I come into consciousness and examine my surroundings. I feel the foam from our headphones on my head and I pull them off. I look down at my hand to see a few notes, 'You are in class 2F. Fukawa is not with you', 'You are in a new school' and 'The bird headed boy is named Tokoyami'. I look up and see that half the class are staring at me. "It's rude to stare ya know!" I yell. Everyone goes back to what they were doing. Jeez, has nobody got manners! I look to my right and see a wall, I look to my left and see a boy with a bird head, that must be Tokoyami. Kosa keeps tell me I need to avoid conflict or something, so I'll just keep to myself. I look at my desk and see a notebook that somebody started writing about this lesson in. We must be in maths class then. I go to the back of the notebook and pull out my pencil. I start doodling, praying that the lesson will be over soon. The boy next to me leans over. "What happened?" He asks me.
"What do ya mean?" I put my pencil on top of my notebook.
"You're completely different to what you were a minute ago." I giggle, I know exactly what he's talking about. "I switched!" I start, "My name's Yoshiko, nice to meet you!" He looks a bit confused when I introduce myself, but just shrugs and goes back to doing nothing.
The lesson before break was english, and it was really boring. Nothing interesting happened that lesson, just learning words I'll never use. It's lunch time now, I'll meet up with Fukawa in the hall.
On my trek to the lunch hall, I get stopped by somebody. "You embarrassed me in home room." He tells me angrily. I don't even know who this is.
"I'm not even lying to you, I have no clue who you are," I answer him truthfully, looking to the side in an attempt to avoid eye contact. I think that just offends him more though because he screams, "LOOK AT ME WHEN I TALK TO YOU!" He grabs me by the shoulders and people gather around us. "What do you think you're doing!? Get your hands off me!" I yell. I don't see it coming, and he punches me in the nose. I can hear teachers trying to get through and my eyes water. "That hurt ya know!" I stamp on his foot and he lets my shoulders go. I go to walk away but he pulls my hair back. I elbow him in the chest and he grabs me again. Just then, I hear two voices in the crowd that I recognise. "BEAT HIS ASS, YOSHIKO!" Fukawa screams from the crowd. "You're not going to let him do that to you, are you?" Tokoyami says, strangely calm. I smirk and kick him in the stomach. He falls back and I hook the side of his face. He falls onto the floor and I push angrily through the crowd to the lunch hall. It felt good, but all those people staring nearly made me sick. I feel a bit dizzy from the adrenaline!
