Summary:

Before King Magnifico became so beloved and powerful to the people of the Kingdom of Rosas, he was the talented apprentice to the Grand Sorcerer, the granter of wishes, a man chosen by the heavens to help make the lives of humanity better. This is the story of young Magnus and his desire to grant the one wish he can never grant; his own.

The Kingdom of Rosas is a great and thriving community. The people wanted for nothing, for they were given everything they could ever need. They were happy. It was all thanks to the grand master sorcerer who governed the land and its people.

Every day, a family would make a journey to the Wishing Tower. Once there they would request one wish to be granted by the sorcerer. The sorcerer would decide whether to grant or deny the wish, judging if it was for the good of the land and the people or if it was for purely selfish purposes.

Let it be decreed that the Sorcerer will allow one wish to each immediate family household per year.

-Decreed by Her Majesty Queen Faline

The warmth of the sun disappeared beneath the distant horizon and the comforting darkness fell over the Kingdom of Rosas, like a child tucked into bed and kissed goodnight by a doting parent. The world and its people were at peace. Stars twinkled high above in the night sky, ever watchful and waiting for the next wish to be called out.

A lone brilliant star, white as freshly fallen snow, streaked across the twinkling night sky.

The young sorcerer stepped onto the balcony, letting the cool night brush pass his skin and through his dark hair. He sighed heavily, tired from the day.

"Magnus, you did well today."

The young man turned and curbed his emotions as he looked upon the kind face of the elder gentleman, clothed in robes of wool lined with fur. Golden strands woven into the pattern. It was so elegant. A gift given to him from the first soul whose wish he granted so many years ago.

"Master, I am still an apprentice. You are the one whom the gods speak through to grant

"Soon it will be you, my boy. I will not be around forever. The gods see that. and will grant you the title when that time comes.

"But when?

"Just have patience my son. Now get some sleep. We are expecting guests all day tomorrow.

Magnus smiled. His master was so kind and warm. He was willing to grant the wish of anyone who came to him, no matter how great or tedious. Every wish mattered. Except one.

The Sorcerer was a liaison for the people of the land, to communicate with the immortal beings in the heavens. The sorcerer, a mortal human, was chosen by the heavens, gifted with the power to grant the wishes of the people. However, he could never ask for his own wish. The stars forbid all sorcerers from asking selfishly for themselves. Magnus was raised to be the next sorcerer. He could not act so irrational.

The young man, dark hair playing with the brisk cool breeze, turned and rested his hands on the stone railing of the high balcony. It will be here that one day he will greet the people as the Master Sorcerer, and be expected to grant the wishes of all who ask.

Deep blue eyes turned toward the sky in time to see a lone star streaking across vast space. Puzzled, he wondered what kind of wish was on that star, but soon his wonder turned to a twinge of fear as the star was shooting straight at him. Closer and closer it came, Magnus had never seen a star do this before, faster and faster. He wanted to dodge out of the way, but something inside kept his own legs from moving to safety. There was something otherworldly and beautiful about this star as it reflected itself within his eyes.

Just then, as if knowing he would not move, the star flew past the tower. Bits of starlight danced on the wind as it ruffled through his hair and robes.

"I wish…"

It was soft but he heard it. A beautiful melodic voice whispered through the wind as it rode on the star.

Magnus raced from the balcony and through the Grand Hall of the tower. He had to find that star. It needed help and he wanted to grant its wish, no matter how selfish or not. He could feel a strange pull at his heart as it urged him outside and into the lush and spacious garden behind the Wishing Tower.

He wandered urgently, his blue eyes darting every which way. The star came in this direction. He was sure of it.

His footsteps echoed against the smooth stone path. It sparkled like the starry sky. It was intricately detailed with various implanted gemstones, gold and silver.

The cool wind whistled through the leaves of summer's vibrant work. One willow tree stood out however, among the vines that hung like thick curtains. Fireflies seemed to gather around it, but strange though as it was the only one.

Magnus approached cautiously. He stretched out his hand and caught one of the fireflies in his hand, and immediately recoiled his hand, wincing in pain. It was hot, like a lit fresh coal from a fire's hearth.

More rustling above among the vines caused Magnus to look up. There was a huge tangle of vines caught in a nest of the thick branches. He could see someone's hand hanging limply out from the bundle. With a sudden movement, the mass started to fall from the tree's canopy. He was quick to act and lunged to catch the strange being. His arms tangled with the mess of vines and leaves as he held the bundle. Magnus winced as bright embers that surrounded them both, burning at his arms chest, but he still held the mess of vines. Someone was in there and needed help.

The young man stumbled back against the wide trunk of the willow, trying to regain his balance. He slid down to the cool grass. His robes were burned through because of the white hot embers.

Who was this? Why were they unconscious high in the tree? Why were they here? These questions echoed in Magnus' mind. Curiously, he gently pulled away the vines. He soon revealed a young woman, naked as a newborn babe.

Magnus' face flushed and he quickly averted his eyes, however, he still held a supportive hold as she rested against his chest.

Her pale skin glowed brightly like the full moon. She was cold to the touch. Magnus quickly removed his cape and wrapped her form in it. The cape was thick and heavy, gold embroidered into weaving. He only really wore it for the people who gifted it to him when he and his master were granting wishes.

Just then the wind began to blow harshly across the land. Magnus gently lifted the strange girl into his arms and carried her through the garden and back towards the Magic Tower. The sky, once full of twinkling stars, now was covered with dark and menacing clouds. A storm loomed in the distance. Magnus turned away from it and entered the tower, his home. He was going to protect anyone who needed his help, and right now, this girl, alone and lost, needed him.

End of Chapter 1 or the Prologue

I know it's been sooooo long since I've been on this site! Omg! I'm not dead here! Here's a new story, I wanted to try and get out now. This is based on a minute trailer I saw of the Disney animated movie, Wish, that's coming out in November, and instead of waiting for the movie to come. My brain did the only logical thing of come up with it's own little romance and all because I have unhealthy love for the man who voice King Magnifico in the movie, Chris Pine. God damn I love him and his movies...Anyway...I hope to have chapter 2 up soon. Please let me know what you think.

Take care now and have a wonderful day!
