Donuts for You – A Gingaman Family-Friendship Fanfic
Ginga Forest, 2011.
"Kids! We're heading out!" Hikaru cheerfully yelled at his daughter Haruka and son Hiromu as he and stood at the front door of their house. The two children were twins born to Hikaru and Saya some odd years after the final battle with the Balban forces and before the Legendary Sentai Battle against the Zangyack Empire. After their main stint as Ginga Yellow and Ginga Pink, respectively, Hikaru and Saya returned to Ginga Forest to begin the restoration of their community. No sooner did they start with the process did they get married (albeit at tender young ages in their early 20s).
Elder Orghi was the presiding minister who oversaw the ceremony and pronounced the two as husband and wife, at last. All of the team was at attendance. Gouki and Suzuko had barely gotten engaged, and Hikaru teased them by quipping, "Both of you are next!" which they heartily laughed at. Hayate and his childhood sweetheart Miharu had been the one to tie the knot before, months after the latter returned from the dead (let alone replicated by Shelinda in a blatantly unpleasant attempt to lure Hayate out for a final duel).
Ryouma had cast his doubts towards Hikaru and Saya but grew to appreciate the two's consummation. Hyuuga, initially the object of Saya's affections (despite her denials and claims about considering him just an "older brother and mentor alongside Ryouma" here and there), had his doubts about the pair as well. Nonetheless, he was very happy for both of them. At least, he had Masami, the schoolgirl he saved one time (who has since become a teacher like Suzuko), to look forward to when it comes to relationships.
A few years after, in 2006, the twins Haruka and Hiromu were brought into the world. Both shared even appearances similar to their mom and dad, although Haruka was the more mischievous of the two (like Hikaru) while Hiromu was more stern (like Saya). Ryouma and Hyuuga were declared the official godfathers of the two, although everyone else in the team and their significant others (Hayate and Miharu, Gouki and Suzuko) were also considered uncles, aunts, and unofficial caretakers. Haruhiko became the ever-so cuddly great uncle (and also honorary grandfather of sorts) while Yuuta became a big brother to both kids. Through all their struggles against the Balban, the Gingaman team became one big, partly dysfunctional yet joyous family.
Hikaru and Saya had left their old outfits behind as clothing. Instead, they donned some that were deemed more mature, very much akin to clothing from the "Old West" (like a cowboy and cowgirl, respectively, complete with the "Buckaroo-style" ten-gallon hats, although Hikaru had aviator sunglasses on alongside his old black-and-yellow headband underneath his hat while Saya opted for a pair of "John Lennons" eyewear). In spite of that transition, they still had their yellow and pink motifs all around their garbs. Because of them finally starting their own family, they had to mutually agree towards taking up a surname (due to legal purposes out in the real world); they chose "Ogami" (a family name that rhymed with "Ookami," the native term for wolf, Hikaru's spirit animal). Hence, Mr. Hikaru Ogami and Mrs. Saya Ogami.
"Getting there, Daddy!" Both Haruka and Hiromu shouted back as they ran to meet Hikaru at the door. Saya was at the living room, turning off the stereo. It was blaring "This Kiss" by Faith Hill throughout the house. The song was one of Hikaru and Saya's all-time favorites and would play it over and over again, so much that the kids got sick of it (up to the point when they'd tightly plug their ears with their fingers and shout at them to either turn it down or switch to something else). The little ones were also dressed in Western garbs, complete with a yellow shirt for Hiromu (to mimic his father) and a pink shirt for Haruka (to mimic her mother).
As soon as everything in the house was secured, Saya walked out the door to join her family. Hikaru hugged her on the side.
"Shall we, Mama?" Hikaru asked with a gleeful smile on his face.
"Back at'cha, Papa!" Saya responded happily in kind.
"You're the best." Hikaru said as he kissed Saya's cheek.
"So are you, Stud!" Saya said as she kissed his.
Hiromu jumped towards Hikaru for his father to put him on and ride on his back. Haruka jumped towards Saya for her to be cradled by her mother. They were to ride their horses for an outing in town. The old Yellow Thunder and Pink Flower had died a couple of years back, only for the two horses to be buried with full honors out in the Ginga Forest and replaced with new ones. The whole family walked towards and climbed on their steeds, ready to spend the day in peace, away from fighting during the old days. Hiromu clung behind Hikaru while Haruka clung behind Saya as they rode out to town (but not without passing through Ginga Forest).
"So, Hiro-Chan, what do you wanna do?" Hikaru asked his son.
"Let's go to the amusement park, Daddy!" Hiromu exclaimed with uncontrollable excitement.
"I second that, Dear!" Saya shouted beside Hikaru a few paces beside him.
The Ogami Family rode through the forest when, halfway through, they stumbled upon Ryouma and Hyuuga. On Ryouma's hand was a white box, which contained an assortment of little "Munchkin" donut balls given to him and Hyuuga by the Gokaigers, the new team of Rangers currently protecting Earth from the invasion by the Zangyack Empire. The brothers had just finished helping out the Gokaigers in defeating an old enemy. In one instance, Hyuuga had asked Gai Ikari (GokaiSilver) for the latter's Cellular (transformation phone). The younger warrior had to make a tough decision and knew he was being tested by Bull Black. Because of Silver's resilience, he didn't hand Bull Black the phone. Bull Black and Ginga Red then bore witness to the determination of the reputable space pirates as they battled against MagiMother, DekaMaster, Black Knight, and Wolzard Fire (all of them replicas). This was followed by them going up against Moondroid Tsukki while operating Shinken GokaiOh and GoZyuJin, and they managed to dispose of the monster through the power of teamwork. By God, was this a story to tell the other Gingamen! But, it's gonna be for another time.
"Ryouma! Hyuuga!" Hikaru called them out from his horse.
"Hey, Hikaru! Good to see you!" Ryouma replied as he shook his hand. Hikaru also greeted Hyuuga with a handshake and a firm "Whassup, Bro?"
"Uncle Ryouma! Uncle Hyuuga!" Hiromu and Haruka called out the brothers while riding behind their parents.
"Hey, Kids!" Hyuuga called back as he patted their heads playfully and gave Saya a gangster-style fist-bump. Saya just giggled and smiled.
"So, where y'all headed to?" Ryouma asked the family.
"Oh, just another stroll during another day in Urban Paradise!" Hikaru mused to the brothers.
"Alright. But, don't go without these. Ryouma." Hyuuga let the family know that they had something for them.
"Here," Ryouma said as he presented a white box to Hikaru.
"Ooh, lemme guess – Donuts." Hikaru intuitively exclaimed.
"Yep, given to us by the Gokaigers!" Ryouma replied as he and Hyuuga nodded.
"Those space pirates that just made good work of some Zangyack forces nearby?" Saya asked eagerly. The brothers nodded.
"I'll hand it to them. They're tough. You should've seen them - They even used their pocket phones to change into our team." Hyuuga mused to the family with a smile. "Even one guy, exactly named Gai, an ordinary boy unlike the others in the team, was quite the fan of all of us. So, I tested him to see if he's very determined to join his friends in battle or entrust the powers back to the old generation. He chose the former." Hyuuga explained as he crossed his arms.
"That's great to hear. I think they'll do fine in their own quest to vanquish the Zangyack forces, even better than us. Our time has passed. So..." Hikaru claimed as he heard the story.
"Well, you get the idea. Now, I don't wanna hold you off on your day's worth of fun. So, we'll see you later!" Ryouma said as he patted Hikaru's arm.
"Right. Thanks for the donuts, Ryouma and Hyuuga!" Hikaru replied in hearty gratitude.
The rest of the family also bid the brothers farewell for the day in return. Then, they continued their ride into the city.
As Ryouma and Hyuuga walked back to the village, Ryouma couldn't help but ask Hyuuga, "Lovely bunch, aren't they? So, how are things with you and Masami?"
"Getting there. Although, we just gotta take it easy on each other. I'll admit, though. I can't get on par with Hikaru on how he managed to win Saya's heart over in the end." Hyuuga replied with a gentle smile and chuckle.
"Yeah, well, you're not him, Breh."
"That, I'll have to wholeheartedly agree on." The brothers laughed as they patted each other on the back on the way home.
