I dont own fairy tail

Wizard vs God

The wind blew gently as a cool breeze danced across his skin. It always brings a clam to his active mind, to let go of his worries and be free. As free as he once was but that time has long passed. The whirlwind beneath his feet swirled, cueing the nearby clouds to shift and circle. He took in the beauty of the white fluffs that floated on nothing but the wind and their cool contrast to the blue sky that surrounded him. He looked up and the much darker blue hues caught his eyes. From his elevation, he was at the edge of the realms. Just a little further beyond could he see the vast glittering void of the astral sea block only by the material world's atmosphere.

He's always admired the other realms beyond the material plane. He's studied them extensively to further his research but lately the astral realm has been his focus. His new… friend? Can he call her that? No, he shouldn't. She's an acquaintance who has a similar goal to his. His acquaintance knows all about the astral sea, she even has friends from the realm. Her knowledge has been invaluable and he has already connected new theories about its potential. When he presented it to her she was apprehensive, but he managed to convince her that their options to complete their allied goal had dwindled.

He let out a sigh as the whirlwind around him slowed and he descended a couple feet. It's only been 30 seconds but it felt like hours since he happened above the dark layer of clouds that lay a few hundred feet below him. He looked down at the dark black clouds which were not all clouds but more dust and smoke. Flashes of light could be seen through the dust that the man could not tell what the causes were. With each flash he could hear distinct sounds that hinted what caused said flash, the yellow ones were accompanied by rumbles of thunder that signified lightning, red and orange flashes were led by loud whooshing of a roaring flame springing to life.

There were other multicolored flashes followed by the sound of explosions but he could not tell what caused them.

He let out another sigh as he lifted his gaze away from the dark below wanting to be enveloped by the serenity of the upper sky. Closing his eyes he turned to face the setting sun on the western horizon, fleeing the rays of warm light on his pale skin. He reached out, extending a hand towards the light seeking the comfort it gave as he opened his eyes, revealing his blood red irises. He brought his hand back to him clenching on to the white sash of his black cloak. The wind tousled his black hair making it wave over his eyes. What Zeref wouldn't give to remain like this.

"ZEERRRREEEFFFFF!" a booming voice echoed in the air.

Zeref was broken from his tranquil thoughts spinning in his whirlwind and raising himself higher, clenching his fist and peering into the dark layer below him. Zeref watched as five large pillars emerged from the dark surrounding him. They continued to emerge and bend around him, exposing more of the pillars and revealing that they all connected into one. Looking at the scene from a distance the pillars were actually fingers and an enormous hand broke through the cloud layer and closed around Zeref, holding him in a tight clenched fist.

The first dragged him downwards into the dark clouds and as zeref was pulled further and further by the fist the sounds of fighting once again reached his ears. The speed of which he was pulled caused his hair to flare wildly and he steeled his expression and glared forward. The smoke and dust blew past him as new sounds hit his ears.

"RRRROOOAAOAAARRRRR" "AAHHHH" BALLISTA FIRE!" "I NEED A HEALER!"

Finally exiting below the smoke clouds all zeref could see was destruction and death. The fist held him in place still miles above the ground and even from his vantage, to the edge of the horizon, a bloody war lay beneath him. Countless soldiers could be seen battling each wearing different armors and wielding different weapons the only way to tell who was who were the insignias that represented different factions. Many were humans but this battlefield did not discriminate, races of all kinds took part.

This world of theirs, Earthland, was home to many fantastical folk. Humans, elves, giants, halflings, orcs, goblins, trolls, dwarfs and more. That doesn't even begin to cover the races of the other realms outside of the material plane. The closest realms to the material world were the fey and fell realms. Centaurs, fauns, faeries of the fey and the drow, ghouls and vampires of the fell. Those were just the ones zeref was certain were in the battle.

He could see a centaur calvary charging a human and drow defensive line as archers rode on their backs launching volley after volley of arrows. In another area human soldiers were loading massive trebuchets and ballistas atop a small fortress. The fortress was mostly stone, no doubt created by an earth mage. It was currently besieged by multiple flying enemies, large humanoid bird people, some more bird-like, others just humans with wings, harpy's joined them as well.

Many clashes like this were taking place with blood being spilled and people being mortally wounded and beasts of burden were used like the giant basilisk currently killing hundreds with acidic venom. Zeref watch as a massive ball of fire hit it in the side knocking it down.

"RRROOOOOAAAR" ah, yes of course he wouldn't dismiss one of the major factions taking part. The dragons. The whole war was their fault really, some wanting coexistence with other races and others wanting to rule them all. This war had started small on the continent of ishgar, dragon attacks became more frequent, tensions began to rise and soon full scale battle began, this one was just the latest. Dragons of all kinds picked sides with some choosing to abstain from it all. Though dragon was the catch all term, the different draconic species were divided as well.

The land dwelling Drakes, Wryms and Lindwyrms were wreaking havoc across the land. The drakes were four legged behemoths most closely tied to earth magic and were causing earthquakes as they ran. The lindwyrms would dive beneath the ground and pop up to consume whatever unfortunate soul was in their path, and the Wyrms would spew there venom and poisonous gasses.

The wyverns flew through the sky calling down the lightning and surging winds, as they dodged the many magical blasts thrown their way. Of course they weren't alone as the dragokin fought alongside them. Zeref was intrigued by the dragokin but he hasn't had time to learn about them, they were a new race of people that appeared during the war choosing to fight for the dragons who wanted to rule. They were humanoid people with draconic features though appearances varied. They looked similar to lizard-folk but some would have horns, wings or tails.

Finally the true dragons were causing the most mayhem. Called true dragons because they were the most common, the easiest way to tell the draconic species apart was the amount of wings and legs they had. The true dragons had four legs and a pair of large batlike wings. All draconics came in all sorts of colors that would separate them even more. Like the large red scaled dragon flying right at him. Zeref was pulled out his thoughts as the dragon unleashed a powerful breath attack, burning the hand that held him.

Upon feeling the scorching heat he was let go, and because he stopped using his fly spell, zeref fell a few hundred feet before landing on the back of the red dragon.

"Damn you zeref, you have no right to be so calm when you started this mess!"

Zeref righted himself on the dragon's back, right between its wings. He looked up to see the dragon glaring at him as they flew around the giant hand swatting at them.

"Apologies Igneel, I was thrown above the cloud layer, it just seemed so peaceful."

The dragon, Igneel, just snorted and released a puff of smoke from his nostrils. With a mighty flap of his wings they flew off a ways away from the giant hand before turning to face it. Before them was a massive figure bigger than even the giants stomping and the battle field below. The figure stood towering at 50 meters, five times that of even the biggest giant.

The appearance was that of a man with long white hair wearing a blue and gold tunic covered by intricate silver armor, they wore no chest piece but pauldrons on their shoulders and bracers on the forearms. Around their waist was a large belt that held a clock face. Surrounding them were multiple giant magic circles with runic numbers. This was no mortal being, it was a god.

The god glared at the two before speaking, his voice thundering across the land.

"Black wizard Zeref, you have gone too far. First, your blatant disrespect towards the gods caused us unease but for you to try to meddle in our domains without the authority of our clerics, you have truly become an enemy of the gods. Against the natural order of the world."

Zeref only glared as the god spoke and a magical aura surrounded him.

"The gods do nothing for the mortal worlds chronos, when people pray to you all for help in their times of need you look away. When any wizard tries to expand knowledge of magic, anything that is deemed too close to your domains is deemed forbidden. Only your chosen clerics and paladins may use divine magic and while they do good for the mortal realms you prevent the common people from using greater power. The natural order you tout is a curse on the world on of which i will break"

"Do not act as if your actions were for nobel reasons. You sought to bring back the dead without consulting a cleric of the domain. It is for this slight that Ankhseram bestowed his curse upon you."

Zeref grit his teeth in anger at Chronos's words. Indeed he was cursed by the god of life, Ahnkseram. His curse of contradiction made him immortal and unkillable but the worst part was that if he felt any appreciation for life it would inversely be killed. That was how he had killed every scholar at his academy.

"Not only have you not learned from your punishment you defied the gods even more. For eons the gates to the 9 hells have been sealed keeping demons and devils from the material plane but you forced them open! hoping one of them had the strength to kill you when no mortal could. All for naught, anhkseram's curse will not be broken even by other gods. That should have been the end of your pitiful quest but even then you had the audacity to create your own!" Chronos yelled as he gestures to another part of the battlefield.

Aways away hordes of demons were slaughtering indiscriminately. Many were small and minor but there were also quite a few that were causing the most mayhem. A massive, dark blue, humanoid demon was shooting beams of condensed magic from its mouth tearing apart a large field. A demon with four arms and a squid-like bottom half was ripping knights limb from limb in a bloody mess. A beastly hyena-like demon was laughing as it tore a centaur to shreds, explosions going off around it.

In the air floating high above the ground was a large cube like creature; it had no eyes but a large mouth and tentacles extending from its bottom. It was extending the tentacles to attack anything that got close to it screeching loudly.

"Your own etherious demons as you dubbed them now wreak more havoc on the world than actual ones. Innocent mortals have suffered because of your evil"

Zeref looked back to Chronos with a blank face. His demons joining this war was an unplanned event. When he ventured into the nine hells to study real demons he brought back all his notes to create his etherious demons. The etherious were created from a new type of magic he also created, living magic. As a scholar and a wizard, Zeref studied everything arcane and was proclaimed as a prodigy. In his research he was able to combine the effects and attributes of multiple magics with each other and create new magics.

With his knowledge he was able to write books using different magics during the process. Within the books contained information about the demon the book was assigned to and its life written as a story. The books also held diagrams and magic formulas connected to the demon about their creation. In reality the books themselves are the demons and their physical bodies are them come to life. If a demon is killed so long as their book is unharmed they can be brought back to life. As the creator and author of the books they are tied to Zeref.

"Finally you've openly declared war against the gods." Chronos said, dragging him out of his thoughts again.

"You forced every faction of this war into one spot so that in the ensuing chaos as things became more and more dire, a high level cleric would cast the divine intervention spell and summon a god, did I get that right?"

"That is true" zeref said with edge in his voice " I used the spell universe one along with multiple multi-layered magic circles across the continent to force all armies into one battlefield, in the chaos i knew the divine faction that worshiped the gods would be quickly overwhelmed forcing the clerics to summon their gods. I used the spell suggestion to influence which god was summoned. YOU"

Chronos glared with intense hate at zeref. This immortal mortal will be the end of them all, he can see it, literally, as the god of time he can see its flow but when he looks into zerefs future he can only see darkness and nothing more. When he was summoned five minutes ago he was immediately caght off guard by a massive blast of light magic. He was pushed backward and when he gained his bearing a sword of light pierced his stomach. A streak of light was coming directly at his eye before he manipulated time to speed up his reaction time and flick it into the upper atmosphere. The sword dissipated when he did, then he rewound time on his wound. Taking in the chaos he was summoned into he peered into the past to see what had happened and when he did he was met with the sight of the black wizard casting a powerful spell. He called out the wizard's name in anger before grabbing him from the clouds. This brings chronos back to now.

"Speak your agenda zeref. I can not see what your future holds but i know it will only cause ruin"

"The gods are a bane to the mortal realm, selfish deities who hoard divine power to themselves. All I've wished for is to right my wrongs but the gods keep even that from me. The greatest spell known, the Wish spell and all other forms of wish magic capable of rewriting reality itself, the gods keep it from me! I could remove my curse, I could truly revive what I've lost or make it so I never did, I could erase the biggest threat to the world right now, Acnologia could be no more! You and the other gods have been worshiped long enough!"

When Zeref began speaking he was calm and steady but as he continued his anger grew to where he ended his speech yelling.

"How disrespectful, I wish Anhkseram had simply killed you instead of giving you immortality. I can not kill you but I will make sure you're punished thoroughly. HAAAAAA"

Chronos raised his and held his palm in Zeref and Igneel's direction, firing a concentrated blast of divine magic, it may not kill Zeref but it will hurt like hell. Zeref glared unflinching as he casted fly on himself, leaving igneel's back.

"Igneel go to Anna, if you're caught in this blast you will be erased from time itself. Go stop Mard Geer from being to troublesome"

"It's already troublesome, why did you give him the book of END, I swear if he opens it, if anything happens to my boy, I will have your head!" Igneel huffs before flying off.

Zeref glared unflinchingly at the wave of magic coming towards him. Stretching his arms in front of him forms a triangle with his hands with a glowing blue orb between them. Just before the beam reaches him Zeref slashes outward with his arms, the glowing orb flowing there movements and stretching into a glowing blue square.

"DELIHS"

BOOOSSHHHH the beam collided with the barrier forcing Zeref back as he struggled to keep his spell up against the immense power of a god. Smaller beams were split off as it collided with the barrier shield, redirected in multiple directions. Some harmlessly went up wards but multiple went downwards causing massive ditches to form as they connected with the ground. Carving the earth many from all sides were caught in the attack. The effect of the spell on any that got hit would cause them to age forward in time. Soldiers on the ground watched as their comrades, friends, caught in the attack began to age.

Chronos glanced down as he kept up his continuous beam, seeing the mortals caught in the crossfire. He showed no sympathy as his spell took hold. Every creature had their own natural lifespans, where they were to die of old age with no outside interference. This spell of his accelerated that time to where there was nothing but dust. And dust there was, as many mortals began to rapidly age, the healthy and young becoming decrepit and old but it did not stop there. Many mortals tried to beg for help, their bodies losing strength as they aged, a few held them in their arms trying to keep them standing calling for healers. One halfling warrior was trying to pull together a pile of dust into an empty armor set.

Those with much longer lifespans tried to take advantage of the aging beams like the dragons. As dragons got older their power would grow as well. Young dragons could destroy a city, adult dragons a kingdom, but Ancients, they could ravage entire continents with their natural strength alone. In the thousands of years of earth's land history very few dragons have reached the age of an ancient, those that did were usually peaceful and came from the eastern continent Orienta. In Ishgar there were a few ancient dragons that wanted coexistence with other races but they were killed not too long ago.

Chronos saw a few adult dragons purposefully fly through the stray beams, beginning to grow larger and gain changes to the body that come with age. They quickly put their rapidly growing power to use, launching breath attacks of devastating power. This wasn't good, if so many dragons gain power of ancients it could have disastrous effects. Chronos ceased his attack to prevent any more ancients, only 9 dragons were able to fly through his beam but they would soon die before too much destruction happened, he would see to it.

Zeref released his spell as well when the time ray stopped, glaring at chronos. Bringing his hands together as if praying, a yellow light shines through the gaps. Chronos sighed before his humongous form began to shrink from 50 meters to 3 meters. Extending his arm out, in a flash of light-blue light a large sword appears in his hand.

"It seems i'll have to do this the old fashion way or as the 18 battle gods like to say the fun way" chrons said floating not far from Zeref.

"You can't beat me in battle black wizard. My divine time magic will allow me to emerge victorious."

"No magic is all powerful chronos, do not forget that i landed the first strike. Allow me to show you your magical counter. Light creation magic: blinding long sword."

Pulling his palms apart, the magical light Zeref created solidified in the image of a long sword of blinding light. Taking the sword in hand, Zeref was surrounded by the same glowing light before completely vanishing, by moving so fast the naked eye could not perceive it. In less than a second Zeref closed the distance between him and Chronos, swinging his sword directly at the gods neck. Before contact could be made chronos reacted just as fast, blocking the blade of light and stopping all of zeref's momentum. Chronos locked eyes with zeref nothing but hate filling both their eyes be for the two separated.

Floating there, in the air hundreds of meters above the ground where a brutal war took place, the Black wizard and God of time would engage in a battle that would shake the world and change the fate of the realms for ages to come.

Neither broke eye contact as Chronos made the first move. Stepping through time itself he appeared in front of Zeref, faster than instant teleportation. Swinging his sword in an overhead strike, both hands on the handle, he brought the magical weapon down ward. Zeref was barely able to react in time, blocking the attack as he was visibly thrown off by Chronos's speed. The force behind the attack spiked Zeref strait to the ground causing a crater to form and stunning him.

With no time to catch his breath chronos appear above stabbing his sword downward straight into Zeref's stomach. Blood began to seep from the wound as pain coursed through him and he let out a strangled cough, blood coming out as well.

"I will teach you not to defy the natural order" Chronos says as he withdraws his sword, and punts Zeref into the edge of the crater. Around the edge of the crater soldiers wearing plate armor surrounded the two.

"Lord Chronos, please allow us to fight alongside you, the black wizard must pay for his atrocities" a tall human man yelled as he removed his helmet. On his armor was a holy symbol of the gods, the same symbol was present on every single soldier. Zeref scoffed as he got up, his wounds beginning to heal.

He hated having to deal with these people. All of the gathered soldiers were part of the legion of divine order, they were one of the armies he brought to this battle and the ones he tricked into summoning chronos. Their forces were mostly clerics and paladins devoted to the gods, who granted their followers access to divine magics.

Chronos looked over the army before speaking "Your loyalty to the gods and the natural order is commendable and appreciated"

"It is nothing lord chronos, through us do the gods make known their will. The vile black wizard has been a scourge upon earthland for many years. Our order has made it our mission to prevent his evil from destroying everything."

"As you should, there is a balance that must be maintained, your offer of help is noted but unneeded. I will take care of the black wizard, you all must end this war. The evil dragons also seek to upset the balance and others are fighting this war out of greed and tyranny. Put an end to them for time is on your side"

Chronos then waved his hand across the field as all the soldiers were surrounded in a blue aura. All of them felt the wounds and fatigue vanish and the magic users felt their power replenished. They all cheered with renewed vigor as they rushed back into the skirmishes. Some stayed near ready to help the god of time should he ask but held faith he would not fail.

Zeref was now on his feet as he walked towards chronos.

"They spout order and justice, claiming to protect the innocent but we both know that they would kill those innocent without question if a god decreed it so."

"We know what is best for the world and they will act accordingly. The world in our hands is true order, your evil is chaos"

"If it means freeing the world from your grasps, i will gladly be the evil you claim I am"

With great speed Zeref speeds through the air, slashing at chronos with his light sword. Chronos deflects the attack as zeref's zooms by and away forcing Chronos to follow. As they move across the battlefield both make attempts to harm the other who responds in kind, stopping for seconds before moving again. With each clash of their blades shock waves were created, sending any near at the time blown away. Some tried to interfere with their duel but were killed swiftly by Zeref or Chronos, like a large wyvern who attempted to bite them. It was beheaded with a single slash.

As they fought Chronos furrowed his brow, zeref said he brought him here for a reason but he didnt know why. He couldn't see his future to find out and so far their fight has had him on the offensive and the black wizard on the back foot.

'What is he planning'

Zeref could see that chronos was starting to catch on, his time to enact his plan would be soon but he needed chronos weakened just a bit more. As the two were about to clash again and a resounding bell tolled across the battlefield, many paused for a brief second before continuing so as not to lose their lives.

Off in the distance where his demons were running wild a pillar of light shot into the sky, pushing the layer of smoke and clouds away revealing the shining night sky. A massive circle appeared in the sky with 12 symbols layered along the ring. One of them shined then faded and the middle of the circle split down the middle and opened like a pair of doors. Coming through the gateway was a massive figure, about as big as the giants, that wore green and silver armor along with a large billowing cape. Zeref and Chronos knew who this figure was.

'Dammit Anna this will put our plans behind schedule' Zeref thought

'What is Astreaus doing here, did someone really summon him.' chronos thought

The two refocused their attention on each other, they can deal with this new development when the one infront of them is dealt with. Once again the two clashed, restarting the battle. Zeref gave one last glance in the direction of the figure.

'Anna, I hope you know what your doing'
