, lyre, python, bow and arrow, and a swan. Bella knew the last one was her grandmother who saw the past of the people she was closest to. Leaving the journals alone for now Bella pulled out the jewelry box and opened the lid, resting on the inside was a gold cuff bracelet that had a sun stone interlaid in the middle with an engraving of the sun around it and two swans engraved on either side of the sun. Hearing Charlie calling to come downstairs Bella slipped on the bracelet before going to see what the final surprise of the day was.
As she came out the front door Bella saw Charlie standing by a man sitting in a wheelchair and younger teen with hair past his shoulders who was standing by a restored 1960 chevy truck in dark forest green. As she got closer Bella managed to catch the keys the teen tossed at her as Charlie spoke up.
"When Damon mentioned that you would need a way of getting around that didn't involve riding everywhere in a cop car with your old man, he also pointed at a good restoration place and what your favorite color was when I mentioned buying the truck off Billy here."
Bella grinned before giving her father a reply, "Thanks and of course he did Damon had his own car restored ages ago and it's his baby."
As Bella opened the door of the truck to check out the interior she ignored the comment about being down with the kids and Charlie having nothing to worry about from Billy that started a play fight between the two which promoted the boy to mutter about them getting worse with old age before he turned his attention to Bella and told her that if she needed any help maintenance wise with the truck she could bring it to him since he had been the one originally working on it before it had been bought from his father. Bella spent the rest of the time they were there humoring the boy even though she after they left, she could not tell you anything he said or even what his name was. She spent most of the visit wishing she had brought the book down so she could have a way to play off the vision that had been wanting to come through since she had sat down in the driver's seat of the truck.
After she told Charlie good night and was secure in her room with her door closed Bella allowed the vision to come through Bella took in her surroundings she was in most likely the school parking lot and sitting on the tailgate of her truck with a book in her lap but the odd part to her who had never managed to befriend anyone who wasn't related to her in some way, since the humans always seemed to think she was crazy or weird, was the fact that sitting next to her on the tailgate was a pale girl with gold eyes and brown hair in a stylish bob swinging her legs with a sketch book in her lap and a taller yet equally pale blonde male with gold eyes who was leaning on the side of the truck in a protective stance as he stared someone she couldn't see down while talking to her. As Bella came out of the vision, she smiled a small smile before getting ready for bed and grabbing the legend's book. Since it was the Saturday before school started Bella had all the next day to read the legends and start on one of the journals before she got her stuff ready for school.
Monday morning Bella felt that she was ready to start her senior year and made sure to get up nice and early so she could get to her schedule and find her locker before too many of the other students arrived. Dressed in a pair of dark blue high waisted skinny jeans, a flowy floral printed tank top and her dark brown leather jacket that was a gift from Damon with a pair of warn combat boots that looked almost grey from her wearing them so much. Bella made sure her new bracelet was also on her wrist, and her hair pulled into a loose fishtail braid over her right shoulder. before grabbing her Dark green messenger bag and her purse before heading to the door with a goodbye kiss on the check to Charlie.
Bella pulled into the parking lot and was relieved to see she was just early enough that not to many students had arrived yet she parked closer to the building before heading towards the main office. Once she had her schedule and visited her locker Bella moved around the boy that tried to corner her by her locker chattering about a newspaper article. Bella handed her slip to the teacher for her first class of the day being history and being told to sit next to the blonde male from her visions. Being close to him Bella could now sense the death magic that surrounded the male who stiffened when he inhaled as she sat down next to him. Keeping calm Bella acted like she didn't notice instead she allowed her magic out and dampened her scent as she pulled her notebook out of her bag. When she had her stuff situated for the lesson to begin Bella could see out of the corner of her eye that he was now curious about her but had relaxed more in his seat. Bella paid attention to class as they were told what they would be doing and what was on the syllabus and that the person they were sitting next to would be their partners for any projects or group assignments that semester so they could take the rest of the class to get to know them. Bella Reached down and pulled out one of her family journals she brought with her to read it had the sun on it and like all five journals was written in ancient Greek so no one would be able to read over her shoulder if they tried, before turning to her desk partner and reaching out her hand to shake and introducing herself with a small smile. She received a small one in return as he Introduced himself as Jasper Hale, as she opened the journal to the page, she left off at the other day she was interrupted by Jasper asking what the book was. Tilting her head at him Bella noticed his eyes held genuine interest before she answered that it was one of her families personal history journals and since history was one of her favorite subjects she liked to read about her family's history first hand along with the history books.
This led to what the language the journals were in and before they knew it the bell rang for the end of class, Jasper asked what her next class was and offered to walk her to it stating that he was in that class too before continuing the conversation. The next class went much the same as she was told to sit by Jasper yet again since it was where the only empty seat was the pattern repeated after that class only with him stating that she had the third class with his sister. He dropped her off at that class before heading towards his own as she walked into her art class for the day Bella was told by the teacher this time that she was sitting by an Alice Cullen. Looking to where she was directed Bella once again met the golden eyes of the girl from her vision only this girl was already beaming at her. Taking a seat on the stool next to her at the table had just enough time to pull out her own sketch book for the class before she was tapped on the shoulder and the girl was introducing herself. Bella gave a small smile and as the girl pulled her into conversation about where she was from Bella was strongly reminded of one of her cousin's blonde friends from Mystic Falls. Getting through the class Bella was only mildly shocked as she was informed that she would be sitting with Alice and her two brothers for lunch and her hand was grabbed as she was pulled lightly along to their destination and through the lunch line.
Bella could only smile when she realized one of the brothers was in fact Jasper who was already sitting down with a Copper haired male who the rest of the female population seemed to try to gain the attention of. As Bella was sat between Alice and Jasper, she noticed the other male stiffen like Jasper had but before Bella could dampen her scent again like she had originally for Jasper who seemed to have gotten use to her scent over time the male stood up abruptly and left the cafeteria. Paying him no mind Bella pulled Jasper back into the conversation they were having before art class this time including Alice who seemed to find humor in talking about the ancient Greek prophets like Bella did. Bella did briefly ask about the different last names before being informed that they were adopted by the Cullen's family, but Bella quickly changed the subject when she noticed their discomfort on the subject. Alice and Jasper, it turns out, were in fact both in her last two classes of the day and Jasper seemed to apricate her truck as they walked her too it.
The next two weeks were spent in their company and Bella could not believe that she was making friends, though she did notice that they had picked up on when she would zone out from time to time, if a vision happened. Though they never asked about the zone outs instead acting as if it was a natural thing, since Alice did it from time to time as well, Bella kind of figured they were used to it. Bella had in fact not noticed that for the first week of the two weeks that the copper haired male was gone, and he did not seem pleased that she didn't even seem to notice his return or the fact that she ignored his presence in favor of his two siblings even when he tried to introduce himself. Bella's dreams for those two weeks were once again on the harder to remember side of things knowing only with her inheritance would she be able to remember fully what she dreamed about, Bella could only vaguely make out tire squealing and her name being shouted along with one other. Sure enough on the Friday on the copper headed boys return week as everyone was headed home for the weekend and Bella was walking to her truck Tire squeals were heard and as Bella looked up she could see a van skidding her way before the van could hit her into truck Bella blinked and she was sitting on the ground with the copper head boy over her and a dent in the van were his arm blocked it from hitting her. Bella was only looking into his eyes before a vision took over and she saw the boy cutting the messing with the break lines and chains on the tires of the van in question. before she was brought back to the present as she was helped into the ambulance. Bella didn't really acknowledge the hospital visit and Charlie worrying over her as she tried to figure out why the boy would go through all that trouble and reveal his families secrete, that he was getting yelled at for by a blonde female as they walked out of the hospital room. Before Bella went to bed Bella decided she wasn't even going to keep doing what she was doing and not pay him any attention though she did notice that after that incident Jasper had become very protective over her and Alice going as far as to make, sure their car which was separate from Edwards, was parked next to her truck so they could talk with each other before and after school for a while.
Bella's eighteenth birthday came and went with her spending the day with Charlie watching the Harry Potter movies until Charlie left for work. Then Bella headed to the ring in the back yard and with her father none the wiser went through her inheritance in the fae realm where her magic leaking out of her in waves as her gifts forcefully fully manifested and her magic rolled off her in waves which would have let witches know nearby about her magic if she was not there. Bella also received her actual fae name that only her true mate and close family would know and one of her names for the world to know her as, like the world knew her grandfather as Apollo or Mordred. They gave her the name Persephone, since it hadn't yet been taken by a fae and because of her penchant for causing flowers to bloom when she was bored and outside, no matter the season. Her grandfather found it funny since he was the one to start it when he first discovered the habit when she was younger. The first Monday back to school after her birthday was the enactment of the first vision she had in her truck and as she talked to Jasper Alice looked up from her sketch and asked if she wanted to go to Seattle and go shopping with her. Before Bella could answer both girls zoned out and both saw them sitting in the car as Jasper drove and the only line from the conversation, they could make out were the words it makes so much sense now. When they both zoned back on Bella said yes for the trip and then spent the rest of the week trying figure out how to tell her two friends what she really was.
As soon as they were past the Forks sign and headed towards Seattle Jasper was the first to start talking as soon as he said his real last name Bella tried hard to contain herself and she did in fact notice that Jasper was in fact reacting to her excitement. She let him get out his story and even managed to make it through Alice's story and the explanation of their strained relationship with the family for only ten years because Alice kept seeing herself being used by Edward for her visions to get his way more and the others kept trying to say that Alice and Jasper were mates when they knew they weren't. Before meeting Jasper's eyes in the mirror and asking him if he would like the number of an old friend of his, seeing the confusion Bella explained that her mother was a Salvatore and that a certain Damon who wrote about a Major Whitlock in the journals he allowed Bella to read was in fact alive and a traditional vampire, whom Bella had the phone number of. As the went shopping Bella started on herself explaining first what her species was and her immortally as of her birthday but that others would just be told that she was a witch for her safety. In the car ride back, Bella explained her gifts in which promoted the comment from Alice about it making sense now because Bella seemed to just know not to go to certain hallways without Alice having to intervene or knowing how to avoid their brother entirely in some cases like the field trip she was "sick" for.
A month and a half later the coven leader, because to the three friends that's what they were now, forced the issue of Bella visiting the house and according to Bella visions it was because Eddie the golden child had the leader convinced Bella was his mate and that Jasper and Alice were keeping her from him. To say Bella stuck to Jasper and Alice like glue the whole time no matter what the leader said though the only good thing out of it was that the blonde female who was yelling at him before seemed to be on Bella's side now as did her bear of a mate, when they spotted Bella ignoring the golden child and the leader the whole time. The weeks following the dinner party Bella kept seeing the nomads who were killing in the area in her visions and when she spoke to her grandfather about it, he told her that she had permission to use his true name to summon him to her should she encounter the nomads since some of her visions showed her being attacked from behind and drained. Shortly after the coven leader pushed the issue of Bella spending time with them again this time while they played baseball in the thunderstorm.
Jasper and Alice brought her to the field where the rest were already waiting to play. They had made it through the first three pitches before both Bella and Alice froze, though only Jasper noticed Bella reacting to the vision too. Eddie boy made sure he was standing close by the three friends. as they waited for the three nomads to come out of the trees, Bella noticed that all three seemed to still be wearing parts of their last kills. Bella was studying the three as they spoke to the leader Bella noticed almost immediately that the blonde was the real one in charge and when the wind changed, and she was called a snack by the blonde Bella didn't hesitate as the other crouched ready to attack and defend.
"Wotan," the whisper echoed for a moment and Bella could see the puzzled looks at her from the nomads.
That changed quickly as her grandfather magic could be felt, before he appeared between the groups, he zeroed in on the blonde male quickly. As Bella discreetly threw up a shield that would keep any of the cold ones from leaving until her grandfather gave the okay. Bella relaxed slightly though she didn't take her eyes off the intruders and feeling her relax some so did Jasper and Alice which seemed to puzzle the rest of the Cullen's.
"Hmmm, I'm going to make this brief, because I'm bored and you seem as if you will give me a brief glimmer of entertainment. You don't need to know who I am, on the off chance you survive what comes next maybe you could earn the chance to know, but I highly doubt you will. I have a challenge for you hunter against hunter, your companions can join in of course but that is up to you."
The blonde male looked at the other two who were both shaking their heads no and indicating that they wanted to leave but the blonde didn't want to listen to them and seemed to still think he would be getting to Bella after the challenge was over. The blonde looked back at her grandfather and nodded with a vicious grin showing blood still stained his teeth.
"The challenge is a simple one and starts as soon as my granddaughter releases the barrier holding the three of you in place. Simply survive the night against the wild hunt, you have until sunrise do this and you be granted a boon, don't and well this will be the last time we speak."
After he finished what he was saying he turned his head towards Bella, who waved her hand hands as if indicating a go on motion towards the blonde having dropped the barrier as her grandfather turned. Giving an identical grin to her grandfathers which caused all to truly see the resemblance. The male took off in one direction and the other two headed in another as her grandfather flashed away with no explanation to the others. Meeting jaspers eyes he scooped her up and dropped her off beside the jeep they used to get there before all three friends climbed in and drove to her house. On the drive their Bella's vision swam as a vision came on which seemed to indicate a few hours had passed to see the blonde male tackled from behind by a large dog with fire surrounding its paws as it began to rip and shred it prey. Her vision then changed to the red head female who was running along the cliffs headed south who crumbled to the ground and screamed in her rage from the broken mate bond. Bella came back to herself as they pulled into the drive letting the others know he would be dead soon they headed inside to finish the night out with a movie and ignoring all the phone calls from the rest of the coven.
The coven after that is a bit more wary of Bella, but they don't try and separate the three friends anymore. Bella was over at the coven house once again for a new year's party that Alice put together because the coven leader was once again trying to push that Bella was Edwards mate. While they were all together in the living room waiting for the countdown The coven leader's wife handed Bella an envelope and asked her to open it saying it was compensation for the nomad attack. When Bella nicked her finger opening it no one had time to react with Edwards attack as he was the fastest, though Bella did see Jasper try but being held back by the coven leader thinking he was attacking her and by then it was too late. Bella held up her arm to try and throw up a shield, but he was already on her and biting into her shoulder. His arms wrapped around her like a constrictor as he decided there was too many others around as he feed and took Bella body through the window and up a nearby tree. By the time the others stopped struggling with Jasper and Alice Edward had already drained her. Dropping her out of the tree he didn't even pause as he took off again. Jasper not waiting around for the rest of the coven to react to Edwards actions grabbed Bella's broken body off the ground and took off to her house. When he appeared in the back yard with Alice not far behind Her grandfather was already waiting, having felt her death, taking her body from the two he informed them that she would be back by the morning if they would be so kind to take care of her from their and treat her like she has pneumonia when Charlie shows up in the morning, he would be grateful. The friends nodded as they were also informed that if they choose, they could be changed into traditional vampires and keep their respective gifts for their treatment of his granddaughter.
Just like Mordred said Bella was almost as good as new by morning though she was sporting a new bite mark on her shoulder, her body was treating the venom like a virus which was why it was taking so long to heal plus it was her first "death". Jasper informed her that the rest of the coven had left within hours of her "death" and he and Alice were going to take her grandfather up on his offer which would entail them being in the fae realm until they got use to the changes. Once the week was up Bella went back to school and Jasper and Alice went to the fae realm, the rest of her school year was uneventful in comparison. The mutts on the reservation did try to bug her about Cullen's leaving but she ignored them. She also spent time on the phone with Damon planning her two-year trip before she would go to college. Bella was overwhelmingly excited as she got on her international flight with Damon heading to Greece.
