CHAPTER 2
Ethan arrived to a terrace and he saw Benji with Ilsa. They were surrounded by Janik Vinter and the rest of Lane's men. He stopped when he saw her. He was happy she was alive. Ethan hadn't thought it wouldn't be like that, but he didn't expect to find her there. When he approached them, Ilsa warned him to be careful and Benji, (actually, Lane) explained to him the strong contents of the bomb as a threat. He looked at Ilsa again and she raised a gun that was placed in her right hand.
Benji was wearing an explosive vest. He was in touch with Lane and they didn't have much time before the vest exploded. He looked at Ilsa. They had to pretend that she was not part of their plan, so she spoke to her as if nothing had happened between them.
-Your final test.
-When Lane has what he wants, I kill you and Benji. If not, everyone dies.
He looked around. He couldn't let Benji and himself die. But the second option wasn't very favorable either. He sat in one of the chairs, with Benji in front of him and Ilsa in his right side.
-Human nature. My weapon of choice. From the moment I killed the young lady in the record shop, I knew you would stop at nothing to catch me. I also knew Ilsa wouldn't have a choice. Whether she broke you that night you met or let you go, whether you let her run in Morocco, whether she went to Atlee or not.
-You were certain we'd end up where we are right now. -Ethan made a pause- Then, again, so was I. I know you, Lane. Somewhere along the line, you had a crisis of faith. Human life didn't matter anymore. Or maybe it never really did. Either way, you killed too many innocent people without asking who was giving the orders or why. You blame the sistem for what you are, instead of yourself. You wanted revenge, but Rome wasn't destroyed in a day. You needed help, and money, a lot of it. And you'll stop at nothing to get it. That's how I know I'm going to put you in a box.
The conversation continued and Benji ended beeing free. Now there were only Ethan and Ilsa. A minute later, the escape began. There came a time when they separated and the concern for Ilsa began to fill Ethan. Anyway, she had managed to escape, killing Janik and they had ended all the team in the parking lot, with Lane trapped, he fainted and they put him in a fake ambulance van. Benji, Brandt and Luther changed while Ilsa and Ethan approached the car with which they were going to leave.
-You're free now. What we'll we do next?
-I don't know. We have done our part.
-Yes…
She couldn't resist herself. While Ethan was thoughtful about what had just happened and what was going to happen now, Ilsa threw herself at him and held him in her arms. He smiled at her actions and held her firmly.
Once they had already said goodbye to their friends, Ethan sat in the driver's seat and Ilsa sat next to him.
They quickly drived to the exit of the parking to go to the airport and return to Ilsa's house in Casablanca.
Ethan was happy to have finally found the love of his life. He no longer cared about the possible risks as with Julia. He wanted to be with her and she wanted to be with him. If something happened to Ilsa, Ethan would be there for her, and vice versa. They didn't know what the future would have in store for them, but they would face it. Together.
So that's ittt (for now heheh)
