Onboard the Great Fox, Lylat System
At a height of three hundred and seventy-five statute miles and almost three times that much in length, the Great Fox was the custom built mobile base of Team Star Fox, one of the finest mercenary units in the Lylat System. As the starship sailed through the vast darkness of outer space, surrounded by the planets and stars of the Lylat System itself, two of the Great Fox's passengers were interacting with each other quite nicely, if uncertainly, in the captain's cabin.
The effective head of Team Star Fox was a fox nearing his young adulthood named Fox McCloud and sitting in the seat opposite him while he sat on his bed was a pink-furred and blue-eyed cat named Katt Monroe. Both of them were wearing attire fit for piloting vehicles fit land, sea, air, and space altogether. As mercenaries, the aforementioned two and their remaining teammates, Peppy Hare and Slippy Toad, mostly did work for the Cornelian Army in removing pirates, smugglers, and other criminals that were more nuisances than outright threats.
However, with the possibility of incoming interplanetary war, Katt felt the need to talk with Fox on serious matters.
"Have you and Peppy talked about it, Fox," Katt finally asked as soon as Fox's end of the conversation mentioned the planet Venom, where a renegade army under the leadership of Andross, an exiled scientist responsible for the presumed death of the unit's founder and previous leader, James McCloud, was steadily growing in size and strength.
Exhaling with a knowing frown at Katt's question, Fox was silent for a brief moment before finally saying, "About taking things in my own hands with Andross not just when the war happens, but maybe before it, too? Yeah, Peppy has been lecturing me about it when you and Slippy aren't around, which is a bit annoying, if understandable." Seeing Katt's worried stare towards him, Fox then gave said, "But it's okay, Katt. I'm not making a preemptive attack anytime soon, and I won't take it up against Andross alone."
Showing a more sympathetic look, Katt then laid a hand on Fox's shoulder as she said, "I know he made it personal with your father, Fox, and I totally get why you'd want to hunt him, but thanks for sticking with us."
Gesturing for Katt to sit on his lap, an invitation she happily accepted, Fox replied, "Hey, I wouldn't be a great leader if I wasn't a good teammate, right?"
Katt giggled as she commented with, "True enough," and then left a quick kiss on Fox's mouth.

Decided to make a Fox/Katt depiction, after all. I apologize for not going in depth to what events would have led to Katt, not Falco Lombardi, becoming the delinquent recruit of Star Fox, but I admittedly wanted to get this done in order to move onwards with other writing projects.
