In Twice the Trouble, Jesse Harris-Chase of the Brave au accidentally traveled thru a Quantum Mirror and visited the Protectors au. He had a few adventures before coming home. I think he deserves more through.

While there are similarities between the Protectors au and the Brave au, the are also significant differences.

The Protectors are a group that began training to fight demons when they were only ten years old. They're soul Bonded to wolves. This makes them stronger than Slayers, as well as giving them heightened senses. They have a limited psychic ability known as mind touch, they can read animal minds and retain the animals memories. Their most significant sense, though, is the ability to scent. Scenting means gathering information regarding the physical and emotional health of people around them. They can get alot of information this way.

In the Protectors Meet SG 1, I introduced the Protectors to the world of Stargate. Stargate was mostly unaffected by this introduction at first, mostly Sam not getting involved with Pete (ew). A few more changes occured when the Protectors went to Atlantis. I will be getting back to the Protectors. I've plotted out three new stories.

In the meantime, I'm back in the Brave au. Brave has some significant differences. Buffy was canon up until Cordelia was bit by a werewolf and Xander pulled out all the stops in order to protect her. Consequently, things changed drastically. Xander's 'subtle' methods to protect Cordelia lead to the discovery that Willow had damaged herself doing the soul curse. The Willow in the Brave au needed healing and training as a result. Now she's part of a small coven formed by her teacher, Carrie White, who also took on Amy and Michael Czyjak. Tara and Johnathan have since joined. Tara and Willow are together.

The Brave au Xander gained confidence in himself during his efforts to protect Cordelia. He also has a mystical ability of his own. He's a pyromancer (think Drew Barrymore in Firestarter) as well as a clairvoyant. The Hyena spirit and Fish boy experiment left him stronger than an Olympic athlete. Nowhere near Slayer level, but still stronger than a normal human. Xander also has a Blessing from the gods for saving Buffy's life. He can transform at will into a giant brown hyena, roughly the size of a lioness. Both he and Cordelia can scent. Their son Jesse is a crossbreed. A wolf/hyena, something that can't happen in nature, he can scent too and thanks to Xander, has control. Also, Cordelia has a mystical ability of her own, she gets visions.

The Brave au Buffy died when Glory came to town, which happened at a different time then in canon. Jesse was about a year old. Dawn was still 14 when the monks made her, which means, she and Buffy were eleven years apart, instead of six. Willow had much more respect for Magic and it didn't even occur to her, to try to Magic her back from the dead, so the First never manifested.

Stargate in the Brave au was canon without Pete as well. Demon Command exists here as well. The Initiative fiasco was when they first took unofficial notice of the Scoobies, through the Scoobies didn't know it. Demon Command had just found out what the Initiative was up to when Adam escaped, they were mobilizing to do something about him when the Scoobies put him down. Hard. At the time, it was decided to just leave the Scoobies alone, they were doing just fine. But the Quantum Mirror changed that. Au Xander revealed information Stargate Command considered Classified, knowledge of aliens, specifically the Ancients. So official notice had to be taken.

The Scoobies are now listed as a civilian militia with Demon Command. Some good things about this is that they no longer have to supply their own equipment and they get some actual training. The bad side is, that Xander, as head of the Scoobies, has to do paperwork. Also, since he and Cordelia each have an extremely high and strong Ancient gene, they get called in to consult, regarding difficult to activate or understand Ancient tech.

Which is where this story comes in. They've been asked to go to Atlantis for the summer and Jesse gets to go with. If it gets Xander out of paperwork, he's all for it.

But can you imagine what kind of trouble a smart, pranking, prone to getting into trouble kid with a very high and strong Ancient gene can do in Atlantis?
