Chapter 1: The Boats
Maybe she needed to think, to better assess whether it would be valid to remaining Santa Barbara in order to take the yacht that had belonged to Owen, because maybe it was risky to go to the beach Where she left the vessel, because of the war that was being waged between prisoners and Rattlers. There were so many decisions she needed to make, and I didn't even know Where to start.
Then, she looked at the other boat which was facing the beach and took a deep breath as she stared at the immune girl as if she feared that, she would suddenly change her mind again and attempt some sneak attack. However, absolutely nothing happened.
'Will she leave me alone after this fight?' The blonde wondered mentally.
Because all Abby Anderson intended was to move on with Lev. It was then that she realized that the boy was still unconscious, which meant that she had to hurry, wherever she went... It didn't matter. All that was relevant at that point was to put him to safety. Afterall, this boy didn't deserve anything that had happened either When They were in the possession of the Rattlers gang for three long months, nor did he deserve to be involved in a situation that concerned only her and her long held desire for revenge Against Joel Miller.
It was then that the blonde looked back at the other boat again and realized that, after the young woman had entered it, she who challenged her had not even moved. Suddenly worried — even though they had been violently fighting a few minutes before —, she decided to swim a few feet to check what happened. Who knows, too, Abby wouldn't get some water for the boy next to the immune girl's belongings – that was what she hoped to get.
Even though the salt water caused almost unbearable pain in her wounds, Abby knew she needed to keep going. She couldn't give up When she had a boy full of life and faith under her care, someone who deserved so Much more than herself. For that reasons she would fight to the last shred of strength she could hold, swimming harder than usual due to the weakness in her body because Lev needed her. And all she couldn't do was let him down now.
As soon as she reached the other boat, she found the immune girl passed out. Then, after taking a deep breath to catch her breath, the ex-soldier rummaged through the backpack she found next to the person lying there for items, flashing a weak smile at finding a bottle of water. Then she focused her blue eyes on the young woman's body, which had a deep cut poorly sewn on the abdomen, probably because of some trap or some clash Against the Rattlers – Abby didn't know for sure. All she knew was that she was undecided as to whether to help her or not, despite the terrible Fight they had just had.
Also, because, at no time the former member of the WLF wanted the duel against the young woman in question, even had twice refused to face her, not because of her precarious physical conditions, but because of something Much deeper. However, she was forced to fight her when the immune girl put the knife to Lev's neck. No. The blonde couldn't stand. She had already lost a lot in the last year, and if the boy ended up dead, she knew that her motivation to move forward would also end. Only for this reason did she accept the duel. But now, in the circumstances they found themselves in when they needed all sorts of supplies, they could muster, Abby pondered whether to return to pick her up or not, while hanging the backpack she found on her shoulders and swimming back to the boat Where she has had left the boy.
As soon as she got there, she tried to lift the boy's head up enough that could give him some water; then she drank a few sips of the liquid as well soon after, as she thought again of The Young Woman she had left in the other boat.
From what she had heard in the theater about a year ago, her name was Ellie, but wasn't sure about that fact, because it wasn't like They had both sat down to talk amicably at some point – much earlier on the contrary. However, was it still a life that was a drift with that little boat, the life of a person who had murdered some of his friends, but still, the Young Woman deserved to die because of it? Abby asked herself several questions as she turned on the boat, she was on to bring it as close as possible to the person she was considering saving. Because maybe, a mere maybe, having a gesture of peace would make a difference in the end.
