Chapter 2
"Alright, just need to drop all of this off at home then go meet up with the others, and my…girlfriend." It felt strange to say that, but in an exciting way. He began to walk off with a grin on his face, it had been some first day for him. Nothing could possibly bring him down or ruin this awesome day. So he thought anyways. "I'll cut through this construction zone to save some time…" He snuck under some caution tape since his apartment was just on the other side. It would get him done faster so he could hurry to see them again.
A black tar like puddle was oozing up near him, seemed harmless at first right? Probably just left over from the work that was done here today. He just carefully walked around it, but little to his knowledge…the puddle began to follow him.
"Huh? I thought I had already passed this thing a ways back. Guess my head really is up in the clouds. I could have sword I had walked further away from this…" He continued to the other side, but as he turned around, the puddle was gone. "That's…strange?" As he turned back forward to continue, there it was.
The puddle began to bubble up and steam. Hesitantly, Katsuro slowly took a few steps back in confusion. What the hell was going on? Puddles can't just move or teleport. Something damn strange was definitely going on here. Then, what was that?! It appeared that there were…heads slowly rising up?! Strange black skeletal creatures wearing what seemed to be feudal Japan armor began to crawl out of the puddle. Their blood red eyes glowing, fixated on Katsuro.
"W-W-What the hell?!" He gritted his teeth, his eyes wide in shock as he dropped his groceries and fell backwards to the ground, crawling back away from this strange sight. "M-M-M-MONSTERS?!" He crawled back more then bumped into something strange. Legs? Furry legs? His gaze slowly moved upward to see a strange creature with a bird like head, teeth glistening in the light of the sun. It had red fur all over it's body and dark red feathered wings. Humanoid in shape, it had sharp claws at the ends of the finger tips. Katsuro's hand slowly moved back to feel it's feet. They were bird like with talons.
"Give me your life energy…" The creature growled then took a swing at Katsuro as his senses quickly came back to him. Fight or flight being triggered, he pushed himself to the side to dodge the swipe, his shirt being slashed as he rolled to a stop.
"My life energy?! What the hell is this?!" He saw a large group of those skeletal figures had formed now. "This is is the kind of stuff that…Sailor Moon and those others fight? Why do these things want me?" The creatures began to advance towards him. He crawled backwards in complete fear till he felt his hand bump into something. There was a long metal pipe on the ground next to him. It was clearly time to switch to fight instead of flight. Running wasn't going to get him anywhere. His eyes changed from shock and fear to focus and anger. "Alright ass clowns. You want energy? Come get it." With that he jumped to his feet, grasping the pipe like a sword.
Each of the creatures wielded a different type of weapon: katana, axe, mace, sword, etc. They began to charge him at the bird creature's command. He began to swing the pipe, blocking blades and other weapons then smashing it into them one by one.
"Have a nice trip!" He made a sweeping motion at one, knocking it off it's feet then smashing downward into it's face. It disappeared into a black mist. "Alright good, looks like they can be taken out. One down…nineteen and a boss monster to go? Fuck…" He cursed under his breath as they began to surround him. "Ugh!" He grunted, being smacked from behind by one then made a spin around with a roundhouse kick, knocking it into some others. "Bring it!" He began to make blocks with the pipe then land punches or kicks to knock them away.
"Get him! I want his energy for the master!" The bird creature growled out as they began to pile on him, grabbing his arms and around his waist.
"No, ugh. Let me go!" He used his head to smack into the face of one behind him before his hair was grabbed to be held still. He began struggling as hard as he could before the bird youma stood before him.
"Now lets have that life energy." It gave an evil chuckly before raising it's right hand and blasting Katsuro with a black energy. What looked to be a circle of light opened up on Katsuro's chest, a bright light began to come through. Something else was happening though, it appeared that there was something coming out of his body. Something with an orange glow began to emerge as Katsuro yelled out in pain.
Just as it was about to show itself, someone called out from a distance. "Mars Flame Sniper!" And out of nowhere a flaming arrow struck the creature through one of its wings. "Back away from that boy! The next one won't miss!" A raven haired girl stood on the top of an excavator cabin. "I am the Pretty Guardian who fights for Love and for Passion! I am Sailor Mars! In the name of Mars, I'll chastise you!" She exclaimed, pointing to the monster and it's minions.
"Who the hell is this girl?!" The demon glared up at her.
"Sailor Mars? Holy shit, did I just get saved by a Sailor Senshi?" Katsuro's eyes went wide. The light from his chest had gone away and the object that was beginning to emerge disappeared. 'These things are distracted. Now's my chance' He used all his strength to pull his arms forward, flipping the two holding him on each side into a front flip, thudding onto the ground. He the grabbed the other one by the head with both hands, flipping it over his shoulders and smashing it to the ground. Then with a sweep kick, knocking the one that had been holding around his waist to the ground.
"Are you alright?" Sailor Mars asked, running to the boy, striking down a few of the minions before getting to his side. 'What are these things? Could it have something to do with my vision?!'
"A bit banged up, but it one piece thanks to you…" He saw the creature's getting up and the bird youma glaring angrily at them. "I'm guessing right now, less talky more fighty?" He asked as she looked over to him.
"No, you need to get out of here. I will handle these things." Mars said sternly, This wasn't a matter for civilians. This was a Sailor Guardian issue.
"Yeah, sorry. These shit wads made this personal. So I'm going to stay for some payback." He cracked his neck to each side. "And worst of all. They…made me late! Let's do this!" With that he charged in, dodging swipes from weapons and landing punches.
The creature began to make its way back to Katsuro but another flame arrow was shot at it's feet. "Your fight is with me now." Mars glared as she ran to it. She began to swiftly move out of the way of the claws swiping at her, then landed a kick into it's face. It grabbed her leg then lifted her up, then with a crash she was smacked into the ground.
"Sailor Mars!" Katsuro yelled out, fighting the minions off. He could see her head bleeding with her eyes struggling to stay open. "Damnit!" He made a kick into one's chest to knock it back into two others. Then jumping off of it's chest as it fell, he leapt into the air. The creature still had her held by the ankle and was about to slash down at her till it's face was met with Katsuro's foot. Releasing her, it stumbled back as Katsuro slowly lifted her arm over his shoulder. Her ankle had been injured by where it grabbed her. He began to try and walk away with the barely conscious Mars.
"You aren't getting away that easily boy." It opened it's beak before blasting a ball of flame at Katsuro, striking him in the back as the two stumbled and fell. Smoke came off his back where the blast had hit, his clothes had a circle shape burn where his back was exposed. "Now be good and stay there. I'll be taking both of your life forces now." As the creature neared, Katsuro grabbed a handful of dirt and threw it into the thing's eyes. "You little bastard!" It grabbed it's face to try and wipe the dirt away.
Katsuro stumbled back to his feet with Mars and began making their escape towards the building in the construction site. He got behind a wall where the minions and the monster couldn't see. His hand slowly moved her hair from the wound on her head and he pulled a handkerchief out to clean the wound.
"Huh…what happened?" Mars weakly asked him.
"Shhh. I got us away from them for now, you got hurt pretty bad." He continued to treat the wound. "It looks like your ankle is sprained where that thing grabbed you and slammed you down. Hold on." He grabbed her leg, resting it on his lap as he slowly removed her shoe. She blushed slightly with him holding her leg like that. He could hear the creature yelling outside trying to find them. He tore a piece of his school jacket apart to use as a bandage, wrapping around her foot and ankle to stabilize it and keep from swelling more. He slipped her shoe carefully back on.
"Uhm…thanks…" She said quietly before hearing the creatures getting close. "I have to stop them." She began to struggle to stand up then winced in pain.
"No, you aren't in any condition to fight all of those. You're a Sailor Senshi right? There's others aren't there? Go call your friends or teammates for help. I'll try to distract and hold those things off." He helped her up against the wall then started to walk outside.
"No, stop! You'll get yourself hurt or killed! You can't take them, you're just a normal person." Mars pleaded with him, trying to walk towards Katsuro.
"Stop. Go. Get help. I'll be fine, at least for a while. Trust me, I can be an unpredictable agent of chaos myself. I'll figure something out to hold on a while." He gave a smile and thumbs up as he took off running.
"That idiot…I don't know who he is, but he is brave I'll give him that. Or just stupid." She began stumbling away before making it to the other side of the building, pulling out her communicator. "Everyone! I need help, there's a youma attacking the construction site just north of Juuban High. There's…a person in danger. He saved me and is trying to hold these things off. Please, hurry!"
"We're near the shrine. We'll be there as soon as possible!" Makoto replied.
"Come out, come out! You two can't hide forever. I can almost taste all that glorious energy. I'm going to drain every drop then kill you both." The creature snickered before being smacked in the head by a rock.
"Hey bird brain, over here!" Katsuro called out from the roof of a shed. He then jumped down to the ground, making a roll forward then grabbing a garbage can lid on his way. He stopped in a crouched position then chunked it like a frisbee that smacked the creature perfectly in it's jaw.
"You insolent little…" It was getting more pissed by the second at him. "Shadow Warriors!" It called as more creatures rose up from the ground around Katsuro.
"Ruh roh." His eyes went wide as two made a swipe at him from both sides. He jumped up into the air and did a split kick to the one on the left and the right, smacking them in the faces. He began to throw punches and blocks at the creatures attacking him, but no matter what, he managed to get hits thrown in to piss off the bird youma. "Hey! Wanna play kick the can?!" He got his foot into what appeared to be an aluminum coffee container that smacked the bird directly on the forehead.
"That's it, you're mine!" Blinded by rage, it charged in, even trampling over its own minions, getting rid of them as it grabbed Katsuro's face, lifting him up. "Where's those smartass remarks now?! HUH?! What do you have to say for yourself?!"
Katsuro mumbled something that couldn't be heard because of the positioning of the creature's hand. The creature grabbed him by the shirt. "I'm sorry, what was that?! Any last words?" It grinned menacingly.
"I said…lookout…behind you…" He weakly said with a smirk.
"Right, I wont fall for such stupid tricks!" Just as it said that, it was stricken with a golden heart shaped attack.
"Venus Love and Beauty Shock!" The blond Senshi in the orange sailor fuku called out right before the attack struck the creature on the back. It released Katsuro as he landed on the ground with a thud.
'No, its Katsuro?! That's who was being attacked?!' Her eyes widened the second she noticed the red haired boy.
"Venus! Focus!" Jupiter yelled as the blond shook her head to clear the thoughts from her mind for now. "Jupiter Oak Evolution!" She called out, sending electricity powered energy leaves at the creature that began to slash it up, it called out in pain before turning to face them.
"More insects?! Die!" It began to blast balls of fire at the girls as they scrambled in different directions to avoid them.
"Let's put this fire out! Mercury Aqua Rhaspody!" She called out, materializing a watery harp that she began to play. Water like energy blasted out, putting out the fire ball attacks and striking the creature in the face. "Sailor Moon! While its distracted!" She called out.
"Right!" Another blond nodded. "Moon Gorgeous Meditation!" Using the Kaleidomoon Scope, her attack blasted at the creature as it yelled out then screeched as it disappeared into a black mist.
Venus ran to Katsuro, worried. "Are you alright sir?" She asked as he nodded.
"Yeah, thanks to all of you…is that Sailor Mars ok? I tried to hold these guys off as much as I could." He said weakly.
"Yes, you did an awesome job at protecting our comrade, thank you so much." She gave a smile. "Are you ok to walk? You must have people that are worried about you."
"Oh my god, I'm late! I was supposed to meet these new friends I met. Man, they're probably mad I haven't shown up yet. I just started dating this one girl too. I gotta get going! Damn, my clothes. I have to change. This is a disaster!" He began to spiral into a panic as she chuckled a little.
"Don't worry, I'm sure they'll understand. These things are kind of common around here. Just explain to them. We have to go now." She said as the others nodded to her and began to head off. "Get yourself cleaned up some and get to your new friends safely alright?" She asked, kissing her hand then blowing to him with a wink. She then followed the others.
"Strange…she seems, familiar." He stared in awe for a second then shook his head. "Crap crap crap!" He grabbed the groceries he dropped a ways back and began to run to his apartment so he could change clothes and head to the Hikawa Shrine with the directions Minako gave him.
