SI as Lucas in the world of Pokemon. A mix of all sources of Pokemon story, mostly the games but with some anime, manga, and even fanfiction in it. The story is a way for me to relax so no flaming. The setting is for a mature audience, it has older characters and it could possibly take on stronger themes. It will explore a trainer that is focused on research so be warned that it could get very nerdy. A lot about the MC is vague to build upon. Slowburn warning, from zero to hero story. English isn't my maiden tongue, so using Grammarly, be nice!

I don't own Pokemon. Press f.

C0 Prologue

"Hello Lucas, I am Agent Looker from the International Police Force. I was sent here to investigate your case, the disturbance at the Solaceon Ruins. I know you are still recovering from your… ordeal, but, the sooner we get through this the sooner we can have answers."

I nodded and signaled for the man to take a seat in the chair in front of my hospital bed. I took a glance at the man before me as he graciously accepted the offer. He was a man with dark brown hair and eyes that gave off the appearance of a man in his 30s. He sported a brown suit and coat and looked every bit like how a detective would look in an old-time movie.

"I have taken a look at your medical files, aside from some bruising everything seems fine. There is an interesting note however on your brain activity. It is not enough to warrant worry for your health, just an overall high activity reading. Possible psychic energy trauma, and also the reason for what the hospital staff attributes your befuddlement in your rather incredible claims of being a scientist."

I sighed and looked down at my small hands and said "That's correct. But I do not lie. I'm a biochemist who is currently working on the possible effects of energy at near-light speed on cells. The project is to know what space travel would do to living cells."

Agent Looker let out a noncommitted hum and said "You are aware that your claim is rather grand for someone barely a teenager".

"I know! I know and it's driving me insane!" I lashed out. "I just want to go back. To where it made sense. Where it was safe".

Looker was unfazed by my outburst and jotted down something in his notebook. Presumably my last outburst. "And could you tell me what you remember? If possible, how did you end up here?"

I nodded, turning to the window of the room, looking at nothing in particular, and began my tale.

My day had started like any other. I was getting my usual work done before closing my corner of the lab for the day, that is until one of my friends, a colleague, stopped by and asked me to help with a few of his measurements since his partner had taken a sick day.

"C'mon, Lucas help me out."

"I told you, man, I'm a biochemist, not a physicist. I barely understand what the team is trying to do with the collider."

"Don't be like that Lucas, all you need to do is press a few buttons while I get the collider going. Easy peasy. The machines will do the rest I promise. There's no need for calculations or calibrations from your end. Help a buddy out."

"Fine," I groaned. "But you owe me a pint tonight, I still have samples to take".

"You got it! Here's a checklist of what you'll need to do."

After grumbling for a while, I found myself before the analytic compartment of the collider, where I began setting the specified parameters for the next run. Sometime later, I began hearing the hum of the machinery beginning and set myself to work faster, knowing the drill well. But suddenly, the customary hum was gone, replaced by a sharp sound, similar to a transformer struggling to handle power. I had to get out of here. I thought to myself, screw this run; they can do it themselves later.

I began running towards the emergency stop switch, inconveniently placed on the other side of the room. But not even halfway through, I knew I was done for. The sound of an explosion was heard behind me, and I was sent tumbling from the force released by the collider.I scrambled to stand and began running again, but something was pulling me back. I lost my footing in my struggle and was sent tumbling again, but instead of falling forward, I was sent in the other direction, backward towards a black mass with two sinister-looking red orbs at the center.

After what felt like an eternity, the pain began to subside, and I found myself standing. My perception of the world around me became distorted and wrong. Everything was as if I were looking through a broken mirror. The symmetry was all wrong, but I couldn't put my finger on why. I felt as if I were walking through a dream or a nightmare, where the rules of reality did not apply.

It was a world of chaos, where time and space did not follow the rules that we knew. Everything was unstable, and even gravity seemed to work differently in different areas. Objects floated around me freely, many of them resembling things from the world I knew, but nothing was quite right. I felt as if I were in a dimension where everything was twisted and distorted, with no way to find my bearings. Endlessly wondering.

"And that's when I heard a scream. It's the last thing I remember before waking in this facility."

I turned my head towards Looker who had a faraway look after jotting down my story. He proceeded to ask more questions. Background, age, medical history, and more. Jotting each answer in his notebook.

The questions stopped sometime later, curiously just before my scheduled check-up was performed. He waited patiently as the nurses did their rounds and began speaking only after they had left.

"This is not the first time I have come across a case like yours, Mr. Lucas"

"What? This is normal ?!"

"Not at all. There are a few cases recorded, extremely rare cases. You are known as a Faller. Your circumstances, however, are unique. Never before had someone suffered as much, or had their bodies reversed to a prior age."

"A Faller?"

"Yes, a Faller. We theorized that fallers are people who pass through certain wormholes, possessing certain kinds of energies. Your presence, however, throws this theory out the window. For starters, the wormhole you passed through is not the type associated with the previous fallers. You also don't contain the energy they appeared with."

"I hope that's good news"

"It is. Fallers usually suffer from amnesia due to this energy. This is what led to my initial interest in your brain activity."

"At least I have that" I sighed. "What will happen to me?"

Looker adopted a grim visage and began speaking with a tone that left no room for argument. "I have kept your presence in this world under wraps. You must understand that you are an anomaly. Many people in this world would snatch you and turn you into nothing more than a lab rattata."

Knowing how lab rats are treated I gulped at the thought.

Lucas gulped at the thought, and Looker continued. "Luckily for you, I was meeting an operative in the area when this anomaly occurred. I have recorded this incident as a child who ended up lost in the Solaceon Ruins. The folks that found you, a family of a father and his daughter, are under the impression that you are an orphan who was a tad too curious and disturbed a flock of Unknown. They have expressed a desire to look after you, I suggest you accept the offer. The alternatives are grim."

"Will they know the truth?"

"No. They will know a modified version, the truth will be kept with me and my superiors. I must insist that what occurred never leave this room. The family has already been screened and is cleared for adoption. Should you accept, they will be told that you are a child Faller. There is precedence in the myths of our lands for this. Your increased maturity and intellect in comparison to other children will be attributed to the psychic energy of the Unown."

I nodded and sadly accepted my fate. " Is there any way I could make my way back?"

Looker shook his head "Sadly, we currently don't"-

My ears perked up. Interrupting his final words, I blurted out, "Wait. Did you say Rattata?" Looker looked at me with a raised eyebrow and corrected me, "No, I said Unown. The psychic hieroglyph Pokemon."

My mouth flew open as a single thought flew through my brain. Motherfu-

AN: Yes, I know CERN wouldn't blow up like that. I just didn't know of a way to make a black hole appear in our times so this was used as an imaginative alternative. Feedback is welcome. I have Lucas' team already in mind but his adversaries and possible companions and their Pokemon are open for suggestions, especially for world lore! Mature themes are for battles, worldbuilding themes, and antagonists. Writing for fun!

SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER!

So for the world setting or "mechanics" I've decided to have Lucas not be knowledgeable about the newest games mechanics and only played until gen 4. Many mechanics will be a surprise to him, specifically things like Mega Evolutions, and Gigantamax. This would also apply to newer Pokemon.
