Shadow: Ultimate

A/N: Sup guys? Chapter 2 is here! After the massacre of agents seen in Chapter 1, how will G.U.N proceed? What will they do? Find out, in this new chapter of Shadow: Ultimate!

CHAPTER 2 – THE MISSION. ONE HOUR AFTER THE STATION SQUARE BEACH MURDERS.

"Can Agent Shadow the Hedgehog please make his way towards the Commander's office? I repeat, can an Agent Shadow the Hedgehog make his way towards the Commander's office. Thank you."

Great. This meant business. Shadow, upon hearing the PA, jumped up from the table he was sitting on, making his way towards the office. Agents stopped and waved at him as he made the walk, but being his typical self, he paid them no heed. He knocked at the door, and was ushered in.

"Ah, Shadow. Thank you for coming in to see me under short notice", the commander shakily said. Shadow just stood there; arms folded. He could tell, the Commander was nervous. Scared even.

"Let's just cut the formalities. Why have I been summoned here? And just what happened that put you in a panic Commander? You should know me now. I know when you're scared." Shadow walked over, taking a seat.

"R-right. You see, an hour ago, at Station Square Beach, there was another sighting of that city in the sky. But something different happened. All agents stationed there; they-they were killed".

Killed? How? "Wait what? There were some strong agents on that team. Do you know the cause of death?" Shadow asked. He was really beginning to get concerned. Just what was it that murdered a group of 30 at once?

"I-it was a huge explosion of Chaos Energy", the commander reluctantly said. Huge explosion of chaos energy, that killed all these men, this can only mean one thing, Shadow thought.

"Commander, I know the move that killed these men" Shadow said in a firm voice.

"Y-you do? P-please, enlighten me!"

"It's a powerful move, known as Chaos Oblivion. The user basically creates a death attack, summoning a tremendous amount of chaos energy to do so. The resulting explosion makes chaos energy enter the victim's bodies, essentially destroying them from the inside. But that's enough of the murders. The city's been spotted?"

"Yes. It has."

This was big news. Only the higher-ups knew about the case of Angel City, and at the moment was G.U.N's top secret mission. Perhaps that's why the agents down there were confused as to what the city really is, Shadow thought. But then a question popped into his head.

"Listen, I send my condolences to the agents murdered, but I have 2 things to say. 1, was the perpetrator seen? And 2 – What does any of this have revolving me?"

The Commander stopped, sighing before saying: "There was footage of the incident, but the angle of it didn't get us to have a good view of the bastard that killed those agents. As for why this concerns you, well.."

Shadow then got annoyed. "Tch, just spit it out already! Why do you need me?"

"We've been planning for someone to infiltrate and get onto that city. So far, everyone's failed their fitness tests to do so, but your recent ones, they prove they're more than enough. Considering your track record when it comes to missions, we're sure that you can get this done.", said the Commander. He was nervous, and Shadow could tell. He was constantly adjusting his tie and pinching his glasses.

"So wait, is this some sort of a recon mission or something?"

"Yes, I suppose so. The idea is to record everything on that city so that we know what they are planning up there and how we can infiltrate in the future. Do you accept?"

Shadow thought long and hard about that one. On one hand, the whole thing did sound sketchy. On the other hand, many agents had died, and he was wanting to take down that city once and for all. Finally, he came to an answer.

"Alright. I accept. But the plan had better be really damn good. I sincerely hope that you've thought this through."

"We have, Agent Shadow. You will have transportation to Angel City, which can turn itself invisible, provided to you. Oh and by the way, take these", the Commander said, holding out a communicator earpiece with a microphone to his mouth.

Shadow attached it to his ear, not switching the microphone on. He had to be careful as to how he moved, so the microphone wouldn't be damaged. It was close to his mouth enough. "So, I have a communicator or partner huh? Who is it? Better be damned good".

"It should be. We reached out to your friend, Sonic. He saved the world multiple times, so we can trust on him. He'll be in the communications systems", the Commander said with a smile.

You got to be kidding me…but Sonic compared to any other pathetic agent in this group would be better I guess. I'll take it for now. I just sincerely hope nothing goes wrong, Shadow thought.

"Tch, I guess that's fine. Is the transportation ready?"

"Ready ever since 2 hours ago. You can go now; we'll be tracking you with the device on those ring bracelets of yours".

"I guess that's a deal. See you around, Commander."

"Good luck, Shadow".

And with that, Shadow left the room, switching on the microphone.

"Sonic. You there?" asked Shadow.

"Fin-a-lly. You are really slow with meetings, you know that? But anyway, the launch pad for your ship thingy is straight ahead of your location. Just move straight ahead," came the happy, carefree voice of Shadow's arch-rival, Sonic the Hedgehog.

Shadow made it to the launch pad, finding his allocated ship. He entered, where it automatically closed and began preparations to launch. Shadow also kept note of the weapons and ammunitions on the walls. Probably to aid him on the quest.

"Here we go, Shadow" said Sonic over the comms.

"Yes. Here we go."

And with that, the ship took off, turning invisible at that, ready to head to Angel City.

A/N: With this, Shadow is headed to Angel City! But what will happen when he arrives? Will he make any new friends? Or will he make potentially deadly enemies? Find out, in the next explosive chapter of Shadow: Ultimate!
