2008-
It was the last day of camp at Acorn Flats, Patsy smiles was sitting on the porch of her cabin, bag on her lap. most of the Squirrels had already left as the bus from Camp Kidney showed to pick them up. Despite Acorn Flats being superior to the old run-down Bean Scout Camp, Acorn Flats did not have a bus.
The main reason why Patsy wasn't on said bus was because it would be dropping the kids off at the Train station and Patsy only lived a few towns away from Prickly Pines, a decent length drive. Hoo-Ha decided he would pick her up as he was in town for the closing of the camps.
There she sat waiting for her father to pick her up, a lot going through her mind, such as seeing her best friends; Gretchen and Nina leave already, the rest of the scouts going back to their homes, the fact the school would be starting up.
No, the main thing lingering through her mind was a certain scout; a scout she would probably never see again. This was of course the Head Bean Scout and leader of Jelly cabin, Lazlo; a scout who despite Patsy being head over heels for, never acted on her feelings.
Did Lazlo know how she felt, the two left without even sharing words or even seeing each other. she watched the Monkey ride that bus out of her life, feeling a part of herself missing. she sat, breathing a sigh. eventually the Commander's bright red jeep pulled up. Patsy sighed, getting off the porch of her cabin, walking toward the vehicle that would take her back to her regular life.
The Mongoose, walked towards the jeep, putting her bag in the backseat, sitting up front, across from her father. looking over as he asked how Patsy's summer was. She simply sat there, saying it was alright. wonder to herself, what could have happened, if she had just been more upfront with Lazlo. Patsy just realized despite her crush, she never even got to learn his last name.
As most as she wanted to believe they would meet again; the truth was she was probably never going to see him again.
2023-
Patsy woke up, doing her stretches, the Mongoose was now 29 years old, against the odds she actually did it; looking at the sleeping Monkey right next to her, they have been happily married for 11 years, had a very healthy sex life and were granted two beautiful children. she looked at the sleeping monkey, gently nudging his shoulder.
"Hun; wake up" Patsy whispered, stirring the monkey from his slumber as he opened his eyes. greeting his spouse as he watched Patsy get out of the bed, wearing a light blue nightgown as she changed into her regular clothes. a pair of black pants and a light green shirt.
Lazlo got himself up, as Patsy offered to get started on Breakfast, he offered to get the kids up and ready. Lazlo got out of bed, putting on a vibrant colored Hawaiian shirt and a pair of Cargo shorts. Lazlo than left his room, ready to greet the world with his usual cheery attitude which has not changed despite aging.
He was still that same Monkey he was when he was kid, which easily wore off on their kids. he approached the door in the hall that clearly belonged to the kids, as the lower half was covered in stickers. Lazlo opened the door, peering as the kids were blobs wrapped under the sheets. Lazlo giggled, flicking the lights on and off. Seeing the two not getting up, Lazlo tiptoed towards the two beds. He'd have to be sneaky as walked towards them, pulling the covers off the two beds playfully "wake up."
"NOW!" a voice called as Lazlo saw under the covers were just two piles of clothes. The closet opened; Lazlo being pelted with foam darts as two mongoose children stepped out of the closet firing toy guns at the monkey. the foam darts bounced around the room as Lazlo laid back on floor "Got you Dad."
The kids were helping Lazlo up as he chuckled, telling them to clean up the mess and then come down for breakfast. the kids nodded, seeing their father leave.
The two Moreira kids were twins, ten years old 10. Carl and Judy. Carl wearing blue pajamas with dark brown hair, short, Judy in pink Pajamas with brown hair in a ponytail. they could only be described as Lazlo and Patsy's kids. they were every bit as energetic and go-lucky as their parents.
Lazlo believed that they kept him young and playful while Patsy believed that their father easily wore off on them. Carl looked at his sister as they both picked up the foam darts. Carl commenting on the look on their dad's face.
Judy nodded, wishing their mom could have seen the look on his face, reaching for the darts. Once they were all put away the two headed down for Breakfast.
Patsy was finishing up the scrambled eggs, Lazlo checking his phone, typing on the screen as Patsy looked him, telling her husband the was no screen time at the Table. Lazlo nodded, sending his text as he pocketed his phone, kissing Patsy on the cheek before he sat down as Patsy served the four plates at the table.
"Awesome, Mom makes the best scrambled eggs" Carl cheered as Patsy smiled, saying it due to the blend of spices she used. Sitting down as Lazlo looked at Judy, prompting her to put her fork down. telling the kids not to start until their mother has sat down, as they ate as a family.
Patsy thanked them, taking her own seat. giving everyone the okay to start eating. the eggs were served with sausage and chopped fruit salads, the fruit of course came from the Fruita Quicka business which Lazlo's family owned, being Brazil's largest fruit distributor and having branches in the US. The Moreira family wasn't loaded but they did not have to worry about finical troubles.
The Kids enjoyed their breakfast, Carl asked Lazlo to pass the pitcher of juice, which he did as the young boy topped his glass, asking Judy as she wanted more, filling his sister's cup.
"So, are you two excited, your first summer camping?" Lazlo asked, looked at the kids who were clearly excited, Lazlo figuring out that was probably why they were so energetic in the morning.
Lazlo and Patsy had often told the two about their own camping experiences from back in the day and the two were looking forward towards being scouts and this would be their first year as Bean and Squirrel Scouts. Not only this but Lazlo and Patsy would be their scoutmasters as Lumpus and Jane had retired and moved down to Florida.
Since Lumpus had no son of his own to pass Camp Kidney to, he decided to pass it down to Lazlo as he was a model scout, plus the old moose mellowed out after being happily married to former Denmother.
Lazlo sipped his coffee, asking the two to help their mother by cleaning up the dishes as the two let out a sigh. Patsy reminded them that she cooked this breakfast for them, they least they could do is help with the dishes. Judy asked why their dad did not have to clean the dishes.
"Because I paid my dues, besides the sooner you kids finish the sooner you get to open the mail" Lazlo said gesturing to some packages on the table as the kids perked up, asking the packages were really what the kids thought they were. Lazlo walked up, picking the packages under arm. reminding them 'not until the dishes were clean'.
Carl and Judy bunkered down, as the male Mongoose spoke up, asking Judy if she wanted to wash or dry. Judy decided on drying as the two occupied the sink. Patsy slid the scraps into the trash, handing the dirty plates to Carl who washed them, running a sponge along the plates, rinsing them off before handing them to Judy who dried them off with a towel, stacking them into a neat pile.
"See, that's what happens when you work together as a team; now, how about we open those packages" Patsy added as Lazlo set the packages on the cleared kitchen table. the two Mongoose kids opened the brown paper, shrieking with excitement as the two were holding the contents as they looked at their scouting uniform. Lazlo told them they could not show to camp in their jammies and told the two to head upstairs. Patsy telling him they ran upstairs as soon as they got the outfits.
After getting ready the four put their bags in the Car, Lazlo and Patsy were now earing their Scoutmaster and Denmother outfits as the Monkey carried the bag of trash out. they then got in the car and began the drive. Lazlo asking everyone how their outfits felt. Carl commenting that he loved the color and enjoyed the shorts. Judy added that the pantyhose was a bit itchy, but the skirt felt really comfy, sitting in the back seat.
"Okay, last call either of you need to go potty before we leave?" Patsy asked as the kids looked at each other. Judy saying, she could go but didn't have to. Carl deciding to join as he'd rather go now. the two heading back into the house as Lazlo looked at the kids.
The Monkey commented on how it took him back, seeing the two kids in their scout uniforms and Patsy nodded, seeing them, curious about the adventures they would have, recalling the scouts as the best years of their life. Lazlo got what she was saying, reflecting on the adventures of the Jelly Trio. wondering how Raj and Clam were doing. Lazlo actually kept in contact with the two and from what they said, things were well.
Eventually the kids came back full of adventurous spirit and empty bladders and Lazlo's car started. The Moreira family played a few games to pass the time: classics like Ispy and the road sign game. Eventually the four made their way to Prickly Pines. Lazlo told them to get acquainted to the town as it would be their second home. The Car pulled up to Acorn Flats as Lazlo let Patsy and Judy out, waving to his wife and daughter before driving Carl to Camp Kidney, the two rolled up in the car.
"Wow, goosebumps" Lazlo commented, seeing Camp Kidney for the first time in all these years.
this a continuation of Camp Lazlo, Time has passed, and Lazlo & Patsy are returning to their camps as adults/parents. in this universe the end of 'Lumpus' Last Stand' is not canon, he and jane are still married and retired. this was written as a one-shot, but I may do more with it. The Family name being Moreira is a reference to Dexter1995's 'Make the Most of It' which I encourage you to read.
