Look How Far We've Come
She blinked back tears when the children burst into her room that morning, offering gifts and well wishes. She silently offered a prayer of gratitude at the service of thanksgiving held at church. And she smiled during the celebration ball.
After it all, Ella tiredly sank into a chair. Kit knelt before her and gently removed her shoes. Flushing, she smiled as his bright gaze roved over her features. When he drew her into an embrace, she snuggled into his chest, hugging him back.
"Happy anniversary, my queen."
"Happy anniversary, dear heart. I love you."
"And I love you."
