A/N: It's the first chapter of my re-write! I hope you all enjoy it. Also, any aspects of the OG series you see in this I honestly liked them and wanted to keep it in lol.
I knew something was going on, something that made my mother and that... man way too giddy to contain well. All day they had been smiling from ear to ear, whispering to each other whenever they thought they were alone together. Passive aggressive comments and sudden halts of their conversations in front of Jimmy and I gave me the tell tale sign that whatever they were so excited about was about us.
"If they do not tell us what the hell is going on I'm going to lose it." I ranted, Jimmy had taken refuge in my room after dinner.
It wasn't anything new, he had been doing it a lot more lately ever since mom married stepdad number 7 maybe? I honestly couldn't keep track of them all anymore.
"Jade, if we know mom, she isn't going to keep this secret for long. She has been and always will be a blabber mouth." Jimmy reassured me plainly, laying down on my carpeted floor.
"Well," I got up from my bed and began to pace. "I wish she would start blabbering soon, cause this is really starting to annoy the fire out of me."
"Jimmy, Jade! Get down here now!" My stepdad's familiar voice called out.
Jimmy sighed, sitting up now. "You're getting your wish sis."
"Finally." I scoffed, eagerly leaving my room.
I walked into the living room, eyeing the newly wed couple skeptically.
"Where is your brother?" Mom asked in exasperation.
"He's coming…" I turned my head, waiting for Jimmy to turn the corner from the hallway. "Slowly but he's coming."
"Jimmy!" Mom yelled, making me jump.
"I'm coming, geez." Jimmy replied, now annoyed himself.
We stood in front of our parents, an awkward silence casted itself upon the room.
"Sit down." Our step dad said, looking at us moodily.
I huffed out a breath, plopping on the arm of the couch, Jimmy took the seat right next to me.
Mom cleared her throat, the giddy smile she was wearing all day had returned, making my stomach twist for some strange reason. "Well, your new stepfather and I have been just… so happy." She gushed.
Even though I didn't like the jerk, it was nice seeing mom so elated. But, I knew it wouldn't last long… she always chased her next high while the only one was just barely coming down.
"So, we've decided to take off for a little bit." Our stepfather finished.
Jimmy and I looked at each other in pure confusion, that was their big secret?
"That's it?" Jimmy asked, sharing the same sentiment as me. "You guys have been acting weird all day because you're going on a trip?"
"Well… no." Mom started hesitantly. "We have decided to… send you guys to a boarding school while we're away."
"And you'll stay there even after we get back… lord knows you two need some good authority figures around you." Our stepdad added.
"Are you kidding me?" I ask, my tone full of tension.
"You-you can't be serious!" Jimmy protested, clearly in shock from the news.
"Yes we are boy," He spoke condescendingly.
"This is ridiculous." I stated heatedly. "How long are you going to be gone for?" I asked.
"A year." Mom answered nonchalantly.
"That's taking off for a little bit!?" I exclaim. "Are you two out of your mind!?" I added, practically shooting out of my seat.
"Hey, you lose that attitude missy!" Our stepdad ordered, getting up from his seat and putting a finger in my face.
"Back off!" Jimmy said, trying to get in between.
"Get the hell out of my face!" I smacked his hand away, storming off toward my room.
"Jade!? Jade! You get back here now!" He yelled angrily, following after me. I could hear Jimmy and mom's thundering footsteps following after us.
As soon as I was about to close and lock my door my arm was grabbed.
I tugged my arm roughly out of his grip before getting in his face.
"You are a joke." I hissed before slamming the door shut.
I kicked my dresser, wanting to get my frustration out somehow.
"This is fuckin' bullshit!"
"Jimmy, Jade… c'mon can one of you say something?"
It was the first words I had heard from my mother in hours.
And if I was being completely honest, I wish she had just kept her damn mouth shut.
I mean, what was she expecting from my brother and I, really? She was dumping us off at some random school in the middle of Boston, plucking us away from our childhood home, plucking us away from all of the memories, family, friends we had ever known.
And why was she dumping us away for? Not to get a fresh start or… wanting a change of scenery. It was to dump us off at some place so she could go on some cruise for a year with a man she met 4 months ago.
So to say that Jimmy and I were livid with her would be an understatement.
"Speak to your mother, you two."
And it didn't help that the said "love of her life" she was with was a complete douchebag.
I could feel myself tense just at the sound of that man's voice and before I knew it, I was glaring up at the front seat, hoping they'd feel the fire of my gaze.
"Hey Jimmy, did you hear that?" I then asked in a sardonic voice, leaning carefully over to my equally heated brother. "I thought I heard something I just… can't put my finger on it." I added with an exaggerated amount of cluelessness.
Jimmy smiled just slightly, before quickly playing along with me. "Yeah I did hear it… it sounded like a bunch of bullshit." He replied, making our mother gasp in outrage and our "stepfather" clutch the wheel of the car with a bruising force.
Our mother whipped her head around to face us, her face twisted in anger and loathing. "How dare you talk to your stepfather that way, I raised you two better than to be talking like that!" She practically screeched
"Sure you did." I muttered, rolling my eyes at her exaggerated words.
In all honesty, as much as I loved my mother to death. She was never the… best parent. Well, she was at first, being as doting as every mother should be. But after our dad had left when Jimmy and I were 9, she had never been the same since.
"Jade, lose the attitude." Our stepfather said, failing to maintain his cocky and composed stature.
Jimmy spoke up before I could, fire burning in his eyes as he talked back. "What, who are you? Mom, you always told Jade and I never to talk to strangers." He spat bitterly.
"That is it!" My mother began sharply. "I have had it with you little brats, all I want is some peace and quiet with my husband and you two insult him!"
"Ugh, now you've upset your mother, you know I've got half a mind to beat you two."
"Half a mind is right, I'm glad you finally realized it." I replied, glad to get a rise out of the idiotic man.
"I just… can't believe you little monsters, we'll deal with you when we get back from our honeymoon, next year." Mom gloated, making my jaw clench and Jimmy's glare somehow get even more heated than before.
"Here we are you two, Bullworth Academy, we'll think of you from our cruise ship." Our "stepfather" chuckled. "If we even come back next year…" He added cockily as we pulled to a stop in front of a Gothic looking building.
"Ah yes, you two must be so glad to gloat about abandoning your kids." I spoke sarcastically, giving the pair of them a forced smile. "That's some real parenting right there."
Before I could get the chance to hear their reply. I practically shot out of the car, quickly grabbing my bag before slamming the door. I took in a deep breath, trying to get rid of the mountains of tension I felt, but it was no use… The anger and hurt I felt wasn't going to go away with a few simple deep breaths.
The second Jimmy got out of the car, our "stepfather" sped off, barely giving Jimmy any time to close the door. I looked at the speeding car bitterly as they left us in the dust without a single care in the world.
"You have no taste mother… why'd you even marry that phony?" I questioned, finally tearing my eyes away from the street once the car disappeared around the bend.
"Beats me sis." Jimmy replied, sounding much less tense than before. "You alright?" He added, though he tried to sound… apathetic as he spoke, I could tell he was worried about me.
I shrugged my shoulders before crossing my arms. "I'm alright as I can be, there's not really much we can do about this whole mess."
Suddenly, the light clicking of heels could be heard, growing louder by a second. They then paused before a strict, feminine voice spoke out. "You're the Hopkins kids I presume?" She asked, raising an eyebrow as she eyed us.
"Yes ma'am." I answered boredly.
"Wha… where did you even come from?" Jimmy muttered, confusion riddled in his voice.
The woman ignored Jimmy's question, instead forcing a bright smile before replying.
"We've been expecting you, welcome to Bullworth Academy!" She then sighed, composing herself. "I'm positive the two of you will be happy here, very happy instead."
I gave her a smile, though on the inside I was cringing… I was extremely doubtful I would enjoy myself here. Hell, I didn't even want to be here in the first place.
"Well, I can't spend all day waiting around for naughty girls and boys. I've got a man to make happy." The woman explained, more so talking to herself than either one of us. "Now, come along you two the headmaster is expecting you in his study."
Jimmy, desperate to try and avoid going into the Academy as much as possible, quickly turned away from the… elated woman. "Okay." He muttered, fully ready to bolt down the street, but the woman stopped him almost immediately.
"His study is over there boy, in the main building. Don't keep Dr. Crabblesnitch waiting." She scolds, giving Jimmy a disapproving look. "He's a brilliant man, absolutely brilliant."
I really hope she's not married…
As we walked through the steel gate, we got a good view of the school. And, I had to admit, it was stunning, grand… It definitely was the best looking school I had been to. But, I could just tell by the people who were staring us down that the looks were the only nice things about this place.
But then, an interesting sight caught my eye.
It was a boy, who looked around my age, staring us down. He looked like someone who was plucked straight out of the 60's. He had meticulously slicked back hair and was wearing an old, worn in leather jacket. Though, when he noticed that I had seen him, he took off into the school, making me feel a bit… apprehensive, or like I was being watched.
People seemed very… welcoming.
Johnny's POV
Everyone had been talking about them, the two new students who were supposed to be coming at the start of the term. It put me on edge… I didn't know what their intentions were, or what they would try to pull with me and my boys…
Or even Lola, that damn harlot.
"I seen em man!" Ricky had run into the lunchroom, completely out of breath.
"Boys or girls?" I asked, looking at him expectantly.
"One boy, one girl." Ricky said, catching his breath. "Let me tell you that girl is a looker." He added sleazily.
"You think every new girl here is a looker." I muttered.
Ricky grinned at me, not taking offense to me in the slightest. "You know it, Boss."
"You think they'll cause much trouble?" Hal asked, narrowing his eyes just at the thought of them.
"Nah… especially the guy, dude's shorter than Vance." Ricky muttered humorously. "We ain't got nothin' to worry about."
"That's good to hear." Hal said, cracking his knuckles. "It still wouldn't hurt to give them a little… initiation though."
"Look you can mess with the dude all you want… but leave the chick alone." Ricky replied.
Hal rolled his eyes, giving Ricky a tired look. "You're goin' to try and shoot your shot again huh?"
"Of course." Ricky said, grinning sleazily.
"What happened to the last new girl that showed up here? Weren't you going to ask that one out too?" I asked humorously.
"That one was a witch alright? I admit I don't always have the best taste." Ricky admitted, putting his hands up in defense. "But she's different man I can tell."
"Sure." Hal huffed.
"Just wait til' you see her… trust me."
Jade's POV
This headmaster must be full of themselves, every inch of the office was covered in a picture that looked like him. The room itself felt creepy, all the curtains were drawn shut and taxidermy littered a few shelves in the room.
This definitely isn't a principal's office I was used to seeing…
"Ah yes," The Headmaster spoke, standing up from his chair tally. "You must be the Hopkins' kids?"
"Yes sir, that's us." I replied.
"Uh huh." Jimmy mumbled, not even trying to sound enthused.
"Uh huh?" Dr. Crabblesnitch repeated. "Uh huh, what?"
Jimmy sighed, rolling his eyes. "I meant yes sir." He corrected in a bored tone.
"Very good, have a seat." Dr. Crabblesnitch ordered, gesturing to the line of wooden chairs in front of his desk.
I could feel my stomach twist at his patronizing words, I didn't know why I felt so nervous all of the sudden. He looked no different from the other principals we had. They all had the same schick. Speak formally and professionally, wear an off brand fancy suit, and give me the most patronizing tone of voice they could manage.
"Let's see here." Dr. Crabblesnitch started, looking down at what seemed to be our permanent records. "You've done a lot of naughty things haven't you two?"
Jimmy and I looked at each other, smirks curving both of our lips. We then looked back down at our laps, trying hard not to laugh.
"We'll start with you Mr. Hopkins… vandalism, graffiti, bad language, violent conduct, disrespecting staff... Oh, I'm scared of you Mr. Hopkins!" Dr. Crabblesnitch exclaimed sarcastically.
"Oh give me a break." Jimmy replied in fake desperation.
Dr. Crabblesnitch scoffed at my brother before casting his record aside. He grabbed mine, he scanned it for a bit before raising his eyebrow at me. I looked back at him in confusion, I knew I could be a bit… brash at times. But I know my record is not nearly as bad as Jimmy's.
"Well Miss Hopkins, your record is not nearly as bad as your brother."
I simply nodded at his statement, waiting for him to continue.
"But your bad temper and bad language has got to go! That is no way a young lady such as yourself should act!" He added, giving me a disappointed look.
"That's fair sir." I muttered, this meeting was beginning to get painful.
"Your mother and stepfather have also informed me that you are quite the attention seeker."
I felt my stomach twist at his sentence, I looked up at the man fighting the urge to glare at him.
"Excuse me?" I ask, Jimmy seemed to hear the tension in my voice as I spoke. He clutched my hand under the table before giving it a reassuring squeeze.
"I must say I agree with them, dark makeup, facial piercings, multiple ear piercings, dyed hair, dark clothes… they all seem to be cries out for attention."
"It's a style choice."
"One I hope you get rid of quite soon." He simply replied, not taking my reasoning seriously. He then tsked, obviously judging our past decisions.
"My goodness from the looks of these sheets you two must be the worst kids this school has ever seen! Why should I waste my time on you?"
I didn't say anything to him, my lips pursed in annoyance.
"Who knows?" Jimmy said.
"Because it's my calling!
He shot up from where he was sitting. It's just what I do, you excel at causing trouble and I excel at fixing boys and girls such as yourselves. By the end of your stay, you will be acceptable members of our community! I've got a good feeling about you two, we will all be great friends. You keep your noses clean or I will clean them myself!"
He looked at the door before speaking again. "Miss. Danvers, are you back yet?"
"Yes Sir, and I brought your tea." She said sweetly.
"You are good to me Miss Danvers."
"No more than you deserve, headmaster." She placed the tea down on his desk before looking at him lovingly.
"Could you show these two around the school? And get them properly attired?" He asked.
"Of course headmaster!" She replied eagerly, She then turned toward us and glared. "Come along you two, I haven't got all day." We all started to walk out of the office when stopped us.
"Remember you two, keep that nose clean or we'll clean it for you!" I half heartedly nodded before leaving the dim office.
The hell is up with this guy and noses?
