First lesson: mathematics. The boy next to me seems nice enough, but he looks a little strange. He has a crow head and flat, red eyes. He's a bit intimidating, I don't think I'll be able to talk to him.

Our maths teacher walks in. "Today we'll be continuing on from yesterday, I'll hand out your worksheets and protractors," He states with a monotone voice. The person next to me puts his hand up. "Yes, Tokoyami?" He sounds unimpressed. "There's a new student, he doesn't know what we're doing," Tokoyami says with a voice just as deadpan as the teacher. The teacher sighs and pulls out a blank worksheet. He hands out everyone's sheet and protractors and then walks over to my seat. He puts the paper on my table and asks, "Do you know how to do this?" I look down, it's just shapes and angles. I nod and pull out my blue pen. The teacher walks to the front of the class and waits for anyone to need help.

I begin writing, this work is easy. Find the area of this shape, draw this shape accurately, what's this angle, those kinds of questions. Half way into the lesson i'm already nearly finished, some of the people in this class must be idiots. I look next to me, that Tokoyami person was done a while ago. We accidentally make eye contact and I look back at my sheet, he's scary. The last questions don't take me very long, they're quite easy. When I finish all the questions, I pull my notebook out of my bag. Fukawa insisted on me having one for her to read so she always knows how I'm feeling. I open it to the first page and begin writing about this lesson. It's easy, but I like maths so it's fine, stuff along that lines. Fukawa is always confused when I tell her that maths is my favourite subject, tied with art. She finds maths boring and tedious, she prefers subjects where there isn't a specific answer, like literature or geography. It feels like people are staring at me, so I look up. The teacher is standing over me and people are staring at me. "Are you finished? Let me see your sheet," He commands. I don't do anything, so he just grabs my sheet. He looks through my answers and my hands start shaking, move back a little bit. I fiddle with my pencil while he looks through the answers on the back. "Hm, good job." I sigh, relieved there was nothing wrong, but then more people turn to stare at me. Their mouths are wide open and they look confused. I start to feel dizzy, stop staring at me...

"Are you alright?" Tokoyami whispers to me. I can't talk, I just shake my head. He's saying something, I just don't know what it is. Everything sounds so far away, but also so loud. I rummage through my bag in a panic and pull out my noise cancelling headphones. I put them over my ears and slump down in my chair. Then, I feel myself escaping to the back of my head, somebody else is here.
